We develop an integrability-based framework to compute structure constants of two sub-determinant operators and a single-trace non-BPS operator in ABJM theory in the planar limit. In this first paper, we study them at weak coupling using a relation to an integrable spin chain. We first develop a nested Bethe ansatz for an alternating SU(4) spin chain that describes single-trace operators made out of scalar fields. We then apply it to the computation of the structure constants and show that they are given by overlaps between a Bethe eigenstate and a matrix product state. We conjecture that the determinant operator corresponds to an integrable matrix product state and present a closed-form expression for the overlap, which resembles the so-called Gaudin determinant. We also provide evidence for the integrability of general sub-determinant operators. The techniques developed in this paper can be applied to other quantities in ABJM theory including three-point functions of single-trace operators.
In our previous work, the two-loop integrability of ABJM determinant like operator has been well established. In this paper, we push the integrability to all loop orders. The asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations for ABJM determinant like operator (open string attached on giant graviton) are obtained. In the derivation, the symmetries preserved by the bulk and the boundary played a crucial role. Taking the weak coupling limit and applying appropriate fermionic dualities, we obtained a different set of scalar sector Bethe equations with our previous results. When the "gauge" transformation on Bethe…
We investigate the integrable aspects of the planar $γ$-deformed ABJM theory and propose the twisted asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations. A more general method through a twisted generating functional is discussed, based on which, the asymptotic large L solution of Y-system is modified in order to match the asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations. Several applications of our method were made in the $sl(2)$-like sector and some important examples in $β$-deformed ABJM are presented as well.
We study the spectrum of anomalous dimensions of short operators in planar ABJM theory at two loops. Specifically we develop a method for solving the OSp(6|4) Bethe ansatz equations for a certain class of unpaired length-4 states with arbitrarily high number of excitations, and apply it to identify three new sequences of rational eigenvalues. Results for low-lying paired states in the OSp(4|2) sector are obtained by direct diagonalization of the spin chain Hamiltonian. We also study the SL(2|1) sector and identify the set of states that corresponds to the SL(2)-like Bethe ansatz of Gromov and …
We study the planar asymptotic dilatation operator of ABJM theory in the SU(2) x SU(2) sector up to eight loops. Combining Bethe Ansatz techniques and N = 2 superspace methods, we are able to fix all the coefficients appearing in the maximal-reshuffling terms. In particular, we can directly compute from Feynman diagrams the leading order coefficient of the dressing phase and find an agreement with the relation conjectured by Gromov and Vieira between the ABJM and N = 4 SYM phase factor.
A system of SU(N)-matrix difference equations is solved by means of a nested version of a generalized Bethe Ansatz, also called "off shell" Bethe Ansatz. The highest weight property of the solutions is proved. (Part I of a series of articles on the generalized nested Bethe Ansatz and difference equations.)
Integrable structure has played a very important role in the study of various non-perturbative aspects of planar ABJM theories. In this paper we showed that this remarkable structure survive after orbifold operation with discrete group $Γ(\simeq\mathbb{Z}_n)<SU(4)_R\times U(1)_b$. For general $Γ$, we prove the integrability in the scalar sector at the planar two-loop order and get the Bethe ansatz equations. The eigenvalues of the anomalous dimension matrix are also obtained. For $Γ<SU(4)$, two-loop all-sector and all-loop BAEs are proposed. Supersymmetric orbifolds are discussed in this frame…
We study the mixing problem of the determinant like operators in ABJM theory to two loop order in the scalar sector. The gravity duals of these operators are open strings attached to the maximal giant graviton, which is a D4-brane wrapping a $\mathbb{CP}^2$ inside $\mathbb{CP}^3$ in our case. The anomalous dimension matrix of these operators can be regarded as an open spin chain Hamiltonian. We provide strong evidence of its integrability based on coordinate Bethe ansatz method and boundary Yang-Baxter equation.
A system of U(N)-matrix difference equations is solved by means of a nested version of a generalized Bethe Ansatz. The highest weight property of the solutions is proved and some examples of solutions are calculated explicitly. (Part II of a series of articles on the generalized nested Bethe Ansatz and difference equations.)
We have applied the analytical Bethe ansatz approach in order to solve the $Osp(1|2n)$ invariant magnet. By using the Bethe ansatz equations we have calculated the ground state energy and the low-lying dispersion relation. The finite size properties indicate that the model has a central charge $c=n$.
We use the coordinate Bethe ansatz approach to derive the nested Bethe equations corresponding to the recently found S-matrix for strings in AdS5 x S5, compatible with centrally extended su(2|2) symmetry.
We reformulate the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz in terms of coproducts of Yangian symmetry generators. This allows us to derive the nested Bethe equations for the bound state string S-matrices. We find that they coincide with the Bethe equations obtained from a fusion procedure. The bound state number dependence in the Bethe equations appears through the parameters x^{\pm} and the dressing phase only.
The thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations that have been proposed to describe massive integrable deformations of the coset conformal field theories $g_k\times g_l/g_{k+l}$ are shown to result directly by applying the usual thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz arguments to the trigonometric $S$-matrices for the algebras $g=a_{m-1}$.
We prove an inversion identity for the open AdS/CFT SU(1|1) quantum spin chain which is exact for finite size. We use this identity, together with an analytic ansatz, to determine the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations. We also solve the closed chain by algebraic Bethe ansatz.
We solve the $A_{2n}^{(2)}$ vertex model with all kinds of diagonal reflecting matrices by using the algebraic Behe ansatz, which includes constructing the multi-particle states and achieving the eigenvalue of the transfer matrix and corresponding Bethe ansatz equations. When the model is $U_q(B_n)$ quantum invariant, our conclusion agrees with that obtained by analytic Bethe ansatz method.
We give a pedagogical introduction to the Bethe ansatz techniques in integrable QFTs and spin chains. We first discuss and motivate the general framework of asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the spectrum of integrable QFTs in large volume, based on the exact S-matrix. Then we illustrate this method in several concrete theories. The first case we study is the SU(2) chiral Gross-Neveu model. We derive the Bethe equations via algebraic Bethe ansatz, solving in the process the Heisenberg XXX spin chain. We discuss this famous spin chain model in some detail, covering in particular the coordinate Bethe a…
We derive an exact algebraic identity between the two-loop four-point amplitude in ABJM theory and the corresponding one-loop amplitude in N=4 SYM theory. This identity generalizes previous partial results to an exact relation valid at all orders in the IR regulator. Moreover, it allows to conjecture an exact iterative expression for the complete three dimensional amplitude in terms of the BDS ansatz for the four dimensional one, indicating that the strict relation between the two amplitudes experimented at two loops might propagate to all orders. In particular, an almost complete expression f…
We propose the exact S-matrix for the planar limit of the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory recently proposed by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis, and Maldacena for the AdS_4/CFT_3 correspondence. Assuming SU(2|2) symmetry, factorizability and certain crossing-unitarity relations, we find the S-matrix including the dressing phase. We use this S-matrix to formulate the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Our result for the Bethe-Yang equations and corresponding Bethe ansatz equations confirms the all-loop Bethe ansatz equations recently conjectured by Gromov and Vieira.
The finite volume problem of O(2N) sigma models with integrable diagonal boundaries on a finite interval is investigated. The double row transfer matrix is diagonalized by Algebraic Bethe Ansatz. The boundary Bethe Yang equations for the particle rapidities and the accompanying Bethe Ansatz equations are derived.
We prove that the wave vectors of the off-shell Bethe Ansatz equation for the inhomogeneous SU(2) lattice vertex model render in the quasiclassical limit the solution of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation.
The nineteen-vertex models of Zamolodchikov-Fateev, Izergin-Korepin and the supersymmetric osp(1|2) with periodic boundary conditions are studied. We find the spectrum of these quantum spin chains using the Coordinate Bethe Ansatz. The approche is a suitable parametrization of their wavefunctions. We also applied the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz in order to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the corresponding transfer matrices.
One-loop corrections to the energy of semiclassical rotating strings contain both analytic and non-analytic terms in the 't Hooft coupling. Analytic contributions agree with the prediction from the string Bethe ansatz based on the classical S-matrix, but in order to include non-analytic contributions quantum corrections are required. We find a general expression for the first quantum correction to the string Bethe ansatz.
We show that SU(n) Bethe Ansatz equations with arbitrary `twist' parameters are hidden inside certain nth order ordinary differential equations, and discuss various consequences of this fact.
We show that the quantum corrected string Bethe ansatz passes an important universality test by demonstrating that it correctly incorporates the non-analytical terms in the string sigma model one-loop correction for rational three-spin strings with two out of the three spins identical. Subsequently, we use the quantum corrected string Bethe ansatz to predict the exact form of the non-analytic terms for the generic rational three-spin string.
We generalise the fusion procedure for the $A_{\n-1}^{(1)}$ open spin chain ($\n>2$) and we show that the transfer matrix satisfies a crossing property. We use these results to solve the $A_{\n-1}^{(1)}$ open spin chain with $U_{q} (SU(\n))$ symmetry by means of the analytical Bethe ansatz method. Our results coincide with the known ones obtained by means of the nested Bethe ansatz.
The full set of polynomial solutions of the nested Bethe Ansatz is constructed for the case of A_2 rational spin chain. The structure and properties of these associated solutions are more various then in the case of usual XXX (A_1) spin chain but their role is similar.
We prove the integrability of the two-loop open spin chain Hamiltonian from ABJM determinant like operators given in arXiv:1809.09941. By explicitly constructing R-matrices and K-matrices, we successfully obtain the two-loop Hamiltonian from the double row transfer matrices. This proves the integrability of our two-loop Hamiltonian. Based on the vacuum eigenvalues of the transfer matrices, we make a conjecture on the eigenvalues of the transfer matrices for general excited states. Bethe ansatz equations are simply obtained from the analytic conditions at the superficial poles of the eigenvalue…
We obtain the Bethe Ansatz equations for the broken ${\bf Z}_{N}$-symmetric model by constructing a functional relation of the transfer matrix of $L$-operators. This model is an elliptic off-critical extension of the Fateev-Zamolodchikov model. We calculate the free energy of this model on the basis of the string hypothesis.
We introduce a ``pre-Bethe-Ansatz'' system of equations for three dimensional vertex models. We bring to the light various algebraic curves of high genus and discuss some situations where these curves simplify. As a result we describe remarkable subvarieties of the space of parameters.
We compare solutions of the quantum string Bethe equations with explicit one-loop calculations in the sigma-model on AdS(5)xS(5). The Bethe ansatz exactly reproduces the spectrum of infinitely long strings. When the length is finite, we find that deviations from the exact answer arise which are exponentially small in the string length.
We discuss the relation between the recently derived bound state S-matrices for the AdS5 x S5 superstring and Yangian symmetry. We will study the relation between this Yangian symmetry and the Bethe ansatz. In particular we can use it to derive the Bethe equations for bound states.
We construct the integral equations by taking the thermodynamic limit of both the all-loop gauge Bethe ansatz equation and the string Bethe ansatz equation for the highest states in the su(1|1) and su(2) sectors of the N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. Using the Fourier transformation we solve the integral equations iteratively to obtain the anomalous dimensions of the highest states in the weak coupling expansion. In the su(1|1) sector we analytically study the strong coupling limit of the anomalous dimension for the all-loop gauge Bethe ansatz equation by means of the Laplace transformation.
By using the intertwiner and face-vertex correpondence relation, we obtain the Bethe ansatz equation of eight vertex model with open boundary condtitions in the framework of algebraic Bethe ansatz method. The open boundary condition under consideration is the general solution of the reflection equation for eight vertex model with only one restriction on the free parameters of the right side reflecting boundary matrix. The reflecting boundary matrices used in this paper thus may have off-diagonal elements. Our construction can also be used for the Bethe ansatz of SOS model with reflection bound…
The aim of the chapter is to introduce in a pedagogical manner the concept of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz designed to calculate the energy levels of finite volume integrable systems and to review how it is applied in the planar AdS/CFT setting.
We investigate the discretized version of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation for a variety of 1+1 dimensional quantum field theories. By computing Lyapunov exponents we establish that many systems of this type exhibit chaotic behaviour, in the sense that their orbits through fixed points are extremely sensitive with regard to the initial conditions.
We propose a set of conventional Bethe Ansatz equations and a corresponding expression for the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix for the open spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms, provided that the boundary parameters obey a certain linear relation.
Eigenvalues of the commuting family of transfer matrices are expected to obey the $T$-system, a set of functional relation, proposed recently. Here we obtain the solution to the $T$-system for $C^{(1)}_2$ vertex models. They are compatible with the analytic Bethe ansatz and Yang-Baxterize the classical characters.
We present a multi-grid algorithm in order to solve numerically the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations. We specifically adapt the program to compute the data of the conformal field theory reached in the ultraviolet limit. Submitted to Computer Physics Communications
Moving from the mirror theory Bethe-Yang equations proposed by Arutyunov and Frolov, we derive the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations which should control the spectrum of the planar $\text{AdS}_5/\text{CFT}_4$ correspondence. The associated set of universal functional relations (Y-system) satisfied by the exponentials of the TBA pseudoenergies is deduced, confirming the structure inferred by Gromov, Kazakov and Vieira.
The Nested Bethe Ansatz is generalized to open and independent boundary conditions depending on two continuous and two discrete free parameters. This is used to find the exact eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the $A_{n-1}$ vertex models and $SU(n)$ spin chains with such boundary conditions. The solution is found for all diagonal families of solutions to the reflection equations in all possible combinations. The Bethe ansatz equations are used to find de first order finite size correction.
We consider the open spin-s XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms. By exploiting certain functional relations at roots of unity, we propose the Bethe ansatz solution for the transfer matrix eigenvalues for cases where atmost two of the boundary parameters are set to be arbitrary and the bulk anisotropy parameter has values η= i π/3, i π/5,... We present numerical evidence to demonstrate completeness of the Bethe ansatz solutions derived for s = 1/2 and s = 1.
We consider the Bethe Ansatz Equations for orbifolds of N =4 SYM w.r.t. an arbitrary discrete group. Techniques used for the Abelian orbifolds can be extended to the generic non-Abelian case with minor modifications. We show how to make a transition between the different notations in the quiver gauge theory.
We generalize the previously established connection between the off-shell Bethe ansatz equation for inhomogeneous SU(2) lattice vertex models in the quasiclassical limit and the solutions of the SU(2) Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations to the case of arbitrary simple Lie algebras.
We propose a new $q$-series formula for a character of parafermion conformal field theories associated to arbitrary non-twisted affine Lie algebra $\widehat{g}$. We show its natural origin from a thermodynamic Bethe ansatz analysis including chemical potentials.
We compute the exact S-matrix and give the Bethe ansatz solution for three sigma-models which arise as subsectors of string theory in AdS(5)xS(5): Landau-Lifshitz model (non-relativistic sigma-model on S(2)), Alday-Arutyunov-Frolov model (fermionic sigma-model with su(1|1) symmetry), and Faddeev-Reshetikhin model (string sigma-model on S(3)xR).
We find a closed formula for the overlap of Bethe eigenstates of an alternating $SU(4)$ spin chain, describing the scalar sector of ABJM theory, and matrix product states of any bond dimension representing 1/2 BPS co-dimension one domain walls in the field theory. One point functions of the defect CFTs involved, being directly expressible in terms of these overlaps, are hence completely determined.

We consider the integrable open XX quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms. We derive an exact inversion identity, using which we obtain the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix and the Bethe Ansatz equations. For generic values of the boundary parameters, the Bethe Ansatz solution is formulated in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions.
Four dimensional irreducible representations of the superalgebra gl(2,1) carry a free parameter. We compute the spectra of the corresponding transfer matrices by means of the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz together with a generalized fusion procedure.
We have considered the Zamolodchikov-Fateev and the Izergin-Korepin models with diagonal reflection boundaries. In each case the eigenspectrum of the transfer matrix is determined by application of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz.
We compute the spectrum and the eigenstates of the open XXX model with non-diagonal (triangular) boundary matrices. Since the boundary matrices are not diagonal, the usual coordinate Bethe ansatz does not work anymore, and we use a generalization of it to solve the problem.
In this paper, the algebraic Bethe ansatz with periodic boundary conditions is used to investigate trigonometric vertex models associated with the fundamental representations of the non-exceptional Lie algebras. This formulation allow us to present explicit expressions for the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the respective transfer matrices.
We investigate form factors of local operators in the multi-component Quantum Non-linear Schrödinger model, a prototype theory solvable by the so-called nested Bethe Ansatz. We determine the analytic properties of the infinite volume form factors using the coordinate Bethe Ansatz solution and we establish a connection with the finite volume matrix elements. In the two-component models we derive a set of recursion relations for the "magnonic form factors", which are the matrix elements on the nested Bethe Ansatz states. In certain simple cases (involving states with only one spin-impurity) we o…
We describe an integrable model, related to the Gaudin magnet, and its relation to the matrix model of Brezin, Itzykson, Parisi and Zuber. Relation is based on Bethe ansatz for the integrable model and its interpretation using orthogonal polynomials and saddle point approximation. Lagre $N$ limit of the matrix model corresponds to the thermodynamic limit of the integrable system. In this limit (functional) Bethe ansatz is the same as the generating function for correlators of the matrix models.
We use the functional representation of Heisenberg-Weyl group and obtain equation for the spectrum of the model, which is more complicated than Bethes ones, but can be written explicitly through theta functions.
The semi-classical limit of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz method is used to solve the theory of Gaudin models. Via the off-shell method we find the spectra and eigenvectors of the N-1 independent Gaudin Hamiltonians with symmetry osp(2|1). We also show how the off-shell Gaudin equation solves the trigonometric Knizhnik- Zamolodchikov equation.
We consider the (A_n,A_1) Y-system arising in the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz. We prove the periodicity of solutions of this Y-system conjectured by Al.B. Zamolodchikov, and the dilogarithm identities conjectured by F. Gliozzi and R. Tateo.
The double row transfer matrix of the open O(N) spin chain is diagonalized and the Bethe Ansatz equations are also derived by the algebraic Bethe Ansatz method including the so far missing case when the residual symmetry is O(2M+1)$\times$O(2N-2M-1). In this case the boundary breaks the "rank" of the O(2N) symmetry leading to nonstandard Bethe Ansatz equations in which the number of Bethe roots is less than as it was in the periodic case. Therefore these cases are similar to soliton-nonpreserving reflections.
