Let X be a complex curve, $X_{sa}$ the subanalytic site associated to X, M a holonomic $D_X$-module. Let $O^t$ be the sheaf on $X_{sa}$ of tempered holomorphic functions, Sol(M) (resp. $Sol^t$(M)) the complex of holomorphic (resp. tempered holomorphic) solutions of M. We prove that the natural morphism from $H^1 Sol^t$(M) to $H^1$Sol(M) is an isomorphism of sheaves on $X_{sa}$. As a consequence, we prove that $Sol^t$(M) is R-constructible in the sense of sheaves on $X_{sa}$. Such a result is conjectured by M. Kashiwara and P. Schapira in Astérisque 284 in any dimension.
Let $X$ be a complex analytic curve. In this paper we prove that the subanalytic sheaf of tempered holomorphic solutions of $\mathcal D_X$-modules induces a fully faithful functor on a subcategory of germs of formal holonomic $\mathcal D_X$-modules. Further, given a germ $\mathcal M$ of holonomic $\mathcal D_X$-module, we obtain some results linking the subanalytic sheaf of tempered solutions of $\mathcal M$ and the classical formal and analytic invariants of $\mathcal M$.
In this paper we prove the constructibility on the subanalytic sites of the sheaves of tempered holomorphic solutions of holonomic D-modules on complex analytic manifolds. Such a result solves a conjecture of M. Kashiwara and P. Schapira (2003).
In this paper we prove the preconstructibility of the complex of tempered holomorphic solutions of holonomic D-modules on complex analytic manifolds. This implies the finiteness of such complex on any relatively compact open subanalytic subset of a complex analytic manifold. Such a result is an essential step for proving a conjecture of M. Kashiwara and P. Schapira (2003) on the constructibility of such complex.
This paper is an attempt to give some general results on the tempered fundamental group of a $p$-adic smooth algebraic varieties (which is a sort of analog of the topologic fundamental group of complex algebraic varieties in the p-adic world). The main result asserts that one can recover the metric structure of the graph of the stable model of a Mumford curve from the tempered fundamental group of this Mumford curve. We will also prove birational invariance, invariance by algebraically closed extensions and a Kuenneth formula for the tempered fundamental group. We will describe the tempered fu…
We show that the Hodge filtration of a tempered Hodge module is generated by the lowest piece of its Hodge filtration. As a consequence, we prove the main conjecture of [SV] in the special case of tempered representations of real reductive Lie groups.
We characterize the tempered part of the automorphic Langlands category D-mod(Bun_G) using the geometry of the big cell in the affine Grassmannian. We deduce that, for $G$ non-abelian, tempered D-modules have no de Rham cohomology with compact supports. The latter fact boils down to a concrete statement, which we prove using the Ran space and some explicit t-structure estimates: for $G$ non-abelian and $Σ$ a smooth affine curve, the Borel-Moore homology of the indscheme $Maps(Σ,G)$ vanishes.
The tempered fundamental group of a p-adic analytic space classifies coverings that are dominated by a topological covering (for the Berkovich topology) of a finite etale covering of the space. Here we construct cospecialization homomorphisms between (p') versions of the tempered fundamental groups of the fibers of a smooth family of curves with semistable reduction. To do so, we will translate our problem in terms of cospecialization morphisms of fundamental groups of the log fibers of the log reduction. In particular, we will have to study invariance of the geometric log fundamental group of…
Let $f:X\to Y$ be a smooth morphism of complex analytic manifolds and let $F$ be an $\mathbb{R}$-constructible complex on $Y$. Let $\cal{M}$ be a coherent $\shd_X$-module. We prove that the microsupport of the solution complex of $\shm$ in the tempered holomorphic functions $t \shh \text{om} (f^{-1} F, \sho_X)$, is contained in the 1-characteristic variety of $\cal{M}$ associated to $f$, and that the microsupport of the solution complex in the tempered microfunctions $tμhom(f^{-1}F, \sho_X)$ is contained in the 1-microcharacteristic variety of the microlocalized of $\shm$ along $T^*Y\times_Y X…
Given a Mumford curve $X$ over $\bar{\mathbb Q_p}$, we show that for every semistable model $\mathcal X$ of $X$ and every closed point $x$ of this semistable model, there exists a finite étale cover $Y$ of $X$ such that every semistable model of $Y$ has a vertical component above $X$. We then give applications of this to the tempered fundamental group. In particular, we prove that two punctured Tate curves $\bar{\mathbb Q_p}$ with isomorphic tempered fundamental groups are isomorphic over $\mathbb Q_p$.
For a complex manifold $X$ the ring of microdifferential operators $\E_X$ acts on the microlocalization $μhom(F,Ø_X)$, for $F$ in the derived category of sheaves on $X$. Kashiwara, Schapira, Ivorra, Waschkies proved, as a byproduct of their new microlocalization functor for ind-sheaves, $μ_X$, that $μhom(F,Ø_X)$ can in fact be defined as an object of the derived category of $\E_X$-modules: this follows from the fact that $μ_X Ø_X$ is concentrated in one degree. In this paper we prove that the tempered microlocalization also is an object of the derived category of $\E_X$-modules. Since we don't…
Recently, the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence was generalized in the context of general holonomic D-modules by A. D'Agnolo and M. Kashiwara. Namely, they proved that their enhanced de Rham functor gives a fully faithfully embedding of the derived category of cohomologically holonomic complexes of D-modules into the derived category of complexes of real constructible enhanced ind-sheaves. In this paper, we study a condition when a complex of real constructible enhanced ind-sheaves $K$ is induced by a cohomologically holonomic complex of D-modules. We characterize such $K$ in terms of the restric…
Let X be a complex manifold. The classical Riemann-Hilbert correspondence associates to a regular holonomic system M the C-constructible complex of its holomorphic solutions. Denote by t the affine coordinate in the complex projective line. If M is not necessarily regular, we associate to it the ind-R-constructible complex G of tempered holomorphic solutions to the exterior product of M with the D-module associated with the exponential e^t. We conjecture that this provides a Riemann-Hilbert correspondence for holonomic systems. We discuss the functoriality of this correspondence, we prove that…
We describe the Alexander modules and Alexander polynomials (both over $\Q$ and over finite fields $\FF{p}$) of generalized trigonal curves. The rational case is closed completely; in the case of characteristic $p>0$, a few points remain open.
We identify several classes of curves $C:f=0$, for which the Hilbert vector of the Jacobian module $N(f)$ can be completely determined, namely the 3-syzygy curves, the maximal Tjurina curves and the nodal curves, having only rational irreducible components. A result due to Hartshorne, on the cohomology of some rank 2 vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^2$, is used to get a sharp lower bound for the initial degree of the Jacobian module $N(f)$, under a semistability condition.
Simpson, in 1994, introduced the notion of $Λ$-modules and constructed the corresponding moduli space, where $Λ$ is a sheaf of rings of differential operators. Higgs bundles, connections and $λ$-connections (as defined by Delgine) are particular cases of $Λ$-modules. In this article the concept of parabolic $Λ$-modules over a curve is introduced and their moduli space is built. As an application, we construct the parabolic Hodge moduli space parameterizing parabolic $λ$-connections.
We complete the enumeration of the possible roots of the Alexander polynomial (both conventional and over finite fields) of a trigonal curve. The curves are not assumed proper or irreducible.
In this paper we study noncommutative plane curves, i.e. non-commutative k-algebras for which the 1-dimensional simple modules form a plane curve. We study extensions of simple modules and we try to enlighten the completion problem, i.e. understanding the connection between simple modules of different dimension.
In this paper we study a correspondence between cyclic modules over the first Weyl algebra and planar algebraic curves in positive characteristic. In particular, we show that any such curve has a preimage under a morphism of certain ind-schemes. This property might pave the way for an indirect proof of existence of a canonical isomorphism between the group of algebra automorphisms of the first Weyl algebra over the field complex numbers and the group of polynomial symplectomorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^2$.
We describe the 0-th Fitting ideal of the Jacobian module of a plane curve in terms of determinants involving the Jacobian syzygies of this curve. This leads to new characterizations of maximal Tjurina curves, that is of non free plane curves, whose global Tjurina number equals an upper bound given by A. du Plessis and C.T.C. Wall.
Let $\mathcal V$ be a discrete valuation ring of mixed characteristic with perfect residue field. Let $X$ be a geometrically connected smooth proper curve over $\mathcal V$. We introduce the notion of constructible convergent $\nabla$-module on the analytification $X_{K}^{\mathrm{an}}$ of the generic fibre of $X$. A constructible module is an $\mathcal O_{X_{K}^{\mathrm{an}}}$-module which is not necessarily coherent, but becomes coherent on a stratification by locally closed subsets of the special fiber $X_{k}$ of $X$. The notions of connection, of (over-) convergence and of Frobenius structu…
Extending results for space curves we establish bounds for the cohomology of a non-degenerate curve in projective $n$-space. As a consequence, for any given $n$ we determine all possible pairs $(d, g)$ where $d$ is the degree and $g$ is the (arithmetic) genus of the curve. Furthermore, we show that curves attaining our bounds always exist and describe properties of these extremal curves. In particular, we determine the Hartshorne-Rao module, the generic initial ideal and the graded Betti numbers of an extremal curve.
The goal of the paper is to show that the (derived) category of D-modules on the stack Bun_G(X) is compactly generated. Here X is a smooth complete curve, and G is a reductive group. The problem is that Bun_G(X) is not quasi-compact, so the above compact generation is not automatic. The proof is based on the following observation: Bun_G(X) can be written as a union of quasi-compact open substacks, which are "co-truncative", i.e., the j_! extension functor is defined on the entire category of D-modules.
We explain the correspondences between twisted monopoles with Dirac type singularity and polystable twisted mini-holomorphic bundles with Dirac type singularity on a 3-dimensional torus. We also explain that they are equivalent to polystable parabolic twisted difference modules on elliptic curves.
In this paper, from an arbitrary smooth projective curve of genus at least two, we construct a non-Gorenstein Cohen-Macaulay normal domain and a nonfree totally reflexive module over it.
In 2003, Kedlaya gave an algorithm to compute the zeta function associated to a hyperelliptic curve over a finite field, by computing the rigid cohomology of the curve. Edixhoven remarked that it is actually possible to compute the crystalline cohomology of the curve, which is a lattice in the rigid cohomology. Following a method of Wach, we first explain how to use this lattice to compute the $(φ,Γ)$-module associated to an hyperelliptic curve. We also explain an alternative way to get the $(φ,Γ)$-module mod $p$ that relies on the Deligne-Illusie morphism.
Let $N$ be a point of an orbit closure $\bar{O_M}$ in a module variety such that its orbit $O_N$ has codimension two in $\bar{O_M}$. We show that under some additional conditions the pointed variety $(\bar{O_M},N)$ is smoothly equivalent to a cone over a rational normal curve.
Given an holomorphic Higgs bundle on a compact Riemann surface of genus greater than one, we construct a DQ-module supported by the spectral curve associated to this bundle. Then, we relate quantum curves arising in various situations (quantization of spectral curves of Higgs Bundles, quantization of the $A$-polynomial...) and DQ-modules and show that DQ-modules provide a suitable framework to study the quantization of spectral curves.
Let $X$ be a complex manifold. In "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity", M. Kashiwara e P. Schapira made the conjecture that a holonomic D-module $\shm$ is regular holonomic if and only if $R\mathcal{I}{hom}_{β_X\shd_X}(β_X\shm,\sho_X^t)$ is regular (in the sense of "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity"), the "only if" part of this conjecture following immediately from "Microlocal study of Ind-sheaves I: microsupport and regularity". Our aim is to prove this conjecture in dimension one.
We extend the geometric approach to vertex algebras developed by the first author to twisted modules, allowing us to treat orbifold models in conformal field theory. Let $V$ be a vertex algebra, $H$ a finite group of automorphisms of $V$, and $C$ an algebraic curve such that $H \subset \on{Aut}(C)$. We show that a suitable collection of twisted $V$--modules gives rise to a section of a certain sheaf on the quotient $X=C/H$. We introduce the notion of conformal blocks for twisted modules, and analyze them in the case of the Heisenberg and affine Kac-Moody vertex algebras. We also give a chiral …
We study the difference between the lengths of the torsion of the differential modules of the local ring R of an algebroid curve and its first quadratic transform. The conjecture is that this difference should be positive if R is not regular. This is shown to be true in some cases, especially for stable complete intersections and for semigroup rings which are complete intersections.
We study intersection theory on the relative Hilbert scheme of a family of nodal-or-smooth curves, over a base of arbitrary dimension. We introduce an additive group called 'discriminant module', generated by diagonal loci, node scrolls, and twists thereof, and determine the action of the discriminant or big diagonal divisor on this group by intersection. We show that this suffices to determine arbitrary polynomials in Chern classes, in particular Chern numbers, for the tautological vector bundles on the Hilbert schemes, which are closely related to enumerative geometry. The latest version inc…
Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, and let $A = k[x,y]/(f)$ be a quasi-homogeneous plane curve. We show that for any graded torsion free A-module M, there exists a natural graded integrable connection, i.e. a graded A-linear homomorphism $\nabla: \operatorname{Der}_k(A) \to \operatorname{End}_k(M)$ that satisfy the derivation property and preserves the Lie product. In particular, a torsion free module N over the complete local ring $B = \hat A$ admits a natural integrable connection if A is a simple curve singularity, or if A is irreducible and N is a gradable module.
Let $k$ be a field of characteristic 0 and $\mathcal{A}$ a curved $k$-algebra. We obtain a Chern-Weil-type formula for the Chern character of a perfect $\mathcal{A}$-module taking values in $HN_0^{II}(\mathcal{A})$, the negative cyclic homology of the second kind associated to $\mathcal{A}$, when $\mathcal{A}$ satisfies a certain smoothness condition.
Consider a field $k$ of characteristic $0$, not necessarily algebraically closed, and a fixed algebraic curve $f=0$ defined by a tame polynomial $f\in k[x,y]$ with only quasi-homogeneous singularities. We prove that the space of holomorphic foliations in the plane ${mathbb A}^2_\k$ having $f=0$ as a fixed invariant curve is generated as $k[x,y]$-module by at most four elements, three of them are the trivial foliations $fdx, fdy$ and $df$. Our proof is algorithmic and constructs the fourth foliation explicitly. Using Serre's GAGA and Quillen-Suslin theorem, we show that for a suitable field exte…
We apply the theory of Groebner bases to the computation of free resolutions over a polynomial ring, the defining equations of a canonically embedded curve, and the unirationality of the moduli space of curves of a fixed genus.
There is a conjecture, that the torsionfreeness of the module of differentials in a point of an algebraic or algebroid curve should imply that the curve is non singular at that point. A report on the main results is given.
In this article, we study Cohen-Macaulay modules over non-reduced curve singularities. We prove that the rings $k[[x,y,z]]/(xy, y^q -z^2)$ have tame Cohen-Macaulay representation type. For the singularity $k[[x,y,z]]/(xy, z^2)$ we give an explicit description of all indecomposable Cohen--Macaulay modules and apply the obtained classification to construct explicit families of indecomposable matrix factorizations of $(xy)^2 \in k[[x,y]]$.
Let q>1 denote an integer relatively prime to 2,3,7 and for which G=PSL(2,q) is a Hurwitz group for a smooth projective curve X defined over C. We compute the G-module structure of the Riemann-Roch space L(D), where D is an invariant divisor on X of positive degree. This depends on a computation of the ramification module, which we give explicitly. In particular, we obtain the decomposition of H^1(X,C) as a G-module.
This is a continuation of our study of the foundations of D-branes from the viewpoint of Grothendieck in the region of the related Wilson's theory-space where "branes" are still branes. In this work, we focus on D-strings and construct the moduli stack of morphisms from Azumaya prestable curves $C^{Az}$ with a fundamental module ${\cal E}$ to a fixed target $Y$ of a given combinatorial type. Such a morphism gives a prototype for a Wick-rotated D-string of B-type on $Y$, following the Polchinski-Grothendieck Ansatz, and this stack serves as a ground toward a mathematical theory of topological D…
Rank-2 Drinfeld modules are a function-field analogue of elliptic curves, and the purpose of this paper is to investigate similarities and differences between rank-2 Drinfeld modules and elliptic curves in terms of supersingularity. Specifically, we provide an explicit formula of a supersingular polynomial for rank-2 Drinfeld modules and prove several basic properties. As an application, we give a numerical example of an asymptotically optimal tower of Drinfeld modular curves.
We describe a method for doing computations with Orlov's equivalence between the bounded derived category of certain hypersurfaces and the stable category of graded matrix factorisations of the polynomials describing these hypersurfaces. In the case of a smooth elliptic curve over an algebraically closed field we describe the indecomposable graded matrix factorisations of rank one. Since every indecomposable Maximal Cohen-Macaulay module over the completion of a smooth cubic curve is gradable, we obtain explicit descriptions of all indecomposable rank one matrix factorisations of such potentia…
In this paper we characterize the value set $Δ$ of the $R$-modules of the form $R+zR$ for the local ring $R$ associated to a germ $ξ$ of an irreducible plane curve singularity with one Puiseux pair. In the particular case of the module of Kähler differentials attached to $ξ$, we recover some results of Delorme. From our characterization of $Δ$ we introduce a proper subset of semimodules over the value semigroup of the ring $R$. Moreover, we provide a geometric algorithm to construct all possible semimodules in this subset for a given value semigroup.
Let $A$ be a noetherian ring and $R_A$ be the graded ring $A[X,Y,Z,T]$. In this article we introduce the notion of a triad, which is a generalization to families of curves in ${\bf P}^3_A$ of the notion of Rao module. A triad is a complex of graded $R_A$-modules $(L_1 \to L_0 \to L_{-1})$ with certain finiteness hypotheses on its cohomology modules. A pseudo-isomorphism between two triads is a morphism of complexes which induces an isomorphism on the functors $ h_0 (L\otimes .)$ and a monomorphism on the functors $h_{-1} (L\otimes .)$. One says that two triads are pseudo-isomorphic if they are…
We show that the arithmetic D-module associated to an overconvergent F-isocrystal over a smooth curve is holonomic. We first prove that unipotent F-isocrystals are holonomic D-module by using the fact that such F-isocrystals come from logarithmic F-isocrystals. We deduce the general case from the semi-stable theorem for F-isocrystals over curves of Matsuda-Trihan which relies on the p-adic monodromy theorem independently proved by André, Kedlaya and Mebkhout. The main result has already been proved by D. Caro.
We generalize the construction of geometric superpolynomials for unibranch plane curve singularities from our prior paper from rank one to any ranks. The new feature is the definition of counterparts of Jacobian factors (directly related to compactified Jacobians) for higher ranks, which is parallel to the classical passage from invertible bundles to vector bundles over algebraic curves. This is an entirely local theory, connected with affine Springer fibers for non-reduced (germs of) spectral curves. We conjecture and justify numerically the connection of our geometric polynomials in arbitrar…
We apply Orlov's equivalence to derive formulas for the Betti numbers of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over the cone an elliptic curve $(E,x)$ embedded into $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$, by the full linear system $|\mathcal{O}(nx)|$, for $n>3$. The answers are given in terms of recursive sequences. These results are applied to give a criterion of (Co-)Koszulity. In the last two sections of the paper we apply our methods to study the cases $n=1,2$. Geometrically these cases correspond to the embedding of an elliptic curve into a weighted projective space. The singularities of the corresponding cones are…
In this paper, we show an inequality between the degrees of the conductor and the Hodge fiber of a hyperelliptic curve above a discrete valuation ring. For that we have to show theorems about the lifting of $p$-cyclic covers in order to obtain informations on the edge of the moduli space of hyperelliptic stable curves. The inequality then comes from the geometry of this last space.
Given a Galois cover of curves over $\mathbb{F}_p$, we relate the $p$-adic valuation of epsilon constants appearing in functional equations of Artin L-functions to an equivariant Euler characteristic. Our main theorem generalises a result of Chinburg from the tamely to the weakly ramified case. We furthermore apply Chinburg's result to obtain a `weak' relation in the general case. In the Appendix, we study, in this arbitrarily wildly ramified case, the integrality of $p$-adic valuations of epsilon constants.
We show that the degree of the Alexander polynomial of an irreducible plane algebraic curve with nodes and cusps as the only singularities does not exceed ${5 \over 3}d-2$ where $d$ is the degree of the curve. We also show that the Alexander polynomial $Δ_C(t)$ of an irreducible curve $C=\{F=0\}\subset \mathbb P^2$ whose singularities are nodes and cusps is non-trivial if and only if there exist homogeneous polynomials $f$, $g$, and $h$ such that $f^3+g^2+Fh^6=0$. This is obtained as a consequence of the correspondence, described here, between Alexander polynomials and ranks of Mordell-Weil gr…
To every covering of curves, we associate several varieties having the same field of moduli and same fields of definition. We deduce examples of curves having Q (the field of rationals) as field of moduli, that admit models over any completion of Q but no model over Q.
In this paper we describe the compactification of the Drinfeld modular curve. This compactification is analogous to the compactification of the classical modular curve given by Katz and Mazur. We show how the Weil pairing on Drinfeld modules that we defined in earlier work gives rise to a map on the Drinfeld modular curve. We introduce the Tate-Drinfeld module and show how this describes the formal neighbourhood of the scheme of cusps of the Drinfeld modular curve.
We discuss many analogy points with the elliptic curves. more precisely, we study the characteristic polynomial of a Drinfeld module of rank 2 and use it to calculate the number of isogeny classes for such modules.
