In this paper we characterize hypercyclic translation operators on the space of all compact linear operators on a Hilbert space H. Also, we give some sufficient condition for a related cosine operator function to be chaotic or topologically transitive
We study the Spectral Analysis for a class of bounded linear operators T = D + F in a non Archimedean Hilbert space E, where D is a diagonal linear operator and where F is a finite rank linear operator. In this study of the Spectral Analysis, we use extensively the Theory of Fredholm Operators to deduce some of our main results.
The theory of $τ$-summing and $σ$-nuclear linear operators on Banach spaces was developed by Pietsch [12, Chapter 23]. Extending the linear case to the range p > 1 and generalizing all cases to the multilinear setting, in this paper we introduce the concept of $σ(p)$-nuclear linear and multilinear operators. In order to develop the duality theory for the spaces of such operators, we introduce the concept of quasi-tau(p)-summing linear/multilinear operators and prove Pietsch-type domination theorems for such operators. The main result of the paper shows that, under usual conditions, linear func…
It is well known that not every summability property for non linear operators leads to a factorization theorem. In this paper we undertake a detailed study of factorization schemes for summing linear and nonlinear operators. Our aim is to integrate under the same theory a wide family of classes of mappings for which a Pietsch type factorization theorem holds. We analyze the class of linear operators that are defined by a summability inequality involving a homogeneous map. Our construction includes the cases of absolutely $p$-summing linear operators, $(p,σ)$-absolutely continuous linear operat…
Extending the corresponding notion for matrices or bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space we define a generalized Schur complement for a non-negative linear operator mapping a linear space into its dual and derive some of its properties.
We find the largest linear space of bounded linear operators on L_1(Omega), that being restricted to any L_1(A), A \subset Omega, satisfy the Daugavet equation.
We establish a relation between Lipschitz operator ideals and linear operator ideals, which fits in the framework of Galois connection between lattices. We use this relationship to give a criterion which allow us to recognize when a Banach Lipschitz operator ideal is of composition type or not. Also, we introduce the concept of minimal Banach Lipschitz operator ideal, which have analogous properties to minimal Banach operator ideals. Also we characterize minimal Banach Lipschitz operator ideals which are of composition type and present examples which are not of this class.
In this paper we consider the $f$-orthomorphisms and $f$-linear operators on the order dual of an $f$-algebra. In particular, when the $f$-algebra has the factorization property (not necessarily unital), we prove that the orthomorphisms, $f$-orthomorphisms and $f$-linear operators on the order dual are precisely the same class of operators.
In this paper we introduce the concept of quadratic operator perspective for a continuous function Φ defined on the positive semi-axis of real numbers. This generalize the quadratic weighted operator geometric mean and the quadratic relative operator entropy. Some inequalities for this perspective of convex functions are established. Applications for quadratic weighted operator geometric mean and quadratic relative operator entropy are also provided.
A standard technique in infinite dimensional holomorphy, which produced several useful results, uses the Borel transform to represent linear functionals on certain spaces of multilinear operators between Banach spaces as multilinear operators. In this paper we develop a technique to represent linear functionals, as linear operators, on spaces of multilinear operators that are beyond the scope of the standard technique. Concrete applications to some well studied classes of multilinear operators, including the class of compact multilinear operators, and to one new class are provided. We can see,…
We consider this and related questions: When is a finite linear combination of composition operators, acting on the Hardy space or the standard weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk, a compact operator?
We present many examples of Banach spaces of linear operators and homogeneous polynomials without the approximation property, thus improving results of Dineen and Mujica [11] and Godefroy and Saphar [13].
In this paper we give the answers to two open questions on complex symmetric composition operators. By doing this, we give a complete description of complex symmetric composition operators whose symbols are linear fractional.
We prove an uniform boundedness principle for the Lipschitz seminorm of continuous, monotone, positively homogeneous and subadditive mappings on suitable cones of functions. The result is applicable to several classes of classically non-linear operators.
We study Birkhoff-James orthogonality and isosceles orthogonality of bounded linear operators between Hilbert spaces and Banach spaces. We explore Birkhoff-James orthogonality of bounded linear operators in light of a new notion introduced by us and also discuss some of the possible applications in this regard. We also study isosceles orthogonality of bounded (positive) linear operators on a Hilbert space and some of the related properties, including that of operators having disjoint support. We further explore the relations between Birkhoff-James orthogonality and isosceles orthogonality in a…
In this work, generalizations of some inequalities for continuous $h$-synchronous ($h$-asynchronous) functions of linear bounded selfadjoint operators under positive linear maps in Hilbert spaces are proved.
Based on ideas of R.W. Cross, a simplified proof is presented of the density invariance of certain operational quantities associated with bounded linear operators in normed vector spaces.
Let B(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space X with dim X greater than 3. In this paper, we characterize the forms of surjective linear maps on B(X) which preserve the dimension of the vector space containing of all fixed points of operators, whenever X is a fifinite dimensional Banach space. Moreover, we characterize the forms of linear maps on B(X) which preserve the vector space containing of all fixed points of operators.
Generalizing classical results of the theory of absolutely summing operators, in this paper we characterize the duals of a quite large class of Banach operator ideals defined or characterized by the transformation of vector-valued sequences.
We completely characterize the Crawford number attainment set and the numerical radius attainment set of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space. We study the intersection properties of the corresponding attainment sets of numerical radius, Crawford number, norm, minimum norm of a bounded linear operator defined on a normed space. Our study illustrates the similarities and the differences of the extremal properties of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space and a general normed space.
We prove that in the reflexive range $1<p<q<\infty$ the algebra of all bounded linear operators on $\ell_p\oplus\ell_q$ has infinitely many closed ideals. This solves a problem raised by A. Pietsch in his book `Operator ideals'.
We study Birkhoff-James orthogonality of compact (bounded) linear operators between Hilbert spaces and Banach spaces. Applying the notion of semi-inner-products in normed linear spaces and some related geometric ideas, we generalize and improve some of the recent results in this context. In particular, we obtain a characterization of Euclidean spaces and also prove that it is possible to retrieve the norm of a compact (bounded) linear operator (functional) in terms of its Birkhoff-James orthogonality set. We also present some best approximation type results in the space of bounded linear opera…
In the present paper, we consider the solvability of positive solutions of nonlinear integral equations by means of investigating non-linear Markov operators. To solve the problem we find necessary and sufficient condition for the surjectivity of nonlinear Markov operators.
The paper deals with generalized positive linear operators based on Pólya-Eggenberger distribution(PED) as well as inverse Pólya-Eggenberger distribution(IPED). Initially, we give the moments by using Stirling numbers of second kind and then establish direct results, convergence with the help of local and weighted approximation of proposed operators.
In the present note a spectral theorem for normal definitizable linear operators on Krein spaces is derived by developing a functional calculus $ϕ\mapsto ϕ(N)$ which is the proper analogue of $ϕ\mapsto \int ϕ\, dE$ in the Hilbert space situation.
In this paper we first introduce the extended limit set $J_{\{T^n\}}(x)$ for a sequence of bounded linear operators $\{T_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ on a separable Banach space $X$ . Then we study the dynamics of sequence of linear operators by using the extended limit set. It is shown that the extended limit set is strongly related to the topologically transitive of a sequence of linear operators. Finally we show that a sequence of operators $\{T_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}\subseteq \mathcal{B}(X)$ is hypercyclic if and only if there exists a cyclic vector $x\in X$ such that $J_{\{T^n\}}(x)=X$.
In this paper we discuss some properties of resolvents of an accretive operator in linear 2-normed spaces, focusing on the concept of contraction mapping and the unique fixed point of contraction mappings in linear 2- normed spaces. Also, we establish the existence of solution of strong accretive operator equation in linear 2-normed spaces.
In this paper, we give some sufficient and necessary conditions for cosine operator functions on solid Banach function spaces to be chaotic or topologically transitive.
In this note we introduce a new technique to answer an issue posed in [7] concerning geometric properties of the set of non-surjective linear operators. We also extend and improve a related result from the same paper.
In this paper we provide a unifying approach to the study of Banach ideals of linear and multilinear operators defined, or characterized, by the transformation of vector-valued sequences. We investigate and apply the linear and multilinear stabilities of some frequently used classes of vector-valued sequences.
In this paper we prove Korovkin type theorem for iterates of general positive linear operators $T:C\left[ 0,1\right] \rightarrow C\left[ 0,1\right] $ and derive quantitative estimates in terms of modulus of smoothness. In particular, we show that under some natural conditions the iterates $T^{m}:C\left[ 0,1\right] \rightarrow C\left[ 0,1\right] $ converges strongly to a fixed point of the original operator $T$. The results can be applied to several well-known operators; we present here the $q$-MKZ operators, the $q$-Stancu operators, the genuine $q$-Bernstein--Durrmeyer operators and the Cesar…
The notion of linear Hahn-Banach extension operator was first studied in detail by Heinrich and Mankiewicz (1982). Previously, J. Lindenstrauss (1966) studied similar versions of this notion in the context of non separable reflexive Banach spaces. Subsequently, Sims and Yost (1989) proved the existence of linear Hahn-Banach extension operators via interspersing subspaces in a purely Banach space theoretic set up. In this paper, we study similar questions in the context of Banach modules and module homomorphisms, in particular, Banach algebras of operators on Banach spaces. Based on Dales, Kani…
We study in this short report the boundedness of classical non-linear operators: Nemytskii, Urysohn, Hammerstein acting from one Grand Lebesgue Space to another one, and deduce some its upper norm estimates. We bring also some examples to illustrate the exactness of our estimates.
We observe that the classical notion of numerical radius gives rise to a notion of smoothness in the space of bounded linear operators on certain Banach spaces, whenever the numerical radius is a norm. We demonstrate an important class of \emph{real} Banach space $ \mathbb{X} $ for which the numerical radius defines a norm on $ \mathbb{L}(\mathbb{X}), $ the space of all bounded linear operators on $ \mathbb{X} $. We characterize Birkhoff-James orthogonality in the space of bounded linear operators on a finite-dimensional Banach space, endowed with the numerical radius norm. Some examples are a…
In this paper we explore the properties of a bounded linear operator defined on a Banach space, in light of operator norm attainment. Using Birkhoff-James orthogonality techniques, we give a necessary condition for a bounded linear operator attaining norm at a particular point of the unit sphere. We prove a number of corollaries to establish the importance of our study. As part of our exploration, we also obtain a characterization of smooth Banach spaces in terms of operator norm attainment and Birkhoff-James orthogonality. Restricting our attention to $ l_{p}^{2} (p \in \mathbb{N}\setminus \{…
This paper studies boundedness and closedness of linear relations, which include both single-valued and multi-valued linear operators. A new (single-valued) linear operator induced by a linear relation is introduced, and its relationships with other two important induced linear operators are established. Several characterizations for closedness, closability, bundedness, relative boundedness, and boundedness from below (above) of linear relations are given in terms of their induced linear operators. In particular, the closed graph theorem for linear relations in Banach spaces is completed, and …
Strongly irreducible operators can be considered as building blocks for bounded linear operators on complex separable Hilbert spaces. Many bounded linear operators can be written as direct sums of at most countably many strongly irreducible operators. In this paper, we show that a bounded linear operator A is similar to a direct integral of strongly irreducible operators if its commutant contains a bounded maximal abelian set of idempotents. We find that bounded linear operators which are similar to direct integrals of strongly irreducible operators form a dense subset of L(H) in the operator …
We improve the operator Kantorovich inequality as follows: Let $A$ be a positive operator on a Hilbert space with $0<m\le A \le M$. Then for every unital positive linear map $Φ$, \[Φ(A^{-1})^2\le (\frac{(M+m)^2}{4Mm})^2Φ(A)^{-2}.\] As a consequence, \[Φ(A^{-1})Φ(A)+Φ(A)Φ(A^{-1}) \le \frac{(M+m)^2}{2Mm}.\]
In this paper, we improve and generalize the operator versions of Kantorovich and Wielandt inequalities for positive linear maps on Hilbert space. Our results are more extensive and precise than many previous results due to Fu and He [Linear Multilinear Algebra, doi: 10. 1080/03081087. 2014. 880432.] and Zhang [Banach J. Math. Anal., 9 (2015), no. 1, 166-172.].
In this paper we study some basic properties of bicomplex linear operators on bicomplex Hilbert spaces. Further we discuss some applications of Hahn-Banach theorem on bicomplex Banach modules. We also introduce and discuss some bicomplex holomorphic function spaces and prove Littlewood's Subordination principle for bicomplex Hardy space.
Cotype is used in this paper to prove new results concerning the existence of non-absolutely summing linear operators between Banach spaces. We derive consequences that extend/generalize/ complement some classic results. We also point out that some of our results are sharp.
If $X$ is a separable infinite dimensional Banach space, we construct a bounded and linear operator $R$ on $X$ such that $$ A_R=\{x \in X, \|R^tx\| \rightarrow \infty\} $$ is not dense and has non empty interior with the additional property that $R$ can be written $I+K$, where $I$ is the identity and $K$ is a compact operator. This answers two recent questions of Hájek and Smith.
In this paper we prove that if T:C[0,1] \rightarrow C[0,1] is a positive linear operator with T(e_0)=1 and T(e_1)-e_1 does not change the sign, then the iterates T^{m} converges to some positive linear operator T^{\infty} :C[0,1] \rightarrow C[0,1] and we derive quantitative estimates in terms of modulii of smoothness. This result enlarges the class of operators for which the limit of the iterates can be computed and the quantitative estimates of iterates can be given.
In order to study Li-Yorke chaos by the scalar perturbation for a given bounded linear operator $T$ on Banach spaces $X$, we introduce the Li-Yorke chaos translation set of $T$, which is defined by $S_{LY}(T)=\{λ\in\mathbb{C};λ+T \text{ is Li-Yorke chaotic}\}$. In this paper, some operator classes are considered, such as normal operator, compact operator, shift and so on. In particular, we show that the Li-Yorke chaos translation set of Kalisch operator on Hilbert space $\mathcal{L}^2[0,2π]$ is a simple point set $\{0\}$.
In this note we solve, except for extremely pathological cases, a question posed by Puglisi and Seoane-Sepulveda on the lineability of the set of bounded non-absolutely summing linear operators. We also show how the idea of the proof can be adapted to several related situations.
