In this paper we generalize work of Amice and Lazard from the early (nineteen) sixties. Amice determined the dual of the space of locally Qp-analytic functions on Zp and showed that it is isomorphic to the ring of rigid functions on the open unit disk over Cp. Lazard showed that this ring has a divisor theory and that the classes of closed, finitely generated, and principal ideals in this ring coincide.
We study the space of locally L-analytic functions on the ring of integers in L, where L is a finite extension of Qp. We show that the dual of this space is a ring isomorphic to the ring of rigid functions on a certain rigid variety X. We show that the variety X is isomorphic to the open unit disk over Cp, but not over any discretely valued extension field of L; it is a "twisted form" of the open unit disk. In the ring of functions on X, the classes of closed, finitely generated, and invertible ideals coincide, but unless L=Qp not all finitely generated ideals are principal.
The paper uses Lubin-Tate theory and results on p-adic Hodge theory. We give several applications, including one to the construction of p-adic L-functions for supersingular elliptic curves.
The $p$-adic $q$-integral (= $I_q$-integral) was defined by author in the previous paper [1, 3]. In this paper, we consider $I_q$-Fourier transform and investigate some properties which are related to this transform.
Let F be a finite extension of Q_p. We show that every Schwartz function on F, with values in an algebraic closure of Q_p, is the uniform limit of a sequence of Schwartz functions, whose Fourier transforms tend uniformly to 0. The proof uses the notion of q-binomial coefficients and some classical identities between them.
This paper is a continuation of the author's previous work, where we studied the variation of the number of isomorphic classes of $G_{\mathbb{Q}}$-stable lattices in p-adic families of residually reducible ordinary Galois representations. In this paper, we study the number of isomorphic classes of $G_{\mathbb{Q}}$-stable free lattices in a residually reducible Hida deformation and the variation of their related two-variable algebraic $p$-adic $L$-functions. This result gives an answer of a question asked by Ochiai.
It is shown that the $p$-adic Banach spaces introduced by Emerton are isomorphic to the cohomology groups of the sheaf of continuous $\Q_{p}$-valued functions on a certain space. Some applications of this result are discussed.
In this note we give a detailed construction of a $Λ$-adic $\mathfrak{d}$-th Shintani lifting. We derive a $Λ$-adic version of Kohnen's formula relating Fourier coefficients of half-integral weight modular forms and special values of twisted L-series. As a by-product, we derive a mild generalization of such classical formulae, and also point out a relation between Fourier coefficients of $Λ$-adic $\d$-th Shintani liftings and Stark--Heegner points.
In this paper we study special bases of certain spaces of half-integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms. We establish a criterion for the integrality of Fourier coefficients of such bases. By using recursive relations between Hecke operators, we derive relations of Fourier coefficients of each basis element and obtain congruences of the Fourier coefficients, which extend known congruences for traces of singular moduli.
Building on work of Crew, we give a rigid cohomological analogue of the main result of Deligne's "Weil II"; this makes it possible to give a purely p-adic proof of the Weil conjectures. Ingredients include a p-adic analogue of Laumon's application of the geometric Fourier transform in the l-adic setting, as well as recent results on p-adic differential equations, due to Andre, Christol, Crew, Kedlaya, Matsuda, Mebkhout, and Tsuzuki.
Let G be a connected simple adjoint p-adic group not isomorphic to a projective linear group PGL(m,D) of a division algebra D, or an adjoint ramified unitary group of a split hermitian form in 3 variables. We prove that G admits an irreducible admissible supercuspidal (i.e. supersingular) representation over any field of characteristic p.
Serre obtained the p-adic limit of the integral Fourier coefficient of modular forms on $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$ for $p=2,3,5,7$. In this paper, we extend the result of Serre to weakly holomorphic modular forms of half integral weight on $Γ_{0}(4N)$ for $N=1,2,4$. A proof is based on linear relations among Fourier coefficients of modular forms of half integral weight. As applications we obtain congruences of Borcherds exponents, congruences of quotient of Eisentein series and congruences of values of $L$-functions at a certain point are also studied. Furthermore, the congruences of the Fourier coeff…
We study the relation of the middle convolution to the $\ell$-adic Fourier transformation in the étale context. Using Katz' work and Laumon's theory of local Fourier transformations we obtain a detailed description of the local monodromy and the determinant of Katz' middle convolution functor $\MC_χ$ in the tame case. The theory of local $ε$-constants then implies that the property of an étale sheaf of having an at most quadratic determinant is often preserved under $\MC_χ$ if $χ$ is quadratic.
We calculate the local Fourier transformations for a class of $\bar{\mathbb Q}_\ell$-sheaves. In particular, we verify a conjecture of Laumon and Malgrange. As an application, we calculate the local monodromy of $\ell$-adic hypergeometric sheaves introduced by Katz. We also discuss the characteristic $p$ analogue of the Turrittin-Levelt Theorem for $D$-modules. The method used in this paper can be used to show a conjecture of Ramero which states that the Fourier transformation of an analytic sheaf with meromorphic ramification still has meromorphic ramification.
Let V be a p-adic representation of the absolute Galois group G of Q_p that becomes crystalline over a finite tame extension, and assume p odd. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for V to be isomorphic to the Tate module V_p(A) of an abelian variety A defined over Q_p. These conditions are stated on the filtered (ϕ,G)-module attached to V.
We give the p-adic and F_q((t)) analogue of the real van der Corput Lemma, where the real condition of sufficient smoothness for the phase is replaced by the condition that the phase is a convergent power series. This van der Corput style result allows us, in analogy to the real situation, to study singular Fourier transforms on suitably curved (analytic) manifolds and opens the way for further applications. As one such further application we give the restriction theorem for Fourier transforms of L^p functions to suitably curved analytic manifolds over non-archimedean local fields, similar to …
Let $E_{/_\Q}$ be an elliptic curve of conductor $Np$ with $p\nmid N$ and let $f$ be its associated newform of weight 2. Denote by $f_\infty$ the $p$-adic Hida family passing though $f$, and by $F_\infty$ its $Λ$-adic Saito-Kurokawa lift. The $p$-adic family $F_\infty$ of Siegel modular forms admits a formal Fourier expansion, from which we can define a family of normalized Fourier coefficients $\{\widetilde A_T(k)\}_T$ indexed by positive definite symmetric half-integral matrices $T$ of size $2\times 2$. We relate explicitly certain global points on $E$ (coming from the theory of Stark-Heegne…
Let f be a modular form with complex multiplication. If f has critical slope, then Coleman's classicality theorem implies that there is a p-adic overconvergent generalized Hecke eigenform with the same Hecke eigenvalues as f. We give a formula for the Fourier coefficiets of this generalized Hecke eigenform. We also investigate the dimension of the generalized Hecke eigenspace of p-adic overconvergent forms containing f.
In this article, we give an explicit construction of the $p$-adic Fourier transform by Schneider and Teitelbaum, which allows for the investigation of the integral property. As an application, we give a certain integral basis of the space of $K$-locally analytic functions on the ring of integers $\mathcal{O}_K$ for any finite extension $K$ of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, generalizing the basis constructed by Amice for locally analytic functions on $\mathbb{Z}_p$. We also use our result to prove congruences of Bernoulli-Hurwitz numbers at non-ordinary (i.e. supersingular) primes originally investigated by K…
Given an elliptic curve $E$ over a local field $K$ with residue characteristic $3$, we investigate the action of the absolute Galois group of $K$ in the case of potentially good reduction. In particular the only not completely known case is that of the $\ell$-adic Galois representation attached to an elliptic curve such that the image of inertia is non-cyclic, and isomorphic to $C_3 \rtimes C_4$. In this work we describe such a representation explicitly.
We prove hypergeometric type identities for a function defined in terms of quotients of the $p$-adic gamma function. We use these identities to prove a supercongruence conjecture of Rodriguez-Villegas between a truncated $_4F_3$ hypergeometric series and the Fourier coefficients of certain weight four modular form.
In this paper we establish certain identities connecting $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with 4-th twisted Kloosterman sheaf sum. To prove these identities we express certain character sum over finite field in terms of special values of $p$-adic hypergeometric functions. One conjecture of Evans behaves as a bridge to connect $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with Kloosterman sheaf sum. We also connect $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with Fourier coefficients of certain modular forms.
We derive an inequality on the discrepancy of sequences on the ring of $p$-adic integers $\ZZ_p$ using techniques from Fourier analysis. The inequality is used to obtain an upper bound on the discrepancy of the sequence $α_n = na +b$, where $a$ and $b$ are elements of $\ZZ_p$. This is a $p$-adic analogue of the classical LeVeque inequality on the circle group $\RR/\ZZ$.
We introduce an analog of part of the Langlands-Shahidi method to the p-adic setting, constructing reciprocals of certain p-adic L-functions using the nonconstant terms of the Fourier expansions of Eisenstein series. We carry out the method for the group SL(2), and give explicit p-adic measures whose Mellin transforms are reciprocals of Dirichlet L-functions.
We define and study an $\ell$-adic Fourier transform for a relative version of Banach-Colmez spaces (over a perfectoid space which is not necessarily a geometric point), which can be thought of as some analytic analogue of the $\ell$-adic Fourier transform for unipotent perfect group schemes. We explicitly describe it on some examples.
We examine the Fourier coefficients of modular forms in a canonical basis for the spaces of weakly holomorphic modular forms of weights 4, 6, 8, 10, and 14, and show that these coefficients are often highly divisible by the primes 2, 3, and 5.
Following Sun and Moll, we study v_p(T(N)), the p-adic valuation of the counting function of the alternating sign matrices. We find an exact analytic expression for it that exhibits the fluctuating behaviour, by means of Fourier coefficients. The method is the Mellin-Perron technique, which is familiar in the analysis of the sum-of-digits function and related quantities.
Laumon introduced the local Fourier transform for $\ell$-adic Galois representations of local fields, of equal characteristic $p$ different from $\ell$, as a powerful tool to study the Fourier-Deligne transform of $\ell$-adic sheaves over the affine line. In this article, we compute explicitly the local Fourier transform of monomial representations satisfying a certain ramification condition, and deduce Laumon's formula relating the epsilon factor to the determinant of the local Fourier transform under the same condition.
For ψa nontrivial additive character on the finite field F_q, the map t \mapsto \sum_{x \in F_q} ψ(f(x)+tx) is the Fourier transform of the map t \mapsto ψ(f(t))$. As is well-known, this has a cohomological interpretation, producing a continuous ell-adic Galois representation. This paper studies the L-function attached to the k-th symmetric power of this representation using both ell-adic and p-adic methods. Using ell-adic techniques, we give an explicit formula for the degree of this L-function and determine the complex absolute values of its roots. Using p-adic techniques, we study the p-adi…
The Fourier coefficients of the Siegel-Eisenstein series are p-adically continued for all primes p, as meromorphic functions, using the reciprocal of a product of L-functions. A construction of p-adic meromorphic families of such series is given in relation to the geometry of homogeneous spaces. Applications are given to p-adic L-functions, to Siegel's Mass Formula, to p-adic analytic families of automorphic representations. Based on author's talk for the Conference Automorphic Forms and Related Geometry, Assessing the Legacy of I.I. Piatetski-Shapiro
With respect to the analytic-algebraic dichotomy, the theory of Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight is lopsided; the analytic theory is strong whereas the algebraic lags behind. In this paper, we capitalise on this to establish the fundamental object needed for the analytic side of the Iwasawa main conjecture -- the $p$-adic $L$-function obtained by interpolating the complex $L$-function at special values. This is achieved through the Rankin-Selberg method and the explicit Fourier expansion of non-holomorphic Siegel Eisenstein series. The construction of the $p$-stabilisation in this …
We study spherical functions on the space isomorphic to $U(2n)/(U(n)\times U(n))$ over a $p$-adic field; those functional equations with respect to the action of the Weyl group, the location of possible poles and zeros, explicit formulas, and spherical Fourier transforms. Then, as an application, we give a functional equation of $p$-adic local hermitian Siegel series.
For $K$ an imaginary quadratic field with discriminant $-D_K$ and associated quadratic Galois character $χ_K$, Kojima, Gritsenko and Krieg studied a Hermitian Maass lift of elliptic modular cusp forms of level $D_K$ and nebentypus $χ_K$ via Hermitian Jacobi forms to Hermitian modular forms of level one for the unitary group $U(2,2)$ split over $K$. We generalize this (under certain conditions on $K$ and $p$) to the case of $p$-oldforms of level $pD_K$ and character $χ_K$. To do this, we define an appropriate Hermitian Maass space for general level and prove that it is isomorphic to the space o…
We introduce a certain ring of rigid-analytic distributions on $p$-adic weight space (modulo torsion) and show that it is canonically isomorphic to Colmez's ring $B_{\mathrm{Sen}}$.
We compute generators and relations for a certain $2$-adic Hecke algebra of level $8$ associated with the double cover of $\mathrm{SL}_2$ and a $2$-adic Hecke algebra of level $4$ associated with $\mathrm{PGL}_2$. We show that these two Hecke algebras are isomorphic as expected from the Shimura correspondence. We use the $2$-adic generators to define classical Hecke operators on the space of holomorphic modular forms of weight $k+1/2$ and level $8M$ where $M$ is odd and square-free. Using these operators and our previous results on half-integral weight forms of level $4M$ we define a subspace …
We investigate the space $X$ of unitary hermitian matrices over $\frp$-adic fields through spherical functions. First we consider Cartan decomposition of $X$, and give precise representatives for fields with odd residual characteristic, i.e., $2\notin \frp$. In the latter half we assume odd residual characteristic, and give explicit formulas of typical spherical functions on $X$, where Hall-Littlewood symmetric polynomials of type $C_n$ appear as a main term, parametrization of all the spherical functions. By spherical Fourier transform, we show the Schwartz space $\SKX$ is a free Hecke algebr…
We investigate recursive properties of certain p-adic Whittaker functions (of which representation densities of quadratic forms are special values). The proven relations can be used to compute them explicitly in arbitrary dimensions, provided that enough information about the orbits under the orthogonal group acting on the representations is available. These relations have implications for the first and second special derivatives of the Euler product over all p of these Whittaker functions. These Euler products appear as the main part of the Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series associated…
We determine the structure modulo p of the de Rham-Witt complex of a smooth scheme X over a discrete valuation ring of mixed characteristic with log-poles along the special fiber Y and show that the sub-sheaf fixed by the Frobenius is isomorphic to the sheaf of p-adic vanishing cycles. We use this together with results of the second author and Madsen to evaluate the $K$-theory with finite coefficients of the quotient field K of the henselian local ring of X at a generic point of Y. The result affirms the Lichtenbaum-Quillen conjecture for the field K.
We investigate the action of the Weil group on the compactly supported l-adic cohomology groups of rigid spaces over local fields. We prove that every eigenvalue of the action is a Weil number when either a rigid space is smooth or the characteristic of the base field is equal to 0. Since a smooth rigid space is locally isomorphic to the Raynaud generic fiber of an algebraizable formal scheme, we can use the techniques of alterations and monodromy spectral sequences in the smooth case. In the general case, we use the continuity theorem of Huber, which requires the restriction on the characteri…
In this paper we consider the (affine) Schur algebra introduced by Vignéras as the endomorphism algebra of certain permutation modules for the Iwahori-Matsumoto Hecke algebra. This algebra describes, for a general linear group over a $p$-adic field, a large part of the unipotent block over fields of characteristic different from $p$. We show that this Schur algebra is, after a suitable completion, isomorphic to the quiver Schur algebra attached to the cyclic quiver. The isomorphism is explicit, but nontrivial. As a consequence, the completed (affine) Schur algebra inherits a grading. As a bypr…
We the study of the monodromy of local systems with bounded ramification on a punctured disc defined over a non-archimedean valued field of characteristic zero. First, we construct the local Fourier transforms and we establish their main properties. Also, we show that the Fourier transform of a "perverse sheaf" with bounded ramification on the affine line, is again a "perverse sheaf" with bounded ramification (we put that in quotes, because actually the language of perversity is not used). These foundations are then used to exhibit a natural break decomposition for local systems with bounded r…
We establish an invariant local trace formula for the tangent space of some symmetric spaces over a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero. These symmetric spaces are studied in Guo-Jacquet trace formulae and our methods are inspired by works of Waldspurger and Arthur. Some other results are given during the proof including a noninvariant local trace formula, Howe's finiteness for weighted orbital integrals and the representability of the Fourier transform of weighted orbital integrals. These local results are prepared for the comparison of regular semi-simple terms, which are weig…
We study variants of the well-known Collatz graph, by considering the action of the 3n+1 function on congruence classes. For moduli equal to powers of 2, these graphs are shown to be isomorphic to binary De Bruijn graphs. Unlike the Collatz graph, these graphs are very structured, and have several interesting properties. We then look at a natural generalization of these finite graphs to the 2-adic integers, and show that the isomorphism between these infinite graphs is exactly the conjugacy map previously studied by Bernstein and Lagarias. Finally, we show that for generalizations of the 3n+1 …
We introduce spaces of exponential constructible functions in the motivic setting for which we construct direct image functors in the absolute and relative cases. This allows us to define a motivic Fourier transformation for which we get various inversion statements. We define also motivic Schwartz-Bruhat spaces on which motivic Fourier transformation induces an isomorphism. Our motivic integrals specialize to non archimedian integrals. We give a general transfer principle comparing identities between functions defined by integrals over local fields of characteristic zero, resp. positive, havi…
