$p$-Adic hypergeometric functions in the connections with certain twisted Kloosterman sheaf sum and modular forms

In this paper we establish certain identities connecting $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with 4-th twisted Kloosterman sheaf sum. To prove these identities we express certain character sum over finite field in terms of special values of $p$-adic hypergeometric functions. One conjecture of Evans behaves as a bridge to connect $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with Kloosterman sheaf sum. We also connect $p$-adic hypergeometric functions with Fourier coefficients of certain modular forms.

Functional Equations of $L$-Functions for Symmetric Products of the Kloosterman Sheaf

We determine the (arithmetic) local monodromy at 0 and at $\infty$ of the Kloosterman sheaf using local Fourier transformations and Laumon's stationary phase principle. We then calculate $ε$-factors for symmetric products of the Kloosterman sheaf. Using Laumon's product formula, we get functional equations of $L$-functions for these symmetric products, and prove a conjecture of Evans on signs of constants of functional equations.

Monodromy groups of certain Kloosterman and hypergeometric sheaves

A certain "condition (S)" on reductive algebraic groups was introduced in [GT2], in which a slightly stronger condition (S+) was shown to have very strong consequences. We show that a wide class of Kloosterman and hypergeometric sheaves satisfy (S+). For this class of sheaves, we determine possible structure of their monodromy groups.

L-functions of Symmetric Products of the Kloosterman Sheaf over Z

The classical $n$-variable Kloosterman sums over the finite field ${\bf F}_p$ give rise to a lisse $\bar {\bf Q}_l$-sheaf ${\rm Kl}_{n+1}$ on ${\bf G}_{m, {\bf F}_p}={\bf P}^1_{{\bf F}_p}-\{0,\infty\}$, which we call the Kloosterman sheaf. Finite hypergeometric functions

Finite hypergeometric functions are complex valued functions on finite fields which are the analogue of the classical analytic hypergeometric functions. From the work of N.M.Katz it follows that their values are traces of Frobenius on certain l-adic sheafs. More concretely, in many instances their values can be used to give formulas for pointcounts of F_q-rational points on certain varieties. In this paper we work out the case of one-variable functions whose monodromy in the analytic case can be defined over the rational integers.

On unit root formulas for toric exponential sums

Starting from a classical generating series for Bessel functions due to Schlomilch, we use Dwork's relative dual theory to broadly generalize unit-root results of Dwork on Kloosterman sums and Sperber on hyperkloosterman sums. To a torus action on a complex vector space, Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky introduce a system of differential equations, which are now called the GKZ hypergeometric system. Sums of algebraic trace functions twisted by arithmetic functions

We obtain new bounds for short sums of isotypic trace functions associated to some sheaf modulo prime $p$ of bounded conductor, twisted by the Mobius function and also by the generalised divisor function. These trace functions include Kloosterman sums and several other classical number theoretic objects.
