The existence problem for vector bundles on a smooth compact complex surface consists in determining which topological complex vector bundles admit holomorphic structures. For projective surfaces, Schwarzenberger proved that a topological complex vector bundle admits a holomorphic (algebraic) structure if and only if its first Chern class belongs to the Neron-Severi group of the surface. In contrast, for non-projective surfaces there is only a necessary condition for the existence problem (the discriminant of the vector bundles must be positive) and the difficulty of the problem resides in the lack of a general method for constructing non-filtrable vector bundles. In this paper, we close the existence problem in the rank-2 case, by giving necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of holomorphic rank-2 vector bundles on non-K\" ahler elliptic surfaces.
We consider the only one known class of non-Kähler irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifolds, described in the works of D. Guan and the first author. Any such manifold $Q$ of dimension $2n-2$ is obtained as a finite degree $n^2$ cover of some non-Kähler manifold $W_F$ which we call the base of $Q$. We show that the algebraic reduction of $Q$ and its base is the projective space of dimension $n-1$. Besides, we give a partial classification of submanifolds in $Q$, describe the degeneracy locus of its algebraic reduction, and prove that the automorphism group of $Q$ satisfies the Jordan proper…
In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
Given a compact complex manifold $M$, we investigate the holomorphic vector bundles $E$ on $M$ such that $φ^* E$ is trivial for some surjective holomorphic map $φ$, to $M$, from some compact complex manifold. We prove that these are exactly those holomorphic vector bundles that admit a flat holomorphic connection with finite monodromy homomorphism. A similar result is proved for holomorphic principal $G$-bundles, where $G$ is a connected reductive complex affine algebraic group.
In this paper, we study the moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_{δ,c_2}$ of stable rank-2 vector bundles on non-K\" ahler elliptic surfaces, thus giving a classification these bundles; in the case of Hopf and Kodaira surfaces, these moduli spaces admit the structure of an algebraically completely integrable Hamiltonian system.
In this paper, we study holomorphic rank-2 vector bundles on non-K\" ahler elliptic surfaces. Our main tool for analysing these bundles is of course the spectral cover. However, given the non-Kähler condition, the elliptic surfaces we are considering do not have sections and gerbes naturally arise in this context. The spectral construction presented in this paper is a modification of the Fourier-Mukai transform for elliptic fibrations without a section. After examining some of the properties of this Fourier-Mukai transform, we give a complete classification of vector bundles on these surfaces.
We study infinitesimal deformations of autodual and hyper-holomorphic connections on complex vector bundles on hyper-Kähler manifolds of arbitrary dimension. In particular, we describe the DG Lie algebra controlling this deformation problem. Moreover, we prove associative formality for derived endomorphisms of a holomorphic vector bundle admitting a projectively hyper-holomorphic connection.
We study relatively semi-stable vector bundles and their moduli on non-Kähler principal elliptic bundles over compact complex manifolds of arbitrary dimension. The main technical tools used are the twisted Fourier-Mukai transform and a spectral cover construction. For the important example of such principal bundles, the numerical invariants of a 3-dimensional non-Kähler elliptic principal bundle over a primary Kodaira surface are computed.
A manifold M is locally conformally Kahler (LCK) if it admits a Kahler covering with monodromy acting by holomorphic homotheties. For a compact connected group G acting on an LCK manifold by holomorphic automorphisms, an averaging procedure gives a G-invariant LCK metric. Suppose that U(1) acts on an LCK manifold M by holomorphic isometries, and the lifting of this action to the Kahler cover of M is not isometric. We show that the cover admits an automorphic Kahler potential, and hence can be embedded to a Hopf manifold.
The interest in rigid vector bundles (with respect to determinant preserving deformations) stems from various sources. From a geometric point of view, non-Kähler manifolds are of particular interest with respect to this problem. In this article, a description of the various possible cases of rigid rank 2 bundles on non-Kähler surfaces is presented. The largest gap of knowledge is for minimal class VII surfaces with $b_{2}(X)\ge 4$.
We generalize a construction of Hitchin to prove that, given any compact Kähler manifold $M$ with positive holomorphic sectional curvature and any holomorphic vector bundle $E$ over $M$, the projectivized vector bundle ${\mathbb P}(E)$ admits a Kähler metric with positive holomorphic sectional curvature.
In the previous paper \cite{Goto_2017}, the notion of an Einstein-Hermitian metric of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type was introduced from the moment map framework. In this paper we establish a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence, that is, the equivalence of the existence of an Einstein-Hermitian metric and $ψ$-polystability of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a compact generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type. Poisson modules provide intriguing generalized holomorphic vector bundles and we obtain $ψ$-stable Poisson mo…
Let $\mathcal{M}$ be a moduli space of polystable rank 2-bundles bundles with fixed determinant (a moduli space of $\mathrm{PU}(2)$-instantons) on a Gauduchon surface with $p_g=0$ and $b_1=1$. We study the holomorphic structure of $\mathcal{M}$ around a circle $\mathcal{T}$ of regular reductions. Our model space is a "blowup flip passage", which is a manifold with boundary whose boundary is a projective fibration, and whose interior comes with a natural complex structure. We prove that a neighborhood of the boundary of the blowup $\hat{\mathcal{M}}_{\mathcal{T}}$ of $\mathcal{M}$ at $\mathcal{…
In this Note we establish a relation between sections in globally generated holomorphic vector bundles on Kähler manifolds, isotropic with respect to a non-degenerate quadratic form, and totally geodesic foliations on Euclidean open domains. We find a geometric condition for a totally geodesic foliation to originate in a holomorphic vector bundle. For codimension-two foliations, this description recovers of P. Baird and J. C. Wood. The universal objects that play a key role are the orthogonal Grassmannians.
In this article we study compact Kähler manifolds $X$ admitting non-singular holomorphic vector fields with the aim of extending to this setting the classical birational classification of projective varieties with tangent vector fields. We prove that any such a Kähler manifold $X$ admits an arbitrarily small deformation of a particular type which is a suspension over a torus; that is, a quotient of $F\times \mbb C^s$ fibering over a torus $T=\mbb C^s/Λ$. We derive some results dealing with the structure of such manifolds. In particular, we prove an extension of Calabi's theorem describing the …
In 1995, Dan Guan constructed examples of non-Kahler, simply-connected holomorphically symplectic manifolds. An alternative construction, using the Hilbert scheme of Kodaira-Thurston surface, was given by F. Bogomolov. We investigate topology and deformation theory of Bogomolov-Guan manifolds and show that it is similar to that of hyperkahler manifolds. We prove the local Torelli theorem, showing that holomorphically symplectic deformations of BG-manifolds are unobstructed, and the corresponding period map is locally a diffeomorphism. Using the local Torelli theorem, we prove the Fujiki formul…
We study the $(k,s)$-positivity for holomorphic vector bundles on compact complex manifolds. $(0,s)$-positivity is exactly the Demailly $s$-positivity and a $(k,1)$-positive line bundle is just a $k$-positive line bundle in the sense of Sommese. In this way we get a unified theory for all kinds of positivities used for semipositive vector bundles. Several new vanishing theorems for $(k,s)$-positive vector bundles are proved and the vanishing theorems for $k$-ample vector bundles on projective algebraic manifolds are generalized to $k$-positive vector bundles on compact Kähler manifolds.
We study holomorphic GL(2) and SL(2) geometries on compact complex manifolds. We show that a compact Kähler manifold of complex even dimension higher than two admitting a holomorphic GL(2)-geometry is covered by a compact complex torus. We classify compact Kähler-Einstein manifolds and Fano manifolds bearing holomorphic GL(2)-geometries. Among the compact Kähler-Einstein manifolds we prove that the only examples bearing holomorphic GL(2)-geometry are those covered by compact complex tori, the three dimensional quadric and those covered by the three dimensional Lie ball (the non compact dual of…
Let X --> B be a holomorphic submersion between compact Kahler manifolds of any dimension, whose fibres and base have no non-zero holomorphic vector fields and whose fibres all admit constant scalar curvature Kahler metrics. This article gives a sufficient topological condition for the existence of a constant scalar curvature Kahler metric on the total space X. The condition involves the CM-line bundle--a certain natural line bundle on B--which is proved to be nef. Knowing this, the condition is then implied by c_1(B)<0. This provides infinitely many Kahler manifolds of constant scalar curvatu…
Let $M=P(E)$ be the complex manifold underlying the total space of the projectivization of a holomorphic vector bundle $E \to Σ$ over a compact complex curve $Σ$ of genus $\ge 2$. Building on ideas of Fujiki, we prove that $M$ admits a Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature if and only if $E$ is polystable. We also address the more general existence problem of extremal Kähler metrics on such bundles and prove that the splitting of $E$ as a direct sum of stable subbundles is necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of extremal Kähler metrics in sufficiently small Kähler classes.…
On a compact Kähler manifold $X$ with a holomorphic 2-form $\a$, there is an almost complex structure associated with $\a$. We show how this implies vanishing theorems for the Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$. This extends the approach, used in \cite{lp} for Kähler surfaces, to higher dimensions.
We prove that one can obtain natural bundles of Lie algebras on rank two s-Kähler manifolds, whose fibres are isomorphic to so(s+1,s+1), su(s+1,s+1) and sl(2s + 2,\R). In the most rigid case (which includes complex tori and abelian varieties) these bundles have natural flat connections, whose flat global sections act naturally on cohomology. We also present several natural examples of manifolds which can be equipped with an s-Kähler structure with various levels of rigidity: complex tori and abelian varieties, cotangent bundles of smooth manifolds and moduli of pointed elliptic curves.
We prove that every holomorphic vector bundle on a noncommutative two-torus $T$ can be obtained by successive extensions from standard holomorphic bundles considered in math.QA/0211262. This implies that the category of holomorphic bundles on $T$ is equivalent to the heart of certain $t$-structure on the derived category of coherent sheaves on an elliptic curve.
Let $M$ be an irreducible smooth complex projective variety equipped with an action of a compact Lie group $G$, and let $({\mathcal L},h)$ be a $G$-equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle on $M$. Given a compact connected Riemann surface $X$, we construct a $G$-equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle $(L\,,H)$ on $X\times M$ (the action of $G$ on $X$ is trivial), such that the corresponding Quillen determinant line bundle $({\mathcal Q}, h_Q)$, which is a $G$--equivariant holomorphic Hermitian line bundle on $M$, is isomorphic to the given $G$--equivariant holomorphic Hermitian lin…
In arXiv:1008.1018 it is shown that a given stable vector bundle $V$ on a Calabi-Yau threefold $X$ which satisfies $c_2(X)=c_2(V)$ can be deformed to a solution of the Strominger system and the equations of motion of heterotic string theory. In this note we extend this result to the polystable case and construct explicit examples of polystable bundles on elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau threefolds where it applies. The polystable bundle is given by a spectral cover bundle, for the visible sector, and a suitably chosen bundle, for the hidden sector. This provides a new class of heterotic flux co…
In this paper we first show that on projective manifolds (M, ω), there are holomorphic determinant bundles (in the sense of Knusden-Mumford used by Bismut, Gillet, Soule) which play the role of the geometric quantum bundle, namely one for each input data of a Hermitian holomorphic line bundle L of non-trivial Chern class on a compact Kahler manifold Z (with Todd genus non-zero) and a choice of a geometric quantization of (M, ω). Next we further study the generalization of the vortex equations on Kahler 4-manifold which has been studied earlier by Bradlow. We show that when the Kahler 4-manifol…
In this paper, we introduce the notions of $α$-Hermitian-Einstein metric and $α$-stability for $I_\pm$-holomorphic vector bundles on bi-Hermitian manifolds. Moreover, we establish a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence for $I_\pm$-holomorphic vector bundles on bi-Hermitian manifolds. Examples of such vector bundles include generalized holomorphic bundles on generalized Kähler manifolds. We also show that $α$-stability of a vector bundle, in this sense, can depend on the parameter $α$.
