We consider the $N\times N$ Hermitian matrix model with measure $dμ_{E,λ}(M)=\frac{1}{Z} \exp(-\frac{λN}{4} \mathrm{tr}(M^4)) dμ_{E,0}(M)$, where $dμ_{E,0}$ is the Gaussian measure with covariance $\langle M_{kl}M_{mn}\rangle=\frac{δ_{kn}δ_{lm}}{N(E_k+E_l)}$ for given $E_1,...,E_N>0$. It was previously understood that this setting gives rise to two ramified coverings $x,y$ of the Riemann sphere strongly tied by $y(z)=-x(-z)$ and a family $ω^{(g)}_{n}$ of meromorphic differentials conjectured to obey blobbed topological recursion due to Borot and Shadrin. We develop a new approach to this problem via a system of six meromorphic functions which satisfy extended loop equations. Two of these functions are symmetric in the preimages of $x$ and can be determined from their consistency relations. An expansion at $\infty$ gives global linear and quadratic loop equations for the $ω^{(g)}_{n}$. These global equations provide the $ω^{(g)}_{n}$ not only in the vicinity of the ramification points of $x$ but also in the vicinity of all other poles located at opposite diagonals $z_i+z_j=0$ and at $z_i=0$. We deduce a recursion kernel representation valid at least for $g\leq 1$.

In this paper, we discuss the properties of the generating functions of spin Hurwitz numbers. In particular, for spin Hurwitz numbers with arbitrary ramification profiles, we construct the weighed sums which are given by Orlov's hypergeometric solutions of the 2-component BKP hierarchy. We derive the closed algebraic formulas for the correlation functions associated with these tau-functions, and under reasonable analytical assumptions we prove the loop equations (the blobbed topological recursion). Finally, we prove a version of topological recursion for the spin Hurwitz numbers with the spin …
Tensor models are generalizations of matrix models and as such, it is a natural question to ask whether they satisfy some form of the topological recursion. The world of unitary-invariant observables is however much richer in tensor models than in matrix models. It is therefore a priori unclear which set of observables could satisfy the topological recursion. Such a set of observables was identified a few years ago in the context of the quartic melonic model by the first author and Dartois. It was shown to satisfy an extension of the topological recursion introduced by Borot and called the blo…
In this paper we continue the perturbative analysis of the quartic Kontsevich model. We investigate meromorphic functions $Ω^{(0)}_m$ with $m=1,2$, that obey blobbed topological recursion. We calculate their expansions and check their equivalence to sums of ribbon graph weights, which are obtained with common methods of perturbation theory in QFT, up to fifth order in the coupling using Mathematica. Furthermore, we provide a catalog of permutation pairs $(α,σ)$, which encode all 5660 vacuum ribbon graphs that contribute to the free energy $\mathcal{F}^{(g)}$ with genus $g\geq 0$ up to fifth or…
We prove a formula for the genus one free energy $\mathcal{F}^{(1)}$ of the quartic Kontsevich model for arbitrary ramification by working out a boundary creation operator for blobbed topological recursion. We thus investigate the differences in $\mathcal{F}^{(1)}$ compared with its generic representation for ordinary topological recursion. In particular, we clarify the role of the Bergman $τ$-function in blobbed topological recursion. As a by-product, we show that considering the holomorphic additions contributing to $ω_{g,1}$ or not gives a distinction between the enumeration of bipartite an…
We consider an analogue of Kontsevich's matrix Airy function where the cubic potential $\mathrm{Tr}(Φ^3)$ is replaced by a quartic term $\mathrm{Tr}(Φ^4)$. Cumulants of the resulting measure are known to decompose into cycle types for which a recursive system of equations can be established. We develop a new, purely algebraic geometrical solution strategy for the two initial equations of the recursion, based on properties of Cauchy matrices. These structures led in subsequent work to the discovery that the quartic analogue of the Kontsevich model obeys blobbed topological recursion.
We derive a recursion relation for loop-level scattering amplitudes of Lagrangian field theories that generalises the tree-level Berends-Giele recursion relation in Yang-Mills theory. The origin of this recursion relation is the homological perturbation lemma, which allows us to compute scattering amplitudes from minimal models of quantum homotopy algebras in a recursive way. As an application of our techniques, we give an alternative proof of the relation between non-planar and planar colour-stripped scattering amplitudes.
We show that non-stationary Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^1$ can be extracted from open periods of the Eynard-Orantin topological recursion correlators $ω_{g,n}$ whose Laurent series expansion at $\infty$ compute the stationary invariants. To do so, we overcome the technical difficulties to global loop equations for the spectral $x(z) = z + 1/z$ and $y(z) = \ln z$ from the local loop equations satisfied by the $ω_{g,n}$, and check these global loop equations are equivalent to the Virasoro constraints that are known to govern the full Gromov-Witten theory of $\mathbb{P}^1$.
The main objects under consideration in this thesis are called maps, a certain class of graphs embedded on surfaces. Our problems have a powerful relatively recent tool in common, the so-called topological recursion (TR) introduced by Chekhov, Eynard and Orantin. We call a map fully simple if it has non self-intersecting disjoint boundaries, and ordinary if such a restriction is not imposed. We study the combinatorial relation between fully simple and ordinary maps with the topology of a disk or a cylinder, which reproduces relations between moments and free cumulants established in the contex…
We introduce the notion of $\mathcal{N}=1$ abstract super loop equations, and provide two equivalent ways of solving them. The first approach is a recursive formalism that can be thought of as a supersymmetric generalization of the Eynard-Orantin topological recursion, based on the geometry of a local super spectral curve. The second approach is based on the framework of super Airy structures. The resulting recursive formalism can be applied to compute correlation functions for a variety of examples related to 2d supergarvity.
We investigate supereigenvalue models in the Ramond sector and their recursive structure. We prove that the free energy truncates at quadratic order in Grassmann coupling constants, and consider super loop equations of the models with the assumption that the 1/N expansion makes sense. Subject to this assumption, we obtain the associated genus-zero algebraic curve with two ramification points (one regular and the other irregular) and also the supersymmetric partner polynomial equation. Starting with these polynomial equations, we present a recursive formalism that computes all the correlation f…
The KP and 2D Toda tau-functions of hypergeometric type that serve as generating functions for weighted single and double Hurwitz numbers are related to the topological recursion programme. A graphical representation of such weighted Hurwitz numbers is given in terms of weighted constellations. The associated classical and quantum spectral spectral curves are derived, and these are interpreted combinatorially in terms of the graphical model. The pair correlators are given a finite Christoffel-Darboux representation and determinantal expressions are obtained for the multipair correlators. The g…

We give an overview of the recursive characterisations of random matrix ensembles that are currently at the forefront of random matrix theory by way of studying two classes of ensembles using two different types of recursive schemes: Established theory on Selberg correlation integrals is used to derive linear differential equations on the eigenvalue densities and resolvents of the classical matrix ensembles, which lead to $1$-point recursions, understood to be analogues of the Harer-Zagier recursion, for the expansion coefficients of the associated $1$-point cumulants, while loop equation anal…
