We show that the crossed modules and bicovariant different calculi on two Hopf algebras related by a cocycle twist are in 1-1 correspondence. In particular, for quantum groups which are cocycle deformation-quantisations of classical groups the calculi are obtained as deformation-quantisation of the classical ones. As an application, we classify all bicovariant differential calculi on the Planck scale Hopf algebra $\C[x]\bicross_{\hbar,\grav}\C[p]$. This is a quantum group which has an $\hbar\to 0$ limit as the functions on a classical but non-Abelian group and a $\grav\to 0$ limit as flat space quantum mechanics. We further study the noncommutative differential geometry and Fourier theory for this Hopf algebra as a toy model for Planck scale physics. The Fourier theory implements a T-duality like self-duality. The noncommutative geometry turns out to be singular when $\grav\to 0$ and is therefore not visible in flat space quantum mechanics alone.
This is an introduction to work on the generalisation to quantum groups of Mackey's approach to quantisation on homogeneous spaces. We recall the bicrossproduct models of the author, which generalise the quantum double. We describe the general extension theory of Hopf algebras and the nonAbelian cohomology spaces $\CH^2(H,A)$ which classify them. They form a new kind of topological quantum number in physics which is visible only in the quantum world. These same cross product quantisations can also be viewed as trivial quantum principal bundles in quantum group gauge theory. We also relate this…
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra. Ju and Cai introduced the notion of twisting of an $H$-module coalgebra. In this note, we study the relationship between twistings, crossed coproducts and Hopf-Galois coextensions. In particular, we show that a twisting of an $H$-Galois coextension remains $H$-Galois if the twisting is invertible.
The construction of link polynomials associated with finite dimensional representations of ribbon quasi-Hopf algebras is discussed in terms of the formulation of an appropriate Markov trace. We then show that this Markov trace is invariant under twisting of the quasi-Hopf structure, which in turn implies twisting invariance of the associated link polynomials.
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra. Any finite-dimensional lifting of $V\in {}^{H}_{H}\mathcal{YD}$ arising as a cocycle deformation of $A=\mathfrak{B}(V)\#H$ defines a twist in the Hopf algebra $A^*$, via dualization. We follow this recipe to write down explicit examples and show that it extends known techniques for defining twists. We also contribute with a detailed survey about twists in braided categories.
We show that a class of braided Hopf algebras, which includes the braided $SU_q(2)$ is obtained by twisting. We show further examples and demonstrate that twisting of bicovariant differential calculi gives braided bicovariant differential calculi.
In this paper we study the properties of Drinfeld's twisting for finite-dimensional Hopf algebras. We determine how the integral of the dual to a unimodular Hopf algebra $H$ changes under twisting of $H$. We show that the classes of cosemisimple unimodular, cosemisimple involutive, cosemisimple quasitriangular finite-dimensional Hopf algebras are stable under twisting. We also prove the cosemisimplicity of a coalgebra obtained by twisting of a cosemisimple unimodular Hopf algebra by two different twists on two sides (such twists are closely related to biGalois extensions), and describe the rep…
We introduce quasi-Hopf $*$-algebras i.e. quasi-Hopf algebras equipped with a conjugation (star) operation. The definition of quasi-Hopf $*$-algebras proposed ensures that the class of quasi-Hopf $*$-algebras is closed under twisting and additionally, that any Hopf $*$-algebra becomes a quasi-Hopf $*$-algebra via twisting. The basic properties of these algebras are developed. The relationship between the antipode and star structure is investigated. Quasi-triangular quasi-Hopf $*$-algebras are introduced and studied.
We show that certain twisting deformations of a family of supersolvable groups are simple as Hopf algebras. These groups are direct products of two generalized dihedral groups. Examples of this construction arise in dimensions 60 and p^2q^2, for prime numbers p, q with q dividing p-1. We also show that certain twisting deformation of the symmetric group is simple as a Hopf algebra. On the other hand, we prove that every twisting deformation of a nilpotent group is semisolvable. We conclude that the notions of simplicity and (semi)solvability of a semisimple Hopf algebra are not determined by i…
We find the general solution to the twisting equation in the tensor bialgebra $T({\bf R})$ of an associative unital ring ${\bf R}$ viewed as that of fundamental representation for a universal enveloping Lie algebra and its quantum deformations. We suggest a procedure of constructing twisting cocycles belonging to a given quasitriangular subbialgebra ${\cal H}\subset T({\bf R})$. This algorithm generalizes Reshetikhin's approach, which involves cocycles fulfilling the Yang-Baxter equation. Within this framework we study a class of quantized inhomogeneous Lie algebras related to associative ring…
We consider a generalisation of the Majid's mirror product of a Hopf algebra H, when one of the components of the product is replaced by a twist. This leads to a new "twisted mirror product" construction for cocycle bicrossproduct Hopf algebra where c is a 2-cocycle of "twisting" type. As an application, we obtain a canonical cocycle bicrossproduct for any Hopf algebra H.
We provide isomorphism results for Hopf algebras that are obtained as graded twistings of function algebras on finite groups by cocentral actions of cyclic groups. More generally , we also consider the isomorphism problem for finite-dimensional Hopf algebras fitting into abelian cocentral extensions. We apply our classification results to a number of concrete examples involving special linear groups over finite fields, alternating groups and dihedral groups.
We show how to construct, starting from a quasi-Hopf (super)algebra, central elements or Casimir invariants. We show that these central elements are invariant under quasi-Hopf twistings. As a consequence, the elliptic quantum (super)groups, which arise from twisting the normal quantum (super)groups, have the same Casimir invariants as the corresponding quantum (super)groups.
We show that a semisimple Hopf algebra A is group theoretical if and only if its Drinfeld double is a twisting of the Dijkgraaf-Pasquier-Roche quasi-Hopf algebra D^{omega}(Sigma), for some finite group Sigma and some 3-cocycle omega on Sigma. We show that semisimple Hopf algebras obtained as bicrossed products from an exact factorization of a finite group Sigma are group theoretical. We also describe their Drinfeld double as a twisting of D^{omega}(Sigma), for an appropriate 3-cocycle omega coming from the Kac exact sequence.
Given a Hopf algebra $A$ graded by a discrete group together with an action of the same group preserving the grading, we define a new Hopf algebra, which we call the graded twisting of $A$. If the action is adjoint, this new Hopf algebra is a twist of $A$ by a pseudo-$2$-cocycle. Analogous construction can be carried out for monoidal categories. As examples we consider graded twistings of the Hopf algebras of nondegenerate bilinear forms, their free products, hyperoctahedral quantum groups and $q$-deformations of compact semisimple Lie groups. As applications, we show that the analogues of the…
Transformation of operator algebras under Hopf algebra twist is studied. It is shown that that adjoint module algebras are stable under the twist. Applications to vector fields on non-commutative space-time are considered.
We show that some factors of the universal R-matrix generate a family of twistings for the standard Hopf structure of any quantized contragredient Lie (super)algebra of finite growth. As an application we prove that any two isomorphic superalgebras with different Cartan matrices have isomorphic q-deformations (as associative superalgebras) and their standard comultiplications are connected by such twisting. We present also an explicit relation between the generators of the second Drinfeld's realization and Cartan-Weyl generators of quantized affine nontwisted Kac-Moody algebras. Further develo…
Tensor operators associated with a given quantum Lie algebra admit a natural description in the R-matrix language. Here we employ the R-matrix approach to discuss the problem of fusion of tensor operators. The most interesting case is provided by the quantum WZNW model, where, by construction, we deal with sets of linearly independent tensor operators. In this case the fusion problem is equivalent to construction of an analogue F(p) of the twisting element F which is employed in Drinfeld's description of quasi-Hopf algebras. We discuss the construction of the twisting element F(p) in a general…
We use \cite{G} to study the algebra structure of twisted cotriangular Hopf algebras ${}_J\mathcal{O}(G)_{J}$, where $J$ is a Hopf $2$-cocycle for a connected nilpotent algebraic group $G$ over $\mathbb{C}$. In particular, we show that ${}_J\mathcal{O}(G)_{J}$ is an affine Noetherian domain with Gelfand-Kirillov dimension $\dim(G)$, and that if $G$ is unipotent and $J$ is supported on $G$, then ${}_J\mathcal{O}(G)_{J}\cong U(\g)$ as algebras, where $\g={\rm Lie}(G)$. We also determine the finite dimensional irreducible representations of ${}_J\mathcal{O}(G)_{J}$, by analyzing twisted function …
We introduce and study new families of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras with the Chevalley property that are not pointed nor semisimple arising as twistings of quantum linear spaces. These Hopf algebras generalize the examples introduced in [AEG], [EG1], [EG2].
In this work we investigate several important aspects of the structure theory of the recently introduced quasi-Hopf superalgebras (QHSAs), which play a fundamental role in knot theory and integrable systems. In particular we introduce the opposite structure and prove in detail (for the graded case) Drinfeld's result that the coproduct $Δ' \equiv (S\otimes S)\cdot T\cdot Δ\cdot S^{-1}$ induced on a QHSA is obtained from the coproduct $Δ$ by twisting. The corresponding ``Drinfeld twist'' $F_D$ is explicitly constructed, as well as its inverse, and we investigate the complete QHSA associated with…
Following the ideas of our previous works math.QA/0008232 (joint with Andruskiewitsch) and math.QA/0101049, we study families of triangular Hopf algebras obtained by twisting finite supergroups by a twist lying entirely in the odd part. These families are parametrized by data (G,V,u,B), where G is a finite group, V its finite dimensional representation, u a central element of G of order 2 acting by -1 on V, and B an element of S^2V. We fix the discrete data G,V,u, and find the set of isomorphism classes of the members of the family as Hopf algebras, in terms of the continuous parameter B. This…
We introduce the quasi-Hopf superalgebras which are $Z_2$ graded versions of Drinfeld's quasi-Hopf algebras. We describe the realization of elliptic quantum supergroups as quasi-triangular quasi-Hopf superalgebras obtained from twisting the normal quantum supergroups by twistors which satisfy the graded shifted cocycle condition, thus generalizing the quasi-Hopf twisting procedure to the supersymmetric case. Two types of elliptic quantum supergroups are defined, that is the face type $B_{q,λ}(G)$ and the vertex type $A_{q,p}[\hat{sl(n|n)}]$ (and $A_{q,p}[\hat{gl(n|n)}]$), where $G$ is any Kac-…
We introduce a more general version of the so-called L-R-smash product and study its relations with other kinds of crossed products (two-sided smash and crossed product and diagonal crossed product). We also give an interpretation of the L-R-smash product in terms of an L-R-twisting datum.
We study the group of group-like elements of a weak Hopf algebra and derive an analogue of Radford's formula for the fourth power of the antipode S, which implies that the antipode has a finite order modulo a trivial automorphism. We find a sufficient condition in terms of Tr(S^2) for a weak Hopf algebra to be semisimple, discuss relation between semisimplicity and cosemisimplicity, and apply our results to show that a dynamical twisting deformation of a semisimple Hopf algebra is cosemisimple.
We compute the Hochschild and Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomological dimensions of the universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, when the matrix of parameters is a generic asymmetry. Our main tools are considerations on the cohomologies of free product of Hopf algebras, and on the invariance of the cohomological dimensions under graded twisting by a finite abelian group.
We recall the abstract theory of Hopf algebra bicrossproducts and double cross products due to the author. We use it to develop some less-well known results about the quantum double as a twisting, as an extension and as $q$-Lorentz group.
We develop a general theory of Hopf image of a Hopf algebra representation, with the associated concept of inner faithful representation, modelled on the notion of faithful representation of a discrete group. We study several examples, including group algebras, enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, pointed Hopf algebras, function algebras, twistings and cotwistings, and we present a Tannaka duality formulation of the notion of Hopf image.
We continue the study of twisting of affine algebraic groups G (i.e., of Hopf 2-cocycles J for the function algebra O(G)), which was started in [EG1,EG2], and initiate the study of the associated one-sided twisted function algebras O(G)_J. We first show that J is supported on a closed subgroup H of G (defined up to conjugation), and that O(G)_J is finitely generated with center O(G/H). We then use it to study the structure of O(G)_J for connected nilpotent G. We show that in this case O(G)_J is a Noetherian domain, which is a simple algebra if and only if J is supported on G, and describe the …
In 1997 we proved that any triangular semisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic 0 is obtained from the group algebra k[G] of a finite group G, by twisting its comultiplication by a twist in the sense of Drinfeld. In this paper, we generalize this result to not necessarily finite-dimensional cotriangular Hopf algebras. Namely, our main result says that a cotriangular Hopf algebra A over k is obtained from a function algebra of a pro-algebraic group by twisting by a Hopf 2-cocycle, and possibly changing its R-form by a central grouplike element of A^* of orde…
We show how the Hopf algebra of rooted trees encodes the combinatorics of Epstein-Glaser renormalization and coordinate space renormalization in general. In particular we prove that the Epstein-Glaser time-ordered products can be obtained from the Hopf algebra by suitable Feynman rules, mapping trees to operator-valued distributions. Twisting the antipode with a renormalization map formally solves the Epstein-Glaser recursion and provides local counterterms due to the Hochschild 1-closedness of the grafting operator $B_+$.
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra that is $\mathbb Z$-graded as an algebra. We provide sufficient conditions for a 2-cocycle twist of $H$ to be a Zhang twist of $H$. In particular, we introduce the notion of a twisting pair for $H$ such that the Zhang twist of $H$ by such a pair is a 2-cocycle twist. We use twisting pairs to describe twists of Manin's universal quantum groups associated to quadratic algebras and provide twisting of solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation via the Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan construction.
We show that the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra appears as a quotient of $C(SU_{-1}(2))$, which means that the corresponding quantum group $G_{KP}$ can be regarded as a quantum subgroup of $SU_{-1}(2)$. We combine the fact that corepresentation category of the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra is a Tambara-Yamagami tensor category associated with the Krein 4-group and the method of graded twisting of Hopf algebras, to construct the Hopf *-homomorphism.
Given a Hopf algebra H and an algebra A that is an H-module algebra we consider the category of left H-modules and A-bimodules, where morphisms are just right A-linear maps (not necessarily H-equivariant). Given a twist F of H we then quantize (deform) H to H^F, A to A_\star and correspondingly the category of left H-modules and A-bimodules to the category of left H^F-modules and A_\star-bimodules. If we consider a quasitriangular Hopf algebra H, a quasi-commutative algebra A and quasi-commutative A-bimodules, we can further construct and study tensor products over A of modules and of morphism…
This paper together with the previous one (arXiv:hep-th/0604146) presents the detailed description of all quantum deformations of D=4 Lorentz algebra as Hopf algebra in terms of complex and real generators. We describe here in detail two quantum deformations of the D=4 Lorentz algebra o(3,1) obtained by twisting of the standard q-deformation U_{q}(o(3,1)). For the first twisted q-deformation an Abelian twist depending on Cartan generators of o(3,1) is used. The second example of twisting provides a quantum deformation of Cremmer-Gervais type for the Lorentz algebra. For completeness we describ…
Recall (math.QA/9812151) that the exponent of a finite-dimensional complex Hopf algebra H is the order of the Drinfeld element u of the Drinfeld double D(H) of H. Recall also that while this order may be infinite, the eigenvalues of u are always roots of unity (math.QA/9812151, Theorem 4.8); i.e., some power of u is always unipotent. We are thus naturally led to define the quasi-exponent of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra H to be the order of unipotency of u. The goal of the paper is to create a theory of quasi-exponent, which would be parallel to the theory of the exponent developed in math…
There are two notions of exponent of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras introduced and studied in the literature. In this note, we discuss and compare their properties including invariance and finiteness in this note. Specifically, one notion is invariant under twisting and taking the Drinfeld double, just like the other one. We also find that if the non-cosemisimplicity and dual Chevalley property hold, both exponents are infinite in characteristic $0$ but finite in positive characteristic.
We study Kuperberg invariants for sutured manifolds in the case of a semidirect product of an involutory Hopf superalgebra $H$ with its automorphism group $\text{Aut}(H)$. These are topological invariants of balanced sutured 3-manifolds endowed with a homomorphism of the fundamental group into $\text{Aut}(H)$ and possibly with a $\text{Spin}^c$ structure and a homology orientation. We show that these invariants are computed via a form of Fox calculus and that, if $H$ is $\mathbb{N}$-graded, they can be extended in a canonical way to polynomial invariants. When $H$ is an exterior algebra, we sh…
Twisted homomorphisms of bialgebras are bialgebra homomorphisms from the first into Drinfeld twistings of the second. They possess a composition operation extending composition of bialgebra homomorphisms. Gauge transformations of twists, compatible with adjacent homomorphisms, give rise to gauge transformation of twisted homomorphisms, which behave nicely with respect to compositions. Here we study (gauge classes of) twisted automorphisms of cocommutative Hopf algebras. After revising well-known relations between twists, twisted forms of bialgebras and $R$-matrices (for commutative bialgebras)…
Continuing our previous work on graded twisting of Hopf algebras and monoidal categories, we introduce a graded twisting construction for equivariant comodule algebras and module categories. As an example we study actions of quantum subgroups of $G\subset SL_{-1}(2)$ on $K_{-1}[x,y]$ and show that in most cases the corresponding invariant rings $K_{-1}[x,y]^G$ are invariant rings $K[x,y]^{G'}$ for the action of a classical subgroup $G'\subset SL(2)$. As another example we study Poisson boundaries of graded twisted categories and show that under the assumption of weak amenability they are grade…
Let $A$ be a Hopf algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic zero such that its coradical $H$ is a finite dimensional sub-Hopf algebra. Our main theorem shows that there is a gauge transformation $ζ$ on $A$ such that $A^ζ\cong Q#H$ where $A^ζ$ is the dual quasi-bialgebra obtained from $A$ by twisting its multiplication by $ζ$, $Q$ is a connected dual quasi-bialgebra in $^H_H\mathcal{YD}$ and $Q #H $ is a dual quasi-bialgebra called the bosonization of $Q$ by $H$.
Non-commutative torsors (equivalently, two-cocycles) for a Hopf algebra can be used to twist comodule algebras. After surveying and extending the literature on the subject, we prove a theorem that affords a presentation by generators and relations for the algebras obtained by such twisting. We give a number of examples, including new constructions of the quantum affine spaces and the quantum tori.
In a previous paper we prove that any semisimple triangular Hopf algebra A over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 (say the field of complex numbers C) is obtained from a finite group after twisting the ordinary comultiplication of its group algebra in the sense of Drinfeld; that is A=C[G]^J for some finite group G and a twist J\in C[G]\ot C[G]. In this paper we explicitly describe the representation theory of co-triangular semisimple Hopf algebras A^*=(C[G]^J)^* in terms of representations of some associated groups. As a corollary we prove that Kaplansky's 6th conjecture from 1…
We show that the octonions are a twisting of the group algebra of Z_2 x Z_2 x Z_2 in the quasitensor category of representations of a quasi-Hopf algebra associated to a group 3-cocycle. We consider general quasi-associative algebras of this type and some general constructions for them, including quasi-linear algebra and representation theory, and an automorphism quasi-Hopf algebra. Other examples include the higher 2^n-onion Cayley algebras and examples associated to Hadamard matrices.
We introduce the notion of a half-ribbon Hopf algebra, which is a ribbon Hopf algebra along with a distinguished element $t$ corresponding to twisting a ribbon by 180 degrees (the half-twist). We show that U_q(g) is a (topological) half-ribbon Hopf algebra, but only if one uses a modified ribbon element. We then discuss some consequences of using this modified ribbon element.
Let $A$ be a Hopf algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic 0 and suppose there is a coalgebra projection $π$ from $A$ to a sub-Hopf algebra $H$ that splits the inclusion. If the projection is $H$-bilinear, then $A$ is isomorphic to a biproduct $R #_ξH$ where $(R,ξ)$ is called a pre-bialgebra with cocycle in the category $_{H}^{H}\mathcal{YD}$. The cocycle $ξ$ maps $R \otimes R$ to $H$. Examples of this situation include the liftings of pointed Hopf algebras with abelian group of points $Γ$ as classified by Andruskiewitsch and Schneider [AS1]. One asks when such an $A$ can be twisted by a coc…
The Yang-Baxter equation admits two classes of elliptic solutions, the vertex type and the face type. On the basis of these solutions, two types of elliptic quantum groups have been introduced (Foda et al., Felder). Fronsdal made a penetrating observation that both of them are quasi-Hopf algebras, obtained by twisting the standard quantum affine algebra U_q(g). In this paper we present an explicit formula for the twistors in the form of an infinite product of the universal R matrix of U_q(g). We also prove the shifted cocycle condition for the twistors, thereby completing Fronsdal's findings. …
The universal $R$-matrix for a class of esoteric (non-standard) quantum groups ${\cal U}_q(gl(2N+1))$ is constructed as a twisting of the universal $R$-matrix ${\cal R}_S$ of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum algebras. The main part of the twisting element ${\cal F}$ is chosen to be the canonical element of appropriate pair of separated Hopf subalgebras (quantized Borel's ${\cal B}(N) \subset {\cal U}_q(gl(2N+1))$), providing the factorization property of ${\cal F}$. As a result, the esoteric quantum group generators can be expressed in terms of the Drinfeld-Jimbo ones.
One of the classical notions of group theory is the notion of the exponent of a group. The exponent of a group is the least common multiple of orders of its elements. In this paper we generalize the notion of exponent to Hopf algebras. We give five equivalent definitions of the exponent. Two of them are: 1) the exponent of H equals the order of the Drinfeld element u of the quantum double D(H); 2) the exponent of H is the order of the squared brading acting in the tensor square of the regular representation of D(H). We show that the exponent is invariant under twisting. We prove that for semis…
The Deligne-Getzler-Hinich--$\infty$-groupoid or Maurer-Cartan simplicial set of an $L_\infty$-algebra plays an important role in deformation theory and many other areas of mathematics. Unfortunately, this construction only works over a field of characteristic $0$. The goal of this paper is to show that the notions of Maurer-Cartan equation and Maurer-Cartan simplicial set can be defined for a much larger number of operads than just the $L_\infty$-operad. More precisely, we show that the Koszul dual of every unital Hopf cooperad (a cooperad in the category of unital associative algebras) with …
We systematically study noncommutative and nonassociative algebras A and their bimodules as algebras and bimodules internal to the representation category of a quasitriangular quasi-Hopf algebra. We enlarge the morphisms of the monoidal category of A-bimodules by internal homomorphisms, and describe explicitly their evaluation and composition morphisms. For braided commutative algebras A the full subcategory of symmetric A-bimodule objects is a braided closed monoidal category, from which we obtain an internal tensor product operation on internal homomorphisms. We describe how these structures…
In previous joint work with Eli Aljadeff we attached a generic Hopf Galois extension A(H,c) to each twisted algebra H(c) obtained from a Hopf algebra H by twisting its product with the help of a cocycle c. The algebra A(H,c) is a flat deformation of H(c) over a "big" central subalgebra B(H,c) and can be viewed as the noncommutative analogue of a versal torsor in the sense of Serre. After surveying the results on A(H,c) obtained with Aljadeff, we establish three new results: we present a systematic method to construct elements of the commutative algebra B(H,c), we show that a certain important …
Recall that a triangular Hopf algebra A is said to have the Chevalley property if the tensor product of any two simple A-modules is semisimple, or, equivalently, if the radical of A is a Hopf ideal. There are two reasons to study this class of triangular Hopf algebras: First, it contains all known examples of finite-dimensional triangular Hopf algebras; second, it can be, in a sense, "completely understood". Namely, it was shown in our previous work with Andruskiewitsch that any finite-dimensional triangular Hopf algebra with the Chevalley property is obtained by twisting of a finite-dimension…
One of the most fundamental problems in the theory of finite- dimensional Hopf algebras is their classification over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic 0. This problem is extremely difficult, hence people restrict it to certain classes of Hopf algebras, e.g. to semisimple ones. Semisimple Hopf algebras deserve to be considered as "quantum" analogue of finite groups, but even so, the problem remains extremely hard (even in low dimensions) and very little is known. A great boost to the theory of Hopf algebras was given by Drinfeld who invented the fundamental class of (quasi)trian…
We compute the quantum double, braiding and other canonical Hopf algebra constructions for the bicrossproduct Hopf algebra $H$ associated to the factorization of a finite group into two subgroups. The representations of the quantum double are described by a notion of bicrossed bimodules, generalising the cross modules of Whitehead. We also show that self-duality structures for the bicrossproduct Hopf algebras are in one-one correspondence with factor-reversing group isomorphisms. The example $Z_6Z_6$ is given in detail. We show further that the quantum double $D(H)$ is the twisting of $D(X)$ b…
The Drinfeld twist for the opposite quasi-Hopf algebra is determined and is shown to be related to the (second) Drinfeld twist. The twisted Drinfeld twist is investigated. In the quasi-triangular case it is shown that the Drinfeld u operator arises from the equivalence of the opposite quasi-Hopf algebra to the quasi-Hopf algebra induced by twisting with the R-matrix. The Altschuler-Coste u operator arises in a similar way and is shown to be closely related to the Drinfeld u operator. The quasi-cocycle condition is introduced, and is shown to play a central role in the uniqueness of twisted str…
