We develop a general framework for constructing $2n$-site chiral integrable matrix product states in Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena spin chain, based on reflection equations and the fusion procedure. For four-site chiral integrable product states, we propose their exact overlap formulas with Bethe states. We also investigate the chiral integrable subspaces numerically.
One-point functions of local operators are studied, at weak and strong coupling, for the ABJM theory in the presence of a 1/2 BPS domain wall. In the underlying quantum spin chain the domain wall is represented by a boundary state which we show is integrable yielding a compact determinant formula for one-point functions of generic operators.
We compute the two-loop anomalous dimension matrix in the scalar sector of planar ${\cal N}=3$ flavored ABJM theory. Using coordinate Bethe ansatz, we obtain the reflection matrix and confirm that the boundary Yang-Baxter equations are satisfied. This establishes the integrability of this theory in the scalar sector at the two-loop order.
We study Yangian-invariant deformations of scattering amplitudes in 4d N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and 3d N=6 Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena (ABJM) theory. In particular, we obtain the deformed Grassmannian integral for 4d N=4 super Yang-Mills theory, both in momentum and momentum-twistor space. For 3d ABJM theory, we initiate the study of deformed scattering amplitudes. We investigate general deformations of on-shell diagrams, and find the deformed Grassmannian integral for this theory. We furthermore introduce the algebraic R-matrix construction of deformed Yangian invariants fo…
ABJM theory in the presence of a half-BPS domain wall is dual to the D2-D4 probe brane system with nonzero worldvolume flux. The ABJM domain wall was recently shown to be integrable to lowest order in perturbation theory and bond dimension. In the present paper we show that the string theory dual of this system is integrable, namely that the string boundary conditions on the probe D4-brane preserve the integrability of the Green-Schwarz sigma model. Our result suggests that the ABJM domain wall is integrable to all loop orders and for any value of the bond dimension.
We investigate BPS equations which determine the configuration of an M2-M5 bound state preserving half of the supersymmetries in the ABJM theory. We argue that the BPS equations are classically integrable, showing that they admit a Lax representation. The integrable structure of the BPS equations is closely related to that of the Nahm equations. Using this relation we formulate an efficient way of constructing solutions of the BPS equations from those of the Nahm equations. As an illustration of our method, we construct explicitly the most general solutions describing two M2-branes suspended b…
In this short note we begin the analysis of deformed integrable Chern-Simons theories. We construct the two loop dilatation operator for the scalar sector of the ABJM theory with $k1 \neq -k2$ and we compute the anomalous dimension of some operators.
It was known that one-point functions in the ABJM matrix model (obtained by applying the localization technique to one-point functions of the half-BPS Wilson loop operator in the ABJM theory) satisfy the Jacobi-Trudi formula, which strongly indicates the integrable structure of the system. In this paper, we identify the integrable structure of two-point functions in the ABJM matrix model as the two-dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy. The identification implies infinitely many non-linear differential equations for the generating function of the two-point functions.
In arXiv:1704.05807, it was shown that the planar flavored ABJM theory is integrable in the scalar sector at two-loop order using coordinate Bethe ansatz. A salient feature of this case is that the boundary reflection matrices are anti-diagonal with respect to the chosen basis. In this paper, we relax the coefficients of the boundary terms to be general constants in order to search for integrable systems among this class. We found that at each end of the spin chain, the only integrable boundary interaction, besides the one in arXiv:1704.05807, is the one with vanishing boundary interactions le…
We consider a special double scaling limit, recently introduced by two of the authors, combining weak coupling and large imaginary twist, for the $γ$-twisted $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory. We also establish the analogous limit for ABJM theory. The resulting non-gauge chiral 4D and 3D theories of interacting scalars and fermions are integrable in the planar limit. In spite of the breakdown of conformality by double-trace interactions, most of the correlators for local operators of these theories are conformal, with non-trivial anomalous dimensions defined by specific, integrable Feynman diagrams. …
We investigate the integrable aspects of the planar $γ$-deformed ABJM theory and propose the twisted asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations. A more general method through a twisted generating functional is discussed, based on which, the asymptotic large L solution of Y-system is modified in order to match the asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations. Several applications of our method were made in the $sl(2)$-like sector and some important examples in $β$-deformed ABJM are presented as well.
We develop an integrability-based framework to compute structure constants of two sub-determinant operators and a single-trace non-BPS operator in ABJM theory in the planar limit. In this first paper, we study them at weak coupling using a relation to an integrable spin chain. We first develop a nested Bethe ansatz for an alternating SU(4) spin chain that describes single-trace operators made out of scalar fields. We then apply it to the computation of the structure constants and show that they are given by overlaps between a Bethe eigenstate and a matrix product state. We conjecture that the …
The ABJM model is a superconformal Chern-Simons theory with N=6 supersymmetry which is believed to be integrable in the planar limit. However, there is a coupling dependent function that appears in the magnon dispersion relation and the asymptotic Bethe ansatz that is only known to leading order at strong and weak coupling. We compute this function to four loops in perturbation theory by an explicit Feynman diagram calculation for both the ABJM model and the ABJ extension. We find that all coefficients have maximal transcendentality. We then compute the four-loop wrapping correction for a scal…
Integrable structure has played a very important role in the study of various non-perturbative aspects of planar ABJM theories. In this paper we showed that this remarkable structure survive after orbifold operation with discrete group $Γ(\simeq\mathbb{Z}_n)<SU(4)_R\times U(1)_b$. For general $Γ$, we prove the integrability in the scalar sector at the planar two-loop order and get the Bethe ansatz equations. The eigenvalues of the anomalous dimension matrix are also obtained. For $Γ<SU(4)$, two-loop all-sector and all-loop BAEs are proposed. Supersymmetric orbifolds are discussed in this frame…
We propose a new dynamical reflection algebra, distinct from the previous dynamical boundary algebra and semi-dynamical reflection algebra. The associated Yang-Baxter equations, coactions, fusions, and commuting traces are derived. Explicit examples are given and quantum integrable Hamiltonians are constructed. They exhibit features similar to the Ruijsenaars-Schneider Hamiltonians.
Integrable systems underlying the Seiberg-Witten solutions for the N=2 SQCD with gauge groups SO(n) and Sp(n) are proposed. They are described by the inhomogeneous XXX spin chain with specific boundary conditions given by reflection matrices. We attribute reflection matrices to orientifold planes in the brane construction and briefly discuss its possible deformations.
We study two-dimensional integrable $N=1$ supersymmetric theories (without topological charges) in the presence of a boundary. We find a universal ratio between the reflection amplitudes for particles that are related by supersymmetry and we propose exact reflection matrices for the supersymmetric extensions of the multi-component Yang-Lee models and for the breather multiplets of the supersymmetric sine-Gordon theory. We point out the connection between our reflection matrices and the classical boundary actions for the supersymmetric sine-Gordon theory as constructed by Inami, Odake and Zhang…
We find new integrable boundary conditions, depending on a free parameter $g$, for the O(N) nonlinear $σ$ model, which are of nondiagonal type, that is, particles can change their ``flavor'' through scattering off the boundary. These boundary conditions are derived from a microscopic boundary lagrangian, which is used to establish their integrability, and exhibit integrable flows between diagonal boundary conditions investigated earlier. We solve the boundary Yang-Baxter equation, connect these solutions to the boundary conditions, and examine the corresponding integrable flows.
We calculate normalization factors and reflection amplitudes in the W-invariant conformal quantum field theories. Using these CFT data we derive vacuum expectation values of exponential fields in affine Toda theories and related perturbed conformal field theories. We apply these results to evaluate explicitly the expectation values of order parameters in the field theories associated with statistical systems, like XY, Z_n-Ising and Ashkin-Teller models. The same results are used for the calculation of the asymptotics of cylindrically symmetric solutions of the classical Toda equations which ap…
The definitions of the main notions related to the quantum inverse scattering methods are given. The Yang-Baxter equation and reflection equations are derived as consistency conditions for the factorizable scattering on the whole line and on the half-line using the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra. Due to the vertex-IRF model correspondence the face model analogue of the ZF-algebra and the IRF reflection equation are written down as well as the $Z_2$-graded and colored algebra forms of the YBE and RE.
The procedure for obtaining integrable vertex models via reflection matrices on the square lattice with open boundaries is reviewed and explicitly carried out for a number of two- and three-state vertex models. These models include the six-vertex model, the 15-vertex $A_2^{(1)}$ model and the 19-vertex models of Izergin-Korepin and Zamolodchikov-Fateev. In each case the eigenspectra is determined by application of either the algebraic or the analytic Bethe ansatz with inhomeogeneities. With suitable choices of reflection matrices, these vertex models can be associated with integrable loop mode…
Non-polynomial Baxterized solutions of reflection equations associated with affine Hecke and affine Birman-Murakami-Wenzl algebras are found. Relations to integrable spin chain models with nontrivial boundary conditions are discussed.
We study the reflection of magnons from a D5-brane in the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We consider two possible orientations of the D5-brane with respect to the reference vacuum state, namely vacuum states aligned along "vertical" and "horizontal" directions. We show that the reflections are of the achiral type. We also show that the reflection matrices satisfy the boundary Yang-Baxter equations for both orientations. In the horizontal case the reflection matrix can be interpreted in terms of a bulk S-matrix, S(p, -p), and factorizability of boundary scattering therefore follows fr…
We study the $O(n)$ loop model on the honeycomb lattice with open boundary conditions. Reflection matrices for the underlying Izergin-Korepin $R$-matrix lead to three inequivalent sets of integrable boundary weights. One set, which has previously been considered, gives rise to the ordinary surface transition. The other two sets correspond respectively to the special surface transition and the mixed ordinary-special transition. We analyse the Bethe ansatz equations derived for these integrable cases and obtain the surface energies together with the central charges and scaling dimensions charact…
The analysis of the transfer matrices associated to the most general representations of the 8-vertex reflection algebra on spin-1/2 chains is here implemented by introducing a quantum separation of variables (SOV) method which generalizes to these integrable quantum models the method first introduced by Sklyanin. More in detail, for the representations reproducing in their homogeneous limits the open XYZ spin-1/2 quantum chains with the most general integrable boundary conditions, we explicitly construct representations of the 8-vertex reflection algebras for which the transfer matrix spectral…
The reflection operators are the simplest examples of the non-local integrals of motion, which appear in many interesting problems in integrable CFT. For the so-called Fateev, quantum AKNS, paperclip and KdV integrable structures, they are built from the (chiral) reflection S-matrices for the Liouville and cigar CFTs. Here we give the full spectrum of the reflection operators associated with these integrable structures. We also obtained a relation between the reflection S-matrices of the cigar and Liouville CFTs. The results of this work are applicable for the description of the scaling behavi…
We use the Dunkl operator approach to construct one dimensional integrable models describing N particles with internal degrees of freedom. These models are described by a general Hamiltonian belonging to the center of the Yangian or the reflection algebra, which ensures that they admit the corresponding symmetry. In particular, the open problem of the symmetry is answered for the B_N-type Sutherland model with spin and a generalized B_N-type nonlinear Schrodinger Hamiltonian.
We establish that the Yang-Baxter equations in the presence of an impurity can in general only admit solutions of simultaneous tranmission and reflection when the transmission and reflection amplitudes commute in the defect degrees of freedom with an additional exchange of the corresponding rapidities. In the absence of defect degrees of freedom we show in complete generality, that the only exceptions to this are theories which possess rapidity independent bulk scattering matrices. In particular bulk theories with diagonal scattering matrices, can only be the free Boson and Fermion, the Federb…
We present an integrable Hamiltonian which describes the sinh-Gordon model on the half line coupled to a non-linear oscillator at the boundary. We explain how we apply Sklyanin's formalism to a dynamical reflection matrix to obtain this model. This method can be applied to couple other integrable field theories to dynamical systems at the boundary. We also show how to find the dynamical solution of the quantum reflection equation corresponding to our particular example.
We employ appropriate realizations of the affine Hecke algebra and we recover previously known non-diagonal solutions of the reflection equation for the $U_{q}(\hat{gl_n})$ case. With the help of linear intertwining relations involving the aforementioned solutions of the reflection equation, the symmetry of the open spin chain with a particular choice of the left boundary is exhibited. The symmetry of the corresponding local Hamiltonian is also explored.
We study the reflection amplitudes of affine Toda field theories with boundary, following the ideas developed by Fring and Koberle and focusing our attention on the $E_{n}$ series elements, because of their interesting structure of higher order poles. We also investigate the corresponding minimal reflection matrices, finding, with respect to the bulk case, a more complicated relation between the spectra of bound states associated to the minimal and to the ''dressed'' amplitudes.
We determine the exact quantum particle reflection amplitudes for all known vacua of a_n^(1) affine Toda theories on the half-line with integrable boundary conditions. (Real non-singular vacuum solutions are known for about half of all the classically integrable boundary conditions.) To be able to do this we use the fact that the particles can be identified with the analytically continued breather solutions, and that the real vacuum solutions are obtained by analytically continuing stationary soliton solutions. We thus obtain the particle reflection amplitudes from the corresponding breather r…
Quantum integrable models that possess $N=2$ supersymmetry are investigated on the half-space. Conformal perturbation theory is used to identify some $N=2$ supersymmetric boundary integrable models, and the effective boundary Landau-Ginzburg formulations are constructed. It is found that $N=2$ supersymmetry largely determines the boundary action in terms of the bulk, and in particular, the boundary bosonic potential is $|W|^2$, where $W$ is the bulk superpotential. Supersymmetry is also investigated using the affine quantum group symmetry of exact scattering matrices, and the affine quantum gr…
The purpose of this talk is to sketch some recent progress which has been made in calculating non-perturbatively the reflection factors for the sinh-Gordon model restricted to a half-line by integrable boundary conditions. The essential idea is to calculate the energy spectrum of boundary breathers in two independent ways; firstly by using the boundary bootstrap and secondly by quantizing the classical solutions corresponding to boundary breathers. Comparing these two calculations provides a way to determine the dependence of the reflection factors on the parameters introduced into the Lagrang…
This contribution to the Proceedings of the Workshop on Integrable Theories, Solitons and Duality in Sao Paulo in July 2002 summarizes results from the papers hep-th/0112023 and math.QA/0208043. We derive the non-local conserved charges in the sine-Gordon model and affine Toda field theories on the half-line. They generate new kinds of symmetry algebras that are coideals of the usual quantum groups. We show how intertwiners of tensor product representations of these algebras lead to solutions of the reflection equation. We describe how this method for finding solutions to the reflection equati…
Generic classically integrable boundary conditions for the $A_{n}^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theories (ATFT) are investigated. The present analysis rests primarily on the underlying algebra, defined by the classical version of the reflection equation. We use as a prototype example the first non-trivial model of the hierarchy i.e. the $A_2^{(1)}$ ATFT, however our results may be generalized for any $A_{n}^{(1)}$ ($n>1$). We assume here two distinct types of boundary conditions called some times soliton preserving (SP), and soliton non-preserving (SNP) associated to two distinct algebras, i.e. the…
We construct the most general perturbatively long-range integrable spin chain with spins transforming in the fundamental representation of gl(N) and open boundary conditions. In addition to the previously determined bulk moduli we find a new set of parameters determining the reflection phase shift. We also consider finite-size contributions and comment on their determination.
There are known to be integrable Sutherland models associated to every real root system -- or, which is almost equivalent, to every real reflection group. Real reflection groups are special cases of complex reflection groups. In this paper we associate certain integrable Sutherland models to the classical family of complex reflection groups. Internal degrees of freedom are introduced, defining dynamical spin chains, and the freezing limit taken to obtain static chains of Haldane-Shastry type. By considering the relation of these models to the usual BC_N case, we are led to systems with both re…
We explore the reflection-transmission quantum Yang-Baxter equations, arising in factorized scattering theory of integrable models with impurities. The physical origin of these equations is clarified and three general families of solutions are described in detail. Explicit representatives of each family are also displayed. These results allow to establish a direct relationship with the different previous works on the subject and make evident the advantages of the reflection-transmission algebra as an universal approach to integrable systems with impurities.
We derive and classify all solutions of the boundary Yang-Baxter equation (or the reflection equation) for the 19-vertex model associated with $U_q(\widehat{sl_2})$. Integrable $XXZ$ spin-1 chain hamiltonian with general boundary interactions is also obtained.
The general solutions of the reflection equation associated with Temperley-Lieb $R$-matrices are constructed. Their parametrization is defined and the Hamiltonians of corresponding integrable spin systems are given.
The supersymmetric sinh-Gordon model on a half-line with integrable boundary conditions is considered perturbatively to verify conjectured exact reflection factors to one loop order. Propagators for the boson and fermion fields restricted to a half-line contain several novel features and are developed as prerequisites for the calculations.
To the Yang-Baxter equation an additional relation can be added. This is the reflection equation which appears in various places, with or without spectral parameter. For example, in factorizable scattering on a half-line, integrable lattice models with non-periodic boundary conditions, non-commutative differential geometry on quantum groups, etc. We study two forms of spectral parameter independent reflection equations, chosen by the requirement that their solutions be comodules with respect to the quantum group coaction leaving invariant the reflection equations. For a variety of known soluti…
We study two-dimensional classically integrable field theory with independent boundary condition on each end, and obtain three possible generating functions for integrals of motion when this model is an ultralocal one. Classically integrable boundary condition can be found in solving boundary $K_{\pm}$ equations. In quantum case, we also find that unitarity condition of quantum $R$- matrix is sufficient to construct commutative quantities with boundary, and its reflection equations are obtained.
The $O(β^2)$ quantum correction to the classical reflection factor is calculated for one of the integrable boundary conditions of $a_2^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theory. This is found to agree with the conjectured exact reflection factor of the quantum theory. We consider the existence of other exact reflection factors consistent with our perturbative answer and examine the question of how duality transformations might relate theories with different boundary conditions.
We review the derivation of the Gaudin model with integrable boundaries. Starting from the non-symmetric R-matrix of the inhomogeneous spin-1/2 XXZ chain and generic solutions of the reflection equation and the dual reflection equation, the corresponding Gaudin Hamiltonians with boundary terms are calculated. An alternative derivation based on the so-called classical reflection equation is discussed.
In this paper we compute the scaling functions of the effective central charges for various quantum integrable models in a deep ultraviolet region $R\to 0$ using two independent methods. One is based on the ``reflection amplitudes'' of the (super-)Liouville field theory where the scaling functions are given by the conjugate momentum to the zero-modes. The conjugate momentum is quantized for the sinh-Gordon, the Bullough-Dodd, and the super sinh-Gordon models where the quantization conditions depend on the size $R$ of the system and the reflection amplitudes. The other method is to solve the st…
