We give sufficient conditions for the semisimplicity of quantum cohomology of Fano varieties of Picard rank 1. We apply these techniques to prove new semisimplicity results for some Fano varieties of Picard rank 1 and large index. In this paper we survey geometric and arithmetic techniques to study the cohomology of semiprojective hyperkaehler manifolds including toric hyperkaehler varieties, Nakajima quiver varieties and moduli spaces of Higgs bundles on Riemann surfaces. The resulting formulae for their Poincare polynomials are combinatorial and representation theoretical in nature. In particular we will look at their Betti numbers and will establish some results and expectations on their asymptotic shape.

We generalize Givental's Theorem for complete intersections in smooth toric varieties in the Fano case. In particular, we find Gromov--Witten invariants of Fano varieties of dimension $\geq 3$, which are complete intersections in weighted projective spaces and singular toric varieties. We generalize the Riemann-Roch equations to weighted projective spaces. We compute counting matrices of smooth Fano threefolds with Picard group Z and anticanonical degrees 2, 8, and 16.
We show that the weight 0 part of the first cohomology of a complex algebraic variety $X$ is a topological invariant, and give an explicit description of its dimension using a topological construction of the normalization of $X$, where $X$ can be reducible, but must be equidimensional. We show that the infinitesimal deformations of the Brill--Noether locus $W_d$ attached to a smooth non-hyperelliptic curve $C$ are in one-to-one correspondence with the deformations of $C$. As an application, we prove that if a Jacobian $J$ deforms together with a minimal cohomology class out the Jacobian locus, then $J$ is hyperelliptic. In particular, this provides an evidence to a conjecture of Debarre on the classification of ppavs carrying a minimal cohomology class. Finally, we also study simultaneous deformations of Fano surfaces of lines and intermediate Jacobians.

We then compute the de Rham cohomologies of these varieties of the one-holed torus and the four-holed sphere when the varieties are smooth via the Grothendieck theorem. Furthermore, we produce the explicit Gauss-Manin connection on the natural family of the smooth SL(2,C)-representation variety of the one-holed torus.
We extend the methods developed in our earlier work to algorithmically compute the intersection cohomology Betti numbers of reductive varieties.
