We survey results on the pebbling numbers of graphs as well as their historical connection with a number-theoretic question of Erd\H os and Lemke. We also present new results on two probabilistic pebbling considerations, first the random graph threshold for the property that the pebbling number of a graph equals its number of vertices, and second the pebbling threshold function for various natural graph sequences. Finally, we relate the question of the existence of pebbling thresholds to a strengthening of the normal property of posets, and show that the multiset lattice is not supernormal.
We define three new pebbling parameters of a connected graph $G$, the $r$-, $g$-, and $u$-critical pebbling numbers. Together with the pebbling number, the optimal pebbling number, the number of vertices $n$ and the diameter $d$ of the graph, this yields 7 graph parameters. We determine the relationships between these parameters. We investigate properties of the $r$-critical pebbling number, and distinguish between greedy graphs, thrifty graphs, and graphs for which the $r$-critical pebbling number is $2^d$.

We explore the complexity of computing the optimal pebbling number and pebbling number of a graph. We show that deciding whether the optimal pebbling number of G is at most k is NP-complete and deciding whether the pebbling number of G is at most k is Π_2-complete. Additionally, we provide a characterization of when an unordered set of pebbling moves can be ordered to form a valid sequence of pebbling moves.
Graph pebbling models the transportation of consumable resources. As two pebbles move across an edge, one reaches its destination while the other is consumed. The $t$-pebbling number is the smallest integer $m$ so that any initially distributed supply of $m$ pebbles can place $t$ pebbles on any target vertex via pebbling moves. The 1-pebbling number of diameter two graphs is well-studied. Here we investigate the $t$-pebbling number of diameter two graphs under the lense of connectivity.
We prove a generalization of Graham's Conjecture for optimal pebbling with arbitrary sets of target distributions. We provide bounds on optimal pebbling numbers of products of complete graphs and explicitly find optimal $t$-pebbling numbers for specific such products. We obtain bounds on optimal pebbling numbers of powers of the cycle $C_5$. Finally, we present explicit distributions which provide asymptotic bounds on optimal pebbling numbers of hypercubes.
A new graph invariant called the secure vertex cover pebbling number, which is a combination of two graph invariants, namely secure vertex cover and cover pebbling number, is introduced in this paper. The secure vertex cover pebbling number of a graph G is the minimum number m so that every distribution of m pebbles can reach some secure vertex cover of G by a sequence of pebbling moves. This paper continues the results of "Domination Cover Pebbling: Graph Families." An almost sharp bound for the domination cover pebbling (DCP) number for graphs G with specified diameter has been computed. For graphs of diameter two, a bound for the ratio between the cover pebbling number of G and the DCP number of G has been computed. A variant of domination cover pebbling, called subversion DCP is introducted, and preliminary results are discussed.

In this paper we prove two multiset analogs of classical results. We prove a multiset analog of Lovasz's version of the Kruskal-Katona Theorem and an analog of the Bollobas-Thomason threshold result. As a corollary we obtain the existence of pebbling thresholds for arbitrary graph sequences. In addition, we improve both the lower and upper bounds for the `random pebbling' threshold of the sequence of paths.

In this note we answer a question of Hurlbert about pebbling in graphs of high girth. Specifically we show that for every g there is a Class 0 graph of girth at least g. The proof uses the so-called Erdos construction and employs a recent result proved by Czygrinow, Hurlbert, Kierstead and Trotter. We also use the Czygrinow et al. result to prove that Graham's pebbling product conjecture holds for dense graphs. Recent research in graph pebbling has introduced the notion of a cover pebbling number. Along this same idea, we develop a more general pebbling function Pi(G, t, P). This measures the minimum number of pebbles needed to guarantee that any distribution of them on G can be transformed via pebbling moves to a distribution with pebbles on t target vertices. Furthermore, the P part of the function gives the ability to change how many pebbles are needed to pebble from one vertex to another. Bounds on the Pi-pebbling function are developed, as well as its exact value for several families of graphs.

In this paper, we extend the ideas of graph pebbling to oriented graphs and find a classification for all graphs with fully traversable pebbling assignments that are isomorphic to their assignment graph. We then give some cases in which a graph with a non-fully traversable pebbling assignment is isomorphic to its assignment graph.

We say that a graph G is Class 0 if its pebbling number is exactly equal to its number of vertices. For a positive integer d, let k(d) denote the least positive integer so that every graph G with diameter at most d and connectivity at least k(d) is Class 0. The existence of the function k was conjectured by Clarke, Hochberg and Hurlbert, who showed that if the function k exists, then it must satisfy k(d)=Ω(2^d/d). In this note, we show that k exists and satisfies k(d)=O(2^{2d}). We also apply this result to improve the upper bound on the random graph threshold of the Class 0 property.

We provide a simpler proof verifying Pachter, Snevily and Voxman's determination of the optimal pebbling number of paths, and then adapt the ideas in this proof to establish the optimal pebbling number of cycles. We investigate generalizations of pebbling numbers and of Graham's pebbling conjecture that pi(GxH) <= pi(G)pi(H), where pi(G) is the pebbling number of the graph G. We develop new machinery to attack the conjecture, which is now twenty years old. We show that certain conjectures imply others that initially appear stronger.
