We develop a notion of nonlinear expectation --G-expectation-- generated by a nonlinear heat equation with infinitesimal generator G. We first study multi-dimensional G-normal distributions. With this nonlinear distribution we can introduce our G-expectation under which the canonical process is a multi dimensional G-Brownian motion. We then establish the related stochastic calculus, especially stochastic integrals of Ito's type with respect to our G-Brownian motion and derive the related Ito's formula. We have also obtained the existence and uniqueness of stochastic differential equation under our G-expectation.
By using Malliavin calculus and multiple Wiener-Itô integrals, we study the existence and the regularity of stochastic currents defined as Skorohod (divergence) integrals with respect to the Brownian motion and to the fractional Brownian motion. We consider also the multidimensional multiparameter case and we compare the regularity of the current as a distribution in negative Sobolev spaces with its regularity in Watanabe space.
In this paper, we study rough path properties of stochastic integrals of Itô's type and Stratonovich's type with respect to $G$-Brownian motion. The roughness of $G$-Brownian Motion is estimated and then the pathwise Norris lemma in $G$-framework is obtained.
This paper begins by giving an historical context to fractional Brownian Motion and its development. Section 2 then introduces the fractional calculus, from the Riemann-Liouville perspective. In Section 3, we introduce Brownian motion and its properties, which is the framework for deriving the Itô integral. In Section 4 we finally introduce the Itô calculus and discuss the derivation of the Itô integral. Section 4.1 continues the discussion about the Itô calculus by introducing the Itô formula, which is the analogue to the chain rule in classical calculus. In Section 5 we present our formal de…
We introduce a Multifractal Random Walk (MRW) defined as a stochastic integral of an infinitely divisible noise with respect to a dependent fractional Brownian motion. Using the techniques of the Malliavin calculus, we study the existence of this object and its properties. We then propose a continuous time model in finance that captures the main properties observed in the empirical data, including the leverage effect. We illustrate our result by numerical simulations.
Under the framework of G-expectation and G-Brownian motion, we introduce Itô's integral for stochastic processes without assuming quasi-continuity. Then we can obtain Itô's integral on stopping time interval. This new formulation permits us to obtain Itô's formula for a general C^{1,2}-function, which essentially generalizes the previous results of Peng [20, 21, 22, 23, 24] as well as those of Gao [8] and Zhang et al. [26].
Contributions of the present paper consist of two parts. In the first one, we contribute to the theory of stochastic calculus for signed measures. For instance, we provide some results permitting to characterize martingales and Brownian motion both defined under a signed measure. We also prove that the uniformly integrable martingales (defined with respect to a signed measure) can be expressed as relative martingales and we provide some new results to the study of the class $Σ(H)$ which appeared for the first time in \cite{f} and studied in \cite{f,e,o}. The second part is devoted to the const…
We introduce a notion of nonlinear expectation --G--expectation-- generated by a nonlinear heat equation with infinitesimal generator G. We first discuss the notion of G-standard normal distribution. With this nonlinear distribution we can introduce our G-expectation under which the canonical process is a G--Brownian motion. We then establish the related stochastic calculus, especially stochastic integrals of Ito's type with respect to our G--Brownian motion and derive the related Ito's formula. We have also give the existence and uniqueness of stochastic differential equation under our G-expe…
We prove that a g-expectation is a Choquet expectation if and only if g is independent of y and is linear in z, i.e., classical linear expectation, without the assumptions that the deterministic generator g is continuous in t and the dimension of the Brownian motion is one.
In this paper, we define a dynamically consistent conditional G-expectation in space $\mathbb{L}^{p}$, and give the related stochastic calculus of Itô's type, especially get Itô's formula for a general $C^{1,2}$-function.
Stochastic calculus with respect to fractional Brownian motion (fBm) has attracted a lot of interest in recent years, motivated in particular by applications in finance and Internet traffic modeling. Multifractional Brownian motion (mBm) is a Gaussian extension of fBm that allows to control the pointwise regularity of the paths of the process and to decouple it from its long range dependence properties. This generalization is obtained by replacing the constant Hurst parameter H of fBm by a function h(t). Multifractional Brownian motion has proved useful in many applications, including the ones…
Stochastic integration \textit{wrt} Gaussian processes has raised strong interest in recent years, motivated in particular by its applications in Internet traffic modeling, biomedicine and finance. The aim of this work is to define and develop a White Noise Theory-based anticipative stochastic calculus with respect to all Gaussian processes that have an integral representation over a real (maybe infinite) interval. Very rich, this class of Gaussian processes contains, among many others, Volterra processes (and thus fractional Brownian motion) as well as processes the regularity of which varies…
In this book, we introduce a new approach of sublinear expectation to deal with the problem of probability and distribution model uncertainty. We a new type of (robust) normal distributions and the related central limit theorem under sublinear expectation. We also present a new type of Brownian motion under sublinear expectations and the related stochastic calculus of Ito's type. The results provide robust tools for the problem of probability model uncertainty arising from financial risk management, statistics and stochastic controls.
Let $B=(B_1(t),\ldots,B_d(t))$ be a $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $α<1/4$. Defining properly iterated integrals of $B$ is a difficult task because of the low Hölder regularity index of its paths. Yet rough path theory shows it is the key to the construction of a stochastic calculus with respect to $B$, or to solving differential equations driven by $B$. We show in this paper how to obtain second-order iterated integrals as the limit when the ultra-violet cut-off goes to infinity of iterated integrals of weakly interacting fields defined using the tools of construc…
We study the asymptotic behavior as $n\to \infty$ of the sequence $$S_{n}=\sum_{i=0}^{n-1} K(n^α B^{H_{1}}_{i}) (B^{H_{2}}_{i+1}-B^{H_{2}}_{i})$$ where $B^{H_{1}}$ and $B^{H_{2}}$ are two independent fractional Brownian motions, $K$ is a kernel function and the bandwidth parameter $α$ satisfies certain hypotheses in terms of $H_{1}$ and $H_{2}$. Its limiting distribution is a mixed normal law involving the local time of the fractional Brownian motion $B^{H_{1}}$. We use the techniques of the Malliavin calculus with respect to the fractional Brownian motion.
We provide a general approach to construct a stochastic process with a given consistent family of finite dimensional distributions under a nonlinear expectation space. We use this approach to construct a generalized Gaussian process under a sublinear expectation and a q-Brownian motion. The later one is under a complex-valued linear expectation, with which a new type of Feynman-Kac formula can be derived to represent the solution of a Schrödinger equation.
Let B be a Brownian motion and T its first hitting time of the level 1. For U a uniform random variable independent of B, we study in depth the distribution of T^{-1/2}B_{UT}, that is the rescaled Brownian motion sampled at uniform time. In particular, we show that this variable is centered.
This article is concerned with modulus of continuity of Brownian local times. Specifically, we focus on 3 closely related problems: (a) Limit theorem for a Brownian modulus of continuity involving Riesz potentials, where the limit law is an intricate Gaussian mixture. (b) Central limit theorems for the projections of L2 modulus of continuity for a 1-dimensional Brownian motion. (c) Extension of the second result to a 2-dimensional Brownian motion. Our proofs rely on a combination of stochastic calculus and Malliavin calculus tools, plus a thorough analysis of singular integrals.
Following the approach and the terminology introduced in [A. Deya and R. Schott, On the rough paths approach to non-commutative stochastic calculus, J. Funct. Anal., 2013], we construct a product L{é}vy area above the $q$-Brownian motion (for $q\in [0,1)$) and use this object to study differential equations driven by the process. We also provide a detailled comparison between the resulting "rough" integral and the stochastic "It{ô}" integral exhibited by Donati-Martin in [C. Donati-Martin, Stochastic integration with respect to $q$ Brownian motion, Probab. Theory Related Fields, 2003].
In this paper we give some basic and important properties of several typical Banach spaces of functions of $G$-Brownian motion pathes induced by a sublinear expectation--G-expectation. Many results can be also applied to more general situations. A generalized version of Kolmogorov's criterion for continuous modification of a stochastic process is also obtained. The results can be applied to continuous time dynamic and coherent risk measures in finance in particular for path-dependence risky positions under situations of volatility model uncertainty.
We consider anticipative Stratonovich stochastic differential equations driven by some stochastic process (not necessarily a semi-martingale). No adaptedness of initial point or vector fields is assumed. Under a simple condition on the stochastic process, we show that the unique solution of the above SDE understood in the rough path sense is actually a Stratonovich solution. This condition is satisfied by the Brownian motion and the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 1/4. As application, we obtain rather flexible results such as support theorems, large deviation princ…
We give a variational formulation for $-\log\mathbb{E}_ν\left[e^{-f}|\mathcal{F}_t\right]$ for a large class of measures $ν$. We give a refined entropic characterization of the invertibility of some perturbations of the identity. We also discuss the attainability of the infimum in the variational formulation and obtain a Prékopa-Leindler theorem for conditional expectations.
In this paper we prove the existence of strong solutions to a SDE with a generalized drift driven by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion for small Hurst parameters H<1/2. Here the generalized drift is given as the local time of the unknown solution process, which can be considered an extension of the concept of a skew Brownian motion to the case of fractional Brownian motion. Our approach for the construction of strong solutions is new and relies on techniques from Malliavin calculus combined with a "local time variational calculus" argument.
We compute Greeks for stochastic volatility models driven by Brownian informations. We use the Malliavin method introduced for deterministic volatility models.
Using the Malliavin calculus with respect to Gaussian processes and the multiple stochastic integrals we derive Itô's and Tanaka's formulas for the $d$-dimensional bifractional Brownian motion.
We give a very simple and elementary proof of the existence of a weakly compact family of probability measures $\{P_θ:θ\in Θ\}$ to represent an important sublinear expectation--G-expectation $\mathbb{E}[\cdot]$. We also give a concrete approximation of a bounded continuous function $X(ω)$ by an increasing sequence of cylinder functions $L_{ip}(Ω)$ in order to prove that $C_{b}(Ω)$ belongs to the $\mathbb{E}[|\cdot|]$-completion of the $L_{ip}(Ω)$.
We investigate the process of eigenvalues of a symmetric matrix-valued process which upper diagonal entries are independent one-dimensional Hölder continuous Gaussian processes of order gamma in (1/2,1). Using the stochastic calculus with respect to the Young's integral we show that these eigenvalues do not collide at any time with probability one. When the matrix process has entries that are fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter H in (1/2,1), we find a stochastic differential equation in a Malliavin calculus sense for the eigenvalues of the corresponding matrix fractional Brownian …
In this paper, we establish Girsanov's formula for $G$-Brownian motion. Peng (2007, 2008) constructed $G$-Brownian motion on the space of continuous paths under a sublinear expectation called $G$-expectation; as obtained by Denis et al. (2011), $G$-expectation is represented as the supremum of linear expectations with respect to martingale measures of a certain class. Our argument is based on this representation with an enlargement of the associated class of martingale measures, and on Girsanov's formula for martingales in the classical stochastic analysis. The methodology differs from that of…
By using Malliavin calculus, Bismut derivative formulae are established for a class of stochastic (functional) differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions. As applications, Harnack type inequalities and strong Feller property are presented.
The classical law of the iterated logarithm (LIL for short)as fundamental limit theorems in probability theory play an important role in the development of probability theory and its applications. Strassen (1964) extended LIL to large classes of functional random variables, it is well known as the invariance principle for LIL which provide an extremely powerful tool in probability and statistical inference. But recently many phenomena show that the linearity of probability is a limit for applications, for example in finance, statistics. As while a nonlinear expectation--- G-expectation has att…
Our purpose is to investigate properties for processes with stationary and independent increments under $G$-expectation. As applications, we prove the martingale characterization to $G$-Brownian motion and present a decomposition for generalized $G$-Brownian motion.
In this paper, we investigate suffcient and necessary conditions for the comparison theorem of neutral stochastic functional differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion (G-NSFDE). Moreover, the results extend the ones in the linear expectation case [1] and nonlinear expectation framework [8].
The main tool for stochastic calculus with respect to a multidimensional process $B$ with small Hölder regularity index is rough path theory. Once $B$ has been lifted to a rough path, a stochastic calculus -- as well as solutions to stochastic differential equations driven by $B$ -- follow by standard arguments. Although such a lift has been proved to exist by abstract arguments \cite{LyoVic07}, a first general, explicit construction has been proposed in \cite{Unt09,Unt09bis} under the name of Fourier normal ordering. The purpose of this short note is to convey the main ideas of the Fourier no…
In this note, we investigate the density of the exponential functional of the fractional Brownian motion. Based on the techniques of Malliavin's calculus, we provide a log-normal upper bound for the density.
For a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H> \frac12$ it is known that the classical Euler scheme has the rate of convergence $2H-1$. In this paper we introduce a new numerical scheme which is closer to the classical Euler scheme for diffusion processes, in the sense that it has the rate of convergence $2H-\frac12$. In particular, the rate of convergence becomes $\frac 12$ when $H$ is formally set to $\frac 12$ (the rate of Euler scheme for classical Brownian motion). The rate of weak convergence is also deduced for this scheme. The mai…
In this paper we derive a Bismut-Elworthy-Li type formula with respect to strong solutions to singular stochastic differential equations (SDE's) with additive noise given by a multi-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H<1/2$. "Singular" here means that the drift vector field of such equations is allowed to be merely bounded and integrable. As an application we use this representation formula for the study of price sensitivities of financial claims based on a stock price model with stochastic volatility, whose dynamics is described by means of fractional Brownian motion…
In this paper we present a new method for the construction of strong solutions of SDE's with merely integrable drift coefficients driven by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H < 1/2. Furthermore, we prove the rather surprising result of the higher order Frechet differentiability of stochastic flows of such SDE's in the case of a small Hurst parameter. In establishing these results we use techniques from Malliavin calculus combined with new ideas based on a "local time variational calculus". We expect that our general approach can be also applied to the study of…
In this paper we state and prove a central limit theorem for the finite-dimensional laws of the quadratic variations process of certain fractional Brownian sheets. The main tool of this article is a method developed by Nourdin and Nualart based on the Malliavin calculus.
We introduce the notion of {\em covariance measure structure} for square integrable stochastic processes. We define Wiener integral, we develop a suitable formalism for stochastic calculus of variations and we make Gaussian assumptions only when necessary. Our main examples are finite quadratric variation processes with stationary increments and the bifractional Brownian motion.
In this paper we obtain a rate of convergence in the central limit theorem for high order weighted Hermite variations of the fractional Brownian motion. The proof is based on the techniques of Malliavin calculus and the quantitative stable limit theorems proved by Nourdin, Nualart and Peccati in 2016.
This paper is concerned with the connection between G-Brownian Motion and analytic functions. We introduce the complex version of sublinear expectation, and then do the stochastic analysis in this framework. Furthermore, the conformal G-Brownian Motion is introduced together with a representation, and the corresponding conformal invariance is shown.
In this note, we investigate the continuity in law with respect to the Hurst index of the exponential functional of the fractional Brownian motion. Based on the techniques of Malliavin's calculus, we provide an explicit bound on the Kolmogorov distance between two functionals with different Hurst indexes.
A functional limit theorem for the empirical measure-valued process of eigenvalues of a matrix fractional Brownian motion is obtained. It is shown that the limiting measure-valued process is the non-commutative fractional Brownian motion recently introduced by Nourdin and Taqqu. Young and Skorohod stochastic integral techniques and fractional calculus are the main tools used.
A stochastic calculus is given for processes described by stochastic integrals with respect to fractional Brownian motions and Rosenblatt processes somewhat analogous to the stochastic calculus for Itô processes. These processes for this stochastic calculus arise naturally from a stochastic chain rule for functionals of Rosenblatt processes; and some Itô-type expressions are given here. Furthermore, there is some analysis of these results for their applications to problems using Rosenblatt noise.
We prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for solutions of multidimensional, time dependent, stochastic differential equations driven simultaneously by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H>1/2 and a multidimensional standard Brownian motion. The proof relies on some a priori estimates, which are obtained using the methods of fractional integration, and the classical Ito stochastic calculus. The existence result is based on the Yamada-Watanabe theorem.
In this paper we study the stochastic differential equations driven by $G$-Brownian motion ($G$-SDEs for short). We extend the notion of conditional $G$-expectation from deterministic time to the more general optional time situation. Then, via this conditional expectation, we develop the strong Markov property for $G$-SDEs. In particular, we obtain the strong Markov property for $G$-Brownian motion. Some applications including the reflection principle for $G$-Brownian motion are also provided.
The objective of this paper is to derive a representation of symmetric G-martingales as stochastic integrals with respect to the G-Brownian motion. For this end, we first study some extensions of stochastic calculus with respect to G-martingales under the sublinear expectation spaces.
In this note, we consider Jensen's inequality for the nonlinear expectation associated with backward SDEs driven by $G$-Brownian motion ($G$-BSDEs for short). At first, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for $G$-BSDEs under which one-dimensional Jensen inequality holds. Second, we prove that for $n>1$, the $n$-dimensional Jensen inequality holds for any nonlinear expectation if and only if the nonlinear expectation is linear, which is essentially due to Jia (Arch. Math. 94 (2010), 489-499). As a consequence, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for $G$-BSDEs under which the $…
We obtain a maximum principle for stochastic control problem of general controlled stochastic differential systems driven by fractional Brownian motions (of Hurst parameter $H>1/2$). This maximum principle specifies a system of equations that the optimal control must satisfy (necessary condition for the optimal control). This system of equations consists of a backward stochastic differential equation driven by both fractional Brownian motion and the corresponding underlying standard Brownian motion. In addition to this backward equation, the maximum principle also involves the Malliavin deriva…
The $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion (FBM for short) $B_t=((B_t^{(1)},...,B_t^{(d)}),t\in\mathbb{R})$ with Hurst exponent $α$, $α\in(0,1)$, is a $d$-dimensional centered, self-similar Gaussian process with covariance ${\mathbb{E}}[B_s^{(i)}B _t^{(j)}]={1/2}δ_{i,j}(|s|^{2α}+|t|^{2α}-|t-s|^{2 α}).$ The long-standing problem of defining a stochastic integration with respect to FBM (and the related problem of solving stochastic differential equations driven by FBM) has been addressed successfully by several different methods, although in each case with a restriction on the range of eithe…
We introduce a variational theory for processes adapted to the multi-dimensional Brownian motion filtration that provides a differential structure allowing to describe infinitesimal evolution of Wiener functionals at very small scales. The main novel idea is to compute the "sensitivities" of processes, namely derivatives of martingale components and a weak notion of infinitesimal generators, via a finite-dimensional approximation procedure based on controlled inter-arrival times and approximating martingales. The theory comes with convergence results that allow to interpret a large class of Wi…
In this paper we consider a class of stochastic differential equations driven by subordinate Brownian motion with Markovian switching. We use Malliavin calculus to study the smoothness of the density for the solution under uniform Hörmander's type condition.
In this paper we prove, for small Hurst parameters, the higher order differentiability of a stochastic flow associated with a stochastic differential equation driven by an additive multi-dimensional fractional Brownian noise, where the bounded variation part is given by the local time of the unknown solution process. The proof of this result relies on Fourier analysis based variational calculus techniques and on intrinsic properties of the fractional Brownian motion.
In this paper we study a singular stochastic differential equation driven by an additive fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H>\frac 12$. Under some assumptions on the drift, we show that there is a unique solution, which has moments of all orders. We also apply the techniques of Malliavin calculus to prove that the solution has an absolutely continuous law at any time $t>0$.
We give a stochastic calculus proof of the Central Limit Theorem \[ {\int (L^{x+h}_{t}- L^{x}_{t})^{2} dx- 4ht\over h^{3/2}} \stackrel{\mathcal{L}}{\Longrightarrow}c(\int (L^{x}_{t})^{2} dx)^{1/2} η\] as $h\to 0$ for Brownian local time $L^{x}_{t}$. Here $η$ is an independent normal random variable with mean zero and variance one.
Given a fractional Brownian motion \,\,$(B_{t}^{H})_{t\geq 0}$,\, with Hurst parameter \,$> 1/2$\,\,we study the properties of all solutions of \,\,: {equation} X_{t}=B_{t}^{H}+\int_0^t X_{u}dμ(u), \;\; 0\leq t\leq 1{equation} A different stochastic calculus is required for the process because it is not a semimartingale.
