We establish results on holomorphic extension of CR-mappings of class $C^\infty$ between a real-analytic CR-submanifold of $\C^N$ and a real-algebraic CR-submanifold of $\C^{N'}$.
We consider the algebraic degeneracy of holomorphic curves from a point of view of meromorphic vector fields. Employing the notion of Jocabian sections introduced by W. Stoll, we establish a Second Main Theorem type inequality. As consequences, several algebraic degeneracy theorems are obtained for holomorphic curves into a complex projective variety.
In this note, our purpose is to establish shortly the algebraicity of a holomorphic mapping between real algebraic CR manifolds under a double reflection condition which generalizes the classical single reflection. A complete study of various double reflection conditions is also provided.
We consider (small) algebraic deformations of germs of real-algebraic CR submanifolds in complex space and study the biholomorphic equivalence problem for such deformations. We show that two algebraic deformations of minimal holomorphically nondegenerate real-algebraic CR submanifolds are holomorphically equivalent if and only if they are algebraically equivalent.
We prove the convergence of the normalized Fubini-Study measures and the logarithms of the Bergman kernels of various Bergman spaces of holomorphic and weakly holomorphic sections associated to a singular Hermitian holomorphic line bundle on an algebraic curve. Using this, we study the asymptotic distribution of the zeros of random sequences of sections in these spaces.
We give conditions under which a germ of a holomorphic mapping in $\Bbb C^N$, mapping an irreducible real algebraic set into another of the same dimension, is actually algebraic. Let $A\subset \bC^N$ be an irreducible real algebraic set. Assume that there exists $\po \in A$ such that $A$ is a minimal, generic, holomorphically nondegenerate submanifold at $\po$. We show here that if $H$ is a germ at $p_1 \in A$ of a holomorphic mapping from $\bC^N$ into itself, with Jacobian $H$ not identically $0$, and $H(A)$ contained in a real algebraic set of the same dimension as $A$, then $H$ must extend …
We show that there are strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurfaces in $\bC^{n+1}$ that cannot be locally embedded into a sphere in $\bC^{N+1}$ for any $N$. In fact, we show that there are strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurfaces in $\bC^{n+1}$ that cannot be locally embedded into any compact, strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurface.
C-holomorphic functions defined on algebraic sets and having algebraic graphs can be considered as a complex counterpart of regulous functions introduced recently in real geometry. This note is a part of our study on the subject; we prove herein some effective Nullstellensätze.
Applying the Second Main Theorem we deal with the algebraic degeneracy of entire holomorphic curves from the complex plane into a complex algebraic normal variety of positive log Kodaira dimension that admits a finite proper morphism to a semi-abelian variety. We will also discuss applications to the Kobayashi hyperbolicity problem.
We present a geometric proof of the theorem saying that holomorphic maps from Runge domains to affine algebraic varieties admit approximation by Nash maps. Next we generalize this theorem.
We obtain results on approximation of holomorphic maps by algebraic maps, jet transversality theorems for holomorphic and algebraic maps, and the homotopy principle for holomorphic submersions of Stein manifolds to certain algebraic manifolds.
We study the holomorphic extendibility of $\text{Op}(p)u$, when $p$ is an analytic symbol, and explicit information is available on the domains of holomorphic extendibility of both $p$ and $u$. By a contour deformation argument, we obtain a precise local estimate of the domain of holomorphy of $\text{Op}(p)u$ in terms of the information on $p$ and $u$.
Since the great work on holomorphic curves into algebraic varieties intersecting hypersurfaces in general position established by Ru in 2009, recently there has been some developments on the second main theorem into algebraic varieties intersecting moving hypersurfaces targets. The main purpose of this paper is to give some interesting improvements of Ru's second main theorem for moving hypersurfaces targets located in subgeneral position with index.
Recently, there are many developments on the second main theorem for holomorphic curves into algebraic varieties intersecting divisors in general position or subgeneral position. In this paper, we refine the concept of subgeneral position by introducing the notion of the index of subgeneral position. With this new notion we give some surprising improvement of the previous known second main theorem type results. Moreover, via the analogue between Nevanlinna theory and Diophantine approximation, the corresponding Schmidt's subspace type theorems are also established in the final section.
In [Ann. of Math. 169 (2009)], Min Ru proved a second main theorem for algebraically nondegenerate holomorphic curves in complex projective varieties intersecting fixed hypersurface targets. In this paper, by introducing a new proof method for the case of projective varieties, we generalize this result to moving hypersurface targets.
We prove that two algebraic embeddings of a smooth variety $X$ in $\mathbb{C}^m$ are the same up to a holomorphic coordinate change, provided that $2 \dim X + 1$ is smaller than or equal to $m$. This improves an algebraic result of Nori and Srinivas. For the proof we extend a technique of Kaliman using generic linear projections of $\mathbb{C}^m$.
We show that a $2k$-current $T$ on a complex manifold is a real holomorphic $k$-chain if and only if $T$ is locally real rectifiable, $d$-closed and has $\mathcal{H}^{2k}$-locally finite support. This result is applied to study homology classes represented by algebraic cycles.
The existence problem for holomorphic structures on vector bundles over non-algebraic surfaces is in general still open. We solve this problem in the case of rank 2 vector bundles over K3 surfaces and in the case of vector bundles of arbitrary rank over all known surfaces of class VII. Our methods, which are based on Donaldson theory and deformation theory, can be used to solve the existence problem of holomorphic vector bundles on further classes of non-algebraic surfaces.
In this paper we extend results due to Vogt on line bundles over Cousin groups to the case of domains stable by the maximal compact subgroup. This is used in the sequel to show that the algebraic dimension of OT-manifolds is zero. In the last part we establish that certain Cousin groups, in particular those arising from the construction of OT-manifolds, have finite-dimensional irregularity.
Let $G$ be a reductive group. We prove that a family of polynomial actions of $G$ on $\mathbb{C}^2$, holomorphically parametrized by an open Riemann surface, is linearizable. As an application, we show that a particular class of reductive group actions on $\mathbb{C}^3$ is linearizable. The main step of our proof is to establish a certain restrictive Oka property for groups of equivariant algebraic automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^2$.
In this paper, we consider local holomorphic mappings f: M\to M' between real algebraic CR generic manifolds (or more generally, real algebraic sets with singularities) in the complex euclidean spaces of different dimensions and we search necessary and sufficient conditions for f to be algebraic. These conditions appear to exclude two certain flatness of M and of M'. From the point of view of CR geometry, a real analytic CR manifold M can be flat in essentially to ways, being biholomorphic to a product M_1\times Δ^k, k\geq 1, by a polydisc (algebraic degeneracy), or to a product M_1\times I^l,…
We consider closed positive currents invariant by a singular holomorphic foliation on an algebraic surface. We show that under some conditions the foliation must leave invariant an algebraic curve.
We show that the group of all holomorphic automorphisms of complex affine space $\mathbb C^n$, $n>1$, and several of its subgroups satisfy the parametric Oka property with approximation and with interpolation on discrete sets.
We give an example of a real algebraic manifold embedded in a complex space that does not satisfy the Nash-Artin approximation Property. This Nash-Artin approximation Property is closely related to the problem of determining when the biholomorphic equivalence for germs of real algebraic manifolds coincides with the algebraic equivalence. This example is an elliptic Bishop surface, and its construction is based on the functional equation satisfied by the generating series of some walks restricted to the quarter plane.
This paper is the first of a series dealing with c-holomorphic functions defined on algebraic sets and having algebraic graphs. These functions may be seen as the complex counterpart of the recently introduced \textit{regulous} functions. Herein we study their growth exponent at infinity. A general result on injectivity on fibres of an analytic set together with a theorem of Tworzewski and Winiarski gives a bound for the growth exponent of a c-holomorphic function with algebraic graph in terms of the projective degrees of the sets involved. We prove also that algebricity of the graph is equiva…
We prove that the canonical bundle of any holomorphic family of compact complex algebraic manifolds carries a singular Hermitian metric having non-negative curvature current and such that every holomorphic section of the canonical bundle of the central fiber is L^2 with respect to this metric. This result was proved by Siu when the members of the family are general type, and used to establish the deformation invariance of plurigenera in that case. In fact, we prove our result in a more general setting of a smooth hypersurface with not-necessarily normal trivial bundle in a manifold that is Ste…
We prove that if $M$ and $M'$ are algebraic hypersurfaces in $ C^ N$, i.e. both defined by the vanishing of real polynomials, then any sufficiently smooth CR mapping with Jacobian not identically zero extends holomorphically provided the hypersurfaces are holomorphically nondegenerate . Conversely, we prove that holomorphic nondegeneracy is necessary for this property of CR mappings to hold. For the case of unequal dimensions, we also prove that if $M$ is an algebraic hypersurface in $ C^N$ which does not contain any complex variety of positive codimension and $M'$ is the sphere in $ C^{N+1 }$…
Let {X_n} be a sequence of analytic sets converging to some analytic set X in the sense of holomorphic chains. We introduce a condition which implies that every irreducible component of X is the limit of a sequence of irreducible components of the sets from {X_n}. Next we apply the condition to approximate a holomorphic solution y=f(x) of a system Q(x,y)=0 of Nash equations by Nash solutions. Presented methods allow to construct an algorithm of approximation of the holomorphic solutions.
We characterize pairs of bounded Reinhardt domains in $\CC^2$ between which there exists a proper holomorphic map and find all proper maps that are not elementary algebraic.
It is proved that the germ of a holomorphic map from a real analytic hypersurface M in C^n into a strictly pseudoconvex compact real algebraic hypersurface M' in C^N, 1 < n < N extends holomorphically along any path on M.
Let $X$ be a connected Oka manifold, and let $S$ be a Stein manifold with $\mathrm{dim} S \geq \mathrm{dim} X$. We show that every continuous map $S\to X$ is homotopic to a surjective strongly dominating holomorphic map $S\to X$. We also find strongly dominating algebraic morphisms from the affine $n$-space onto any compact $n$-dimensional algebraically subelliptic manifold. Motivated by these results, we propose a new holomorphic flexibility property of complex manifolds, the basic Oka property with surjectivity, which could potentially provide another characterization of the class of Oka man…
Given a real analytic (or, more generally, semianalytic) set R in the n-dimensional complex space, there is, for every point p in the closure of R, a unique smallest complex analytic germ X_p that contains the germ R_p. We call the complex dimension of X_p the holomorphic closure dimension of R at p. We show that the holomorphic closure dimension of an irreducible R is constant on the complement of a closed proper analytic subset of R, and discuss the relationship between this dimension and the CR dimension of R.
We apply Nevanlinna theory for algebraic varieties to Danielewski surfaces and investigate their group of holomorphic automorphisms. Our main result states that the overshear group which is known to be dense in the identity component of the holomorphic automorphism group, is a free amalgamated product.
For $q\leq 3$ smooth plane algebraic curves $\mathcal{C}_i$ having simple normal crossings, if the invariant logarithmic $2$-jet differential bundle associated to $(\mathbb{P}^2(\mathbb{C}), \sum_{i=1}^q \mathcal{C}_i)$ has a nonzero section vanishing on some ample divisor, then, for every algebraically nondegenerate entire holomorphic curve $f\colon\mathbb{C}\rightarrow\mathbb{P}^2(\mathbb{C})$, we have a Second Main Theorem type estimate: \[ T_f(r) \leq c\sum_{i=1}^q\,N_f^{[1]}(r,\mathcal{C}_i) + o\big(T_f(r) \big)\parallel, \] where $T_f(r)$ and $N_f^{[1]}(r,C_i)$ stand for the order functi…
We prove some properties of analytic multiplicative and sub-multiplicative cocycles. The results allow to construct natural invariant analytic sets associated to complex dynamical systems.
The following result is proved: Let $D$ and $D'$ be bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$, $\partial D$ is smooth, real-analytic, simply connected, and $\partial D'$ is connected, smooth, real-algebraic. Then there exists a proper holomorphic correspondence $f:D\to D'$ if and only if $\partial D$ and $\partial D'$ a locally CR-equivalent. This leads to a characterization of the equivalence relationship between bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$ modulo proper holomorphic correspondences in terms of CR-equivalence of their boundaries.
Let X be a complex nonsingular affine algebraic variety, K a holomorphically convex subset of X, and Y a homogeneous variety for some complex linear algebraic group. We prove that a holomorphic map f:K-->Y can be uniformly approximated on K by regular maps K-->Y if and only if f is homotopic to a regular map K-->Y. However, it can happen that a null homotopic holomorphic map K-->Y does not admit uniform approximation on K by regular maps X-->Y. Here, a map g:K-->Y is called holomorphic (resp. regular) if there exist an open (resp. a Zariski open) neighborhood U of K in X and a holomorphic (res…
We give in \mathbb{R}^6 a real analytic almost complex structure J, a real analytic hypersurface M and a vector v in the Levi null set at 0 of M, such that there is no germ of J-holomorphic disc f included in M with f(0)=0 and \frac{\partial f}{\partial x}(0)=v, although the Levi form of M has constant rank. Then for any hypersurface M and any complex structure J, we give necessary conditions under which there exists such a germ of disc.
Let D be a strictly convex domain and X be a singular analytic subset of C^2 such that the intersection of X and D is non empty. We give conditions under which a function holomophic on the intersection of X and D can be extended holomorphically to D with growth estimates of BMO or L^q type. The extension is given by mean of integral representation formulas and new residual currents.
In this paper, we prove some difference analogue of second main theorems of meromorphic mapping from Cm into an algebraic variety V intersecting a finite set of fixed hypersurfaces in subgeneral position. As an application, we prove a result on algebraically degenerate of holomorphic curves intersecting hypersurfaces and difference analogue of Picard's theorem on holomorphic curves. Furthermore, we obtain a second main theorem of meromorphic mappings intersecting hypersurfaces in N-subgeneral position for Veronese embedding in Pn(C) and a uniqueness theorem sharing hypersurfaces.
Let M be a complex nilmanifold, that is, a compact quotient of a nilpotent Lie group endowed with an invariant complex structure by a discrete lattice. A holomorphic differential on M is a closed, holomorphic 1-form. We show that $a(M)\leq k$, where $a(M)$ is the algebraic dimension $a(M)$ (i.e. the transcendence degree of the field of meromorphic functions) and $k$ is the dimension of the space of holomorphic differentials. We prove a similar result about meromorphic maps to Kahler manifolds.
In this paper, we explore holomorphic Segre preserving maps. First, we investigate holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending the complexification $\mathcal{M}$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M \subseteq \C^N$ of finite type at some point $p$ into the complexification $\mathcal{M}'$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M' \subseteq \C^{N'}$, finitely nondegenerate at some point $p'$. We prove that for a fixed $M$ and $M'$, the germs at $(p,\bar{p})$ of Segre submersive holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending $(\M,(p,\bar{p}))$ into $(\M',(p', \bar{p}'))$ can be parametrized by the…
We study the holomorphic embedding problem from a compact strongly pseudoconvex real algebraic hypersurface into a sphere of higher dimension. We construct a family of compact strongly pseudoconvex hypersurfaces $M_ε$ in $\mathbb{C}^2,$ and prove that for any integer $N$, there is a number $ε(N)$ with $0<ε(N)<1$ such that for any $ε$ with $0<ε<ε(N)$, $M_ε$ can not be locally holomorphically embedded into the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{2N-1}$ in $\mathbb{C}^N.$
We determine topological and algebraic conditions for a germ of holomorphic foliation $\mathcal F(X)$ induced by a generic vector field $X$ on $(\mathbb{C}^{3},0)$ to have a holomorphic first integral, i.e., a germ of holomorphic map $F \colon(\mathbb{C}^{3},0)\longrightarrow(\mathbb{C}^{2},0)$ such that the leaves of $\mathcal F(X)$ are contained in the level curves of $F$.
We first give an exposition on holomorphic isometries from the Poincaré disk to polydisks and from the Poincaré disk to the product of the Poincaré disk with a complex unit ball. As an application, we provide an example of proper holomorphic map from the unit disk to the complex unit ball that is irrational, algebraic and holomorphic on a neighborhood of the closed unit disk. We also include some new results on holomorphic isometries.
In this article, we study local holomorphic isometric embeddings from ${\BB}^n$ into ${\BB}^{N_1}\times... \times{\BB}^{N_m}$ with respect to the normalized Bergman metrics up to conformal factors. Assume that each conformal factor is smooth Nash algebraic. Then each component of the map is a multi-valued holomorphic map between complex Euclidean spaces by the algebraic extension theorem derived along the lines of Mok and Mok-Ng. Applying holomorphic continuation and analyzing real analytic subvarieties carefully, we show that each component is either a constant map or a proper holomorphic map…
We study the behavior of the analytic capacity of a compact set under deformations obtained by families of conformal maps depending holomorphically on the complex parameter. We show that, under those deformations, the logarithm of the analytic capacity varies harmonically. We also show that the hypotheses in this result cannot be substantially weakened.
We study subharmonic functions whose Laplacian is supported on a null set and in connected components of of the complement to the support admit harmonic extensions to larger sets. We prove that if such a function has a piecewise holomorphic derivative, then it is locally piecewise harmonic. In generic cases it coincides locally with the maximum of finitely many harmonic functions. Moreover, we describe the support when the holomorphic derivative satisfies a global algebraic equation. The proofs follow classical patterns and our methods may also be of independent interest.
We discuss a general result of holomorphic extension of a real analytic function $f$ defined on the boundary $\partial D$ of a real analytic strictly convex subset $D\subset\subset \C^n$. We show that this follows from the hypothesis of separate holomorphic extension along stationary/extremal discs.
A solution to the effectiveness problem in Kohn's algorithm for generating subelliptic multipliers is provided for domains that include those given by sums of squares of holomorphic functions (also including infinite sums). These domains are of particular interest due to their relation with complex and algebraic geometry and in particular, seem to include all previously known cases. Furthermore, combined with a recent result of M. Fassina, our effectiveness method allows establishing effective subelliptic estimates for more general classes of domains. Our main new tool, a triangular resolution…
Let $M\subset \mathbb C^n$ be a real analytic hypersurface, $M'\subset \mathbb C^N$ $(N\geq n)$ be a strongly pseudoconvex real algebraic hypersurface of the special form and $F$ be a meromorphic mapping in a neighborhood of a point $p\in M$ which is holomorphic in one side of $M$. Assuming some additional conditions for the mapping $F$ on the hypersurface $M$, we proved that $F$ has a holomorphic extension to $p$. This result may be used to show the regularity of CR mappings between real hypersurfaces of different dimensions.
