In this article, we introduce and study the concept of $ϕ$-2-absorbing quasi primary ideals in commutative rings. Let $R$ be a commutative ring with a nonzero identity and $L(R)$ be the lattice of all ideals of $R$. Suppose that $ϕ:L(R)\rightarrow L(R)\cup\left\{ \emptyset\right\} $ is a function. A proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is called a $ϕ$-2-absorbing quasiprimary ideal of $R$ if $a,b,c\in R$ and whenever $abc\in I-ϕ(I),$ then either $ab\in\sqrt{I}$ or $ac\in\sqrt{I}$ or $bc\in\sqrt{I}$. In addition to giving many properties of $ϕ$-2-absorbing quasi primary ideals, we also use them to characterize von Neumann regular rings.
In this study, we introduce the concept of "uniformly 2-absorbing primary ideals" of commutative rings, which imposes a certain boundedness condition on the usual notion of 2-absorbing primary ideals of commutative rings. Then we investigate some properties of uniformly 2-absorbing primary ideals of commutative rings with examples. Also, we investigate a specific kind of uniformly 2-absorbing primary ideals by the name of "special 2-absorbing primary ideals".
We define a new generalization of n-absorbing ideals in commutative rings called n-absorbing I-primary ideals. We investigate some characterizations and properties of such new generalization. If P is an n-absorbing I-primary ideal of R and $\sqrt{IP} =I \sqrt{P} $, then $\sqrt{P}$ is a n-absorbing I-primary ideal of R. Also, if $\sqrt{P}$ is an (n-1)-absorbing ideal of R such that $\sqrt{I \sqrt{P}} \subseteq IP$, then P is an n-absorbing I-primary ideal of R.
This article aims to solve positively Anderson-Badawi Conjecture of n-Absorbing and strongly n-absorbing ideals of commutative rings in the class of u-rings. The main result extends and recovers Anderson-Badawis related result on Prufer domains
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with non-zero identity and $M$ be a unitary $R$-module. The goal of this paper is to extend the concept of 1-absorbing primary ideals to 1-absorbing primary submodules. A proper submodule $N$ of $M$ is said to be a 1-absorbing primary submodule if whenever non-unit elements $a,b\in R$ and $m\in M$ with $abm\in N$, then either $ab\in(N:_{R}M)$ or $m\in M-rad(N).$ Various properties and chacterizations of this class of submodules are considered. Moreover, 1-absorbing primary avoidance theorem is proved.
In this work, we introduce the notion of $S$-1-absorbing primary submodule as an extension of 1-absorbing primary submodule. Let $S$ be a multiplicatively closed subset of a ring $R$ and $M$ be an $R$-module. A submodule $N$ of $M$ with $(N:_{R}M)\cap S=\emptyset$ is said to be $S$-1-absorbing primary if whenever $abm\in N$ for some non-unit $a,b\in R$ and $m\in M$, then either $sab\in(N:_{R}M)$ or $sm\in M$-$rad(N)$. We examine several properties of this concept and provide some characterizations. In addition, $S$-1-absorbing primary avoidance theorem and $S $-1-absorbing primary property for…
Primary hyperideals have been introduced and studied in multiplicative hyperrings. In this paper, we intend to study extensively primary hyperideals of multiplicative hyperrings with absorbing zero and prove some results regarding them. Also, we describe Cu- ideals of multiplicative hyperrings which are particular classes of hyperideals. In the last section, we introduce 2-absorbing primary hyperideals and investigate the properties of this notion in commutative multiplicative hyperrings.
All rings are commutative with $1\neq0$. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of weakly $n$-absorbing ideals generalizing weakly 2-absorbing ideals. We prove that over a $u$-ring $R$ the Anderson-Badawi's conjectures about $n$-absorbing ideals and the Badawi-Yousefian's question about weakly 2-absorbing ideals hold.
Let $G$ be a group with identity $e$ and $R$ be a $G$-graded commutative ring with nonzero unity $1$. In this article, we introduce the concept of graded strongly $1$-absorbing primary ideals. A proper graded ideal $P$ of $R$ is said to be a graded strongly $1$-absorbing primary ideal of $R$ if whenever nonunit homogeneous elements $x, y, z\in R$ such that $xyz\in P$, then either $xy\in P$ or $z\in Grad(\{0\})$ (the graded radical of $\{0\}$). Several properties of graded strongly $1$-absorbing primary ideals are investigated. Many results are given to disclose the relations between this new c…
This paper introduce and study weakly 1-absorbing prime ideals in commutative rings. Let $A$ be a commutative ring with a nonzero identity $1\neq 0$. A proper ideal $P$ of $A$ is said to be a weakly 1-absorbing prime ideal if for each nonunits $x, y, z \in A$ with $0\neq xyz \in P$, then either $xy \in P$ or $z \in P$. In addition to give many properties and characterizations of weakly 1-absorbing prime ideals, we also determine rings in which every proper ideal is weakly 1-absorbing prime. Furthermore, we investigate weakly 1-absorbing prime ideals in $C(X)$, which is the ring of continuous f…
A famous result due to L. S. Levy provides a classification of all finitely generated indecomposable modules over Dedekind-like rings. This motivates us to outline an approach to the classification of indecomposable pseudo-absorbing primary multiplication modules with finite-dimensional top over certain kinds of pullback rings. In this paper, we give a complete classification, up to isomorphism, of all indecomposable pseudo-absorbing primary multiplication modules with finite-dimensional top over a pullback of two valuation domains with the same residue field. We also find a connection between…
All rings are commutative with $1\neq0$, and all modules are unital. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of $2$-absorbing primary submodules generalizing $2$-absorbing primary ideals of rings. Let $M$ be an $R$-module. A proper submodule $N$ of an $R$-module $M$ is called a $2$-absorbing primary submodule of $M$ if whenever $a,b\in R$ and $m\in M$ and $abm\in N$, then $am\in M$-$rad(N)$ or $bm\in M$-$rad(N)$ or $ab\in(N:_RM)$. It is shown that a proper submodule $N$ of $M$ is a $2$-absorbing primary submodule if and only if whenever $I_1I_2K\subseteq N$ for some ideals $I_1…
In this note we show that in a commutative ring $R$ with unity, for any $n > 0$, if $I$ is an $n$-absorbing ideal of $R$, then $(\sqrt{I})^{n} \subseteq I$.
In this paper, we introduce $ϕ$-1-absorbing prime ideals in commutative rings. Let $R$ be a commutative ring with a nonzero identity $1\neq0$ and $ϕ:\mathcal{I}(R)\rightarrow\mathcal{I}(R)\cup\{\emptyset\}$ be a function where $\mathcal{I}(R)$ is the set of all ideals of $R$. A proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is called a $ϕ$-1-absorbing prime ideal if for each nonunits $x,y,z\in R$ with $xyz\in I-ϕ(I)$, then either $xy\in I$ or $z\in I$. In addition to give many properties and characterizations of $ϕ$-1-absorbing prime ideals, we also determine rings in which every proper ideal is $ϕ$-1-absorbing prim…
Let R be a multiplicative hyperring. In this paper, we define the concept of 1-absorbing prime hyperideals which is a generalization of the prime hyperideals. Several properties of the hyperideals are provided. Moreover, we introduce the notions of 1-absorbing primary hyperideals, strongly 1-absorbing primary hyperideals and weakly 1-absorbing primary hyperideals which are generalizations of the 1-absorbing prime hyperideals and then we will show some properties of them.
Let $G$ be a group, $R$ be a $G$-graded commutative ring with nonzero unity and $GI(R)$ be the set of all graded ideals of $R$. Suppose that $ϕ:GI(R)\rightarrow GI(R)\cup\{\emptyset\}$ is a function. In this article, we introduce and study the concept of graded $ϕ$-$1$-absorbing prime ideals. A proper graded ideal $I$ of $R$ is called a graded $ϕ$% -$1$-absorbing prime ideal of $R$ if whenever $a,b,c$ are homogeneous nonunit elements of $R$ such that $abc\in I-ϕ(I)$, then $ab\in I$ or $c\in I$. Several properties of graded $ϕ$-$1$-absorbing prime ideals have been examined.
In a commutative ring $R$ with unity, given an ideal $I$ of $R$, Anderson and Badawi in 2011 introduced the invariant $ω(I)$, which is the minimal integer $n$ for which $I$ is an $n$-absorbing ideal of $R$. In the specific case that $R = k[x_{1}, \ldots, x_{n}]$ is a polynomial ring over a field $k$ in $n$ variables $x_{1},\ldots, x_{n}$, we calculate $ω(I)$ for certain monomial ideals $I$ of $R$.
All rings are commutative with $1$ and $n$ is a positive integer. Let $ϕ: J(R)\to J(R)\cup{\emptyset}$ be a function where $J(R)$ denotes the set of all ideals of $R$. We say that a proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is $ϕ$-$n$-absorbing primary if whenever $a_1,a_2,...,a_{n+1}\in R$ and $a_1a_2\cdots a_{n+1}\in I\backslashϕ(I)$, either $a_1a_2\cdots a_n\in I$ or the product of $a_{n+1}$ with $(n-1)$ of $a_1,...,a_n$ is in $\sqrt{I}$. The aim of this paper is to investigate the concept of $ϕ$-$n$-absorbing primary ideals.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with nonzero identity. A. Yassine et al. defined in the paper (Yassine, Nikmehr and Nikandish, 2020), the concept of $1$-absorbing prime ideals as follows: a proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is said to be a $1$-absorbing prime ideal if whenever $xyz\in I$ for some nonunit elements $x,y,z\in R$, then either $xy\in I$ or $z\in\ I$. We use the concept of $1$-absorbing prime ideals to study those commutative rings in which every proper ideal is a product of $1$-absorbing prime ideals (we call them $OAF$-rings). Any $OAF$-ring has dimension at most one and local $OAF$-domains $…
We use the concept of 2-absorbing ideal introduced by Badawi to study those commutative rings in which every proper ideal is a product of 2-absorbing ideals (we call them TAF-rings). Any TAF-ring has dimension at most one and the local TAF-domains are the atomic pseudo-valuation domains.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with nonzero identity. Let $\mathcal{I}(R)$ be the set of all ideals of $R$ and let $δ: \mathcal{I}(R)\longrightarrow \mathcal{I}(R)$ be a function. Then $δ$ is called an expansion function of ideals of $R$ if whenever $L, I, J$ are ideals of R with $J \subseteq I$, we have $L \subseteq δ( L)$ and $δ(J)\subseteq δ(I)$. Let $δ$ be an expansion function of ideals of $R$. In this paper, we introduce and investigate a new class of ideals that is closely related to the class of $δ$-primary ideals. A proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is said to be a $1$-absorbing $δ$-primary idea…
In this paper, we introduce the concepts of strongly 2-absorbing primary ideals (resp., submodules) and strongly 2-absorbing ideals (resp., submodules) as generalizations of strongly prime ideals. Furthermore, we investigate some basic properties of these classes of ideals.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity. In this paper, we introduce the concept of weakly $1$-absorbing prime ideals which is a generalization of weakly prime ideals. A proper ideal $I$ of $R$ is called weakly $1$-absorbing prime if for all nonunit elements $a,b,c \in R$ such that $0\neq abc \in I$, then either $ab \in I$ or $c \in I$. A number of results concerning weakly $1$-absorbing prime ideals and examples of weakly $1$-absorbing prime ideals are given. It is proved that if $I$ is a weakly $1$-absorbing prime ideal of a ring $R$ and $0 \neq I_1I_2I_3 \subseteq I$ for some ideals $I_…
Let $R$ be a graded commutative ring with non-zero unity $1$ and $M$ be a graded unitary $R$-module. In this article, we introduce the concepts of graded $ϕ$-$2$-absorbing and graded $ϕ$-$2$-absorbing primary submodules as generalizations of the concepts of graded $2$-absorbing and graded $2$-absorbing primary submodules. Let $GS(M)$ be the set of all graded $R$-submodules of $M$ and $ϕ: GS(M)\rightarrow GS(M)\bigcup\{\emptyset\}$ be a function. In this paper we study primality and primary decomposition of certain ideals which are generated by homogeneous degree $2$ polynomials and occur naturally from determinantal conditions. Normality is derived from these results.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with $1\neq0$. In this article, we introduce the concept of weakly $(m,n)-$closed $δ-$primary ideals of $R$ and explore its basic properties. We show that $I\bowtie^{f}J$ is a weakly $(m,n)-$closed $δ_{\bowtie^{f}}-$primary ideal of $A\bowtie^{f}J$ that is not $(m,n)-$closed $δ_{\bowtie^{f}}-$primary if and only if $I$ is a weakly $(m,n)-$closed $δ-$primary ideal of $A$ that is not $(m,n)-$closed $δ-$primary and for every $δ$-$(m,n)$-unbreakable-zero element $a$ of $I$ we have $(f(a)+j)^{m}=0$ for every $j\in~J$, where $f:A\rightarrow B$ is a homomorphism of rings…
This paper purposes to characterize Noetherian local rings $(A, {\mathfrak m})$ of positive dimension such that the first Hilbert coefficients of ${\mathfrak m}$-primary ideals in $A$ range among only finitely many values. Examples are explored.
In this paper we describe the method which we applied to successfully compute the primary decomposition of a certain ideal coming from applications in combinatorial algebra and algebraic statistics regarding conditional independence statements with hidden variables. While our method is based on the algorithm for primary decomposition by Gianni, Trager and Zacharias, we were not able to decompose the ideal using the standard form of that algorithm, nor by any other method known to us.
We generalize a Briançon-Skoda type theorem first studied by Aberbach and Huneke. With some conditions on a regular local ring $(R,\m)$ containing a field, and an ideal $I$ of $R$ with analytic spread $\ell$ and a minimal reduction $J$, we prove that for all $w \geq -1$, $ \bar{I^{\ell+w}} \subseteq J^{w+1} \mathfrak{a} (I,J),$ where $\mathfrak{a}(I,J)$ is the coefficient ideal of $I$ relative to $J$, i.e. the largest ideal $\mathfrak{b}$ such that $I\mathfrak{b}=J\mathfrak{b}$. Previously, this result was known only for $\m$-primary ideals.
This Note provides first a generalization of the stabilization result of Eisenbud and Ulrich for the regularity of powers of a m-primary ideal to the case of ideals that are not generated in a single degree. We then partially extend our previous results expressing this stabilization degree in term of the regularity of a specific graded strand of the Rees ring : The natural extension of the statement holds at least if the stabilization index or the regularity is greater than the number of variables. In any case a precise comparison is given.
It was previously known, by work of Smith-Swanson and of Sharp-Nossem, that the linear growth property of primary decompositions of Frobenius powers of ideals in rings of prime characteristic has strong connections to the localization problem in tight closure theory. The localization problem has recently been settled in the negative by Brenner and Monsky, but the linear growth question is still open. We study growth of primary decompositions of Frobenius powers of dimension one homogeneous ideals in graded rings over fields. If the ring is positively graded we prove that the linear growth prop…
Two formulas for the multiplicity of the fiber cone $F(I)=\oplus_{n=0}^{\infty} I^n/\m I^n$ of an $\m$-primary ideal of a $d$-dimensional Cohen-Macaulay local ring $(R,\m)$ are derived in terms of the mixed multiplicity $e_{d-1}(\m | I),$ the multiplicity $e(I)$ and superficial elements. As a consequence, the Cohen-Macaulay property of $F(I)$ when $I$ has minimal mixed multiplicity or almost minimal mixed multiplicity is characterized in terms of reduction number of $I$ and lengths of certain ideals. We also characterize Cohen-Macaulay and Gorenstein property of fiber cones of $\m$-primary ide…
A natural candidate for a generating set of the (necessarily prime) defining ideal of an $n$-dimensional monomial curve, when the ideal is an almost complete intersection, is a full set of $n$ critical binomials. In a somewhat modified and more tractable context, we prove that, when the exponents are all positive, critical binomial ideals in our sense are not even unmixed for $n\geq 4$, whereas for $n\leq 3$ they are unmixed. We further give a complete description of their isolated primary components as the defining ideals of monomial curves with coefficients. This answers an open question on …
In this paper we consider multi-graded extended Rees algebras of zero dimensional ideals which are Cohen-Macaulay (CM) with minimal multiplicity. We show that the minimal multiplicity property can occur only for the ordinary extended Rees algebra and the bigraded extended Rees algebra. For the bigraded extended Rees algebra we find necessary conditions for it to be CM with minimal multiplicity. We also produce bigraded Rees algebras which are Cohen-Macaulay with minimal multiplicity.
We present an algorithm to compute a primary decomposition of an ideal in a polynomial ring over the integers. For this purpose we use algorithms for primary decomposition in polynomial rings over the rationals resp. over finite fields, and the idea of Shimoyama-Yokoyama resp. Eisenbud-Hunecke-Vasconcelos to extract primary ideals from pseudo-primary ideals. A parallelized version of the algorithm is implemented in SINGULAR. Examples and timings are given at the end of the article.
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate prime, primary, and maximal ideals of semirings. The localization and primary decomposition of ideals in semirings are also studied.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with an identity different from zero and $n$ be a positive integer. Anderson and Badawi, in their paper on $n$-absorbing ideals, define a proper ideal $I$ of a commutative ring $R$ to be an $n$-absorbing ideal of $R$, if whenever $x_1 \cdots x_{n+1} \in I$ for $x_1, \ldots, x_{n+1} \in R$, then there are $n$ of the $x_i$'s whose product is in $I$ and conjecture that $ω_{R[X]}(I[X])=ω_R(I)$ for any ideal $I$ of an arbitrary ring $R$, where $ω_R(I)= \min \{n\colon\text{$I$ is an $n$-absorbing ideal of $R$}\}$. In the present paper, we use content formula techniques …
Given a local Noetherian ring $(R, {\mathfrak m})$ of dimension $d>0$ and infinite residue field, we study the invariants $($dimension and multiplicity$)$ of the Sally module $S_J(I)$ of any ${\mathfrak m}$-primary ideal $I$ with respect to a minimal reduction $J$. As a by-product we obtain an estimate for the Hilbert coefficients of ${\mathfrak m}$ that generalizes a bound established by J. Elias and G. Valla in a local Cohen-Macaulay setting. We also find sharp estimates for the multiplicity of the special fiber ring ${\mathcal F}(I)$, which recover previous bounds established by C. Polini, …
