In this article, we present a complete study of two disjoint classes of conformal vector fields on doubly warped product manifolds as well as on doubly warped space-times. Then we study Ricci solitons on doubly warped product manifollds admitting these types of conformal vector fields.
In this paper, we study the doubly warped product manifolds with semisymmetric metric connection. We derive the curvatures formulas for doubly warped product manifold with semi-symmetric metric connection in terms of curvatures of components of doubly warped product manifolds. We also prove the necessary and sufficient condition for a doubly warped product manifold to be a warped product manifold. We obtain some results for Einstein doubly warped product manifold and Einstein-like doubly warped product manifold of class A with respect to a semi-symmetric metric connection.
In this paper, we give an affirmative answer to Gromov's conjecture ([3, Conjecture E]) by establishing an optimal Lipschitz lower bound for a class of smooth functions on orientable open $3$-manifolds with uniformly positive sectional curvatures. For rigidity we show that the universal covering of the given manifold must be $\mathbf R^2\times (-c,c)$ with some doubly warped product metric if the optimal bound is attained. This gives a characterization for doubly warped product metrics with positive constant curvature. As a corollary, we also obtain a focal radius estimate for immersed toruses…
For any manifold $N^p$ admitting an Einstein metric with positive Einstein constant, we study the behavior of the Ricci flow on high-dimensional products $M = N^p \times S^{q+1}$ with doubly-warped product metrics. In particular, we provide a rigorous construction of local, type II, conical singularity formation on such spaces. It is shown that for any $k > 1$ there exists a solution with curvature blow-up rate $\| Rm \|_{\infty} (t) \gtrsim (T-t)^{-k}$ with singularity modeled on a Ricci-flat cone at parabolic scales.
We give a characterization {\sl à la Obata} for certain families of K\''ahler manifolds. These results are in the same line as other extensions of the well-known Obata's rigidity theorem from \cite{Obata62}, like for instance the generalizations in \cite{RanjSant97} and \cite{Santhanam07}. Moreover, we give a complete description of the so-called K\''ahler doubly-warped product structures whose underlying metric is Einstein.
In this paper, we investigate the condition on warped product manifold of a Kenmotsu manifold and the real line to be a conformal Kahler manifold. This result demonstrates the close relation of Kenmotsu and Kahler manifolds.
In this paper, we study the geometry of pointwise semi-slant warped products in a locally conformal Kaehler manifold. In particular, we obtain several results which extend Chen's inequality for CR-warped product submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds. Also, we study the corresponding equality cases. Several related results on pointwise semi-slant warped products are also proved in this paper.
In this paper we present not only some properties related to bi-warped product submanifolds of locally conformal almost cosymplectic manifolds, but also we show how the squared norm of the second fundamental form and the bi-warped product's warping functions are related when the bi-warped product submanifold has a proper slant submanifold as a base or fiber.
In this paper we study Inverse Mean Curvature Flow (IMCF) on manifolds that are conformal to a warped product manifold. To this end, we show how the gradient conformal vector field in warped product manifolds is related to the conformal vector field on the conformal metric and use this to gain control of the flow in order to show long time existence. Connections are made to recent results of the author on stability of the positive mass theorem (PMT) and the Riemannian Penrose inequality (RPI) where long time existence of IMCF is an important assumption.
We introduce a notion of doubly warped product of weighted graphs that is consistent with the doubly warped product in the Riemannian setting. We establish various discrete Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature-dimension bounds for such warped products in terms of the curvature of the constituent graphs. This requires deliberate analysis of the quadratic forms involved, prompting the introduction of some crucial notions such as curvature saturation at a vertex. In the spirit of being thorough and to provide a frame of reference, we also introduce the $\left(R_1,R_2\right)$-doubly warped products of smoo…
n this paper, we obtain a geometric inequality between the length of the second fundamental form and the length of Lee form in terms of the warping function for a CR-warped product submanifold in a locally conformal Kaehler space form. The equality case is also investigated. Furthermore, the inequality is discussed for the important subclass of locally conformal Kaehler manifolds i.e., Vaisman manifold.
A. Gray presented an interesting $O\left( n\right) $ invariant decomposition of the covariant derivative of the Ricci tensor. Manifolds whose Ricci tensor satisfies the defining property of each orthogonal class are called Einstein-like manifolds. In the present paper, we answered the following question: Under what condition(s), does a factor manifold $M_{i},i=1,2$ of a doubly warped product manifold $M=_{f_{2}}M_{1}\times _{f_{1}}M_{2}$ lie in the same Einstein-like class of $M$? By imposing sufficient and necessary conditions on the warping functions, an inheritance property of each class is…
In this paper, we mainly study gradient $ρ$-Einstein solitons on doubly warped product manifolds. More explicitly, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a doubly warped product manifold to be a gradient $ρ$-Einstein soliton. We also apply our main result to warped product spacetime models such as generalized Robertson-Walker and standard static spacetimes as well as 3-dimensional Walker manifolds. We finally establish that there is no 3-dimensional esentially conformally symmetric gradient $ρ$-Einstein soliton.
Spherically symmetric spacetimes are ambient spaces for models of stellar collapse and inhomogeneous cosmology. We obtain results for the Weyl tensor and the covariant form of the Ricci tensor on general doubly warped (DW) spacetimes. In a spherically symmetric metric, the Ricci and electric tensors become rank-2, built with a velocity vector field and its acceleration. Their structure dictates the general form of the energy-momentum tensor in the Einstein equations in DW spherical metrics. The anisotropic pressure and the heat current of an imperfect fluid descend from the gradient of the acc…
In this paper we prove that under certain conditions in a quasi Einstein semi Riemannian warped product the fiber is necessarily a Einstein manifold. We provide all the quasi Einstein manifolds when r Bakry Emery tensor is null, the base is conformal to an n-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space invariant under the action of an n - 1 dimensional translation group and the fiber is Ricci flat. As an application, we have built a family of Ricci flat Einstein warped product whose base is not locally conformally flat.
Conformal Ricci solitons are self similar solutions of the conformal Ricci flow equation. This paper deals with the study of conformal Ricci solitons within the framework of warped product manifolds which extends the notion of usual Riemannian product manifolds. First, we prove that if a warped product manifold admits conformal Ricci soliton then the base and the fiber also share the same property. In the next section the characterization of conformal Ricci solitons on warped product manifolds in terms of Killing and conformal vector fields has been studied. Next, we prove that a warped produc…
In this note we characterize 1+n doubly twisted spacetimes in terms of `doubly torqued' vector fields. They extend Bang-Yen Chen's characterization of twisted and generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes with torqued and concircular vector fields. The result is a simple classification of 1+n doubly-twisted, doubly-warped, twisted and generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes.
We study pseudo-Riemannian Einstein manifolds which are conformally equivalent with a metric product of two pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. Particularly interesting is the case where one of these manifolds is 1-dimensional and the case where the conformal factor depends on both manifolds simultaneously. If both factors are at least 3-dimensional then the latter case reduces to the product of two Einstein spaces, each of the special type admitting a non-trivial conformal gradient field. These are completely classified. If each factor is 2-dimensional, there is a special family of examples of non-c…
We derive the general formulas for a special configuration of the sequential warped product semi-Riemannian manifold to be Einstein, where the base-manifold is the product of two manifolds both equipped with a conformal metrics. Subsequently we study the case in which these two manifolds are conformal to a $n_1$-dimensional and $n_2$-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space, respectively. For the latter case, we prove the existence of a family of solutions that are invariant under the action of a $(n_1-1)$-dimensional group of transformations to the case of positive constant Ricci curvature ($λ>0$).
In this note, we introduce a new type of warped products called as sequential warped products to cover a wider variety of exact solutions to Einstein's equation. First, we study the geometry of sequential warped products and obtain covariant derivatives, curvature tensor, Ricci curvature and scalar curvature formulas. Then some important consequences of these formulas are also stated. We provide characterizations of geodesics and two different types of conformal vector fields, namely, Killing vector fields and concircular vector fields on sequential warped product manifolds. Finally, we consid…
In this paper, we provide a necessary and sufficient conditions for the warped product $M=B\times_f F$ to be a gradient Yamabe soliton when the base is conformal to an n-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space, which are invariant under the action of an (n-1)-dimensional translation group, and the fiber F is scalar-constant. As application, we obtain solutions in steady case with fiber scalar-flat. Besides, on the warped product we consider the potential function as separable variables and obtain some characterization of the base and the fiber.
The simple structure of doubly torqued vectors allows for a natural characterization of doubly twisted down to warped spacetimes, as well as Kundt spacetimes down to PP waves. For the first ones the vectors are timelike, for the others they are null. We also discuss some properties, and their connection to hypersurface orthogonal conformal Killing vectors, and null Killing vectors.
In this paper we consider a class of Einstein warped product semi-Riemannian manifolds $\widehat{M} = M^{n}\times_{f}N^{m}$ with $n\geq 3$ and $m\geq 2$. For $\widehat{M}$ with compact base and Ricci-flat fiber, we prove that $\widehat{M}$ is simply a Riemannian product space. Then, when the base $M$ is conformal to a pseudo-Euclidean space which is invariant under the action of a $(n-1)$-dimensional translation group, we classify all such spaces. Furthermore, we get new examples of complete Einstein warped products Riemannian manifolds.
In this paper we consider $M = B\times_{f}F$ warped product gradient Ricci solitons. We proved that the potential function depends only on the base and the fiber $F$ is necessarily Einstein manifold. We provide all such solutions in the case of steady gradient Ricci solitons when the base is conformal to an $n$-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space, invariant under the action of an $(n-1)$-dimensional translation group and the fiber $F$ is Ricci-flat.
The purpose of this article is to study gradient Yamabe soliton on warped product manifolds. First, we prove triviality results in the case of noncompact base with limited warping function, and for compact base. In order to provide nontrivial examples, we consider the base conformal to a semi-Euclidean space, which is invariant under the action of a translation group, and then we characterize steady solitons. We use this method to give infinitely many explicit examples of complete steady gradient Yamabe solitons.
In this paper we study gradient Ricci-Harmonic soliton with structure of warped product manifold. We obtain some triviality results for the potential function, warping function and the harmonic map which reaches maximum or minimum. In order to obtain nontrivial examples of warped product gradient Ricci-harmonic soliton, we consider the base and fiber conformal to a semi-Euclidean space which is invariant under the action of a translation group of co-dimension one. This approach provide infinitely many geodesically complete examples in the semi-Riemannian context, which is not contemplated in t…
Harmonic morphisms are maps between Riemannian manifolds that pull back harmonic functions to harmonic functions. These maps are characterized as horizontally weakly conformal harmonic maps and they have many interesting links and applications to several areas in mathematics (see the book by Baird and Wood for details). In this paper, we study generalized harmonic morphisms which are defined to be maps between Riemannian manifolds that pull back harmonic functions to biharmonic functions. We obtain some characterizations of generalized harmonic morphisms into a Euclidean space and give two met…
The aim of this paper is to introduce a notion of mean curvature flow soliton general enough to encompass target spaces of constant sectional curvature, Riemannian products or, in increasing generality, warped product spaces.
We characterize Ricci almost solitons on semi-Riemannian warped products, considering the potential function to depend on the fiber or not. We show that the fiber is necessarily an Einstein manifold. As a consequence of our characterization we prove that when the potential function depends on the fiber, if the gradient of the warping function does not act by translations then the base and the warped product are also Einstein manifolds. Moreover, we show the existence of conformal vector fields on the base, the fiber and on the warped product. Assuming completeness of the warped product we prov…
