Horn recursion is a term used to describe when non-vanishing products of Schubert classes in the cohomology of complex flag varieties are characterized by inequalities parameterized by similar non-vanishing products in the cohomology of "smaller" flag varieties. We consider the type A partial flag variety and find that its cohomology exhibits a Horn recursion on a certain deformation of the cup product defined by Belkale and Kumar in \cite{BK06}. We also show that if a product of Schubert classes is non-vanishing on this deformation, then the associated structure constant can be written in terms of structure constants coming from induced Grassmannians.

The Horn recursion for Schur P- and Q- functions: Extended Abstract

A consequence of work of Klyachko and of Knutson-Tao is the Horn recursion to determine when a Littlewood-Richardson coefficient is non-zero. Briefly, a Littlewood-Richardson coefficient is non-zero if and only if it satisfies a collection of Horn inequalities which are indexed by smaller non-zero Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Two step flag manifolds and the Horn conjecture

We give a simplification of Belkale's geometric proof of the Horn conjecture. Our approach uses the geometry of two-step flag manifolds to explain the occurrence of the Horn inequalities in a very straightforward way. The arguments for both necessity and sufficiency of the Horn inequalities are fairly conceptual when viewed in this framework. We provide examples to illustrate the method of proof.

Elliptic classes of Schubert varieties

We introduce new notions in elliptic Schubert calculus: the (twisted) Borisov-Libgober classes of Schubert varieties in general homogeneous spaces G/P. While these classes do not depend on any choice, they depend on a set of new variables. For the definition of our classes we calculate multiplicities of some divisors in Schubert varieties, which were only known for full flag varieties before. The recursive nature of cominuscule Schubert calculus

The necessary and sufficient Horn inequalities which determine the non-vanishing Littlewood-Richardson coefficients in the cohomology of a Grassmannian are recursive in that they are naturally indexed by non-vanishing Littlewood-Richardson coefficients on smaller Grassmannians. Eigenvalue problem and a new product in cohomology of flag varieties

Let G be a connected semisimple complex algebraic group and let P be a parabolic subgroup. In this paper we define a new (commutative and associative) product on the cohomology of the homogenous spaces G/P and use this to give a more efficient solution of the eigenvalue problem and also for the problem of determining the existence of G-invariants in the tensor product of irreducible representations of G. K-theoretic Tutte polynomials of morphisms of matroids

We generalize the Tutte polynomial of a matroid to a morphism of matroids via the K-theory of flag varieties. We introduce two different generalizations, and demonstrate that each has its own merits, where the trade-off is between the ease of combinatorics and geometry. One generalization recovers the Las Vergnas Tutte polynomial of a morphism of matroids, which admits a corank-nullity formula and a deletion-contraction recursion. The other generalization does not, but better reflects the geometry of flag varieties.

Elliptic classes of Schubert varieties via Bott-Samelson resolution

Based on recent advances on the relation between geometry and representation theory, we propose a new approach to elliptic Schubert calculus. We study the equivariant elliptic characteristic classes of Schubert varieties of the generalized full flag variety $G/B$. Semi-infinite Schubert varieties and quantum K-theory of flag manifolds

Let g be a semi-simple Lie algebra. The classical Hermitian eigenvalue problem addresses the following question: What are the possible eigenvalues of the sum A+B of two Hermitian matrices A and B, provided we fix the eigenvalues of A and B.
