We show that fine domains in $\mathbf{C}$ with the property that they are Euclidean $F_σ$ and $G_δ$, are in fact fine domains of existence for finely holomorphic functions. Moreover \emph{regular} fine domains are also fine domains of existence. Next we show that fine domains such as $\mathbf{C}\setminus \mathbf{Q}$ or $\mathbf{C}\setminus (\mathbf{Q}\times i\mathbf{Q})$, more specifically fine domains $V$ with the properties that their complement contains a non-empty polar set $E$ that is of the first Baire category in its Euclidean closure $K$ and that $(K\setminus E)\subset V$, are NOT fine domains of existence.
We prove that the image of a finely holomorphic map on a fine domain in $\mathbb{C}$ is pluripolar subset of $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. We also discuss the relationship between pluripolar hulls and finely holomorphic function.
We prove an analogue of Sadullaev's theorem concerning the size of the set where a maximal totally real manifold can meet a pluripolar set. The manifold has to be of class C-1 only. This readily leads to a version of Shcherbina's theorem for C-1 functions f that are defined in a neighborhood of certain compact sets K in the complex plane. If the graph of f on K is pluripolar, then f satisfies the Cauchy Riemann equations in the closure of the fine interior of K.
We prove that every bounded finely plurisubharmonic function can be locally (in the pluri-fine topology) written as the difference of two usual plurisubharmonic functions. As a consequence finely plurisubharmonic functions are continuous with respect to the pluri-fine topology. Moreover we show that -infinity sets of finely plurisubharmonic functions are pluripolar, hence graphs of finely holomorphic functions are pluripolar.
A weak and a strong concept of plurifinely plurisubharmonic and plurifinely holomorphic functions are introduced. Strong will imply weak. The weak concept is studied further. A function f is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic if and only if f o h is finely subharmonic for all complex affine-linear maps h. As a consequence, the regularization in the plurifine topology of a pointwise supremum of such functions is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic, and it differs from the pointwise supremum at most on a pluripolar set. Weak plurifine plurisubharmonicity and weak plurifine holomorphy are preser…
The purpose of this article is to investigate the holomorphic vector fields tangent to a real hypersurface in $\mathbb C^2$ vanishing at an infinite type point.
We study holomorphic foliations tangent to singular real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces in compact complex manifolds of complex dimension two. We give some hypotheses to guarantee the existence of dicritical singularities of these objects. As consequence, we give some applications to holomorphic foliations tangent to real-analytic Levi-flat hypersurfaces with singularities in $\mathbb{P}^2$.
We show that there are strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurfaces in $\bC^{n+1}$ that cannot be locally embedded into a sphere in $\bC^{N+1}$ for any $N$. In fact, we show that there are strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurfaces in $\bC^{n+1}$ that cannot be locally embedded into any compact, strictly pseudoconvex, real algebraic hypersurface.

We describe all possibilities of existence of non-elementary proper holomorphic maps between non-hyperbolic Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb C^2$ and the corresponding pairs of domains.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of nondegenerate holomorphic mappings between pseudoellipsoidal real hypersurfaces, and provide an explicit parametrization for the collection of all such mappings (in the situations where they exist).
We show the existence of free dense subgroups, generated by 2 elements, in the holomorphic shear and overshear group of complex-Euklidean space and extend this result to the group of holomorphic automorphisms of Stein manifolds with Density Property, provided there exists a generalized translation. The conjugation operator associated to this generalized translation is hypercyclic on the topological space of holomorphic automorphisms.
Answering all questions---concerning proper holomorphic mappings between generalized Hartogs triangles---posed by Jarnicki and Plfug (First steps in several complex variables: Reinhardt domains, 2008) we characterize the existence of proper holomorphic mappings between generalized Hartogs triangles and give their explicit form. In particular, we completely describe the group of holomorphic automorphisms of such domains and establish rigidity of proper holomorphic self-mappings on them.
We prove that a Morse type codimension one holomorphic foliation is not transverse to a sphere in the complex affine space. Also we characterize the variety of contacts of a linear foliation with concentric spheres.
Let $(ϕ_t)$ be a semigroup of holomorphic self-maps of~$\mathbb D$. In this note, we use an abstract approach to define the Königs function of $(ϕ_t)$ and "holomorphic models" and show how to deduce the existence and properties of the infinitesimal generator of $(ϕ_t)$ from this construction.
We characterize the existence of proper holomorphic mappings in the special class of bounded $(1,2,...,n)$-balanced domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, called the symmetrized ellipsoids. Using this result we conclude that there are no non-trivial proper holomorphic self-mappings in the class of symmetrized ellipsoids. We also describe the automorphism groupof these domains.
Let $X=U/K$ be a compact Hermitian symmetric space, and let $\sE$ be a $U$-homogeneous Hermitian vector bundle on $X$. In a previous paper, we showed that the space of nearly holomorphic sections is well-adapted for harmonic analysis in $L^2(X,\sE)$ provided that non-trivial nearly holomorphic sections do exist. Here we investigate the problem of extending local nearly holomorphic sections to global ones and prove the existence of non-trivial nearly holomorphic sections. This extends the results on the $U$-type decomposition of $L^2(X,\sE)$ from our previous paper.
In this paper, we study the existence of a complete holomorphic vector fields on a strongly pseudoconvex complex manifold admitting a negatively curved complete Kähler-Einstein metric and a discrete sequence of automorphisms. Using the method of potential scaling, we will show that there is a potential function of the Kähler-Einstein metric whose differential has a constant length. Then we will construct a complete holomorphic vector field from the gradient vector field of the potential function.
We present a result on existence of some kind of peak functions for $\C$-convex domains and for the symmetrized polydisc. Then we apply the latter result to show the equivariance of the set of peak points for $A(D)$ under proper holomorphic mappings. Additionally, we present a description of the set of peak points in the class of bounded pseudoconvex Reinhardt domains.
This paper stresses the strong link between the existence of partial holomorphic connections on the normal bundle of a foliation seen as a quotient of the ambient tangent bundle and the extendability of a foliation to an infinitesimal neighborhood of a submanifold. We find the obstructions to extendability and thanks to the theory developed we obtain some new Khanedani-Lehmann-Suwa type index theorems.
Given a pseudoconvex domain D in C^N, N>1, we prove that there is a holomorphic function f on D such that the lengths of paths p: [0,1]--> D along which Re f is bounded above, with p(0) fixed, grow arbitrarily fast as p(1)--> bD. A consequence is the existence of a complete closed complex hypersurface M in D such that the lengths of paths p:[0,1]--> M, with p(0) fixed, grow arbitrarily fast as p(1)-->bD.
Let $u$ be a plurisubharmonic function. We prove the existence of a nonzero holomorphic function such that the logarithm of its modulus is not more than local averages of this function $u$. This is the abstract for scientific conference "Algebra, Analysis and Related Problems of Mathematical Modeling" (Vladikavkaz, June 26-27, 2015) dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Vladimir A. Let M be a simply-connected complete Kahler manifold whose sectional curvature is bounded between two negative numbers. In this paper we prove the existence of non-constant bounded holomorphic functions on M if the complex dimension of M is greater or equal to three. Our proof uses bounded plurisubharmonic exhaustion functions, the Cauchy-Riemann equations and uniform Holder estimates for CR functions on geodesic spheres.
Let H be the space of quaternions, with its standard hypercomplex structure. Let R(D) be the module of regular functions on D. For every unitary vector p in S^2, R(D) contains the space of holomorphic functions w.r.t. the complex structure J_p induced by p. We prove the existence, on any bounded domain D, of regular functions that are not J_p-holomorphic for any p. Our starting point is a result of Chen and Li concerning maps between hyperkaehler manifolds, where a similar result is obtained for a less restricted class of quaternionic maps. We give a criterion, based on the energy-minimizing p…
The existence problem for vector bundles on a smooth compact complex surface consists in determining which topological complex vector bundles admit holomorphic structures. For projective surfaces, Schwarzenberger proved that a topological complex vector bundle admits a holomorphic (algebraic) structure if and only if its first Chern class belongs to the Neron-Severi group of the surface. In contrast, for non-projective surfaces there is only a necessary condition for the existence problem (the discriminant of the vector bundles must be positive) and the difficulty of the problem resides in the…
By using asymptotic Morse inequalities we give a lower bound for the space of holomorphic sections of high tensor powers in a positive line bundle over a q-concave domain. The curvature of the positive bundle induces a hermitian metric on the manifold. The bound is given explicitely in terms of the volume of the domain in this metric and a certain integral on the boundary involving the defining function and its Levi form. As application we study the perturbattion of the complex structure of a q-concave manifold.
We consider a problem of whether a property of holomorphic curves on a subset $X$ of the complex plane can be extended to the whole complex plane. In this paper, the property we consider is uniqueness of holomorphic curves. We introduce the propagation set. Simply speaking, $X$ is a propagation set if linear relation of holomorphic curves on the part of preimage of hyperplanes contained in $X$ can be extended to the whole complex plane. If the holomorphic curves are of infinite order, we prove the existence of a propagation set which is the union of a sequence of disks (In fact, the method app…
We prove the existence and the essential uniqueness of canonical models for the forward (resp. backward) iteration of a holomorphic self-map $f$ of a cocompact Kobayashi hyperbolic complex manifold, such as the ball $\mathbb{B}^q$ or the polydisc $Δ^q$. This is done performing a time-dependent conjugacy of the dynamical system $(f^n)$, obtaining in this way a non-autonomous dynamical system admitting a relatively compact forward (resp. backward) orbit, and then proving the existence of a natural complex structure on a suitable quotient of the direct limit (resp. subset of the inverse limit). A…
We prove the existence of a pair $(Σ,\, Γ)$, where $Σ$ is a compact Riemann surface with $\text{genus}(Σ)\, \geq\, 2$, and $Γ\, \subset\, {\mathrm SL}(2, \mathbb C)$ is a cocompact lattice, such that there is a generically injective holomorphic map $Σ\, \longrightarrow\, {\mathrm SL}(2, \mathbb C)/Γ$. This gives an affirmative answer to a question raised by Huckleberry and Winkelmann \cite{HW} and by Ghys \cite{Gh}.
In this paper, the linear structure of the family $H_e(G)$ of holomorphic functions in a domain $G$ of the complex plane that are not analytically continuable beyond the boundary of $G$ is analyzed. We prove that $H_e(G)$ contains, except for zero, a dense algebra; and, under appropriate conditions, the subfamily of $H_e(G)$ consisting of boundary-regular functions contains dense vector spaces with maximal dimension, as well as infinite dimensional closed vector spaces and large algebras. The case in which $G$ is a domain of existence in a complex Banach space is also considered. The results o…
Let $f$ be the infinitesimal generator of a one-parameter semigroup $\left\{ F_{t}\right\} _{t\ge0}$ of holomorphic self-mappings of the open unit disk $Δ$. In this paper we study properties of the family $R$ of resolvents $(I+rf)^{-1}:Δ\toΔ~ (r\ge0)$ in the spirit of geometric function theory. We discovered, in particular, that $R$ forms an inverse Löwner chain of hyperbolically convex functions. Moreover, each element of $R$ satisfies the Noshiro-Warschawski condition and is a starlike function of order at least $\frac12$,. This, in turn, implies that each element of $R$ is also a holomorphi…
Given a fixed-point free compact holomorphic self-map $f$ on a bounded symmetric domain $D$, which may be infinite dimensional, we establish the existence of a family $\{H(ξ, λ)\}_{λ>0}$ of convex $f$-invariant domains at a point $ξ$ in the boundary $\partial D$ of $D$, which generalises completely Wolff's theorem for the open unit disc in $\mathbb{C}$. Further, we construct horoballs at $ξ$ and show that they are exactly the $f$-invariant domains when $D$ is of finite rank. Consequently, we show in the latter case that the limit functions of the iterates $(f^n)$ with weakly closed range all a…
The existence problem for holomorphic structures on vector bundles over non-algebraic surfaces is in general still open. We solve this problem in the case of rank 2 vector bundles over K3 surfaces and in the case of vector bundles of arbitrary rank over all known surfaces of class VII. Our methods, which are based on Donaldson theory and deformation theory, can be used to solve the existence problem of holomorphic vector bundles on further classes of non-algebraic surfaces.
We give a complete solution to the existence of isochronous center families for holomorphic dynamical systems. The study of center families for n-dimensional holomorphic dynamical systems naturally leads to the study of (n-1)-dimensional Briot-Bouquet systems in the phase space. We first give a detailed study of the Briot-Bouquet systems. Then we show the existence of isochronous center families in the neighborhood of the equilibrium point of three-dimensional systems based on the two-dimensional Briot-Bouquet theory. The same approach works in arbitrary dimensions.
Let X be a complex curve, $X_{sa}$ the subanalytic site associated to X, M a holonomic $D_X$-module. Let $O^t$ be the sheaf on $X_{sa}$ of tempered holomorphic functions, Sol(M) (resp. $Sol^t$(M)) the complex of holomorphic (resp. tempered holomorphic) solutions of M. We prove that the natural morphism from $H^1 Sol^t$(M) to $H^1$Sol(M) is an isomorphism of sheaves on $X_{sa}$. As a consequence, we prove that $Sol^t$(M) is R-constructible in the sense of sheaves on $X_{sa}$. Such a result is conjectured by M. Kashiwara and P. Schapira in Astérisque 284 in any dimension.
We present a new connection between the Hele-Shaw flow, also known as two-dimensional (2D) Laplacian growth, and the theory of holomorphic discs with boundary contained in a totally real submanifold. Using this we prove short time existence and uniqueness of the Hele-Shaw flow with varying permeability both when starting from a single point and also starting from a smooth Jordan domain. Applying the same ideas we prove that the moduli space of smooth quadrature domains is a smooth manifold whose dimension we also calculate, and we give a local existence theorem for the inverse potential proble…
For every integer $g \,\geq\, 2$ we show the existence of a compact Riemann surface $Σ$ of genus $g$ such that the rank two trivial holomorphic vector bundle ${\mathcal O}^{\oplus 2}_Σ$ admits holomorphic connections with $\text{SL}(2,{\mathbb R})$ monodromy and maximal Euler class. Such a monodromy representation is known to coincide with the Fuchsian uniformizing representation for some Riemann surface of genus $g$. The construction carries over to all very stable and compatible real holomorphic structures for the topologically trivial rank two bundle over $Σ$ and gives the existence of holo…
We investigate the relation between holomorphic torus actions on complex manifolds of LCK type and the existence of special LCK metrics. We show that if the group of biholomorphisms of such a manifold $(M,J)$ contains a non-real compact torus, then there exists a Vaisman metric on the manifold. Moreover, we show that if the group of biholomorphisms contains a compact torus whose dimension is half the real dimension of $M$, then $(M,J)$ admits an LCK metric with positive potential. As an application, we obtain a classification of manifolds of LCK type among all the manifolds having the structur…
A holomorphic Engel structure determines a flag of distributions $\mathcal{W}\subset \mathcal{D}\subset \mathcal{E}$. We construct examples of Engel structures on $\mathbf{C}^4$ such that each of these distributions is hyperbolic in the sense that it has no tangent copies of $\mathbf{C}$. We also construct two infinite families of pairwise non-isomorphic Engel structures on $\mathbf{C}^4$ by controlling the curves $f:\mathbf{C}\to \mathbf{C}^4$ tangent to $\mathcal{W}$. The first is characterised by the topology of the set of points in $\mathbf{C}^4$ admitting $\mathcal{W}$-lines, and the seco…
Inspired by an article of R. Bryant on holomorphic immersions of unit disks into Lorentzian CR manifolds, we discuss the application of Cartan's method to the question of the existence of bi-disk $\mathbb{D}^{2}$ in a smooth $9$-dimensional real analytic real hypersurface $M^{9}\subset\mathbb{C}^{5}$ with Levi signature $(2,2)$ passing through a fixed point. The result is that the lift to $M^{9}\times U(2)$ of the image of the bi-disk in $M^{9}$ must lie in the zero set of two complex-valued functions in $M^{9}\times U(2)$. We then provide an example where one of the functions does not identic…
We show that a pseudo-holomorphic embedding of an almost-complex $2n$-manifold into almost-complex $(2n + 2)$-Euclidean space exists if and only if there is a CR regular embedding of the $2n$-manifold into complex $(n + 1)$-space. We remark that the fundamental group does not place any restriction on the existence of either kind of embedding when $n$ is at least three. We give necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of characteristic classes for a closed almost-complex 6-manifold to admit a pseudo-holomorphic embedding into $\R^8$ equipped with an almost-complex structure that need not be…
In this paper, we consider a special relative Kähler fibration that satisfies a homogenous Monge-Ampère equation, which is called a Monge-Ampère fibration. There exist two canonical types of generalized Weil-Petersson metrics on the base complex manifold of the fibration. For the second generalized Weil-Petersson metric, we obtain an explicit curvature formula and prove that the holomorphic bisectional curvature is non-positive, the holomorphic sectional curvature, the Ricci curvature, and the scalar curvature are all bounded from above by a negative constant. For a holomorphic vector bundle o…
