With using the algebraic approach Lie symmetries of Schrödinger equations with matrix potentials are classified. Thirty three inequivalent equations of such type together with the related symmetry groups are specified, the admissible equivalence relations are clearly indicated. In particular the Boyer results concerning kinematical invariance groups for arbitrary potentials (C. P. Boyer, Helv. Phys. Acta, {\bf 47}, 450--605 (1974)) are clarified and corrected.
Lie symmetries of the Schroedinger-Pauli equations for charged particles and quasirelativistic Schroedinger equations are classified. In particular a new superintegrable system with spin-orbit coupling is discovered.
Integrable quantum mechanical systems for neutral particles with spin $\frac12$ and nontrivial dipole momentum are classified. It is demonstrated that such systems give rise to new exactly solvable problems of quantum mechanics with clear physical content. Solutions for three of them are given in explicit form. The related symmetry algebras and superalgebras are discussed. The presented classification is restricted to two-dimensional systems which admit matrix integrals of motion linear in momenta.
Using the algebraic approach Lie symmetries of time dependent Schroedinger equations for charged particles interacting with superpositions of scalar and vector potentials are classified. Namely, all the inequivalent equations admitting symmetry transformations with respect to continuous groups of transformations are presented. This classification is completed and includes the specification of symmetries and admissible equivalence relations for such equations. In particular, a simple mapping between the free Schroedinger equation and the repulsive oscillator is found which has a clear group-the…
We investigate physical models which possess simultaneous ordinary and type A N-fold supersymmetries, which we call type A (N,1)-fold supersymmetry. Inequivalent type A (N,1)-fold supersymmetric models with real-valued potentials are completely classified. Among them, we find that a trigonometric Rosen-Morse type and its elliptic version are of physical interest. We investigate various aspects of these models, namely, dynamical breaking and interrelation between ordinary and N-fold supersymmetries, shape invariance, quasi-solvability, and an associated algebra which is composed of one bosonic …
We consider different variants of factorization of a 2x2 matrix Schroedinger/Pauli operator in two spatial dimensions. They allow to relate its spectrum to the sum of spectra of two scalar Schroedinger operators, in a manner similar to one-dimensional Darboux transformations. We consider both the case when such factorization is reduced to the ordinary 2-dimensional SUSY QM quasifactorization and a more general case which involves covariant derivatives. The admissible classes of electromagnetic fields are described and some illustrative examples are given.
In this paper we show how all the quantum properties of Schroedinger and Pauli particles can be described entirely from within a Clifford algebra taken over the reals. There is no need to appeal to any `wave function'. To describe a quantum system, we define the Clifford density element [CDE] as a product of an element of a minimal left ideal and its Clifford conjugate. The properties of the system are then completely specified in terms of bilinear invariants of the first and second kind calculated using the CDE. Thus the quantum properties of a system can be completely described from within t…
We study the question of magnetic confinement of quantum particles on the unit disk $\ID$ in $\IR^2$, i.e. we wish to achieve confinement solely by means of the growth of the magnetic field $B(\vec x)$ near the boundary of the disk. In the spinless case we show that $B(\vec x)\ge \frac{\sqrt 3}{2}\cdot\frac{1}{(1-r)^2}-\frac{1}{\sqrt 3}\frac{1}{(1-r)^2\ln \frac{1}{1-r}}$, for $|\vec x|$ close to 1, insures the confinement provided we assume that the non-radially symmetric part of the magnetic field is not very singular near the boundary. Both constants $\frac{\sqrt 3}{2}$ and $-\frac{1}{\sqrt …
We show that the number of symmetry operators of order not higher that q of the nonstationary n-dimensional (n=1,2,3,4) Schroedinger equation (SE) with nonvanishing potentials is finite and does not exceed that of SE with zero potentials for arbitrary q=0,1,2,... . This result is applied for the determination of the general form of time dependance of the symmetry operators of SE with time-independant potentials.
We consider 2- and 3-dimensional Schrödinger or generalized Schrödinger-Pauli operators with the non-degenerating magnetic field in the open domain under certain non-degeneracy assumptions we derive pointwise spectral asymptotics. We also consider asymptotics of some related expressions (see below). For all asymptotics loops rather than periodic trajectories play important role.
We study arbitrary order symmetry operators for the linear Schrödinger equations with arbitrary number of spatial variables. We deduce determining equations for coefficient functions of such operators and consider in detail some cases when these equations can be explicitly solved. In addition, the complete group classification of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is presented.
We apply the discrete multiscale expansion to the Lax pair and to the first few symmetries of the lattice potential Korteweg-de Vries equation. From these calculations we show that, like the lowest order secularity conditions give a nonlinear Schroedinger equation, the Lax pair gives at the same order the Zakharov and Shabat spectral problem and the symmetries the hierarchy of point and generalized symmetries of the nonlinear Schroedinger equation.
We classify (1+3)-dimensional Pauli equations for a spin-1/2 particle interacting with the electro-magnetic field, that are solvable by the method of separation of variables. As a result, we obtain the eleven classes of vector-potentials of the electro-magnetic field A(t,x) providing separability of the corresponding Pauli equations. It is established, in particular, that the necessary condition for the Pauli equation to be separable into second-order matrix ordinary differential equations is its equivalence to the system of two uncoupled Schroedinger equations. In addition, the magnetic field…
It is shown that all PDM Schroedinger equations admitting more than five dimensional Lie symmetry algebras (whose completed list can be found in paper~[{\it J.~Math. Phys.} {\bf 58}, , 083508 (2017)] are exactly solvable. The corresponding exact solutions are presented. The supersymmetric aspects of the exactly solvable systems are discussed.
We discuss umbral calculus as a method of systematically discretizing linear differential equations while preserving their point symmetries as well as generalized symmetries. The method is then applied to the Schrödinger equation in order to obtain a realization of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics in discrete space-time. In this approach a quantum system on a lattice has a symmetry algebra isomorphic to that of the continuous case. Moreover, systems that are integrable, superintegrable or exactly solvable preserve these properties in the discrete case.
The symmetries of a free incompressible fluid span the Galilei group, augmented with independent dilations of space and time. When the fluid is compressible, the symmetry is enlarged to the expanded Schroedinger group, which also involves, in addition, Schroedinger expansions. While incompressible fluid dynamics can be derived as an appropriate non-relativistic limit of a conformally-invariant relativistic theory, the recently discussed Conformal Galilei group, obtained by contraction from the relativistic conformal group, is not a symmetry. This is explained by the subtleties of the non-relat…
An algorithm for studing the symmetrical properties of the partial differential equation of the type Lu=0 is proposed. By symmetry of this equation we mean the operators Q satisfying commutational relations of order p more than p=1 on the solutions u: [L...[L,Q]...]u=0. It is shown, that within the framework of the proposed method with p=2 the relativistic D'Alembert and Maxwell equations are the Galilei symmetrical ones. Analogously, with p=2 the Galilei symmetrical Schroedinger equation is the relativistic symmetrical one. In both cases the standard symmetries are realized with p=1.
The classical quantization of the motion of a free particle and that of an harmonic oscillator on a double cone are achieved by a quantization scheme [M.C. Nucci, Theor. Math. Phys. 168 (2011) 994], that preserves the Noether point symmetries of the underlying Lagrangian in order to construct the Schroedinger equation. The result is different from that given in [K. Kowalski, J.Rembielnski, Ann. Phys. 329 (2013) 146]. A comparison of the different outcomes is provided.
By exploring a spinor space whose elements carry a spin 1/2 representation of the Lorentz group and satisfy the the Fierz-Pauli-Kofink identities we show that certain symmetries operations form a Lie group. Moreover, we discuss the reflex of the Dirac dynamics in the spinor space. In particular, we show that the usual dynamics for massless spinors in the spacetime is related to an incompressible fluid behavior in the spinor space.
We consider a diffusion process on the edges of a finite network and allow for feedback effects between different, possibly non-adjacent edges. This generalizes the setting that is common in the literature, where the only considered interactions take place at the boundary, i. e., in the nodes of the network. We discuss well-posedness of the associated initial value problem as well as contractivity and positivity properties of its solutions. Finally, we discuss qualitative properties that can be formulated in terms of invariance of linear subspaces of the state space, i. e., of symmetries of th…
The concept of quantum commutativity with respect to an action or coaction of a given Hopf algebra is used for the algebraic description of a system of particles and their interaction with certain quantum field. Graded commutativity and particles in singular magnetic field are considered as a particular example of the general formalism. The corresponding statistics and generalized Pauli exclusion principle are also mentioned.
Symmetries of the finite Heisenberg group represent an important tool for the study of deeper structure of finite-dimensional quantum mechanics. As is well known, these symmetries are properly expressed in terms of certain normalizer. This paper extends previous investigations to composite quantum systems consisting of two subsystems - qudits - with arbitrary dimensions n and m. In this paper we present detailed descriptions - in the group of inner automorphisms of GL(nm,C) - of the normalizer of the Abelian subgroup generated by tensor products of generalized Pauli matrices of orders n and m.…
In this paper we present the first steps for obtaining a discrete Quantum Mechanics making use of the Umbral Calculus. The idea is to discretize the continuous Schroedinger equation substituting the continuous derivatives by discrete ones and the space-time continuous variables by well determined operators that verify some Umbral Calculus conditions. In this way we assure that some properties of integrability and symmetries of the continuous equation are preserved and also the solutions of the continuous case can be recovered discretized in a simple way. The case of the Schroedinger equation w…
We have proved on the basis of the symmetry analysis of the standard Dirac equation with nonzero mass that this equation may describe not only fermions of spin 1/2, but also bosons of spin 1. The new bosonic symmetries of the Dirac equation in both the Foldy -- Wouthuysen and the Pauli -- Dirac representations are found. Among these symmetries (together with the 32-dimensional pure matrix algebra of invariance) the new, physically meaningful spin 1 Poincare symmetry of equation under consideration is proved. In order to carry out the corresponding proofs a 64-dimensional extended real Clifford…
We analyze the classical equations of motion for a particle moving in the presence of a static magnetic field applied in the $ z $ direction, which varies as $ {1\over{x^2}} $. We find the symmetries through Lie's method of group analysis. In the corresponding quantum mechanical case, the method of spectrum generating $su(1,1)$ algebra is used to find the energy levels for the Schroedinger equation without explicitly solving the equation. The Lie point symmetries are enumerated. We also find that for specific eigenvalues the vector field contains $ {1\over{x}} {{\p}\over{\p x}}$ and $ {1\over …
The deformed Dirac equation invariant under the $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf quantum algebra in the context of minimal and scalar couplings under spin and pseudospin symmetries limits is considered. The $κ$-deformed Pauli-Dirac Hamiltonian allows us to study effects of quantum deformation in a class of physical systems, such as an Zeeman-like effect, Aharonov-Bohm effect and an anomalous-like contribution to the electron magnetic moment, between others. In our analysis, we consider the motion of an electron in a uniform magnetic field and interacting with (i) a planar harmonic oscillator and (ii) a linea…
We investigate certain $Z_3$-graded associative algebras with cubic $Z_3$-invariant constitutive relations. The invariant forms on finite algebras of this type are given in the low dimensional cases with two or three generators. We show how the Lorentz symmetry represented by the $SL(2, {\bf C})$ group emerges naturally without any notion of Minkowskian metric, just as the invariance group of the $Z_3$-graded cubic algebra and its constitutive relations. Its representation is found in terms of Pauli matrices. The relationship of this construction with the operators defining quark states is als…

The book offers a uniform and relatively simple presentation of a considerable amount of ma…
The Dirac equation with both scalar and vector couplings describing the dynamics of a two-dimensional Dirac oscillator in the cosmic string spacetime is considered. We derive the Dirac-Pauli equation and solve it in the limit of the spin and the pseudo-spin symmetries. We analyze the presence of cylindrical symmetric scalar potentials which allows us to provide analytic solutions for the resultant field equation. By using an appropriate ansatz, we find that the radial equation is a biconfluent Heun-like differential equation. The solution of this equation provides us with more than one express…
