Quasialgebra structure of the octonions

We show that the octonions are a twisting of the group algebra of Z_2 x Z_2 x Z_2 in the quasitensor category of representations of a quasi-Hopf algebra associated to a group 3-cocycle. We consider general quasi-associative algebras of this type and some general constructions for them, including quasi-linear algebra and representation theory, and an automorphism quasi-Hopf algebra. Other examples include the higher 2^n-onion Cayley algebras and examples associated to Hadamard matrices.

Braided Cyclic Cocycles and Non-Associative Geometry

We use monoidal category methods to study the noncommutative geometry of nonassociative algebras obtained by a Drinfeld-type cochain twist. Gauge theory on nonassociative spaces

We show how to do gauge theory on the octonions and other nonassociative algebras such as `fuzzy $R^4$' models proposed in string theory. We use the theory of quasialgebras obtained by cochain twist introduced previously. The gauge theory in this case is twisting-equivalent to usual gauge theory on the underlying classical space. Octonionic representations of Clifford algebras and triality

The theory of representations of Clifford algebras is extended to employ the division algebra of the octonions or Cayley numbers. In particular, questions that arise from the non-associativity and non-commutativity of this division algebra are answered. Octonionic representations for Clifford algebras lead to a notion of octonionic spinors and are used to give octonionic representations of the respective orthogonal groups. Finally, the triality automorphisms are shown to exhibit a manifest $\perm_3 \times SO(8)$ structure in this framework.

Hopf quasigroups and the algebraic 7-sphere

We introduce the notions of Hopf quasigroup and Hopf coquasigroup $H$ generalising the classical notion of an inverse property quasigroup $G$ expressed respectively as a quasigroup algebra $k G$ and an algebraic quasigroup $k[G]$. Recurrence relations for symplectic realization of (quasi)-Poisson structures

We describe the quantization of a four-dimensional locally non-geometric M-theory background dual to a twisted three-torus by deriving a phase space star product for deformation quantization of quasi-Poisson brackets related to the nonassociative algebra of octonions. Algebraic Aspects of Boundaries in the Kitaev Quantum Double Model

We provide a systematic treatment of boundaries based on subgroups $K\subseteq G$ with the Kitaev quantum double $D(G)$ model in the bulk. The boundary sites are representations of a $*$-subalgebra $Ξ\subseteq D(G)$ and we explicate its structure as a strong $*$-quasi-Hopf algebra dependent on a choice of transversal $R$.
