We give a holomorphic extension result from non generic CR submanifold of $\C^L$ of positive CR dimension. We consider $N$ a non generic CR submanifold given by $N=\{\n,h(\n)\}$ where $\n$ is a generic submanifold of some $\C^{\ell}$ and $h$ is a CR map from $\n$ into $\C^n$. We prove that if $\n$ is a hypersurface then any CR distribution on $N$ extends holomorphically to a complex transversal wedge, we then generalize this result for arbitrary $\n$ in the case where the graphing function $h$ is decomposable at some $p'\in \n$. We show that any CR distribution on $N$ that is decomposable at $p=(p',h(p'))$ extends holomorphically to a complex transversal wedge.
We show that a holomorphic mapping sending one generic submanifold into another of the same dimension is CR transversal to the target submanifold provided that the source manifold is of finite type and the map is of generic full rank. This result and its corollaries completely resolve two questions posed by Linda P. Rothschild and the first author in a paper from 2006.
We define a new local invariant (called degeneracy) associated to a triple (M,M',H), where M and M' are real submanifolds of C^N and C^N', respectively, and H: M->M' is either a holomorphic map, a formal holomorphic map, or a smooth CR-map. We use this invariant to find sufficient conditions under which finite jet dependence, convergence and algebraicity results hold.
Given $N$ a non generic smooth CR submanifold of $\C^L$, $N=\{(\n,h(\n))\}$ where $\n$ is generic in $\C^{L-n}$ and $h$ is a CR map from $\n$ into $\C^n$. We prove, using only elementary tools, that if $h$ is decomposable at $p'\in \n$ then any decomposable CR distribution on $N$ at $p=(p',h(p'))$ extends holomorphically to a complex transversal wedge. This gives an elementary proof of the well known equivalent for totally real non generic submanifolds, i.e if $N$ is a smooth totally real submanifold of $\C^L$ any continuous function on $N$ admits a holomorphic extension to a complex transvers…
It is shown that a germ of a holomorphic mapping sending a real-analytic generic submanifold of finite type into another is determined by its projection on the Segre variety of the target manifold. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for a germ of a mapping into the Segre variety of the target manifold to be the projection of a holomorphic mapping sending the source manifold into the target. An application to the biholomorphic equivalence problem is also given.
In this paper we establish some general results on local behavior of holomorphic functions along complex submanifolds of $\Co^{N}$. As a corollary, we present multi-dimensional generalizations of an important result of Coman and Poletsky on Bernstein type inequalities on transcendental curves in $\Co^{2}$.
We prove that pseudo-holomorphic discs attached to a maximal totally real submanifold inherit their regularity from the regularity of the submanifold and of the almost complex structure. The proof is based on the computation of an explicit lower bound for the Kobayashi metric in almost complex manifolds, which also yields explicit estimates of Hölderian norms of such discs.
We give some results concerning the smoothness of the image of a real-analytic submanifold in complex space under the action of a finite holomorphic mapping. For instance, if the submanifold is not contained in a proper complex subvariety, we give a necessary and sufficient condition guaranteeing that its image is smooth and the mapping is transversal to the image.
The purpose of this paper is to organize some results on the local geometry of CR singular real-analytic manifolds that are images of CR manifolds via a CR map that is a diffeomorphism onto its image. We find a necessary (sufficient in dimension 2) condition for the diffeomorphism to extend to a finite holomorphic map. The multiplicity of this map is a biholomorphic invariant that is precisely the Moser invariant of the image when it is a Bishop surface with vanishing Bishop invariant. In higher dimensions, we study Levi-flat CR singular images and we prove that the set of CR singular points m…
In this notes, we characterize discrete subgroups of PU(2,1), holomorphic isometric group of complex hyperbolic space, which have an invariant totally geodesic submanifold.
We establish results on holomorphic extension of CR-mappings of class $C^\infty$ between a real-analytic CR-submanifold of $\C^N$ and a real-algebraic CR-submanifold of $\C^{N'}$.
Let $M \subset {\mathbb{C}}^{n+1}$, $n \geq 2$, be a real codimension two CR singular real-analytic submanifold that is nondegenerate and holomorphically flat. We prove that every real-analytic function on $M$ that is CR outside the CR singularities extends to a holomorphic function in a neighborhood of $M$. Our motivation is to prove the following analogue of the Hartogs-Bochner theorem. Let $Ω\subset {\mathbb{C}}^n \times {\mathbb{R}}$, $n \geq 2$, be a bounded domain with a connected real-analytic boundary such that $\partial Ω$ has only nondegenerate CR singularities. We prove that if $f \…
The Umehara algebra is studied with motivation on the problem of the non-existence of common complex submanifolds. In this paper, we prove some new results in Umehara algebra and obtain some applications. In particular, if a complex manifolds admits a holomorphic polynomial isometric immersion to one indefinite complex space form, then it cannot admits a holomorphic isometric immersion to another indefinite complex space form of different type. Other consequences include the non-existence of the common complex submanifolds for indefinite complex projective space or hyperbolic space and a compl…
We consider (small) algebraic deformations of germs of real-algebraic CR submanifolds in complex space and study the biholomorphic equivalence problem for such deformations. We show that two algebraic deformations of minimal holomorphically nondegenerate real-algebraic CR submanifolds are holomorphically equivalent if and only if they are algebraically equivalent.
Nirenberg and Spencer posed the question whether the germ of a compact complex submanifold in a complex manifold is determined by its infinitesimal neighborhood of finite order when the normal bundle is sufficiently positive. To study the problem for a larger class of submanifolds, including free rational curves, we reformulate the question in the setting of families of submanifolds and their infinitesimal neighborhoods. When the submanifolds have no nonzero vector fields, we prove that it is sufficient to consider only first-order neighborhoods to have an affirmative answer to the reformulate…
We consider a smooth CR mapping $f$ from a real-analytic generic submanifold $M$ in $\bC^N$ into $\bC^N$. For $M$ of finite type and essentially finite at a point $p\in M$, and $f$ formally finite at $p$, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for $f$ to extend as a holomorphic mapping in some neighborhood of $p$. In a similar vein, we consider a formal holomorphic mapping $H$ and give a necessary and sufficient condition for $H$ to be convergent.
It is proved that a germ of a real analytic CR map from a smooth real-analytic minimal CR manifold M to an essentially finite real-algebraic generic submanifold M' of P^N of the same CR-dimension extends as a holomorphic correspondence along M. Applications are given for pseudoconcave submanifolds of P^N.
We show the intersection of a compact almost complex subvariety of dimension $4$ and a compact almost complex submanifold of codimension $2$ is a $J$-holomorphic curve. This is a generalization of positivity of intersections for $J$-holomorphic curves in almost complex $4$-manifolds to higher dimensions. As an application, we discuss pseudoholomorphic sections of a complex line bundle. We introduce a method to produce $J$-holomorphic curves using the differential geometry of almost Hermitian manifolds. When our main result is applied to pseudoholomorphic maps, we prove the singularity subset o…
This paper stresses the strong link between the existence of partial holomorphic connections on the normal bundle of a foliation seen as a quotient of the ambient tangent bundle and the extendability of a foliation to an infinitesimal neighborhood of a submanifold. We find the obstructions to extendability and thanks to the theory developed we obtain some new Khanedani-Lehmann-Suwa type index theorems.
For the first obstruction to extending a holomorphic vector bundle from a submanifold of a complex manifold found by Griffiths we give an explicit formula in terms of the Atiyah class of the bundle.
Let $M$ be a closed complex submanifold in ${\mathbb C}^N$ with the complete Kähler metric induced by the Euclidean metric. Several finiteness theorems on the $L^p$ Bergman space of holomorphic sections of a given Hermitian line bundle $L$ over $M$ and the associated $L^2$ cohomology groups are obtained. Some infiniteness theorems are also given in order to test the accuracy of finiteness theorems. As applications we obtain some rigidity results concerning growth of curvatures.
In this paper, we explore holomorphic Segre preserving maps. First, we investigate holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending the complexification $\mathcal{M}$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M \subseteq \C^N$ of finite type at some point $p$ into the complexification $\mathcal{M}'$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M' \subseteq \C^{N'}$, finitely nondegenerate at some point $p'$. We prove that for a fixed $M$ and $M'$, the germs at $(p,\bar{p})$ of Segre submersive holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending $(\M,(p,\bar{p}))$ into $(\M',(p', \bar{p}'))$ can be parametrized by the…
We give positive answer to a conjecture by Agranovsky. A continuous function on the sphere which has separate holomorphic extension along the set of complex lines passing through three non aligned interior points, is the trace of a holomorphic function in the ball.
Let A be a domain of the boundary of a strictly pseudoconvex domain Ωof C^n and M a smooth, closed, maximally complex submanifold of A. We find a subdomain \widetilde A of Ω, depending only on Ωand A, and a complex subvariety W of \widetilde A such that bW\cap A = M. Moreover, a generalization to analytic sets of depth at least 4 is given.
In a setting of a complex manifold with a fixed positive line bundle and a submanifold, we consider the optimal Ohsawa-Takegoshi extension operator, sending a holomorphic section of the line bundle on the submanifold to the holomorphic extension of it on the ambient manifold with the minimal $L^2$-norm. We show that for a tower of submanifolds in the semiclassical setting, i.e. when we consider a large tensor power of the line bundle, the extension operators satisfy transitivity property modulo some small defect, which can be expressed through Toeplitz type operators. We calculate the first si…
We study semiclassical Gevrey pseudodifferential operators, acting on exponentially weighted spaces of entire holomorphic functions. The symbols of such operators are Gevrey functions defined on suitable I-Lagrangian submanifolds of the complexified phase space, which are extended almost holomorphically in the same Gevrey class, or in some larger space, to complex neighborhoods of these submanifolds. Using almost holomorphic extensions, we obtain uniformly bounded realizations of such operators on a natural scale of exponentially weighted spaces of holomorphic functions for all Gevrey indices,…
We show that any Dolbeault cohomology group $H^{p,q}(D)$, $p\ge0$, $q\ge1$, of an open subset $D$ of a closed finite codimensional complex Hilbert submanifold of $\ell_2$ is either zero or infinite dimensional. We also show that any continuous character of the algebra of holomorphic functions of a closed complex Hilbert submanifold $M$ of $\ell_2$ is induced by evaluation at a point of $M$. Lastly, we prove that any closed split infinite dimensional complex Banach submanifold of $\ell_1$ admits a nowhere critical holomorphic function.
We establish new results on weighted $L^2$ extension of holomorphic top forms with values in a holomorphic line bundle, from a smooth hypersurface cut out by a holomorphic function. The weights we use are determined by certain functions that we call denominators. We give a collection of examples of these denominators related to the divisor defined by the submanifold.
Real analytic functions on the boundary of the sphere which have separate holomorphic extension along the complex lines through a boundary point have holomorphic extension to the ball. This was proved in a previous preprint by an argument of CR geometry. We give here an elementary proof based on the expansion in holomorphic and antiholomorphic powers.
We study monodromy of holomorphic motions and show the equivalence of triviality of monodromy of holomorphic motions and extensions of holomorphic motions to continuous motions of the Riemann sphere. We also study liftings of holomorphic maps into certain Teichmüller spaces. We use this "lifting property" to prove that, under the condition of trivial monodromy, any holomorphic motion of a closed set in the Riemann sphere, over a hyperbolic Riemann surface, can be extended to a holomorphic motion of the sphere, over the same parameter space. We conclude that this extension can be done in a conf…
We discuss a general result of holomorphic extension of a real analytic function $f$ defined on the boundary $\partial D$ of a real analytic strictly convex subset $D\subset\subset \C^n$. We show that this follows from the hypothesis of separate holomorphic extension along stationary/extremal discs.
We develop complex function theory within certain algebras of holomorphic functions on coverings of Stein manifolds. This, in particular, includes the results on holomorphic extension from complex submanifolds, corona type theorems, properties of divisors, holomorphic analogs of the Peter-Weyl approximation theorem, Hartogs type theorems, characterization of uniqueness sets. The model examples of these algebras are: (1) Bohr's algebra of holomorphic almost periodic functions on tube domains; (2) algebra of all fibrewise bounded holomorphic functions (e.g., arising in the corona problem for $H^…
We present a modified version of the Arakelyan's result: a relationship between holomorphic extension of a holomorphic function on the unit disc onto the domain $\mathbb C\setminus[1,\infty)$ and its Taylor coefficients' interpolation.
We prove a sharp Ohsawa-Takegoshi-Manivel type extension result for twisted holomorphic sections of singular hermitian line bundles over almost Stein manifolds. We establish as corollaries some extension results for pluri-twisted holomorphic sections of singular hermitian line bundles over projective manifolds.
Let $D$ be a strictly pseudoconvex domain in $\C^N$ and $X$ a pure-dimensional non-reduced subvariety that behaves well at $\partial D$. We provide $L^p$-estimates of extensions of holomorphic functions defined on $X$.
We first exhibit counterexamples to some open questions related to a theorem of Sakai. Then we establish an extension theorem of Sakai type for separately holomorphic/meromorphic functions.
The Teichmuller space Teich(S) of a surface S in genus g>1 is a real submanifold of the quasifuchsian space QF(S). We show that the determinant of the Laplacian det'(Delta) on Teich(S) has a unique holomorphic extension to QF(S).
Let $X$ be a complex manifold and $L$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$. Assume that $L$ is semi-positive, namely $L$ admits a smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive Chern curvature. Let $Y$ be a compact Kähler submanifold of $X$ such that the restriction of $L$ to $Y$ is topologically trivial. We investigate the obstruction for $L$ to be unitary flat on a neighborhood of $Y$ in $X$. As an application, for example, we show the existence of nef, big, and non semi-positive line bundle on a non-singular projective surface.
The first part of this article is devoted to the study families of totally real intersecting $n$-submanifolds of $(\Bbb C^n,0)$. We give some conditions which allow to straighten holomorphically the family. If this is not possible to do it formally, we construct a germ of complex analytic set at the origin which interesection with the family can be holomorphically staightened. The second part is devoted to the study real analytic $(n+r)$-submanifolds of $(\Bbb C^n,0)$ having a CR-singularity at the origin ($r$ is a nonnegative integer). We consider deformations of quadrics and we define genera…
The Teichmueller space Teich(S) of a surface S in genus g>1 is a totally real submanifold of the quasifuchsian space QF(S). We show that the determinant of the Laplacian det'(Δ) on Teich(S) has a unique holomorphic extension to QF(S). To realize this holomorphic extension as the determinant of differential operators on S, we introduce a holomorphic family {Δ_{μ,ν}} of elliptic second order differential operators on S whose parameter space is the space of pairs of Beltrami differentials on S and which naturally extends the Laplace operators of hyperbolic metrics on S. We study the determinant o…
We give a criterium of holomorphy for some type formal power series. This gives a stronger form of a Rothstein's type extension theorem for a particular ring of holomorphic functions.
We consider hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions in Cartan domains (in particular in ball and polydisk) and operator of restriction of holomorphic function to a submanifold in Shilov boundary. We discuss conditions when this operator exists. Using such 'trace theorems' it is possible to construct discrete increments to spectra of some unitary representation and to catch singular unitary representations in the spectra. We also discuss spectral problems related to Berezin type kernels on riemann symmetric spaces.
In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
