We give complete descriptions of the tracial states on both the universal and reduced crossed products of a C*-dynamical system consisting of a unital C*-algebra and a discrete group. In particular, we also answer the question of when the tracial states are in canonical bijection with the invariant tracial states on the original C*-algebra. This generalizes the unique trace property for discrete groups. The analysis simplifies greatly in various cases, for example when the conjugacy classes of the original group are all finite, and in other cases gives previously known results, for example when the original C*-algebra is commutative. We also obtain results and examples in the case of abelian groups that contradict existing results in the literature of Bédos and Thomsen. Specifically, we give a finite-dimensional counterexample, and provide a correction to the result of Thomsen.
We show that for a locally compact group G there is a one-to-one correspondence between G-invariant weak*-closed subspaces E of the Fourier-Stieltjes algebra B(G) containing B_r(G) and quotients C*_E(G) of C*(G) which are intermediate between C*(G) and the reduced group algebra C*_r(G). We show that the canonical comultiplication on C*(G) descends to a coaction or a comultiplication on C*_E(G) if and only if E is an ideal or subalgebra, respectively. When αis an action of G on a C*-algebra B, we define "E-crossed products" B\rtimes_{α,E} G lying between the full crossed product and the reduced…
Let $G$ be a finite group. Noncommutative geometry of unital $G$-algebras is studied. A geometric structure is determined by a spectral triple on the crossed product algebra associated with the group action. This structure is to be viewed as a representative of a noncommutative orbifold. Based on a study of classical orbifold groupoids, a Morita equivalence for the crossed product spectral triples is developed. Noncommutative orbifolds are Morita equivalence classes of the crossed product spectral triples. As a special case of this Morita theory one can study freeness of the $G$-action on the …
We define the tracial Rokhlin property for actions of finite cyclic groups on stably finite simple unital C*-algebras. We prove that when the algebra is in addition simple and has tracial rank zero, then the crossed product again has tracial rank zero. Under a kind of weak approximate innerness assumption and one other technical condition, we prove that if the action has the the tracial Rokhlin property and the crossed product has tracial rank zero, then the original algebra has tracial rank zero. We give examples showing how the tracial Rokhlin property differs from the Rokhlin property of Iz…
We discuss the interplay between K-theoretical dynamics and the structure theory for certain C*-algebras arising from crossed products. For noncommutative C*-systems we present notions of minimality and topological transitivity in the K-theoretic framework which are used to prove structural results for reduced crossed products. In the presence of sufficiently many projections we associate to each noncommutative C*-system (A,G) a type semigroup S(A,G) which reflects much of the spirit of the underlying action. We characterize purely infinite as well as stably finite crossed products by means of…
A C*-dynamical system is said to have the ideal separation property if every ideal in the corresponding crossed product arises from an invariant ideal in the C*-algebra. In this paper we characterize this property for unital C*-dynamical systems over discrete groups. To every C*-dynamical system we associate a "twisted" partial C*-dynamical system that encodes much of the structure of the action. This system can often be "untwisted," for example when the algebra is commutative, or when the algebra is prime and a certain specific subgroup has vanishing Mackey obstruction. In this case, we obtai…
We study certain actions of finitely generated abelian groups on higher dimensional noncommutative tori. Given a dimension $d$ and a finitely generated abelian group $G$, we apply a certain function to detect whether there is a simple noncommutative $d$-torus which admits a specific action by $G$. We also describe the condition of $G$ under which the associated crossed product is an AF algebra.
In this article we describe extensions of some K-theory classes of Heisenberg modules over higher-dimensional noncommutative tori to projective modules over crossed products of noncommutative tori by finite cyclic groups, aka noncommutative orbifolds. The two dimensional case was treated by Echterhoff, Lück, Phillips and Walters. Our approach is based on the theory of metaplectic transformations of the representation theory of the Heisenberg group. We also describe the generators of the K-groups of the crossed products of flip actions by $\mathbb{Z}_2$ on 3-dimensional noncommutative tori.
We study differential operators, whose coefficients define noncommutative algebras. As algebra of coefficients, we consider crossed products, corresponding to action of a discrete group on a smooth manifold. We give index formulas for Euler, signature and Dirac operators twisted by projections over the crossed product. Index of Connes operators on the noncommutative torus is computed.
For the canonical action $α$ of $\operatorname{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$ on 2-dimensional simple rotation algebras $\mathcal{A}_θ$, it is known that if $F$ is a finite subgroup of $\operatorname{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$, the crossed products $\mathcal{A}_θ\rtimes_αF$ are all AF algebras. In this paper we show that this is not the case for higher dimensional noncommutative tori. More precisely, we show that for each $n\geq 3$ there exist noncommutative simple $ϕ(n)$-dimensional tori $\mathcal{A}_Θ$ which admit canonical action of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ and for each odd $n\geq 7$ with $2ϕ(n)\geq n+5$ their crossed p…
We prove a classification result for a large class of noncommutative Bernoulli crossed products $(P,ϕ)^Λ\rtimes Λ$ without almost periodic states. Our results improve the classification results from [1], where only Bernoulli crossed products built with almost periodic states could be treated. We show that the family of factors $(P,ϕ)^Λ\rtimes Λ$ with $P$ an amenable factor, $ϕ$ a weakly mixing state (i.e. a state for which the modular automorphism group is weakly mixing) and $Λ$ belonging to a large class of groups, is classified by the group $Λ$ and the action $Λ\curvearrowright (P, ϕ)^Λ$, up…
Connes showed that spectral triples encode (noncommutative) metric information. Further, Connes and Moscovici in their metric bundle construction showed that, as with the Takesaki duality theorem, forming a crossed product spectral triple can substantially simplify the structure. In a recent paper, Bellissard, Marcolli and Reihani (among other things) studied in depth metric notions for spectral triples and crossed product spectral triples for $Z$-actions, with applications in number theory and coding theory. In the work of Connes and Moscovici, crossed products involving groups of diffeomorph…
This text is a detailed overview of the theories of W*-algebras and noncommutative integration, up to the Falcone-Takesaki theory of noncommutative Lp spaces over arbitrary W*-algebras, and its extension to noncommutative Orlicz spaces. The topics under consideration include the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, the relative modular theory (featuring bimodules, spatial quotients, and canonical representation), the theory of W*-dynamical systems (featuring derivations, liouvilleans, and crossed products), noncommutative Radon-Nikodym type theorems, and operator valued weights. We pay special atte…
Crossed products with noncommutative Bernoulli actions were introduced by Connes as the first examples of full factors of type III. This article provides a complete classification of the factors $(P,ϕ)^{\mathbb{F}_n} \rtimes \mathbb{F}_n$, where $\mathbb{F}_n$ is the free group and P is an amenable factor with an almost periodic state $ϕ$. We show that these factors are completely classified by the rank n of the free group $\mathbb{F}_n$ and Connes's Sd-invariant. We prove similar results for free product groups, as well as for classes of generalized Bernoulli actions.
Let $Ω$ be a tiling space and let $G$ be the maximal group of rotations which fixes $Ω$. Then the cohomology of $Ω$ and $Ω/G$ are both invariants which give useful geometric information about the tilings in $Ω$. The noncommutative analog of the cohomology of $Ω$ is the K-theory of a C*-algebra associated to $Ω$, and for translationally finite tilings of dimension 2 or less the K-theory is isomorphic to the direct sum of cohomology groups. In this paper we give a prescription for calculating the noncommutative analog of the cohomology of $Ω/G$, that is, the K-theory of the crossed product of th…
We define the localisation of a Hilbert module in analogy to the local multiplier algebra. We use properties of this localisation to enrich non-closed actions on $C^*$-algebras to closed actions on local multiplier algebras, and descend known results on such closed actions down to their unclosed counterparts. We define weak Cartan inclusions and characterise them as crossed products by inverse semigroup actions. We show that in the commutative case we show that weak Cartan subalgebras are maximal abelian, thereby generalising the case studied by Renault.
We introduce a general class of automorphisms of rotation algebras, the noncommutative Furstenberg transformations. We prove that fully irrational noncommutative Furstenberg transformations have the tracial Rokhlin property, which is a strong form of outerness. We conclude that crossed products by these automorphisms have stable rank one, real rank zero, and order on projections determined by traces (Blackadar's Second Fundamental Comparability Question). We also prove that several classes of simple quotients of the C*-algebras of discrete subgroups of five dimensional nilpotent Lie groups, co…
We consider a "twisted" noncommutative join procedure for unital $C^*$-algebras which admit actions by a compact abelian group $G$ and its discrete abelian dual $Γ$, so that we may investigate an analogue of Baum-Dabrowski-Hajac noncommutative Borsuk-Ulam theory in the twisted setting. Namely, under what conditions is it guaranteed that an equivariant map $ϕ$ from a unital $C^*$-algebra $A$ to the twisted join of $A$ and $C^*(Γ)$ cannot exist? This pursuit is motivated by the twisted analogues of even spheres, which admit the same $K_0$ groups as even spheres and have an analogous Borsuk-Ulam …
We will extend earlier transference results of Neuwirth and Ricard from the context of noncommutative $L_p$-spaces associated with amenable groups to that of noncommutative $L_p$-spaces over crossed products of amenable and trace-preserving actions. Namely, if $T_m:L_p(\mathcal{L} G) \rightarrow L_p(\mathcal{L} G)$ is a completely bounded Fourier multiplier, where $\mathcal{L} G \subset \mathcal{B}(L_2 G)$ is the von Neumann algebra of $G$, we will see that $\mathrm{Id} \rtimes T_m: L_p(\mathcal{M} \rtimes_θG) \rightarrow L_p(\mathcal{M} \rtimes_θG)$ is also completely bounded and that $$ \| \…
We study magnetic Schrodinger operators with random or almost periodic electric potentials on the hyperbolic plane, motivated by the quantum Hall effect in which the hyperbolic geometry provides an effective Hamiltonian. In addition we add some refinements to earlier results. We derive an analogue of the Connes-Kubo formula for the Hall conductance via the quantum adiabatic theorem, identifying it as a geometric invariant associated to an algebra of observables that turns out to be a crossed product algebra. We modify the Fredholm modules defined in [CHMM] in order to prove the integrality of …
We introduce a class of unitarily invariant, locally $\|\cdot\|_1$-dominating, mutually continuous norms with repect to $τ$ on a von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ with a faithful, normal, semifinite tracial weight $τ$. We prove a Beurling-Chen-Hadwin-Shen theorem for $H^\infty$-invariant spaces of $L^α(\mathcal{M},τ)$, where $α$ is a unitarily invariant, locally $\|\cdot\|_1$-dominating, mutually continuous norm with respect to $τ$, and $H^\infty$ is an extension of Arveson's noncommutative Hardy space. We use our main result to characterize the $H^\infty$-invariant subspaces of a noncommutati…
In 2008, Blecher and Labuschagne extended Beurling's classical theorem to $H^\infty$-invariant subspaces of $L^p(\mathcal{M},τ)$ for a finite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ with a finite, faithful, normal tracial state $τ$ when $1\le p\le \infty$. In this paper, using Arveson's non-commutative Hardy space $H^\infty$ in relation to a von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ with a semifinite, faithful, normal tracial weight $τ$, we prove a Beurling-Blecher-Labuschagne theorem for $H^\infty$-invariant spaces of $L^p(\mathcal{M},τ)$ when $0<p\leq\infty$. The proof of the main result relies on proofs …
We construct explicit approximating nets for crossed products of C*-algebras by actions of discrete quantum groups. This implies that C*-algebraic approximation properties such as nuclearity, exactness or completely bounded approximation property are preserved by taking crossed products by actions of amenable discrete quantum groups. We also show that the noncommutative topological entropy of a transformation commuting with the quantum group action does not change when we pass to the canonical extension to the crossed product. Both these results are extended to twisted crossed products via a s…
We consider the reduction of problems on general noncommutative $L_p$-spaces to the corresponding ones on those associated with finite von Neumann algebras. The main tool is a unpublished result of the first named author which approximates any noncommutative $L_p$-space by tracial ones. We show that under some natural conditions a map between two von Neumann algebras extends to their crossed products by a locally compact abelian group or to their noncommutative $L_p$-spaces. We present applications of these results to the theory of noncommutative martingale inequalities by reducing most recent…
We show how the known theory of noncommutative Orlicz spaces for semifinite von Neumann algebras equipped with an fns trace, may be recovered using crossed product techniques. Then using this as a template, we construct analogues of such spaces for type III algebras. The constructed spaces naturally dovetail with and closely mimic the behaviour of Haagerup $L^p$-spaces. We then define a modified $K$-method of interpolation which seems to better fit the present context, and give a formal prescription for using this method to define what may be regarded as type III Riesz-Fischer spaces.
Let F be a finite subgroup of SL_2 (Z) (necessarily isomorphic to one of Z/2Z, Z/3Z, Z/4Z, or Z/6Z), and let F act on the irrational rotational algebra A_θ via the restriction of the canonical action of SL_2 (Z). Then the crossed product of A_θ by F, and the fixed point algebra for the action of F on A_θ, are AF algebras. The same is true for the crossed product and fixed point algebra of the flip action of Z/2Z on any simple d-dimensional noncommutative torus A_Θ. Along the way, we prove a number of general results which should have useful applications in other situations.
Using the Falcone--Takesaki theory of noncommutative integration and Kosaki's canonical representation, we construct a family of noncommutative Orlicz spaces that are associated to an arbitrary W*-algebra without any choice of weight involved, and we show that this construction is functorial over the category of W*-algebras with *-isomorphisms as arrows. Under a choice of representation, these spaces are isometrically isomorphic to Kunze's noncommutative Orlicz spaces over crossed products.
Starting with a spectral triple on a unital $C^{*}$-algebra $A$ with an action of a discrete group $G$, if the action is uniformly bounded (in a Lipschitz sense) a spectral triple on the reduced crossed product $C^{*}$-algebra $A\rtimes_{r} G$ is constructed in [Hawkins, Skalski, White, Zacharias. Mathematica Scandinavica 2013]. The main instrument is the Kasparov external product. We note that this construction still works for twisted crossed products when the twisted action is uniformly bounded in the appropriate sense. Under suitable assumptions we discuss some basic properties of the resul…
We show that unital simple C*-algebras with tracial topological rank zero which are locally approximated by subhomogeneous C^-algebras can be classified by their ordered $K$-theory. We apply this classification result to show that certain simple crossed products are isomorphic if they have the same ordered $K$-theory. In particular, irrational higher dimensional non-commutative tori of the form $C({\mathbb T}^k)\times_θ{\mathbb Z}$ are in fact inductive limits of circle algebras.
We transfer a large part of the circle of theorems characterizing the generalization of classical $H^\infty$ known as `weak* Dirichlet algebras', to Arveson's noncommutative setting of subalgebras of finite von Neumann algebras.
Starting from a discrete $C^*$-dynamical system $(\mathfrak{A}, θ, ω_o)$, we define and study most of the main ergodic properties of the crossed product $C^*$-dynamical system $(\mathfrak{A}\rtimes_α\mathbb{Z}, Φ_{θ, u},\om_o\circ E)$, $E:\mathfrak{A}\rtimes_α\mathbb{Z}\rightarrow\ga$ being the canonical conditional expectation of $\mathfrak{A}\rtimes_α\mathbb{Z}$ onto $\mathfrak{A}$, provided $\a\in\aut(\ga)$ commute with the $*$-automorphism $þ$ up tu a unitary $u\in\ga$. Here, $Φ_{θ, u}\in\aut(\mathfrak{A}\rtimes_α\mathbb{Z})$ can be considered as the fully noncommutative generalisation of …
We start from Rieffel data (A,f,X) where A is a C*-algebra, X is an action of an abelian group H on A and f is a 2-cocycle on the dual group. Using Landstad theory of crossed product we get a deformed C*-algebra A(f). In the case of H being the n-th Cartesian product of the real numbers we obtain a very simple proof of invariance of K-groups under the deformation. In the general case we also get a very simple proof that nuclearity is preserved under the deformation. We show how our approach leads to quantum groups and investigate their duality. The general theory is illustrated by an example o…
It is shown that the bona fide generalization of the Vitali-Hahn-Saks Theorem to von Neumann algebras is possible if, and only if, the algebra is finite. This settles the problem on the noncommutative Vitali-Hahn-Saks Theorem completely and provides new means of characterizing finite von Neumann algebras.
We construct the crossed product of a C(X)-algebra by an endomorphism, in such a way that the endomorphism itself becomes induced by the bimodule of continuous sections of a vector bundle. Some motivating examples for such a construction are given. Furthermore, we study the C*-algebra of G-invariant elements of the Cuntz-Pimsner algebra associated with a G-vector bundle, where G is a (noncompact, in general) group. In particular, the C*-algebra of invariant elements w.r.t. the action of the group of special unitaries of the given vector bundle is a crossed product in the above sense. We also s…
S. L. Woronowicz's theory of introducing C*-algebras generated by unbounded elements is applied to q-normal operators satisfying the defining relation of the quantum complex plane. The unique non-degenerate C*-algebra of bounded operators generated by a q-normal operator is computed and an abstract description is given by using crossed product algebras. If the spectrum of the modulus of the q-normal operator is the positive half line, this C*-algebra will be considered as the algebra of continuous functions on the quantum complex plane vanishing at infinity, and its unitization will be viewed …
Let $G$ be a real or $p$-adic reductive group. We consider the tempered dual of $G$, and its connected components. For real groups, Wassermann proved in 1987, by noncommutative-geometric methods, that each connected component has a simple geometric structure which encodes the reducibility of induced representations. For $p$-adic groups, each connected component of the tempered dual comes with a compact torus equipped with a finite group action, and we prove that a version of Wassermann's theorem holds true under a certain geometric assumption on the structure of stabilizers for that action. We…
We introduce and study the notions of boundary actions and of the Furstenberg boundary of a discrete quantum group. As for classical groups, properties of boundary actions turn out to encode significant properties of the operator algebras associated with the discrete quantum group in question; for example we prove that if the action on the Furstenberg boundary is faithful, the quantum group C*-algebra admits at most one KMS-state for the scaling automorphism group. To obtain these results we develop a version of Hamana's theory of injective envelopes for quantum group actions, and establish se…
C*-endomorphisms arising from superselection structures with non-trivial centre define a 'rank' and a 'first Chern class'. Crossed products by such endomorphisms involve the Cuntz-Pimsner algebra of a vector bundle having the above-mentioned rank and first Chern class, and can be used to construct a duality for abstract (nonsymmetric) tensor categories vs. group bundles acting on (nonsymmetric) Hilbert bimodules. Existence and unicity of the dual object (i.e., the 'gauge' group bundle) are not ensured: we give a description of this phenomenon in terms of a certain moduli space associated with …
We consider Exel's interaction $(V,H)$ over a unital $C^*$-algebra $A$, such that $V(A)$ and $H(A)$ are hereditary subalgebras of $A$. For the associated crossed product, we obtain a uniqueness theorem, ideal lattice description, simplicity criterion and a version of Pimsner-Voiculescu exact sequence. These results cover the case of crossed products by endomorphisms with hereditary ranges and complementary kernels. As model examples of interactions not coming from endomorphisms we introduce and study in detail interactions arising from finite graphs. The interaction $(V,H)$ associated to a gra…
We extend Beurling's invariant subspace theorem, by characterizing subspaces $K$ of the noncommutative $L^p$ spaces which are invariant with respect to Arveson's maximal subdiagonal algebras, sometimes known as noncommutative $H^\infty$. It is significant that a certain subspace, and a certain quotient, of $K$ are $L^p({\mathcal D})$-modules in the recent sense of Junge and Sherman, and therefore have a nice decomposition into cyclic submodules. We also give general inner-outer factorization formulae for elements in the noncommutative $L^p$. These facts generalize the classical ones, and shoul…
We use a Heegaard splitting of the topological 3-sphere as a guiding principle to construct a family of its noncommutative deformations. The main technical point is an identification of the universal C*-algebras defining our quantum 3-spheres with an appropriate fiber product of crossed-product C*-algebras. Then we employ this result to show that the K-groups of our family of noncommutative 3-spheres coincide with their classical counterparts.
We obtain dimension free estimates for noncommutative Riesz transforms associated to conditionally negative length functions on group von Neumann algebras. This includes Poisson semigroups, beyond Bakry's results in the commutative setting. Our proof is inspired by Pisier's method and a new Khintchine inequality for crossed products. New estimates include Riesz transforms associated to fractional laplacians in $\mathbb{R}^n$ (where Meyer's conjecture fails) or to the word length of free groups. Lust-Piquard's work for discrete laplacians on LCA groups is also generalized in several ways. In th…
We introduce the notion of Zimmer amenability for actions of discrete quantum groups on von Neumann algebras. We prove generalizations of several fundamental results of the theory in the noncommutative case. In particular, we give a characterization of Zimmer amenability of an action $α:\Bbb G\curvearrowright N$ in terms of $\hat{\Bbb{G}}$-injectivity of the von Neumann algebra crossed product $N\ltimes_α\Bbb G$. As an application we show that the actions of any discrete quantum group on its Poisson boundaries are always amenable.
We generalize to the setting of Arveson's maximal subdiagonal subalgebras of finite von Neumann algebras, the Szegö $L^p$-distance estimate, and classical theorems of F. and M. Riesz, Gleason and Whitney, and Kolmogorov. In so doing, we are finally able to provide a complete noncommutative analog of the famous cycle of theorems characterizing the function theoretic generalizations of $H^\infty$. A sample of our other results: we prove a Kaplansky density result for a large class of these algebras, and give a necessary condition for when every completely contractive homomorphism on a unital sub…
Let $T$ be a circle and $LT$ be its loop group. Let $\mathcal{M}$ be an infinite dimensional manifold equipped with a nice $LT$-action. We construct an analytic $LT$-equivariant index for $\mathcal{M}$, and justify it in terms of noncommutative geometry. More precisely, we construct a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ consisting of "$L^2$-sections of a Clifford module bundle" and a "Dirac operator" $\mathcal{D}$ which acts on $\mathcal{H}$. Then, we define an analytic index of $\mathcal{D}$ valued in the representation group of $LT$, so called Verlinde ring. We also define a "twisted crossed product…
A classification result is obtained for the C*-algebras that are (stably isomorphic to) inductive limits of 1-dimensional noncommutative CW complexes with trivial $K_1$-group. The classifying functor Cu is defined in terms of the Cuntz semigroup of the unitization of the algebra. For the simple C*-algebras covered by the classification, Cu reduces to the ordered $K_0$-group, the cone of traces, and the pairing between them. As an application of the classification, it is shown that the crossed products by a quasi-free action $O_2\rtimes_λ\mathbb{R}$ are all isomorphic for a dense set of positiv…
Let $Γ\curvearrowright Ω$ be a measure-preserving action and $\mathcal{L} Γ\hookrightarrow L^\infty(Ω) \rtimes Γ$ the natural inclusion of the group von Neumann algebra into the crossed product. When $μ(Ω) = \infty$, we have that this natural embedding is not trace-preserving and therefore does not extends boundedly to the associated noncommutative $L^p$-spaces. Nevertheless, we show that when $Ω$ has an invariant mean there is an isometric embedding of $L^p(\mathcal{L} Γ)$ into an ultrapower of $L^p(Ω\rtimes Γ)$ that intertwines Fourier multipliers and is $\mathcal{L} Γ$-bimodular. As a conse…
Let (A,H,D) be a spectral triple, namely: A is a C*-algebra, H is a Hilbert space on which A acts and D is a selfadjoint operator with compact resolvent such that the set of elements of A having a bounded commutator with D is dense. A spectral metric space, the noncommutative analog of a complete metric space, is a spectral triple (A,H,D) with additional properties which guaranty that the Connes metric induces the weak*-topology on the state space of A. A *-automorphism respecting the metric defined a dynamical system. This article gives various answers to the question: is there a canonical sp…
Given a spectral triple on a unital $C^{*}$-algebra $A$ and an equicontinuous action of a discrete group $G$ on $A$, a spectral triple on the reduced crossed product $C^{*}$-algebra $A\rtimes_r G$ was constructed by Hawkins, Skalski, White and Zacharias in [On spectral triples on crossed products arising from equicontinuous actions, Math. Scand. 113(2) (2013) 262-291], extending the construction by Belissard, Marcolli and Reihani in [Dynamical systems on spectral metric spaces, preprint (2010), arXiv:1008.4617], by using the Kasparov product to make an ansatz for the Dirac operator. Supposing …
We define a notion of dynamical pressure at a self-adjoint element for a contractive completely positive self-map of an exact C*-algebra which adopts Voiculescu's approximation approach to noncommutative entropy and extends the Voiculescu-Brown topological entropy and Neshveyev-Stormer unital-nuclear pressure. A variational inequality bounding the pressure below by the free energies with respect to the Sauvageot-Thouvenot entropy is established in two stages via the introduction of a local state approximation entropy, whose associated free energies function as an intermediate term. Pimsner C*-…
