We prove dispersive estimate for the elastic wave equation by which we extend the known Strichartz estimates for the classical wave equation to those for the elastic wave equation. In particular, the endpoint Strichartz estimates are deduced. For the purpose we diagonalize the symbols of the Lamé operator and its semigroup, which also gives an alternative and simpler proofs of the previous results on perturbed elastic wave equations. Furthermore, we obtain uniform Sobolev inequalities for the elastic wave operator.
We calculate the the sharp constant and characterise the extremal initial data in $\dot{H}^{\frac{3}{4}}\times\dot{H}^{-\frac{1}{4}}$ for the $L^4$ Sobolev--Strichartz estimate for the wave equation in four space dimensions.
Some analogues of the Schrödinger refined Strichartz inequalities (Du, Guth, Li and Zhang) are obtained for the wave equation. These are used to improve the best known $L^2$ fractal Strichartz inequalities for the wave equation in dimensions $d \geq 4$.
In this paper, we first show that there exists a maximizer for the non-endpoint Strichartz inequalities for the Schrödinger equation in all dimensions based on the recent linear profile decomposition results. We then present a new proof of the linear profile decomposition for the Schröindger equation with initial data in the homogeneous Sobolev space; as a consequence, there exists a maximizer for the Sobolev-Strichartz inequality.
We prove the existence of maximizers of Sobolev-Strichartz estimates for a general class of propagators, involving relevant examples, as for instance the wave, Dirac and the hyperbolic Schrodinger flows.
We prove dispersive and Strichartz inequalities for the solution of the wave equation related to the full Laplacian on the Heisenberg group, by means of Besov spaces defined by a Littlewood--Paley decomposition related to the spectral resolution of the full Laplacian. This requires a careful analysis due also to the non-homogeneous nature of the full Laplacian. This result has to be compared to a previous one by Bahouri, Gérard and Xu concerning the solution of the wave equation related to the Kohn-Laplacian.
A necessary and sufficient condition on the precompactness of extremal sequences for one dimensional $α$-Strichartz inequalities, equivalently $α$-Fourier extension estimates, is established based on the profile decomposition arguments. One of our main tools is an operator-convergence dislocation property consequence which comes from the van der Corput Lemma. Our result is valid in asymmetric cases as well. In addition, we obtain the existence of extremals for non-endpoint $α$-Strichartz inequalities.
We provide a general method to decompose any bounded sequence in $\dot H^s$ into linear dispersive profiles generated by an abstract propagator, with a rest which is small in the associated Strichartz norms. The argument is quite different from the one proposed by Bahouri-Gérard and Keraani in the cases of the wave and Schrödinger equations, and is adaptable to a large class of propagators, including those which are matrix-valued.
In this paper, we investigate a stochastic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. Due to the stochastic nature of the inequality, the relation between the exponents of intgrability is modified. This modification can be understood as a regularization by noise phenomenon. As a direct application, we derive Strichartz estimates for the white noise dispersion which enables us to address a conjecture from [3].
We obtain Strichartz inequalities for the wave equation with potentials which behave like the inverse square potential $|x|^{-2}$ but might be not a radially symmetric function.
For $ξ= (ξ_1, ξ_2, \ldots, ξ_d) \in \mathbb{R}^d$ let $Q(ξ) := \sum_{j=1}^d σ_j ξ_j^2$ be a quadratic form with signs $σ_j \in \{\pm1\}$ not all equal. Let $S \subset \mathbb{R}^{d+1}$ be the hyperbolic paraboloid given by $S = \big\{(ξ, τ) \in \mathbb{R}^{d}\times \mathbb{R} \ : \ τ= Q(ξ)\big\}$. In this note we prove that Gaussians never extremize an $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d) \to L^{q}(\mathbb{R}^{d+1})$ Fourier extension inequality associated to this surface.
Let $u:\R \times \R^n \to \C$ be the solution of the linear Schrödinger equation $iu_t + Δu =0$ with initial data $u(0,x) = f(x)$. In the first part of this paper we obtain a sharp inequality for the Strichartz norm $\|u(t,x)\|_{L^{2k}_tL^{2k}_x(\R \times\R^n)}$, where $k\in \Z$, $k \geq 2$ and $(n,k) \neq (1,2)$, that admits only Gaussian maximizers. As corollaries we obtain sharp forms of the classical Strichartz inequalities in low dimensions (works of Foschi and Hundertmark - Zharnitsky) and also sharp forms of some Sobolev-Strichartz inequalities. In the second part of the paper we expres…
In this paper, we prove the dispersive estimates and Strichartz inequalities for the solution of the Schrödinger equation related to the full Laplacian on H-type groups. This extends the results obtained by G. Furioli and A. Veneruso [Studia Math., 2004, 160: 157-178] on the Heisenberg group.
We prove wellposedness of the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation for any defocusing power nonlinearity on a domain of the plane with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The main argument is based on a generalized Strichartz inequality on manifolds with Lipschitz metric.
In this paper we study Strichartz estimates for dispersive equations which are defined by radially symmetric pseudo-differential operators, and of which initial data belongs to spaces of Sobolev type defined in spherical coordinates. We obtain the space time estimates on the best possible range including the endpoint cases.
We study the existence of maximizers for a one-parameter family of Strichartz inequalities on the torus. In general maximizing sequences can fail to be precompact in $L^2(\mathbb T)$, and maximizers can fail to exist. We provide a sufficient condition for precompactness of maximizing sequences (after translation in Fourier space), and verify the existence of maximizers for a range of values of the parameter. Maximizers for the Strichartz inequalities correspond to stable, periodic (in space and time) solutions of a model equation for optical pulses in a dispersion-managed fiber.
We investigate a class of sharp Fourier extension inequalities on the planar curves $s=|y|^p$, $p>1$. We identify the mechanism responsible for the possible loss of compactness of nonnegative extremizing sequences, and prove that extremizers exist if $1<p<p_0$, for some $p_0>4$. In particular, this resolves the dichotomy of Jiang, Pausader & Shao concerning the existence of extremizers for the Strichartz inequality for the fourth order Schrödinger equation in one spatial dimension. One of our tools is a geometric comparison principle for $n$-fold convolutions of certain singular measures in $\…
In each dimension n >= 2, we construct a class of nonnegative potentials that are homogeneous of order -sigma, chosen from the range 0 < sigma < 2, and for which the perturbed Schrodinger equation does not satisfy global in time Strichartz estimates.
This work is devoted to prove a linear profile decomposition for the Airy equation in $\dot{H}_x^{s_k}(\mathbb{R})$, where $s_k=(k-4)/2k$ and $k>4$. We also apply this decomposition to establish the existence of maximizers for a general class of Strichartz type inequalities associated to the Airy equation.
We prove scale-invariant Strichartz inequalities for the Schrodinger equation on rectangular tori (rational or irrational) in all dimensions. We use these estimates to give a unified and simpler treatment of local well-posedness of the energy-critical nonlinear Schrodinger equation in dimensions three and four.
This paper is concerned with derivation of the global or local in time Strichartz estimates for radially symmetric solutions of the free wave equation from some Morawetz-type estimates via weighted Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) inequalities. In the same way we also derive the weighted end-point Strichartz estimates with gain of derivatives for radially symmetric solutions of the free Schroedinger equation. The proof of the weighted HLS inequality for radially symmetric functions involves an application of the weighted inequality due to Stein and Weiss and the Hardy-Littlewood maximal inequali…
We prove the existence of maximizers for Strichartz inequalities for the wave equation in dimensions $d\geq 3$. Our approach follows the scheme given by Shao, which obtains the existence of maximizers in the context of the Schrödinger equation. The main tool that we use is the linear profile decomposition for the wave equation which we prove in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 3$, extending the profile decomposition result of Bahouri and Gerard, previously obtained in $\mathbb{R}^3$.
In this paper we generalize the classical Strichartz estimation for solutions of initial problem for linear parabolic and Schrödinger PDE on many popular classes {\it pairs} of rearrangement invariant(r.i.) spaces and construct some examples in order to show the exactness of our estimations.
In this article we study the Schrödinger equation associated with Harmonic oscillator in the form of Strichartz type inequality. We give simple proofs for Strichartz type inequalities using purely the $L^2 \to L^p$ operator norm estimates of the spectral projections associated harmonic oscillator proved in \cite{KT}. Our Strichartz type estimates are sharp in sense of regularity of initial data.
We obtain Strichartz estimates for the fractional heat equations by using both the abstract Strichartz estimates of Keel-Tao and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. We also prove an endpoint homogeneous Strichartz estimate via replacing $ L^{\infty}_{x}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ by $BMO_{x}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ and a parabolic homogeneous Strichartz estimate. Meanwhile, we generalize the Strichartz estimates by replacing the Lebesgue spaces with either Besov spaces or Sobolev spaces. Moreover, we establish the Strichartz estimates for the fractional heat equations with a time dependent potential of an…
We generalize the theorems of Stein--Tomas and Strichartz about surface restrictions of Fourier transforms to systems of orthonormal functions with an optimal dependence on the number of functions. We deduce the corresponding Strichartz bounds for solutions to Schrödinger equations up to the endpoint, thereby solving an open problem of Frank, Lewin, Lieb and Seiringer. We also prove uniform Sobolev estimates in Schatten spaces, extending the results of Kenig, Ruiz, and Sogge. We finally provide applications of these results to a Limiting Absorption Principle in Schatten spaces, to the well-pos…
Water waves are well-known to be dispersive at the linearization level. Considering the fully nonlinear systems, we prove for reasonably smooth solutions the optimal Strichartz estimates for pure gravity waves and the semi-classical Strichartz estimates for gravity-capillary waves; for both 2D and 3D waves. Here, by optimal we mean the gains of regularity (over the Sobolev embedding from Sobolev spaces to Hölder spaces) obtained for the linearized systems. Our proofs combine the paradifferential reductions of Alazard-Burq-Zuily with a dispersive estimate using a localized wave package type par…
We show a family of virial-type identities for the Schrödinger and wave equations with electromagnetic potentials. As a consequence, some weak dispersive inequalities in space dimension $n\geq3$, involving Morawetz and smoothing estimates, are proved; finally, we apply them to prove Strichartz inequalities for the wave equation with a non-trapping electromagnetic potential with almost Coulomb decay.
We prove Strichartz inequalities for the wave and Schrödinger equations on noncompact surfaces with ends of finite area, i.e. with ends isometric to $ \big( (r_0,\infty) \times {\mathbb S}^1 , dr^2 + e^{- 2 ϕ(r)}d θ^2 \big) $ with $ e^{-ϕ} $ integrable. We prove first that all Strichartz estimates, with any derivative loss, fail to be true in such ends. We next show for the wave equation that, by projecting off the zero mode of $ {\mathbb S}^1 $, we recover the same inequalities as on $ {\mathbb R}^2 $. On the other hand, for the Schrödinger equation, we prove that even by projecting off the z…
We prove Strichartz estimates on general flat d-torus for arbitrary d. Using these estimates, we prove local wellposedness for the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in appropriate Sobolev spaces. In dimensions 2 and 3, we prove polynomial bounds on the possible growth of Sobolev norms of smooth solutions.
We prove global Strichartz inequalities for the Schrödinger equation on a large class of asymptotically conical manifolds. Letting $ P $ be the nonnegative Laplace operator and $ f_0 \in C_0^{\infty}({\mathbb R}) $ be a smooth cutoff equal to $1$ near zero, we show first that the low frequency part of any solution $ e^{-itP} u_0 $, i.e. $ f_0 (P) e^{-itP} u_0 $, enjoys the same global Strichartz estimates as on $ {\mathbb R}^n $ in dimension $ n \geq 3 $. We also show that the high energy part $ (1-f_0)(P) e^{-itP} u_0$ also satisfies global Strichartz estimates without loss of derivatives out…
Using the div-curl inequalities of Bourgain-Brezis [?MR2057026] and van Schaftingen [?MR2078071], we prove an improved Strichartz estimate for systems of inhomogeneous wave and Schrodinger equations, for which the inhomogeneity is a divergence-free vector field at each given time. The novelty of the result is that one can allow $L^1_x$ norms of the inhomogeneity in the right hand side of the estimate.

In this note we consider the adjoint restriction estimate for hypersurface under additional regularity assumption. We obtain the optimal $H^s$-$L^q$ estimate and its mixed norm generalization. As applications we prove some weighted Strichartz estimates for the propagator $e^{it(-Δ)^{α/2}}φ$, $α>0$.
We disprove a conjecture of Foschi, regarding extremizers for the Strichartz inequality with data in the Sobolev space $\dot{H}^{1/2}\times\dot{H}^{-1/2}(\mathbb R^d)$, for even $d\ge 2$. On the other hand, we provide evidence to support the conjecture in odd dimensions, and refine his sharp inequality in $\mathbb R^{1+3}$, adding a term proportional to the distance of the initial data from the set of extremizers. The proofs use the conformal compactification of the Minkowski space-time given by the Penrose transform.
We generalize the Stein-Tomas [17] $L^2$-restricition theorem and the uniform Sobolev estimates of Kenig, Ruiz and the second author [11] by allowing critically singular potential. We also obtain Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger and wave operators with such potentials. Due to the fact that there may be nontrivial eigenfunctions we are required to make certain spectral assumptions, such as assuming that the solutions only involve sufficiently large frequencies.
The objective of this paper is to report on recent progress on Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation and to present the state-of-the-art. These estimates have been obtained in Lebesgue spaces, Sobolev spaces and, recently, in Wiener amalgam and modulation spaces. We present and compare the different technicalities. Then, we illustrate applications to well-posedness.
We give several remarks on Strichartz estimates for homogeneous wave equation with special attention to the cases of $L^\infty_x$ estimates, radial solutions and initial data from the inhomogeneous Sobolev spaces. In particular, we give the failure of the endpoint estimate $L^4_t L^\infty_x$ for $n=2$.
We establish both sufficient and necessary conditions for the validity of the so-called Hardy-Sobolev inequalities on open sets of the Euclidean space. These inequalities form a natural interpolating scale between the (weighted) Sobolev inequalities and the (weighted) Hardy inequalities. The Assouad dimension of the complement of the open set turns out to play an important role in both sufficient and necessary conditions.
The existence of extremal functions for the Sobolev trace inequalities is studied using the concentration compactness theorem. The conjectured extremal, the function of conformal factor, is considered and is proved to be an actual extremal function with extra symmetry condition on functions. One of the limiting cases of the Sobolev trace inequalities is investigated and the best constant for this case is computed.
Let $0<σ<n/2$ and $H=(-Δ)^σ+V(x)$ be Schrödinger type operators on $\mathbb R^n$ with a class of scaling-critical potentials $V(x)$, which include the Hardy potential $a|x|^{-2σ}$ with a sharp coupling constant $a\ge -C_{σ,n}$ ($C_{σ,n}$ is the best constant of Hardy's inequality of order $σ$). In the present paper we consider several sharp global estimates for the resolvent and the solution to the time-dependent Schrödinger equation associated with $H$. In the case of the subcritical coupling constant $a>-C_{σ,n}$, we first prove {\it uniform resolvent estimates} of Kato--Yajima type for all …
The notions of higher-order weighted multilinear Poincaré and Sobolev inequalities in Carnot groups are introduced. As an application, weighted Leibnitz-type rules in Campanato-Morrey spaces are established.
We study the dispersive properties of the linear vibrating plate (LVP) equation. Splitting it into two Schrödinger-type equations we show its close relation with the Schrödinger equation. Then, the homogeneous Sobolev spaces appear to be the natural setting to show Strichartz-type estimates for the LVP equation. By showing a Kato-Ponce inequality for homogeneous Sobolev spaces we prove the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the LVP equation with time-dependent potentials. Finally, we exhibit the sharpness of our results. This is achieved by finding a suitable solution for the stationary …
In this paper we derive time-decay and Strichartz estimates for the generalized Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation on the framework of modulation spaces $M^s_{p,q}.$ We use this results to analyze the existence of local and global solutions of the corresponding Cauchy problem with rough data in modulation spaces. The results improve known results in Sobolev spaces in some sense.
This paper is devoted to the proof of a well-posedness result for the gravity water waves equations, in arbitrary dimension and in fluid domains with general bottoms, when the initial velocity field is not necessarily Lipschitz. Moreover, for two-dimensional waves, we can consider solutions such that the curvature of the initial free surface does not belong to $L^2$. The proof is entirely based on the Eulerian formulation of the water waves equations, using microlocal analysis to obtain sharp Sobolev and Hölder estimates. We first prove tame estimates in Sobolev spaces depending linearly on Hö…
We consider the energy critical nonlinear Schrodinger equation on generic irrational tori. Using the long-time Strichartz estimates proved in [8], we establish polynomial upper bounds for higher Sobolev norms for solutions with small energy.
We provide a comprehensive analysis of sharp bilinear estimates of Ozawa-Tsutsumi type for solutions u of the free Schrödinger equation, which give sharp control on $|u|^2$ in classical Sobolev spaces. In particular, we provide a generalization of their estimates in such a way that provides a unification with some sharp bilinear estimates proved by Carneiro and Planchon-Vega, via entirely different methods, by seeing them all as special cases of a one parameter family of sharp estimates. We show that the extremal functions are solutions of the Maxwell-Boltzmann functional equation and provide …
This paper presents Strichartz estimates for the linearized 1D periodic Dysthe equation on the torus, namely estimate of the $L^6_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm of the solution in terms of the initial data, and estimate of the $L^4_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm in terms of the Bourgain space norm. The paper also presents other results such as bilinear and trilinear estimates pertaining to local well-posedness of the 1-dimensional periodic Dysthe equation in a suitable Bourgain space, and ill-posedness results in Sobolev spaces.
We prove Strichartz estimates for the absolutely continuous evolution of a Schrödinger operator $H = (i\nabla + A)^2 + V$ in $\R^n$, $n > 2$. Both the magnetic and electric potentials are time-independent and satisfy pointwise polynomial decay bounds. The vector potential $A(x)$ is assumed to be continuous but need not possess any Sobolev regularity. This work is a refinement of previous methods, which required extra conditions on ${\rm div} A$ or $|\nabla|^{\frac12}A$ in order to place the first order part of the perturbation within a suitable class of pseudo-differential operators.
The continouity and compactness of embedding operators in in Sobolev-Lions type spaces are derived. By applying this result separability properties of degenerate anisotropic differential operator equations, well-posedeness and Strichartz type estimates for solution of corresponding parabolic problem are established
