We present a stable uniqueness theorem for non-unital C*-algebras. Generalized tracial rank one is defined for stably projectionless simple C*-algebras. Let $A$ and $B$ be two stably projectionless separable simple amenable C*-algebras with $gTR(A)\le 1$and $gTR(B)\le 1.$ Suppose also that $KK(A, D)=KK(B,D)=\{0\}$ for all C*-algebras $D.$ Then $A\cong B$ if and only if they have the same tracial cones with scales. We also show that every separable simple C*-algebra, $A$ with finite nuclear dimension which satisfies the UCT with non-zero traces must have $gTR(A)\le 1$ if $K_0(A)$ is torsion. In the next part of this research, we show similar results without the restriction on $K$-theory.
We show, based on previous results, that two separable simple stably projectionless amenable ${\cal Z}$-stable $C^*$-algebras which satisfy the UCT are isomorphic if and only if they have the same Elliott invariant.
A classification theorem is obtained for a class of unital simple separable amenable Z-stable C*-algebras which exhausts all possible values of the Elliott invariant for unital stably finite simple separable amenable Z-stable C*-algebras. Moreover, it contains all unital simple separable amenable C*-algebras which satisfy the UCT and have finite rational tracial rank
Following Elliott's earlier work, we show that the Elliott invariant of any finite separable simple $C^*$-algebra with finite nuclear dimension can always be described as a scaled simple ordered group pairing together with a countable abelian group which unifies the unital and nonunital, as well as stably projectionless cases. We also show that, for any given such invariant set, there is a finite separable simple $C^*$-algebra, whose Elliott invariant is the given set, a refinement of the range theorem of Elliott in the stable case. In the stably projectionless case, modified model $C^*$-algeb…
We present a classification theorem for amenable simple stably projectionless C*-algebras with generalized tracial rank one whose $K_0$ vanish on traces which satisfy the Universal Coefficient Theorem. One of them is denoted by ${\cal Z}_0$ which has a unique tracial state and $K_0({\cal Z}_0)=\mathbb{Z}$ and $K_1({\cal Z}_0)=\{0\}.$ Let $A$ and $B$ be two separable simple $C^*$-algebras satisfying the UCT and have finite nuclear dimension. We show that $A\otimes {\cal Z}_0\cong B\otimes {\cal Z}_0$ if and only if ${\rm Ell}(B\otimes {\cal Z}_0)={\rm Ell}(B\otimes {\cal Z}_0).$ A class of simp…
It is shown that if A is a separable, exact C*-algebra which satisfies the Universal Coefficient Theorem (UCT) and has a faithful, amenable trace, then A admits a trace-preserving embedding into a simple, unital AF-algebra with unique trace. Modulo the UCT, this provides an abstract characterization of C*-subalgebras of simple, unital AF-algebras. As a consequence, for a countable, discrete, amenable group G acting on a second countable, locally compact, Hausdorff space X, C_0(X) \rtimes_r G embeds into a simple, unital AF-algebra if, and only if, X admits a faithful, invariant, Borel, probabi…
We study actions of countable discrete amenable groups on unital separable simple nuclear Z-absorbing C*-algebras. Under a certain assumption on tracial states, which is automatically satisfied in the case of a unique tracial state, the crossed product is shown to absorb the Jiang-Su algebra Z tensorially.
A class of $C^*$-algebras, to be called those of generalized tracial rank one, is introduced, and classified by the Elliott invariant. A second class of unital simple separable amenable $C^*$-algebras, those whose tensor products with UHF-algebras of infinite type are in the first class, to be referred to as those of rational generalized tracial rank one, is proved to exhaust all possible values of the Elliott invariant for unital finite simple separable amenable ${\cal Z}$-stable $C^*$-algebras. An isomorphism theorem for a special sub-class of those $C^*$-algebras are presented. This provide…
In this paper, we introduce actions of fusion algebras on unital $C^*$-algebras, and define amenability for fusion algebraic actions. Motivated by S.\ Neshveyev et al.'s work, considering the co-representation ring of a compact quantum group as a fusion algebra, we define the canonical fusion algebraic (for short, CFA) form of a discrete quantum group action on a compact quantum space. Furthermore, through the CFA form, we define FA-amenability of discrete quantum group actions, and present some basic connections between FA-amenable actions and amenable discrete quantum groups. As an applicati…
We prove that every unital stably finite simple amenable $C^*$-algebra $A$ with finite nuclear dimension and with UCT such that every trace is quasi-diagonal has the property that $A\otimes Q$ has generalized tracial rank at most one, where $Q$ is the universal UHF-algebra. Consequently, $A$ is classifiable in the sense of Elliott.
Let $A$ be a unital $C^*$-algebra and $X$ an invulutive $A-A$-equivalence bimodule. Let $A\subset C_X$ be the unital inclusion of unital $C^*$-algebras induced by $X$. We suppose that $A' \cap C_X =\mathbf{C} 1$. We shall compute the Picard group of the unital inclusion $A\subset C_X$.
We construct two types of unital separable simple $C^*$-alebras $A_z^{C_1}$ and $A_z^{C_2},$ one is exact but not amenable, and the other is non-exact. Both have the same Elliott invariant as the Jiang-Su algebra, namely, $A_z^{C_i}$ has a unique tracial state, $$(K_0(A_z^{C_i}), K_0(A_z^{C_i})_+, [1_{A_z^{C_i}} ])=(\mathbb Z, \mathbb Z_+,1)$$ and $K_{1}(A_z^{C_i})=\{0\}$ ($i=1,2$). We show that $A_z^{C_i}$ ($i=1,2$) is essentially tracially in the class of separable ${\cal Z}$-stable $C^*$-alebras of nuclear dimension 1. $A_z^{C_i}$ has stable rank one, strict comparison for positive elements…
Let $A$ and $B$ be unital $C^*$-algebras and let $H$ be a finite dimensional $C^*$-Hopf algebra. Let $H^0$ be its dual $C^*$-Hopf algebra. Let $(ρ, u)$ and $(σ, v)$ be twisted coactions of $H^0$ on $A$ and $B$, respectively. In this paper, we shall show the following theorem: We suppose that the unital inclusions $A\subset A\rtimes_{ρ, u}H$ and $B\subset B\rtimes_{σ, v}H$ are strongly Morita equivalent. If $A'\cap (A\rtimes_{ρ, u}H)=\BC1$, then there is a $C^*$-Hopf algebra automorphism $λ^0$ of $H^0$ such that the twisted coaction $(ρ, u)$ is strongly Morita equivalent to the twisted coaction…
We shall introduce the notion of the Picard group for an inclusion of $C^*$-algebras. We shall also study its basic properties and the relation between the Picard group for an inclusion of $C^*$-algebras and the ordinary Picard group. Furthermore, we shall give some examples of the Picard groups for unital inclusions of unital $C^*$-algebras.
Let $M$ be a finite von Neumann algebra (resp. a type II$_{1}$ factor) and let $N\subset M$ be a II$_{1}$ factor (resp. $N\subset M$ have an atomic part). We prove that the inclusion $N\subset M$ is amenable implies the identity map on $M$ has an approximate factorization through $M_m(\mathbb{C})\otimes N $ via trace preserving normal unital completely positive maps, which is a generalization of a result of Haagerup. We also prove two permanence properties for amenable inclusions. One is weak Haagerup property, the other is weak exactness.
We shall generalize the notion of the strong Morita equivalence for coactions of a finite dimensional $C^*$-Hopf algebra on a unital $C^*$-algebra and define the Picard groups with respect to the generalized strong Morita equivalence. We call them the generalized Picard groups for coactions of a finite dimensional $C^*$-Hopf algebra on a unital $C^*$-algeba. We shall investigate basic properties of the generalized Picard groups and clarify the relation between the generalized Picard groups and the Picard groups for unital inclusions of unital $C^*$-algebras.
The semigroups of unital extensions of separable $C^\ast$-algebras come in two flavours: a strong and a weak version. By the unital $\mathrm{Ext}$-groups, we mean the groups of invertible elements in these semigroups. We use the unital $\mathrm{Ext}$-groups to obtain $K$-theoretic classification of both unital and non-unital extensions of $C^\ast$-algebras, and in particular we obtain a complete $K$-theoretic classification of full extensions of UCT Kirchberg algebras by stable AF algebras.
In this note we show that every Kirchberg algebra in the UCT class is the $C^{\ast}$-algebra of a Hausdorff, ample, amenable and locally contracting groupoid. The non-unital case follows from Spielberg's graph-based models for Kirchberg algebras. Our contribution is the unital case and our proof builds on Spielberg's construction.
We provide an abstract characterization for the Cuntz semigroup of unital commutative AI-algebras, as well as a characterization for abstract Cuntz semigroups of the form $\text{Lsc} (X,\overline{\mathbb{N}})$ for some $T_1$-space $X$. In our investigations, we also uncover new properties that the Cuntz semigroup of all AI-algebras satisfies.
We geometrically describe the relation induced on a set of graphs by isomorphism of their associated graph C*-algebras as the smallest equivalence relation generated by five types of moves. The graphs studied have finitely many vertices and finitely or countably infinitely many edges, corresponding to unital and separable C*-algebras.
In this paper, we introduce a class of non-unital tracial approximation ${\rm C^*}$-algebras. Consider the class of ${\rm C^*}$-algebras which are tracially $\mathcal{Z}$-absorbing (in the sense of Amint, Golestani, Jamali, Phillips's simple tracially $\mathcal{Z}$-absorbing or Castillejos, Li, Szabvo's tracial $\mathcal{Z}$-stability). Then $A$ is tracially $\mathcal{Z}$-absorbing for any simple ${\rm C^*}$-algebra $A$ in the corresponding class of non-unital tracial approximation ${\rm C^*}$-algebras.
It is shown that any bundle of KMS state spaces which can occur for a flow on a unital separable C*-algebra with a trace state can also be realized by a flow on any given unital infinite-dimensional simple AF algebra with a tracial state space affinely homeomorphic to the fiber in the bundle over 0.
Suppose that $A,B$ are nuclear, separable ${\rm C}^*$-algebras of stable rank one and real rank zero, $A$ is unital simple, $B$ is stable and $({\rm K}_0(B),{\rm K}_0^+(B))$ is weakly unperforated in the sense of Elliott \cite{Ell}. We show that any unital extension with trivial index maps of $A$ by $B$ is absorbing.
Suppose A is a unital subhomogeneous C*-algebra. We show that every central sequence in A is hypercentral if and only if every pointwise limit of a sequence of irreducible representations is multiplicity free. We also show that every central sequence in A is trivial if and only if every pointwise limit of irreducible representations is irreducible. We also give a nice repesentation of the latter algebras.
We shall introduce the notions of the strong Morita equivalence for unital inclusions of unital $C^*$-algebras and conditional expectations from an equivalence bimodule onto its closed subspace with respect to conditional expectations from unital $C^*$-algebras onto their unital $C^*$-subalgebras. Also, we shall study their basic properties.
It is shown that the coloured isomorphism class of a unital, simple, $\mathcal{Z}$-stable, separable amenable C$^*$-algebra satisfying the Universal Coefficient Theorem (UCT) is determined by its tracial simplex.
Let $A \subset C$ and $B \subset D$ be unital inclusions of unital $C^*$-algebras. Let ${}_A \mathbf{B}_A (C, A)$ (resp. ${}_B \mathbf{B}_B (D, B)$) be the space of all bounded $A$-bimodule (resp. $B$-bimodule) linear maps from $C$ (resp. $D$) to $A$ (resp. $B$). We suppose that $A \subset C$ and $B \subset D$ are strongly Morita equivalent. We shall show that there is an isometric isomorphism $f$ of ${}_A \mathbf{B}_A (C, A)$ onto ${}_B \mathbf{B}_B (D, B)$ and we shall study on basic properties about $f$.
We prove that the crossed product Banach algebra $\ell^1(G,A;α)$ that is associated with a ${\mathrm C}^\ast$-dynamical system $(A,G,α)$ is amenable if $G$ is a discrete amenable group and $A$ is a strongly amenable ${\mathrm C}^\ast$-algebra. This is a consequence of the combination of a more general result with Paterson's characterisation of strongly amenable unital $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras in terms of invariant means for their unitary groups.
