The topology of certain 3-Sasakian 7-manifolds

We calculate the integer cohomology ring and stable tangent bundle of a family of compact, 3-Sasakian 7-manifolds constructed by Boyer, Galicki, Mann, and Rees. Previously only the rational cohomology ring was known. The most important part of the cohomology ring is a torsion group that we describe explicitly and whose order we compute. There is a surprising connection with the combinatorics of trees.

On formality of Sasakian manifolds

We investigate some topological properties, in particular formality, of compact Sasakian manifolds. Answering some questions raised by Boyer and Galicki, we prove that all higher (than three) Massey products on any compact Sasakian manifold vanish. Hence, higher Massey products do obstruct Sasakian structures. Using this we produce a method of constructing simply connected K-contact non-Sasakian manifolds. A non-Sasakian Lefschetz K-contact manifold of Tievsky type

We find a family of five dimensional completely solvable compact manifolds that constitute the first examples of $K$-contact manifolds which satisfy the Hard Lefschetz Theorem and have a model of Tievsky type just as Sasakian manifolds but do not admit any Sasakian structure.

Topological properties of Eschenburg spaces and 3-Sasakian manifolds

The authors examine topological properties of the 7-dimensional Eschenburg biquotients diag(z^k1,z^k2,z^k3)\SU(3)/diag(z^l1,z^l2,z^l3). A subfamily of these spaces carry a 3-Sasakian metric. The authors show that among this subfamily there exist many 3-Sasakian spaces which are homeomorphic but not diffeomorphic. In addition, they construct a pair of 3-Sasakian spaces which are diffeomorphic, thus giving the first example of a manifold which carries two non-isometric 3-Sasakian metrics. Almost-formality and deformations of representations of the fundamental groups of Sasakian manifolds

For a $2n+1$-dimensional compact Sasakian manifold, if $n\ge 2$, we prove that the analytic germ of the variety of representations of the fundamental group at every semi-simple representation is quadratic. To prove this result, we prove the almost-formality of de Rham complex of a Sasakian manifold with values in a semi-simple flat vector bundle. By the almost-formality, we also prove the vanishing theorem on the cup product of the cohomology of semi-simple flat vector bundles over a compact Sasakian manifold.

Almost formality of quasi-Sasakian and Vaisman manifolds with applications to nilmanifolds

We provide models that are as close as possible to being formal for a large class of compact manifolds that admit a transversely Kaehler structure, including Vaisman and quasi-Sasakian manifolds. As an application we are able to classify the corresponding nilmanifolds.
