The purpose of this paper is to study the Sasakian geometry on odd dimensional sphere bundles over a smooth projective algebraic variety $N$ with the ultimate, but probably unachievable goal of understanding the existence and non-existence of extremal and constant scalar curvature Sasaki metrics. We apply the fiber join construction of Yamazaki \cite{Yam99} for K-contact manifolds to the Sasaki case. This construction depends on the choice of $d+1$ integral Kähler classes $[ω_j]$ on $N$ that are not necessarily colinear in the Kähler cone. We show that the colinear case is equivalent to a subclass of a different join construction orginally described in \cite{BG00a,BGO06}, applied to the spherical case by the authors in \cite{BoTo13,BoTo14a} when $d=1$, and known as cone decomposable \cite{BHLT16}. The non-colinear case gives rise to infinite families of new inequivalent cone indecomposable Sasaki contact CR on certain sphere bundles. We prove that the Sasaki cone for some of these structures contains an open set of extremal Sasaki metrics and, for certain specialized cases, the regular ray within this cone is shown to have constant scalar curvature. We also compute the cohomology groups of all such sphere bundles over a product of Riemann surfaces.
In this article, we introduce some metallic structures on the tangent bundle of a P-Sasakian manifold by complete lift, horizontal lift and vertical lift of a P-Sasakian structure $(ϕ, η,ξ)$ on tangent bundle. Then we investigate the integrability and parallelity of these metallic structures.
The aim of this paper is to study Sasakian immersions of compact Sasakian manifolds into the odd-dimensional sphere equipped with the standard Sasakian structure. We obtain a complete classification of such manifolds in the Einstein and $η$-Einstein cases when the codimension of the immersion is $4$. Moreover, we exhibit infinite families of compact Sasakian $η$--Einstein manifolds which cannot admit a Sasakian immersion into any odd-dimensional sphere. Finally, we show that, after possibly performing a ${\mathcal {D}}$-homothetic deformation, a homogeneous Sasakian manifold can be Sasakian im…
A positive answer is given to the existence of Sasakian structures on the tangent sphere bundle of some Riemannian manifold whose sectional curvature is not constant. Among other results, it is proved that the tangent sphere bundle Tr(G/K), for any r > 0, of a compact rank-one symmetric space G/K, not necessarily of constant sectional curvature, admits a unique K-contact structure whose characteristic vector field is the standard field of T(G/K). Such a structure is in fact Sasakian and it can be expressed as an induced structure from an almost Hermitian structure on the punctured tangent bund…
Given a compact Kähler manifold $X$, there is an equivalence of categories between the completely reducible flat vector bundles on $X$ and the polystable Higgs bundles $(E,\, θ)$ on $X$ with $c_1(E)= 0= c_2(E)$ \cite{SimC}, \cite{Cor}, \cite{UY}, \cite{DonI}. We extend this equivalence of categories to the context of compact Sasakian manifolds. We prove that on a compact Sasakian manifold, there is an equivalence between the category of semi-simple flat bundles on it and the category of polystable basic Higgs bundles on it with trivial first and second basic Chern classes. We also prove that a…
We present new steady Euler solutions on the (round) 3-sphere, that bifurcate from an ansatz proposed by Khesin, Kuksin and Peralta-Salas, showing that these previously known solutions are not isolated. We also extend this ansatz to any Sasakian 3-manifold, such as the Heisenberg group and $SL(2, \mathbb{R})$.
It is well known that a unit sphere admits Sasakian 3-structure. Also, Sasakian manifolds are locally isometric to a unit sphere under several curvature and critical conditions. So, a natural question is: Does there exist any curvature or critical condition under which a Sasakian 3-manifold represents a geometrical object other than the unit sphere? In this regard, as an extension of the $\ast$-Ricci soliton, the notion of $\ast$-Ricci-Yamabe soliton is introduced and studied on two classes contact metric manifolds. A $(2n + 1)$-dimensional non-Sasakian $N(k)$-contact metric manifold admitting…
In this paper, based on the classical K. Yano's formula, we first establish an optimal integral inequality for compact Lagrangian submanifolds in the complex space forms, which involves the Ricci curvature in the direction $J\vec{H}$ and the norm of the covariant differentiation of the second fundamental form $h$, where $J$ is the almost complex structure and $\vec{H}$ is the mean curvature vector field. Second and analogously, for compact Legendrian submanifolds in the Sasakian space forms with Sasakian structure $(φ,ξ,η,g)$, we also establish an optimal integral inequality involving the Ricc…
The purpose of this paper is to study reducibility properties in Sasakian geometry. First we give the Sasaki version of the de Rham Decomposition Theorem; however, we need a mild technical assumption on the Sasaki automorphism group which includes the toric case. Next we introduce the concept of {\it cone reducible} and consider $S^3$ bundles over a smooth projective algebraic variety where we give a classification result concerning contact structures admitting the action of a 2-torus of Reeb type. In particular, we can classify all such Sasakian structures up to contact isotopy on $S^3$ bundl…
We study quiver gauge theories on the round and squashed seven-spheres, and orbifolds thereof. They arise by imposing $G$-equivariance on the homogeneous space $G/H=\mathrm{SU}(4)/\mathrm{SU}(3)$ endowed with its Sasaki-Einstein structure, and $G/H=\mathrm{Sp}(2)/\mathrm{Sp}(1)$ as a 3-Sasakian manifold. In both cases we describe the equivariance conditions and the resulting quivers. We further study the moduli spaces of instantons on the metric cones over these spaces by using the known description for Hermitian Yang-Mills instantons on Calabi-Yau cones. It is shown that the moduli space of i…
In this paper, we prove that principal circle bundles over the complex projective space equipped with the standard Sasakian structures are volume rigid among all $K$-contact manifolds satisfying positivity conditions of tensors involing the Tanaka-Webster curvature.
We study symmetric Killing 2-tensors on Riemannian manifolds and show that several additional conditions can be realised only for Sasakian manifolds and Euclidean spheres. In particular we show that (three)-Sasakian manifolds can also be characterized by properties of the symmetric products of their characteristic 1-forms. Moreover, we recover a result of S.~Gallot on the characterization of spheres by means of functions satisfying a certain differential equation of order three.

We verify the extension to the zero section of momentum construction of Kaehler-Einstein metrics and Kaehler-Ricci solitons on the total space Y of positive rational powers of the canonical line bundle of toric Fano manifolds with possibly irregular Sasaki-Einstein metrics. More precisely, we show that the extended metric along the zero section has an expression which can be extended to Y, restricts to the associated unit circle bundle as a transversely Kaehler-Einstein (Sasakian eta-Einstein) metric scaled in the Reeb flow direction, and that there is a Riemannian submersion from the scaled S…
In this paper, we show that the uniform L^4-bound of the transverse Ricci curvature along the Sasaki-Ricci flow on a compact quasi-regular transverse Fano Sasakian (2n+1)-manifold M. When M is dimension up to seven and the space of leaves of the characteristic foliation is well-formed, we first show that any solution of the Sasaki-Ricci flow converges in the Cheeger-Gromov sense to the unique singular orbifold Sasaki-Ricci soliton on the limit space which is a S^1-orbibundle over the unique singular Kaehler-Ricci soliton on a normal projective variety with codimension two orbifold singularitie…
We study the formality of the total space of principal SU(2) and SO(3)-bundles over a Wolf space, that is a symmetric positive quaternionic Kähker manifold. We apply this to conclude that all the 3-Sasakian homogeneous spaces are formal. We also determine the principal SU(2) and SO(3)-bundles over the Wolf spaces whose total space is non-formal.
