Let g be an untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebra and M_J(lambda) a Verma-type module for g with J-highest integral weight lambda. We construct quantum Verma-type modules M_J^q(lambda) over the quantum group U_q(g), investigate their properties and show that M_J^q(lambda) is a true quantum deformation of M_J(ł) in the sense that the weight structure is preserved under the deformation. We also analyze the submodule structure of quantum Verma-type modules.
Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules, and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated, and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular, imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.
Let B be the Lie algebra with basis {L_{i,j},C|i,j\in Z} and relations [L_{i,j},L_{k,l}]=((j+1)k-i(l+1))L_{i+k,j+l}+iδ_{i,-k}δ_{j+l,-2}C, [C,L_{i,j}]=0. It is proved that an irreducible highest weight B-module is quasifinite if and only if it is a proper quotient of a Verma module. For an additive subgroup G of the base field F, there corresponds to a Lie algebra B(G) of Block type. Given a totalorder \succ on G and a weight Λ, a Verma B(G)-module M(Λ,\succ) is defined. The irreducibility of M(Λ,\succ) is completely determined.
We find sufficient conditions for the construction of vertex algebraic intertwining operators, among generalized Verma modules for an affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$, from $\mathfrak{g}$-module homomorphisms. When $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}_2$, these results extend previous joint work with J. Yang, but the method used here is different. Here, we construct intertwining operators by solving Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations for three-point correlation functions associated to $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$, and we identify obstructions to the construction arising from the possible non-existence of …
The exceptional infinite-dimensional linearly compact simple Lie superalgebra ${E}(5,10)$, which Kac believes, is the algebra of symmetries of the ${SU}_{5}$ Grand Unified Model. In this paper, we give a proof of Kac and Rudakov's conjecture about the classification of all the degenerate generalized Verma module over ${E}(5,10)$. Also, we work out all the nontrivial singular vectors degree by degree. It is a potential that the representation theory of ${E}(5,10)$ will shed new light on various features of the the ${SU}_{5}$ Grand unified model.
We consider imaginary Verma modules for quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)})$ and construct Kashiwara type operators and the Kashiwara algebra $\mathcal K_q$. We show that a certain quotient $\mathcal N_q^-$ of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)})$ is a simple $\mathcal K_q$-module.
In [ZH], R.B. Zhang found a way to link certain formal deformations of the Lie algebra o(2l+1) and the Lie superalgebra osp(1,2l). The aim of this article is to reformulate the Zhang transformation in the context of the quantum enveloping algebras "à la" Drinfeld-Jimbo and to show how this construction can explain the main theorem of [GL2]: the annihilator of a Verma module over the Lie superalgebra osp(1,2l) is generated by its intersection with the centralizer of the even part of the enveloping algbra.
Irreducibilities of Verma modules over a class of Block type Lie algebras are completely determined. The approach developed in the present paper can be used to deal with non-weight modules.
We consider imaginary Verma modules for quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$, where $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ is of type 1 i.e. of non-twisted type, and construct Kashiwara type operators and the Kashiwara algebra $\mathcal K_q$. We show that a certain quotient $\mathcal N_q^-$ of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ is a simple $\mathcal K_q$-module.
The character formula of any finite dimensional irreducible module for Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{osp}(3|2m)$ is obtained in terms of characters of generalized Verma modules.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a reductive Lie algebra. We give a condition that ensures that the character of a generalized Verma module is well-behaved under a twisting functor. We show that a similar result holds for basic classical simple Lie superalgebras, and generalize a result from \cite{CM} about twisting Verma modules.
We study the Verma modules M(mu(u)) over the Yangian Y(a) associated with a simple Lie algebra a. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for irreducibility of M(mu(u)). Moreover, regarding the simple quotient L(mu(u)) of M(mu(u)) as an a-module, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for finite-dimensionality of the weight subspaces of L(mu(u)).
The Misra-Miwa $v$-deformed Fock space is a representation of the quantized affine algebra of type A. It has a standard basis indexed by partitions and the non-zero matrix entries of the action of the Chevalley generators with respect to this basis are powers of $v$. Partitions also index the polynomial Weyl modules for the quantum group $U_q(gl_N)$ as $N$ tends to infinity. We explain how the powers of $v$ which appear in the Misra-Miwa Fock space also appear naturally in the context of Weyl modules. The main tool we use is the Shapovalov determinant for a universal Verma module
We prove the existence of a homomorphism of vertex algebras, from the vacuum Verma module over the loop algebra of an untwisted affine algebra, whose construction is analogous to that of the Feigin-Frenkel homomorphism from the vacuum Verma module at critical level over an affine algebra.
We study in detail the semi-infinite or BRST cohomology of general affine Lie algebras. This cohomology is relevant in the BRST approach to gauged WZNW models. We prove the existence of an infinite sequence of elements in the cohomology for non-zero ghost numbers. This will imply that the BRST approach to topological WZNW model admits many more states than a conventional coset construction. This conclusion also applies to some non-topological models. Our work will also contain results on the structure of Verma modules over affine Lie algebras. In particular, we generalize the results of Verma …
We construct vertex algebraic intertwining operators among certain generalized Verma modules for $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{C})}$ and calculate the corresponding fusion rules. Additionally, we show that under some conditions these intertwining operators descend to intertwining operators among one generalized Verma module and two (generally non-standard) irreducible modules. Our construction relies on the irreducibility of the maximal proper submodules of generalized Verma modules appearing in the Garland-Lepowsky resolutions of standard $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{C})}$-modules. W…
Some natural hidden symmetries in the Verma modules over the Virasoro algebra are constructed in terms of geometric quantization. Their differential geometric meaning is established and their expression via $q_R$-conformal symmetries in the Verma modules over the Lie algebra $sl(2,C)$ is found. The analysis and the unraveling of the algebraic structure of these families of hidden symmetries are performed.
We introduce an odd double affine Hecke algebra (DaHa) generated by a classical Weyl group W and two skew-polynomial subalgebras of anticommuting generators. This algebra is shown to be Morita equivalent to another new DaHa which are generated by W and two polynomial-Clifford subalgebras. There is yet a third algebra containing a spin Weyl group algebra which is Morita (super)equivalent to the above two algebras. We establish the PBW properties and construct Verma-type representations via Dunkl operators for these algebras.
We describe the structure of the irreducible highest weight modules for the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro Lie algebra at level zero. We prove that such a module is either isomorphic to a Verma module or to a quotient of two Verma modules.
We classify and explicitly construct the embedding diagrams of Verma modules over the N=2 supersymmetric extension of the Virasoro algebra. The essential ingredient of the solution consists in drawing the distinction between two different types of submodules appearing in N=2 Verma modules. The problem is simplified by associating to every N=2 Verma module a relaxed Verma module over the affine algebra ^sl(2) with an isomorphic embedding diagram. We then make use of the mechanism according to which the structure of the N=2/relaxed-sl(2) embedding diagrams can be found knowing the standard embed…
For a field $F$ of characteristic zero and an additive subgroup $G$ of $F$, a Lie algebra $B(G)$ of lock type is defined with basis $\{L_{a,i},c|a \in G, i>-2\}$ and relations $[L_{a,i},L_{b,j}]=((i+1)b-(j+1)a)L_{a+b,i+j}+a\d_{a,-b}\d_{i+j,-2}c, [c,L_{a,i}]=0.$ Given a total order $\succ$ on $G$ compatible with its group structure, and any $Λ\in B(G)_0^*$, a Verma $B(G)$-module $M(Λ,\succ)$ is defined, and the irreducibility of $M(Λ,\succ)$ is completely determined. Furthermore, it is proved that an irreducible highest weight $B(Z)$-module is quasifinite if and only if it is a proper quotient …
The functors constructed by Arakawa and the author relate the representation theory of gl_n and that of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra H_l of GL_l. They transform the Verma modules over gl_n to the standard modules over H_l. They transform the simple modules to the simple modules. We also prove that they transform the Jantzen filtration on the Verma modules to that on the standard modules. We obtain the following results for the representations of H_l by translating the corresponding results for gl_n through the functors: (i) the (generalized) Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand resolution for a ce…
Let $\mathbb{F}$ be a field of characteristic 0, $G$ an additive subgroup of $\mathbb{F}$, $α\in \mathbb{F}$ satisfying $α\notin G, 2α\in G$. We define a class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras which are called generalized Schrödinger-Virasoro algebras and use $\mathfrak{gsv}[G,α]$ to denote the one corresponding to $G$ and $α$. In this paper the automorphism group and irreducibility of Verma modules for $\mathfrak{gsv}[G,α]$ are completely determined.
It is known that symmetric orbits in ${\bf g}^*$ for any simple Lie algebra ${\bf g}$ are equiped with a Poisson pencil generated by the Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau bracket and the reduced Sklyanin bracket associated to the "canonical" R-matrix. We realize quantization of this Poisson pencil on $\cp$ type orbits (i.e. orbits in $sl(n+1)^*$ whose real compact form is $ CP^n$) by means of q-deformed Verma modules.
Highest weight modules of the double affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}}_{2}$ are studied under a new triangular decomposition. Singular vectors of Verma modules are determined using a similar condition with horizontal affine Lie subalgebras, and highest weight modules are described under the condition that $c_1>0$ and $c_2=0$.
We construct a monomorphism of the De Rham complex of scalar multivalued meromorphic forms on the projective line, holomorphic on the complement to a finite set of points, to the chain complex of the Lie algebra of $sl_2$-valued algebraic functions on the same complement with coefficients in a tensor product of contragradient Verma modules over the affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}_2$. We show that the existence of singular vectors in the Verma modules (the Malikov-Feigin-Fuchs singular vectors) is reflected in the new relations between the cohomology classes of logarithmic differential forms.
We compute the algebras of self-extensions of the vacuum module and the Verma modules over an affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ in suitable categories of Harish-Chandra modules. We show that at the critical level these algebras are isomorphic to the algebras of differential forms on various spaces of opers associated to the Langlands dual Lie algebra of g, whereas away from the critical level they become trivial. These results rely on and generalize the description of the corresponding algebras of endomorphisms obtained by Feigin and Frenkel and the description of the corresponding graded versions d…
The aim of this work is to construct the quasi-particle basis of principal subspace of standard module of highest weight $kΛ_0$ of level $k\geq 1$ of affine Lie algebra of type $G_2^{(1)}$ by means of which we obtain the basis of principal subspace of generalized Verma module.
The present paper contains two interrelated developments. First, are proposed new generalized Verma modules. They are called k-Verma modules, k\in N, and coincide with the usual Verma modules for k=1. As a vector space a k-Verma module is isomorphic to the symmetric tensor product of k copies of the universal enveloping algebra U(g^-), where g^- is the subalgebra of lowering generators in the standard triangular decomposition of a simple Lie algebra g = g^+ \oplus h \oplus g^- . The second development is the proposal of a procedure for the construction of multilinear intertwining differential …
Modules over affine Lie superalgebras ${\cal G}$ are studied, in particular, for ${\cal G}=\hat{OSP(1,2)}$. It is shown that on studying Verma modules, much of the results in Kac-Moody algebra can be generalized to the super case. Of most importance are the generalized Kac-Kazhdan formula and the Malikov-Feigin-Fuchs construction, which give the weights and the explicit form of the singular vectors in the Verma module over affine Kac-Moody superalgebras. We have also considered the decomposition of the admissible representation of $\hat{OSP(1,2)}$ into that of $\hat{SL(2)}\otimes$Virasoro alge…
Let $g$ be an exceptional Lie superalgebra, and let $p$ be the maximal parabolic subalgebra which contains the distinguished Borel subalgebra and has a purely even Levi subalgebra. For any parabolic Verma module in the parabolic category $O^p$, it is shown that the Jantzen filtration is the unique Loewy filtration, and the decomposition numbers of the layers of the filtration are determined by the coefficients of inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. An explicit description of the submodule lattices of the parabolic Verma modules is given, and formulae for characters and dimensions of the finit…
Using principal series Harish-Chandra modules, local cohomology with support in Schubert cells and twisting functors we construct certain modules parametrized by the Weyl group and a highest weight in the subcategory O of the category of representations of a complex semisimple Lie algebra. These are in a sense modules between a Verma module and its dual. We prove that the three different approaches lead to the same modules. Moreover, we demonstrate that they possess natural Jantzen type filtrations with corresponding sum formulae.
We consider two complexes. The first complex is the twisted de Rham complex of scalar meromorphic differential forms on projective line, holomorphic on the complement to a finite set of points. The second complex is the chain complex of the Lie algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-valued algebraic functions on the same complement, with coefficients in a tensor product of contragradient Verma modules over the affine Lie algebra $\hat{{\mathfrak{sl}_2}}$. In [Schechtman V., Varchenko A., Mosc. Math. J. 17 (2017), 787-802] a construction of a monomorphism of the first complex to the second was suggested …
We consider principal subspaces $W_{L(kΛ_0)}$ and $W_{N(kΛ_0)}$ of standard module $L(kΛ_0)$ and generalized Verma module $N(kΛ_0)$ at level $k\geq 1$ for affine Lie algebra of type $B_2^{(1)}$. By using the theory of vertex operator algebras, we find combinatorial bases of principal ubspaces in terms of quasi-particles. From quasi-particle bases, we obtain character formulas for $W_{L(kΛ_0)}$ and $W_{N(kΛ_0)}$.
We consider the principal subspaces of certain level $k\geqslant 1$ integrable highest weight modules and generalized Verma modules for the untwisted affine Lie algebras in types $D$, $E$ and $F$. Generalizing the approach of G. Georgiev we construct their quasi-particle bases. We use the bases to derive presentations of the principal subspaces, calculate their character formulae and find some new combinatorial identities.
In this paper, we study the representation theory for the affine Lie algebra $\H$ associated to the Nappi-Witten model $H_{4}$. We classify all the irreducible highest weight modules of $\H$. Furthermore, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for each $\H$-(generalized) Verma module to be irreducible. For reducible ones, we characterize all the linearly independent singular vectors. Finally, we construct Wakimoto type modules for these Lie algebras and interpret this construction in terms of vertex operator algebras and their modules.
Generalizing our earlier work, we construct quasi-particle bases of principal subspaces of standard module $L_{X_l^{(1)}}(kΛ_0)$ and generalized Verma module $N_{X_l^{(1)}}(kΛ_0)$ at level $k\geq 1$ in the case of affine Lie algebras of types $B_l^{(1)}$ and $C_l^{(1)}$. As a consequence, from quasi-particle bases, we obtain the graded dimensions of these subspaces.
We define an affine Jacquet functor and use it to describe the structure of induced affine Harish-Chandra modules at noncritical levels, extending the theorem of Kac and Kazhdan [KK] on the structure of Verma modules in the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand categories O for Kac-Moody algebras. This is combined with a vanishing result for certain extension groups to construct a block decomposition of the categories of affine Harish-Chandra modules of Lian and Zuckerman [LZ]. The latter provides an extension of the works of Rocha-Caridi, Wallach [RW] and Deodhar, Gabber, Kac [DGK] on block decomposition…
We introduce the techniques of semiregular bimodules over a Lie algebra with respect to a Lie subalgebra. Using this techniques in the case of affine Lie algebras we introduce twisting functors on the categories of modules. These functors are enumerated by elements of the affine Weyl group corresponding to the chosen affine Lie algebra and map Verma modules to so called twisted Verma modules. Applying twisting functors to the BGG resolution of an integrable simple module we obtain a sequence of complexes called the twisted BGG resolutions. We show that the twisted BGG resolutions form an induc…
We examine the structure of the insertion-elimination Lie algebra on rooted trees introduced in \cite{CK}. It possesses a triangular structure $\g = \n_+ \oplus \mathbb{C}.d \oplus \n_-$, like the Heisenberg, Virasoro, and affine algebras. We show in particular that it is simple, which in turn implies that it has no finite-dimensional representations. We consider a category of lowest-weight representations, and show that irreducible representations are uniquely determined by a "lowest weight" $λ\in \mathbb{C}$. We show that each irreducible representation is a quotient of a Verma-type object, …
Let $N_{k} (\g)$ be a vertex operator algebra (VOA) associated to the generalized Verma module for affine Lie algebra of type $A_{\ell -1} ^{(1)}$ or $C_{\ell} ^{(1)}$. We construct a family of ideals $J_{m,n} (\g)$ in $N_{k} (\g)$, and a family $V_{m,n} (\g)$ of quotient VOAs. These families include VOAs associated to the integrable representations, and VOAs associated to admissible representations at half-integer levels investigated in q-alg/9502015. We also explicitly identify the Zhu's algebras $A(V_{m,n} (\g))$ and find a connection between these Zhu's algebras and Weyl algebras.
By using the ideas of Feigin and Stoyanovsky and Calinescu, Lepowsky and Milas we introduce and study the principal subspaces associated with the Etingof-Kazhdan quantum affine vertex algebra of integer level $k\geqslant 1$ and type $A_1^{(1)}$. We show that the principal subspaces possess the quantum vertex algebra structure, which turns to the usual vertex algebra structure of the principal subspaces of generalized Verma and standard modules at the classical limit. Moreover, we find their topological quasi-particle bases which correspond to the sum sides of certain Rogers-Ramanujan-type iden…
We construct a family of exact functors from the BGG category of representations of the Lie algebra sl to the category of finite-dimensional representations of the degenerate (or graded) affine Hecke algebra H of GL. These functors transform Verma modules to standard modules or zero, and simple modules to simple modules or zero. Any simple H-module can be thus obtained.
We consider correlation functions for the Wess-Zumino-Witten model on the torus with the insertion of a Cartan element; mathematically this means that we consider the function of the form $F=\Tr (Φ_1 (z_1)\ldots Φ_n (z_n)q^{-\d}e^{h})$ where $Φ_i$ are intertwiners between Verma modules and evaluation modules over an affine Lie algebra $\ghat$, $\d$ is the grading operator in a Verma module and $h$ is in the Cartan subalgebra of $\g$. We derive a system of differential equations satisfied by such a function. In particular, the calculation of $q\frac{\d} {\d q} F$ yields a parabolic second order…
The rational quantized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation (qKZ equation) associated with the Lie algebra $sl_2$ is a system of linear difference equations with values in a tensor product of $sl_2$ Verma modules. We solve the equation in terms of multidimensional $q$-hypergeometric functions and define a natural isomorphism between the space of solutions and the tensor product of the corresponding quantum group $U_q(sl_2)$ Verma modules, where the parameter $q$ is related to the step $p$ of the qKZ equation via $q=e^{pi i/p}$. We construct asymptotic solutions associated with suitable asymptotic z…
In this paper we give some relationships among the Groebner-Shirshov bases in free associative algebras, free left modules and "double-free" left modules (free modules over a free algebra). We give the Chibrikov's Composition-Diamond lemma for modules and show that Kang-Lee's Composition-Diamond lemma follows from this lemma. As applications, we also deal with highest weight module over the Lie algebra $sl_2$, Verma module over a Kac-Moody algebra, Verma module over Lie algebra of coefficients of a free conformal algebra and the universal enveloping module for a Sabinin algebra.
We introduce and study a general concept of integral of a threetuple (H, A, C), where H is a Hopf algebra acting on a coalgebra C and coacting on an algebra A. In particular, quantum integrals associated to Yetter-Drinfel'd modules are defined. Let A be an H-bicomodule algebra, $^H {\cal YD}_A$ be the category of (generalized) Yetter-Drinfel'd modules and $B$ the subalgebra of coinvariants of the Verma structure of $A$. We introduce the concept of quantum Galois extensions and we prove the affineness criterion in a quantum version.
Let $M(\gl)$ be a Verma module for a basic classical simple Lie superalgebra $\fg \neq G(3)$ defined using the distinguished Borel subalgebra, and let $\gc$ be an isotropic positive root of $\fg.$ As a special case of our first main result we show that if $μ, \gl \in \fh^*$ with $\gl-μ= \gc$ we have $$\dim \Hom_{\sfg}(M(μ),M(\gl))\le 1.$$ This result applies to the construction of Šapovalov elements for isotropic roots. The proof rests on a comparison with the corresponding result for a certain simple Lie algebra $G$.
We introduce the notion of extended affine Lie superalgebras and investigate the properties of their root systems. Extended affine Lie algebras, invariant affine reflection algebras, finite dimensional basic classical simple Lie superalgebras and affine Lie superalgebras are examples of extended affine Lie superalgebras.
In this paper we construct weighted path models to compute Whittaker vectors in the completion of Verma modules, as well as Whittaker functions of fundamental type, for all finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras, affine Lie algebras, and the quantum algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1})$. This leads to series expressions for the Whittaker functions. We show how this construction leads directly to the quantum Toda equations satisfied by these functions, and to the $q$-difference equations in the quantum case. We investigate the critical limit of affine Whittaker functions computed in this way.
The trigonometric quantized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation (qKZ equation) associated with the quantum group $U_q(sl_2)$ is a system of linear difference equations with values in a tensor product of $U_q(sl_2)$ Verma modules. We solve the equation in terms of multidimensional $q$-hypergeometric functions and define a natural isomorphism between the space of solutions and the tensor product of the corresponding evaluation Verma modules over the elliptic quantum group $E_{ρ,γ}(sl_2)$, where parameters $ρ$ and $γ$ are related to the parameter $q$ of the quantum group $U_q(sl_2)$ and the step $p$ …
We study the copointed Hopf algebras attached to the Nichols algebra of the affine rack $\Aff(\F_4,ω)$, also known as tetrahedron rack, and the 2-cocycle -1. We investigate the so-called Verma modules and classify all the simple modules. We conclude that these algebras are of wild representation type and not quasitriangular, also we analyze when these are spherical.
We associate elliptic affine Lie algebras with what are called vertex $\C((z))$-algebras and their modules in a certain category. In the course, we construct two families of Lie algebras closely related to elliptic affine Lie algebras.
