Some simple examples from quantum physics and control theory are used to illustrate the application of the theory of Lie systems.
We will show, in particular, that for certain physical models both of the corresponding classical and quantum problems can be treated in a similar way, may be up to the replacement of the involved Lie group by a central extension of it.
The geometric techniques developed for dealing with Lie systems are also used in problems of control theory. Specifically, we will study some examples of control systems on Lie groups and homogeneous spaces.
Quantum mechanical systems with position dependent masses (PDM) admitting for and more dimensional symmetry algebras are classified. Namely, all PDM systems are specified which, in addition to their invariance w.r.t. a three parametric Lie group, admit at least one second order integral of motion. The presented classification is partially extended to the more generic systems which admit one or two parametric Lie groups.
In this paper, we show the relation between $sp(4,\mathbb{R})$, the Lie algebra of the symplectic group, and the elements of $Sp(4,\mathbb{R})$. We use this result to obtain some special cases of symplectic matrices relevant to the study of squeezed states. In this regard, we provide some applications in quantum mechanics and analyze the squeezed polymer states obtained from the polymer representation of the symplectic group. Remarkably, the polymer's dispersions are the same as those obtained for the squeezed states in the usual representation.
Quantum mechanical systems whose symmetry is given by $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded version of superconformal algebra are introduced. This is done by finding a realization of a $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded Lie superalgebra in terms of a standard Lie superalgebra and the Clifford algebra. The realization allows us to map many models of superconformal quantum mechanics (SCQM) to their $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded extensions. It is observed that for the simplest SCQM with $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ symmetry there exist two inequivalent $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded extensions. Applying the standard prescription of conforma…

Hartree--Fock theory in quantum mechanics is reviewed, from the proposal of the Hartree--Fock approximation right after quantum mechanics was formulated to its applications in modern physics. This includes the description of traditional Hartree--Fock theory in quantum chemistry, its generalizations of various kinds, and its importance for predicting the presence of symmetry breaking, or the absence thereof.

We propose a generalization of the momentum map on a symplectic manifold with a Lie algebra action to a Courant algebroid structure. The theory of a momentum section on a Lie algebroid is generalized to the theory compatible with a Courant algebroid. As an example, we identify the momentum section in a constrained Hamiltonian mechanics with Courant algebroid symmetry. Moreover, we construct cohomological formulations by considering the BFV and BV formalism of this Hamiltonian system. The Weil algebra for this structure is constructed.
We consider quantum mechanics on the noncommutative spaces characterized by the commutation relations $$ [x_a, x_b] \ =\ iθf_{abc} x_c\,, $$ where $f_{abc}$ are the structure constants of a Lie algebra. We note that this problem can be reformulated as an ordinary quantum problem in a commuting momentum space. The coordinates are then represented as linear differential operators $\hat x_a = -i\hat D_a = -iE_{ab} (p)\, \partial /\partial p_b $. Generically, the matrix $E_{ab}(p)$ represents a certain infinite series over the deformation parameter $θ$: $E_{ab} = δ_{ab} + \ldots$. The deformed Ham…
Guided by the symmetries of the Euler-Lagrange equations of motion, a study of the constrained dynamics of singular Lagrangians is presented. We find that these equations of motion admit a generalized Lie symmetry, and on the Lagrangian phase space the generators of this symmetry lie in the kernel of the Lagrangian two-form. Solutions of the energy equation\textemdash called second-order, Euler-Lagrange vector fields (SOELVFs)\textemdash with integral flows that have this symmetry are determined. Importantly, while second-order, Lagrangian vector fields are not such a solution, it is always po…
Lie-Semigroup Structures for Reachability and Control of Open Quantum Systems: Viewing Markovian Quantum Channels as Lie Semigroups and GKS-Lindblad Generators as Lie Wedge
In the recent paper, Bruce and Duplij introduced a double-graded version of supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SQM). It is an extension of Lie superalgebraic nature of ${\cal N}=1$ SQM to a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded superalgebra. In this work, we propose an extension of Bruce-Duplij model to higher values of $\cal N.$ Furthermore, it is shown that our construction of double-graded SQM is a special case of the method which converts a given Lie superalgebra to a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded superalgebra. By employing this method one may convert a model of superconformal mechanics to its double-graded ve…
I argue that Bohmian mechanics (or any similar pilot-wave theory) cannot reasonably be claimed to be a deterministic theory. If one assumes the "quantum equilibrium distribution" provided by the wave function of the universe, Bohmian mechanics requires an external random oracle in order to describe the (Kolmogorov-Levin-Chaitin) algorithmic randomness properties of typical outcome sequences of long runs of repeated identical experiments (which provably follow from the Born rule). This oracle lies beyond the scope of Bohmian mechanics (or any deterministic extension thereof), including the impo…
