Let $G$ be a connected graph. A pebbling move is defined as taking two pebbles from one vertex and placing one pebble to an adjacent vertex and throwing away the other pebble. The non-split domination cover pebbling number, $ψ_{ns}(G)$, of a graph $G$ is the minimum of pebbles that must be placed on $V(G)$ such that after a sequence of pebbling moves, the set of vertices with a pebble forms a non-split dominating set of $G$, regardless of the initial configuration of pebbles. We discuss some basic results, NP-completeness of non-split domination number, and determine $ψ_{ns}$ for some families of Middle graphs.
This paper continues the results of "Domination Cover Pebbling: Graph Families." An almost sharp bound for the domination cover pebbling (DCP) number for graphs G with specified diameter has been computed. For graphs of diameter two, a bound for the ratio between the cover pebbling number of G and the DCP number of G has been computed. A variant of domination cover pebbling, called subversion DCP is introducted, and preliminary results are discussed.
Given a configuration of pebbles on the vertices of a connected graph G, a pebbling move is defined as the removal of two pebbles from some vertex, and the placement of one of these on an adjacent vertex. We introduce the notion of domination cover pebbling, obtained by combining graph cover pebbling with the theory of domination in graphs. The domination cover pebbling number, psi(G), of a graph G is the minimum number of pebbles that must be placed on V(G) such that after a sequence of pebbling moves, the set of vertices with pebbles forms a dominating set of G, regardless of the initial con…
A pebbling move on a graph $G$ consists of taking two pebbles off one vertex and placing one on an adjacent vertex. The pebbling number of a graph $G$, denoted by $f(G)$, is the least integer $n$ such that, however $n$ pebbles are located on the vertices of $G$, we can move one pebble to any vertex by a sequence of pebbling moves. Let $M(G)$ be the middle graph of $G$. For any connected graphs $G$ and $H$, Graham conjectured that $f(G\times H)\leq f(G)f(H)$. In this paper, we give the pebbling number of some graphs and prove that Graham's conjecture holds for the middle graphs of some even cyc…
A pebbling move on a graph removes two pebbles from a vertex and adds one pebble to an adjacent vertex. A vertex is reachable from a pebble distribution if it is possible to move a pebble to that vertex using pebbling moves. The optimal pebbling number $π_{opt}$ is the smallest number $m$ needed to guarantee a pebble distribution of $m$ pebbles from which any vertex is reachable. A rubbling move is similar to a pebbling move, but it can remove the two pebbles from two different vertex. The optimal rubbling number $ρ_{opt}$ is defined analogously to the optimal pebbling number. In this paper we…
In this paper, we study the domination number of middle graphs. Indeed, we obtain tight bounds for this number in terms of the order of the graph. We also compute the domination number of some families of graphs such as star graphs, double start graphs, path graphs, cycle graphs, wheel graphs, complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs and friendship graphs, explicitly. Moreover, some Nordhaus-Gaddum-like relations are presented for the domination number of middle graphs.
In this paper, we study the notions of connected domination number and of outer-connected domination number for middle graphs. Indeed, we obtain tight bounds for this number in terms of the order of the graph M(G). We also compute the outer-connected domination number of some families of graphs such as star graphs, cycle graphs, wheel graphs, complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs and some operation on graphs, explicitly. Moreover, some Nordhaus-Gaddum-like relations are presented for the outer-connected domination number of middle graphs.
The pebbling number of a graph $G$, $f(G)$, is the least $p$ such that, however $p$ pebbles are placed on the vertices of $G$, we can move a pebble to any vertex by a sequence of moves, each move taking two pebbles off one vertex and placing one on an adjacent vertex. It is conjectured that for all graphs $G$ and $H$, $f(G\times H)\leq f(G)f(H)$. If the graph $G$ satisfies the odd two-pebbling property, we will prove that $f(C_{4k+3}\times G)\leq f(C_{4k+3})f(G)$ and $f(M(C_{2n})\times G)\leq f(M(C_{2n}))f(G)$, where $C_{4k+3}$ is the odd cycle of order $4k+3$ and $M(C_{2n})$ is the middle gra…
A total dominating set of a graph G with no isolated vertices is a subset S of the vertex set such that every vertex of G is adjacent to a vertex in S. The total domination number of G is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of G. In this paper, we study the total domination number of middle graphs. Indeed, we obtain tight bounds for this number in terms of the order of the graph G. We also compute the total domination number of the middle graph of some known families of graphs explicitly. Moreover, some Nordhaus-Gaddum-like relations are presented for the total domination number …
The middle graph $M(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the graph obtained by subdividing each edge of $G$ exactly once and joining all these newly introduced vertices of adjacent edges of $G$. A perfect Roman dominating function on a graph $G$ is a function $f : V(G) \rightarrow \{0, 1, 2\}$ satisfying the condition that every vertex $v$ with $f(v)=0$ is adjacent to exactly one vertex $u$ for which $f(u)=2$. The weight of a perfect Roman dominating function $f$ is the sum of weights of vertices. The perfect Roman domination number is the minimum weight of a perfect Roman dominating function on $G$. In this…
Let $G$ be a finite simple graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$. A function $f : V(G) \rightarrow \mathcal{P}(\{1, 2, \dotsc, k\})$ is a \textit{$k$-rainbow dominating function} on $G$ if for each vertex $v \in V(G)$ for which $f(v)= \emptyset$, it holds that $\bigcup_{u \in N(v)}f(u) = \{1, 2, \dotsc, k\}$. The weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function is the value $\sum_{v \in V(G)}|f(v)|$. The \textit{$k$-rainbow domination number} $γ_{rk}(G)$ is the minimum weight of a $k$-rainbow dominating function on $G$. In this paper, we initiate the study of $k$-rainbow domination numbe…
The {\it Sierpiński fractal} or {\it Sierpiński gasket} $Σ$ is a familiar object studied by specialists in dynamical systems and probability. In this paper, we consider a graph $S_n$ derived from the first $n$ iterations of the process that leads to $Σ$, and study some of its properties, including its cycle structure, domination number and pebbling number. Various open questions are posed.
