We prove two formulae which express the Alexander polynomial $Δ^C$ of several variables of a plane curve singularity $C$ in terms of the ring ${\cal O}_{C}$ of germs of analytic functions on the curve. One of them expresses $Δ^C$ in terms of dimensions of some factors corresponding to a (multi-indexed) filtration on the ring ${\cal O}_{C}$. The other one gives the coefficients of the Alexander polynomial $Δ^C$ as Euler characteristics of some explicitly described spaces (complements to arrangements of projective hyperplanes). The final version of this article will be published in the Duke Mathematical Journal.
Integration with respect to Euler characteristic over the projectivization of the space of functions and the Alexander polynomial of a plane curve singularity
Earlier it was described to which extent the Alexander polynomial in several variables of an algebraic link in the Poincaré sphere determines the topology of the link. It was shown that, except some explicitly described cases, the Alexander polynomial of an algebraic link determines the combinatorial type of the minimal resolution of the curve and therefore the topology of the corresponding link. The Alexander polynomial of an algebraic link in the Poincaré sphere coincides with the Poincaré series of the corresponding set of curve valuations. The latter one can be defined as an integral over …
The paper reviews recent developments in the study of Alexander invariants of quasi-projective manifolds using methods of singularity theory. Several results in topology of the complements to singular plane curves and hypersurfaces in projective space extended to the case of curves on simply connected smooth projective surfaces.
We show for an affine variety $X$, the derived category of quasi-coherent $D$-modules is equivalent to the category of DG modules over an explicit DG algebra, whose zeroth cohomology is the ring of Grothendieck differential operators $\operatorname{Diff}(X)$. When the variety is cuspidal, we show that this is just the usual ring $\operatorname{Diff}(X)$, and the equivalence is the abelian equivalence constructed by Ben-Zvi and Nevins. We compute the cohomology algebra and its natural modules in the hypersurface, curve and isolated quotient singularity cases. We identify cases where a $D$-modul…
Hironaka's characteristic polyhedron is an important combinatorial object reflecting the local nature of a singularity. We prove that it can be determined without passing to the completion if the local ring is a G-ring and if additionally either it is Henselian, or a certain polynomiality condition $ (\mathrm{Pol}) $ holds, or a mild condition $(*) $ on the singularity holds. For example, the latter is fulfilled if the residue field is perfect.
We develop a method of finding a Cox ring of a crepant resolution of a quotient singularity with a torus action and apply it to examples of symplectic quotient singularities in dimension 4. In addition we obtain a bound on the degrees of homogeneous generators of the Cox ring in a more general setup, based on the multigraded Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity and Kawamata-Viehweg vanishing.
In this paper we establish a precise comparison between vanishing cycles and the singularity category of Landau-Ginzburg models over a complete discrete valuation ring. By using noncommutative motives, we first construct a motivic $\ell$-adic realization functor for dg-categories. Our main result, then asserts that, given a Landau-Ginzburg model over a complete discrete valuation ring with potential induced by a uniformizer, the $\ell$-adic realization of its singularity category is given by the inertia-invariant part of vanishing cohomology. We also prove a functorial and $\infty$-categorical…
Given a polynomial $W$ with an isolated singularity, we can consider the Jacobian ring as an invariant of the singularity. If in addition we have a group action on the polynomial ring with $W$ fixed, we are led to consider the twisted Jacobian ring which reflects the equivariant structure as well. Our main result is to show that the twisted Jacobian ring is isomorphic to an endomorphism ring of the "twisted diagonal" matrix factorization. As an application, we suggest a way to investigate Floer theory of Lagrangian submanifolds which represent homological mirror functors.
The Hikita conjecture relates the coordinate ring of a conical symplectic singularity to the cohomology ring of a symplectic resolution of the dual conical symplectic singularity. We formulate a quantum version of this conjecture, which relates the quantized coordinate ring of the first variety to the quantum cohomology of a symplectic resolution of the dual variety. We prove this conjecture for hypertoric varieties and for the Springer resolution. Our paper includes an appendix, written by Ben Webster, which studies highest weights for quantizations of symplectic resolutions with isolated tor…
