This paper mainly investigates the Cauchy problem of the spatially weighted dissipative equation with initial data in the weighted Lebesgue space. A generalized Hankel Transform is introduced to derive the analytical solution and a special Young's Inequality has been applied to prove the space-time estimates for this type of equation.
In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem of a weakly dissipative $μ$HS equation. We first establish the local well-posedness for the weakly dissipative $μ$HS equation by Kato's semigroup theory. Then, we derive the precise blow-up scenario for strong solutions to the equation. Moreover, we present some blow-up results for strong solutions to the equation. Finally, we give two global existence results to the equation.
We consider the Cauchy problem for an evolution equation modeling bidirectional surface waves in a convecting fluid. Under small condition on the initial value, the existence and asymptotic behavior of global solutions in some time weighted spaces are established by the contraction mapping principle.
We consider solutions to the Cauchy problem for the incompressible Euler equations on the 3-dimensional torus which are continuous or Hölder continuous for any exponent $θ<\frac{1}{16}$. Using the techniques introduced in \cite{DS12} and \cite{DS12H}, we prove the existence of infinitely many (Hölder) continuous initial vector fields starting from which there exist infinitely many (Hölder) continuous solutions with preassigned total kinetic energy.
In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem with the far field condisiton for the generalized Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers equation with a fourth-order dissipative term. When the corresponding Riemann problem for the hyperbolic part admits a Riemann solution which consists of single rarefaction wave, it is proved that the solution of the Cauchy problem tends toward the rarefaction wave as time goes to infinity. We can further obtain the same global asymptotic stability of the rarefaction wave to the generalized Korteweg-de Vries-Benjamin-Bona-Mahony…
In this paper, we mainly consider the Cauchy problem of a weakly dissipative Camassa-Holm equation. We first establish the local well-posedness of equation in Besov spaces $B^{s}_{p,r}$ with $s>1+\frac 1 p$ and $s=1+\frac 1 p , r=1,p\in [1,\infty).$ Then, we prove the global existence for small data, and present two blow-up criteria. Finally, we get two blow-up results, which can be used in the proof of the ill-posedness in critical Besov spaces.
In this paper we consider some dissipative versions of the modified Korteweg de Vries equation $u_t+u_{xxx}+|D_x|^αu+u^2u_x=0$ with $0<α\leq 3$. We prove some well-posedness results on the associated Cauchy problem in the Sobolev spaces $H^s({\Bbb R})$ for $s>1/4-α/4$ on the basis of the $[k; Z]-$multiplier norm estimate obtained by Tao in \cite{Tao} for KdV equation.
We study the well-posedness in weighted Sobolev spaces, for the initial value problem (IVP) associated with the dissipative Benjamin-Ono (dBO) equation. We establish persistence properties of the solution flow in the weighted Sobolev spaces $\z_{s,r}=H^s(\R)\cap L^2(|x|^{2r}dx)$, $s\geq r>0$. We also prove some unique continuation properties in these spaces. In particular, such results of unique continuation show that our results of well posedness are sharp.
This paper studies the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear fractional power dissipative equation $u_t+(-\triangle)^αu= F(u)$ for initial data in the Lebesgue space $L^r(\mr^n)$ with $\ds r\ge r_d\triangleq{nb}/({2α-d})$ or the homogeneous Besov space $\ds\dot{B}^{-σ}_{p,\infty}(\mr^n)$ with $\dsσ=(2α-d)/b-n/p$ and $1\le p\le \infty$, where $α>0$, $F(u)=f(u)$ or $Q(D)f(u)$ with $Q(D)$ being a homogeneous pseudo-differential operator of order $d\in[0,2α)$ and $f(u)$ is a function of $u$ which behaves like $|u|^bu$ with $b>0$.
In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for the linear and semilinear Moore-Gibson-Thompson (MGT) equation in the dissipative case. Concerning the linear MGT model, by utilizing WKB analysis associated with Fourier analysis, we derive some $L^2$ estimates of solutions, which improve those in the previous research [46]. Furthermore, asymptotic profiles of the solution and an approximate relation in a framework of the weighted $L^1$ space are derived. Next, with the aid of the classical energy method and Hardy's inequality, we get singular limit results for an energy and the solution itself. …
In this work, we study the nonlinear spatially homogeneous Lan-dau equation with Maxwellian molecules, by using the spectral analysis, we show that the non linear Landau operators is almost linear, and we prove the existence of weak solution for the Cauchy problem with the initial datum belonging to Shubin space of negative index which conatins the probability measures. Based on this spectral decomposition, we prove also that the Cauchy problem enjoys Gelfand-Shilov smoothing effect, meaning that the weak solution of the Cauchy problem with Shubin class initial datum is ultra-analytics and exp…
In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for the linear spatially homogeneous Boltzamnn equation with Debye-Yukawa potential. Using the spectral decomposition of the linear operator, we prove that, for an initial datum in the sense of distribution which contains the dual of the Sobolev spaces, there exists a unique solution which belongs to a more regular Sobolev space for any positive time. We also study the sharp regularity of the solution.
In this work, we study the Cauchy problem for the radially symmetric spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation with Debye-Yukawa potential. We prove that this Cauchy problem enjoys the same smoothing effect as the Cauchy problem defined by the evolution equation associated to a fractional logarithmic harmonic oscillator. To be specific, we can prove the solution of the Cauchy problem belongs to Shubin spaces.
We consider the Cauchy problem for systems of semilinear wave equations in two space dimensions. We present a structural condition on the nonlinearity under which the energy decreases to zero as time tends to infinity if the Cauchy data are sufficiently small, smooth and compactly-supported.
In this work, we study the Cauchy problem of the spatially homogeneous Landau equation with hard potentials in a close-to-quilibrium framework. We prove that the solution to the Cauchy problem enjoys the analytic regularizing effect of the time variable with an L2 initial datum for positive time. So that the smoothing effect of Cauchy problem for the spatially homogeneous Landau equation with hard potentials is exactly same as heat equation.
In this paper we study the Cauchy problem for doubly dissipative elastic waves in two space dimensions, where the damping terms consist of two different friction or structural damping. We derive energy estimates and diffusion phenomena with different assumptions on initial data. Particularly, we find the dominant influence on diffusion phenomena by introducing a new threshold of diffusion structure.
We consider the Cauchy problem of a dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a time dependent harmonic potential. We find a critical situation that the $L^2$-norm of dissipative solutions decays or not and which is decided by a nonlinear power and time decay order of harmonic potential.
The smoothing effect of the Cauchy problem for a class of kinetic equations is studied. We firstly consider the spatially homogeneous non linear Landau equation with Maxwellian molecules and inhomogeneous linear Fokker-Planck equation to show the ultra-analytic effects of the Cauchy problem. Those smoothing effect results are optimal and similar to heat equation. In the second part, we study a model of spatially inhomogeneous linear Landau equation with Maxwellian molecules, and show the analytic effect of the Cauchy problem.
In this note we report local well-posedness results for the Cauchy problems associated to generalized KdV type equations with dissipative perturbation for given data in the low regularity $L^2$-based Sobolev spaces. The method of proof is based on the {\em contraction mapping principle} employed in some appropriate time weighted spaces.
In this work, we prove the existence, uniqueness and smoothing properties of the solution to the Cauchy problem for the spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation with Debye-Yukawa potential for probability measure initial datum.
In this work, we study the nonlinear spatially homogeneous Landau equation with hard potential in a close-to-equilibrium framework, we show that the solution to the Cauchy problem with $L^2$ initial datum enjoys a analytic Gelfand-Shilov regularizing effect in the class $S^1_1(\mathbb{R}^3)$, meaning that the solution of the Cauchy problem and its Fourier transformation are analytic for any positive time, the evolution of analytic radius is similar to the heat equation.
We consider the Cauchy problem for systems of cubic nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations in one space dimension. Under a suitable structural condition on the nonlinearity, we will show that the small amplitude solution gains an additional logarithmic decay in comparison with the free evolution in the sense of $L^p$, $2\le p \le \infty$.
In this work, we study the Cauchy problem for the spatially homogeneous non-cutoff Boltzamnn equation with Maxwellian molecules. We prove that this Cauchy problem enjoys Gelfand-Shilov regularizing effect, that means the smoothing properties is same as the Cauchy problem defined by the evolution equation associated to a fractional harmonic oscillator. The power of this fractional is exactly the singular index of non-cutoff collisional kernel of Boltzmann operator. So that we get the regularity of solution in the Gevery class with the sharp power and the optimal exponential decay of solutions. …
In this note, we study the Cauchy problem of the linear spatially homogeneous Landau equation with soft potentials. We prove that the solution to the Cauchy problem enjoys the analytic regularizing effect of the time variable with an L2 initial datum for positive time. So that the smoothing effect of Cauchy problem for the linear spatially homogeneous Landau equation with soft potentials is similar to the heat equation.
We show a strong maximum principle and an Alexandrov-Bakelman-Pucci estimate for the weak solutions of a Cauchy problem featuring Caputo time-derivatives and non-local operators in space variables given in terms of Bernstein functions of the Laplacian. To achieve this, first we propose a suitable meaning of a weak solution, show their existence and uniqueness, and establish a probabilistic representation in terms of time-changed Brownian motion. As an application, we also discuss an inverse source problem.
In this work, we investigate the Cauchy problem for the spatially inhomogeneous non-cutoff Kac equation. If the initial datum belongs to the spatially critical Besov space, we can prove the well-posedness of weak solution under a perturbation framework. Furthermore, it is shown that the solution enjoys Gelfand-Shilov regularizing properties with respect to the velocity variable and Gevrey regularizing properties with respect to the position variable. In comparison with the recent result in [18], the Gelfand-Shilov regularity index is improved to be optimal. To the best of our knowledge, our wo…
Developing an original idea of De Giorgi, we introduce a new and purely variational approach to the Cauchy Problem for a wide class of defocusing hyperbolic equations. The main novel feature is that the solutions are obtained as limits of functions that minimize suitable functionals in space-time (where the initial data of the Cauchy Problem serve as prescribed boundary conditions). This opens up the way to new connections between the hyperbolic world and that of the Calculus of Variations. Also dissipative equations can be treated. Finally, we discuss several examples of equations that fit in…
We show existence of a global weak dissipative solution of the Cauchy problem for the two-component Camassa-Holm (2CH) system on the line with nonvanishing and distinct spatial asymptotics. The influence from the second component in the 2CH system on the regularity of the solution, and, in particular, the consequences for wave breaking, is discussed. Furthermore, the interplay between dissipative and conservative solutions is treated.
In this article we study the Gevrey regularization effect for the spatially inhomogeneous Boltzmann equation without angular cutoff. This equation is partially elliptic in the velocity direction and degenerates in the spatial variable. We consider the nonlinear Cauchy problem for the fluctuation around the Maxwellian distribution and prove that any solution with mild regularity will become smooth in Gevrey class at positive time, with Gevrey index depending on the angular singularity. Our proof relies on the symbolic calculus for the collision operator and the global subelliptic estimate for t…
Given $A,B\in M_n(\mathbb R)$, we consider the Cauchy problem for partially dissipative hyperbolic systems having the form \begin{equation*} \partial_{t}u+A\partial_{x}u+Bu=0, \end{equation*} with the aim of providing a detailed description of the large-time behavior. Sharp $L^p$-$L^q$ estimates are established for the distance between the solution to the system and a time-asymptotic profile, where the profile is the superposition of diffusion waves and exponentially decaying waves.
We study the Cauchy problem for the dissipative Benjamin-Ono equations $u_t+\H u_{xx}+|D|^αu+uu_x=0$ with $0\leqα\leq 2$. When $0\leqα< 1$, we show the ill-posedness in $H^s(\R)$, $s\in\R$, in the sense that the flow map $u_0\mapsto u$ (if it exists) fails to be $\C^2$ at the origin. For $1<α\leq 2$, we prove the global well-posedness in $H^s(\R)$, $s>-α/4$. It turns out that this index is optimal.
In this paper, we consider a class of spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation without angular cutoff. We prove that any radial symmetric weak solution of the Cauchy problem become analytic for positive time.
It is shown that the Cauchy problem for the DNLS equation in the spatially periodic setting is locally well-posed in Sobolev spaces H^s(T) for s \geq 1/2. Moreover, global well-posedness is shown for s \geq 1 and data with small L^2 norm.
We consider non-dissipative (elastic) rate-type material models that are derived within the Gibbs-potential-based thermodynamic framework. Since the absence of any dissipative mechanism in the model prevents us from establishing even a local-in-time existence result in two spatial dimensions for a spatially periodic problem, we propose two regularisations. For such regularized problems we obtain well-posedness of the planar, spatially periodic problem. In contrast with existing results, we prove ours for a regularizing term present solely in the evolution equation for the stress.
This paper considers the Cauchy problem for the quasilinear hyperbolic system of balance laws in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\ge 2$. The system is partially dissipative in the sense that there is an eigen-family violating the Kawashima condition. By imposing certain supplementary degeneracy conditions with respect to the non-dissipative eigen-family, global unique smooth solutions near constant equilibria are constructed. The proof is based on the introduction of the partially normalized coordinates, a delicate structural analysis, a family of scaled energy estimates with minimum fractional derivative c…
In this work, we consider a spatially homogeneous Kac's equation with a non cutoff cross section. We prove that the weak solution of the Cauchy problem is in the Gevrey class for positive time. This is a Gevrey regularizing effect for non smooth initial datum. The proof relies on the Fourier analysis of Kac's operators and on an exponential type mollifier.
This work is concerned about the Cauchy problem for the following generalized KdV- Burgers equation \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{l} \partial_tu+\partial_x^3u+L_pu+u\partial_xu=0, u(0,\,x)=u_0(x). \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $L_p$ is a dissipative multiplicator operator. Using Besov-Bourgain Spaces, we establish a bilinear estimate and following the framework developed in Molinet, L. & Vento, S. (2011) we prove sharp global well-posedness in the Sobolev spaces $H^{-p/2}(I\!\!R)$ and sharp ill-posedness in $H^s(I\!\!R)$ when $s<-p/2$ with $p \geq 2$.
We consider the Cauchy problem for a system of balance laws derived from a chemotaxis model with singular sensitivity in multiple space dimensions. Utilizing energy methods, we first prove the global well-posedness of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem when only the energy of the first order spatial derivatives of the initial data is sufficiently small, and the solutions are shown to converge to the prescribed constant equilibrium states as time goes to infinity. Then we prove that the solutions of the fully dissipative model converge to those of the corresponding partially dissipative …
In this paper we study the Cauchy problem for one multidimensional compressible nonlocal model of the dissipative quasi-geostrophic equations. First, we obtain the local existence and uniqueness of the smooth non-negative solution or the strong solution in time. Secondly, for the sub-critical and critical case $1\leα\leq 2$, we obtain the global existence and uniqueness results of the nonnegative smooth solution. Then, we prove the global existence of the weak solution for $0\le α\le 2$ and $ν\ge 0$. Finally, for the sub-critical case, we establish the global $H^1$ and $L^p, p>2,$ decay rate o…
In this paper, we study the smoothness effect of Cauchy problem for the spatially homogeneous Landau equation in the hard potential case and the Maxwellian molecules case. We obtain the analytic smoothing effect for the solutions under rather weak assumptions on the initial datum.
We consider the spatially inhomogeneous non-cutoff Kac's model of the Boltzmann equation. We prove that the Cauchy problem for the fluctuation around the Maxwellian distribution enjoys Gelfand-Shilov regularizing properties with respect to the velocity variable and Gevrey regularizing properties with respect to the position variable.
In this paper, we consider the spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation without angular cutoff. We prove that every $L^1$ weak solution to the Cauchy problem with finite moments of all order acquires the $C^\infty$ regularity in the velocity variable for the positive time.
In this paper, we prove that the existence and uniqueness of globally weak solutions to the Cauchy problem for the weakly dissipative Camassa-Holm equation in time weighted $H^1$ space. First, we derive an equivalent semi-linear system by introducing some new variables, and present the globally conservative solutions of this equation in time weighted $H^1$ space. Second, we show that the peakon solutions are conservative weak solutions in $H^1.$ Finally, given a conservative solution, we introduce a set of auxiliary variables tailored to this particular solution, and prove that these variables…
We investigate the equation $(u_t + (f(u))_x)_x = f''(u) (u_x)^2/2$ where $f(u)$ is a given smooth function. Typically $f(u)= u^2/2$ or $u^3/3$. This equation models unidirectional and weakly nonlinear waves for the variational wave equation $u_{tt} - c(u) (c(u)u_x)_x =0$ which models some liquid crystals with a natural sinusoidal $c$. The equation itself is also the Euler-Lagrange equation of a variational problem. Two natural classes of solutions can be associated with this equation. A conservative solution will preserve its energy in time, while a dissipative weak solution loses energy at t…
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for an inviscid compressible Oldroyd-B model in three dimensions. The global well posedness of strong solutions and the associated time-decay estimates in Sobolev spaces are established near an equilibrium state. The vanishing of viscosity is the main challenge compared with our previous work [47] where the viscosity coefficients are included and the decay rates for the highest-order derivatives of the solutions seem not optimal. One of the main objectives of this paper is to develop some new dissipative estimates such that the smallness of the ini…
We prove that the Cauchy problem associated to the radially symmetric spatially homogeneous non-cutoff Boltzmann equation with Maxwellian molecules enjoys the same Gelfand-Shilov regularizing effect as the Cauchy problem defined by the evolution equation associated to a fractional harmonic oscillator.
In this paper, we study a weakly dissipative variant of the periodic Degasperis-Procesi equation. We show the local well-posedness of the associated Cauchy problem in $H^s(§)$, $s>3/2$, and discuss the precise blow-up scenario for $s=3$. We also present explicit examples for globally existing solutions and blow-up.
Hyperbolic-parabolic systems have spatially homogenous stationary states. When the dissipation is weak, one can derive weakly nonlinear-dissipative approximations that govern perturbations of these constant states. These approximations are quadratically nonlinear. When the original system has an entropy, the approximation is formally dissipative in a natural Hilbert space. We show that when the approximation is strictly dissipative it has global weak solutions for all initial data in that Hilbert space. We also prove a weak-strong uniqueness theorem for it. In addition, we give a Kawashima typ…
We introduce a new model of the logarithmic type of wave like plate equation with a nonlocal logarithmic damping mechanism. We consider the Cauchy problem for this new model in the whole space, and study the asymptotic profile and optimal decay rates of solutions as time goes to infinity in L^{2}-sense. The operator L considered in this paper was first introduced to dissipate the solutions of the wave equation in the paper studied by Charao-Ikehata in 2020. We will discuss the asymptotic property of the solution as time goes to infinity to our Cauchy problem, and in particular, we classify the…
