In this paper, we show that the exponential integrator scheme both in spatial discretization and time discretization for a class of stochastic partial differential equations has a unique stationary distribution whenever the stepsize is sufficiently small, and reveal that the weak limit of the law for the exponential integrator scheme is in fact the counterpart for the stochastic partial differential equation considered.
This article studies the effect of discretisation error on the stationary distribution of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs). We restrict the analysis to the effect of space discretisation, performed by finite element schemes. The main result is that under appropriate assumptions the stationary distribution of the finite element discretisation converges in total variation norm to the stationary distribution of the full SPDE.
In this paper we aim to find the stationary stochastic viscosity solutions of a parabolic type SPDEs through the infinite horizon backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs). For this, we study the existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions of the corresponding infinite horizon BDSDEs as well as the "perfection procedure" applied to the solutions of BDSDEs. At last the "perfect" stationary stochastic viscosity solutions of SPDEs constructed by solutions of corresponding BDSDEs are obtained.
In this paper we construct the stationary weak solutions of parabolic SPDEs by a general infinite horizon backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs for short) with non-degenerate terminal functions. For this, we first study the existence, uniqueness and stationarity of solutions of such kind of BDSDEs in weighted $L^p(dx)\bigotimes L^2(dx)$ space ($p>2$). Then the corresponding stationary solutions of parabolic SPDEs can be obtained by the connection between the solutions of BDSDEs in weighted $L^p(dx)\bigotimes L^2(dx)$ space and the weak solutions of parabolic SPDEs. This res…

In Rajeev (2013), 'Translation invariant diffusion in the space of tempered distributions', it was shown that there is an one to one correspondence between solutions of a class of finite dimensional SDEs and solutions of a class of SPDEs in $\mathcal{S}'$, the space of tempered distributions, driven by the same Brownian motion. There the coefficients $\barσ, \bar{b}$ of the finite dimensional SDEs were related to the coefficients of the SPDEs in $\mathcal{S}'$ in a special way, viz. through convolution with the initial value $y$ of the SPDEs. In this paper, we consider the situation where the …
We study a class of backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs) involving martingales with spatial parameters, and show that they provide probabilistic interpretations (Feynman-Kac formulae) for certain semilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with space-time noise. As an application of the Feynman-Kac formulae, random periodic solutions and stationary solutions to certain SPDEs are obtained.
In this paper we study the existence and uniqueness of the $L_ρ^{2p}(\mathbb{R}^d;\mathbb{R}^1)\times L_ρ^2(\mathbb{R}^d;\mathbb{R}^d)$ valued solution of backward doubly stochastic differential equations with polynomial growth coefficients using week convergence, equivalence of norm principle and Wiener-Sobolev compactness arguments. Then we establish a new probabilistic representation of the weak solutions of SPDEs with polynomial growth coefficients through the solutions of the corresponding backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs). This probabilistic representation is the…
In this paper, exploiting the regularities of the corresponding Kolmogorov equations involved we investigate strong convergence of exponential integrator scheme for a range of stochastic partial differential equations, in which the drift term is Hölder continuous, and reveal the rate of convergence.
Our first result is a stochastic sewing lemma with quantitative estimates for mild incremental processes, with which we study SPDEs driven by fractional Brownian motions in a random environment. We obtain uniform $L^p$-bounds. Our second result is a fractional averaging principle admitting non-stationary fast environments. As an application, we prove a fractional averaging principle for SPDEs.
In this paper, we study the existence of random periodic solutions for semilinear SPDEs on a bounded domain with a smooth boundary. We identify them as the solutions of coupled forward-backward infinite horizon stochastic integral equations on $L^2(D)$ in general cases. For this we use Mercer's Theorem and eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the second order differential operators in the infinite horizon integral equations. We then use the argument of the relative compactness of Wiener-Sobolev spaces in $C^0([0, T], L^2(Ω\times D))$ and generalized Schauder's fixed point theorem to prove the exi…
This paper presents theoretical advances in the application of the Stochastic Partial Differential Equation (SPDE) approach in geostatistics. We show a general approach to construct stationary models related to a wide class of linear SPDEs, with applications to spatio-temporal models having non-trivial properties. Within the framework of Generalized Random Fields, a criterion for existence and uniqueness of stationary solutions for this class of SPDEs is proposed and proven. Their covariance are then obtained through their spectral measure. We present a result relating the covariance in the ca…
We consider singular quasilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) studied in \cite{FHSX}, which are defined in paracontrolled sense. The main aim of the present article is to establish the global-in-time solvability for a particular class of SPDEs with origin in particle systems and, under a certain additional condition on the noise, prove the convergence of the solutions to stationary solutions as $t\to\infty$. We apply the method of energy inequality and Poincaré inequality. It is essential that the Poincaré constant can be taken uniformly in an approximating sequence of the…
We investigate the weak order of convergence for space-time discrete approximations of semilinear parabolic stochastic evolution equations driven by additive square-integrable Lévy noise. To this end, the Malliavin regularity of the solution is analyzed and recent results on refined Malliavin-Sobolev spaces from the Gaussian setting are extended to a Poissonian setting. For a class of path-dependent test functions, we obtain that the weak rate of convergence is twice the strong rate.
We consider a Lévy process in the plane and we use it to construct a family of complex-valued random fields that we show to converge in law, in the space of continuous functions, to a complex Brownian sheet. We apply this result to obtain weak approximations of the random field solution to a semilinear one-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by the space-time white noise.
Stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) have become a crucial ingredient in a number of models from economics and the natural sciences. Many SPDEs that appear in such applications include non-globally monotone nonlinearities. Solutions of SPDEs with non-globally monotone nonlinearities are in nearly all cases not known explicitly. Such SPDEs can thus only be solved approximatively and it is an important research problem to construct and analyze discrete numerical approximation schemes which converge with positive strong convergence rates to the solutions of such infinite dimensional …
We discuss here the validity of the small mass limit (the so-called Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation) on a fixed time interval for a class of semi-linear stochastic wave equations, both in the case of the presence of a constant friction term and in the case of the presence of a constant magnetic field. We also consider the small mass limit in an infinite time interval and we see how the approximation is stable in terms of the invariant measure and of the large deviation estimates and the exit problem from a bounded domain of the space of square integrable functions.
We study stochastic integrals driven by a general subordinator and establish a zero-one law for the finiteness of the resulting integral as well as moment estimates. As an application, we use these results to obtain structural properties of SPDEs driven by multiplicative pure jump noise, which include (1) a maximal inequality for a multiplicative stochastic convolution $Z_t$, (2) a small ball probability of $Z_t$, (3) the existence of invariant measures and accessibility to zero of SPDEs, and (4) a Galerkin approximation of solutions to SPDEs.
This work considers weak approximations of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) driven by Lévy noise. The SPDEs at hand are parabolic with additive noise processes. A weak-convergence rate for the corresponding Galerkin approximation is derived. The convergence result is derived by use of the Malliavin derivative rather then the common approach via the Kolmogorov backward equation.
The mild Ito formula proposed in Theorem 1 in [Da Prato, G., Jentzen, A., \& Röckner, M., A mild Ito formula for SPDEs, arXiv:1009.3526 (2012), To appear in the Trans.\ Amer.\ Math.\ Soc.] has turned out to be a useful instrument to study solutions and numerical approximations of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) which are formulated as stochastic evolution equations (SEEs) on Hilbert spaces. In this article we generalize this mild Itô formula so that it is applicable to solutions and numerical approximations of SPDEs which are formulated as SEEs on UMD (unconditional martingal…
By using the Malliavin calculus and finite jump approximations, the Driver-type integration by parts formula is established for the semigroup associated to stochastic (partial) differential equations with noises containing a subordinate Brownian motion. As applications, the shift Harnack inequality and heat kernel estimates are derived. The main results are illustrated by SDEs driven by $å$-stable like processes.
We consider the genealogy tree for a critical branching process conditioned on non-extinction. We enumerate vertices in each generation of the tree so that for each two generations one can define a monotone map describing the ancestor--descendant relation between their vertices. We show that under appropriate rescaling this family of monotone maps converges in distribution in a special topology to a limiting flow of discontinuous monotone maps which can be seen as a continuum tree. This flow is a solution of an SPDE with respect to a Brownian sheet.
This paper investigates a numerical probabilistic method for the solution of some semilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs in short). The numerical scheme is based on discrete time approximation for solutions of systems of decoupled forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations. Under standard assumptions on the parameters, the convergence and the rate of convergence of the numerical scheme is proven. The proof is based on a generalization of the result on the path regularity of the backward equation.
This paper studies a class of impulsive neutral stochastic partial differential equations in real Hilbert spaces. The main goal here is to consider the Trotter-Kato approximations of mild solutions of such equations in the $p$th-mean ($p\geq2$). As an application, a classical limit theorem on the dependence of such equations on a parameter is obtained. The novelty of this paper is that the combination of this approximating system and such equations has not been considered before.
In this paper we consider the following stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) in the whole space: $du (t, x) = [a^{i j} (t, x) D_{i j} u(t, x) + f(u, t, x)]\, dt + \sum_{k = 1}^m g^k (u(t, x)) dw^k (t).$ We prove the convergence of a Wong-Zakai type approximation scheme of the above equation in the space $ C^{θ} ([0, T], H^γ_p (\mathbb{R}^d)) $ in probability, for some $ θ\in (0,1/2), γ\in (1, 2)$, and $p > 2$. We also prove a Stroock-Varadhan's type support theorem. To prove the results we combine V. Mackevicius ideas from his papers on Wong-Zakai theorem and the support theorem for…
We consider the approximation via modulation equations for nonlinear SPDEs on unbounded domains with additive space time white noise. Close to a bifurcation an infinite band of eigenvalues changes stability, and we study the impact of small space-time white noise on this bifurcation. As a first example we study the stochastic Swift-Hohenberg equation on the whole real line. Here due to the weak regularity of solutions the standard methods for modulation equations fail, and we need to develop new tools to treat the approximation. As an additional result we sketch the proof for local existence a…
The Stable Manifold Theorem for Semilinear Stochastic Evolution Equations and Stochastic Partial Differential Equations II: Existence of stable and unstable manifolds
This paper introduces SPDE bridges with observation noise and contains an analysis of their spatially semidiscrete approximations. The SPDEs are considered in the form of mild solutions in an abstract Hilbert space framework suitable for parabolic equations. They are assumed to be linear with additive noise in the form of a cylindrical Wiener process. The observational noise is also cylindrical and SPDE bridges are formulated via conditional distributions of Gaussian random variables in Hilbert spaces. A general framework for the spatial discretization of these bridge processes is introduced. …
We consider a class of parabolic semi-linear stochastic partial differential equations driven by space-time white noise on a compact space interval. Our aim is to obtain precise asymptotics of the transition times between metastable states. A version of the so-called Eyring-Kramers Formula is proven in an infinite dimensional setting. The proof is based on a spatial finite difference discretization of the stochastic partial differential equation. The expected transition time is computed for the finite dimensional approximation and controlled uniformly in the dimension.
We study the approximation of SPDEs on the whole real line near a change of stability via modulation or amplitude equations, which acts as a replacement for the lack of random invariant manifolds on extended domains. Due to the unboundedness of the underlying domain a whole band of infinitely many eigenfunctions changes stability. Thus we expect not only a slow motion in time, but also a slow spatial modulation of the dominant modes, which is described by the modulation equation. As a first step towards a full theory of modulation equations for nonlinear SPDEs on unbounded domains, we focus, i…
In this paper, we establish the second Bogolyubov theorem and global averaging principle for stochastic partial differential equations (in short, SPDEs) with monotone coefficients. Firstly, we prove that there exists a unique $L^{2}$-bounded solution to SPDEs with monotone coefficients and this bounded solution is globally asymptotically stable in square-mean sense. Then we show that the $L^{2}$-bounded solution possesses the same recurrent properties (e.g. periodic, quasi-periodic, almost periodic, almost automorphic, Birkhoff recurrent, Levitan almost periodic, etc.) in distribution sense as…
This article introduces a certain class of stochastic processes, which we suggest to call mild Ito processes, and a new - somehow mild - Ito type formula for such processes. Examples of mild Ito processes are mild solutions of SPDEs and their numerical approximation processes.
The mean-field stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) corresponding to a mean-field super-Brownian motion (sBm) is obtained and studied. In this mean-field sBm, the branching-particle lifetime is allowed to depend upon the probability distribution of the sBm itself, producing an SPDE whose space-time white noise coefficient has, in addition to the typical sBm square root, an extra factor that is a function of the probability law of the density of the mean-field sBm. This novel mean-field SPDE is thus motivated by population models where things like overcrowding and isolation can affec…
The problem of approximating the covariance operator of the mild solution to a linear stochastic partial differential equation is considered. An integral equation involving the semigroup of the mild solution is derived and a general error decomposition is proven. This formula is applied to approximations of the covariance operator of a stochastic advection-diffusion equation and a stochastic wave equation, both on bounded domains. The approximations are based on finite element discretizations in space and rational approximations of the exponential function in time. Convergence rates are derive…
We use Yosida approximation to find an Itô formula for mild solutions $\left\{X^x(t), t\geq 0\right\}$ of SPDEs with Gaussian and non-Gaussian coloured noise, the non Gaussian noise being defined through compensated Poisson random measure associated to a Lévy process. The functions to which we apply such Itô formula are in $C^{1,2}([0,T]\times H)$, as in the case considered for SDEs in [9]. Using this Itô formula we prove exponential stability and exponential ultimate boundedness properties in mean square sense for mild solutions. We also compare such Itô formula to an Itô formula for mild sol…
We consider the family of stochastic partial differential equations indexed by a parameter $\eps\in(0,1]$, \begin{equation*} Lu^{\eps}(t,x) = \epsσ(u^\eps(t,x))\dot{F}(t,x)+b(u^\eps(t,x)), \end{equation*} $(t,x)\in(0,T]\times\Rd$ with suitable initial conditions. In this equation, $L$ is a second-order partial differential operator with constant coefficients, $σ$ and $b$ are smooth functions and $\dot{F}$ is a Gaussian noise, white in time and with a stationary correlation in space. Let $p^\eps_{t,x}$ denote the density of the law of $u^\eps(t,x)$ at a fixed point $(t,x)\in(0,T]\times\Rd$. We …
The efficient simulation of the mean value of a non-linear functional of the solution to a linear stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) with additive Gaussian noise is considered. A Galerkin finite element method is employed along with an implicit Euler scheme to arrive at a fully discrete approximation of the mild solution to the equation. A scheme is presented to compute the covariance of this approximation, which allows for rapid sampling in a Monte Carlo method. This is then extended to a multilevel Monte Carlo method, for which a scheme to compute the cross-covariance between th…
In this article, we are interested in solving numerically backward doubly stochastic differential equations (BDSDEs) with random terminal time tau. The main motivations are giving a probabilistic representation of the Sobolev's solution of Dirichlet problem for semilinear SPDEs and providing the numerical scheme for such SPDEs. Thus, we study the strong approximation of this class of BDSDEs when tau is the first exit time of a forward SDE from a cylindrical domain. Euler schemes and bounds for the discrete-time approximation error are provided.
In this paper, we establish an existence and uniqueness result for system of quasilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs for short) with reflection in a convex domain in R^k by analytical approach. The method is based on the approximation of the penalized systems of SPDEs.
Weak convergence rates for numerical approximations of stochastic partial differential equations with nonlinear diffusion coefficients in UMD Banach spaces
We consider the long-time behavior of an explicit tamed exponential Euler scheme applied to a class of parabolic semilinear stochastic partial differential equations driven by additive noise, under a one-sided Lipschitz continuity condition. The setting encompasses nonlinearities with polynomial growth. First, we prove that moment bounds for the numerical scheme hold, with at most polynomial dependence with respect to the time horizon. Second, we apply this result to obtain error estimates, in the weak sense, in terms of the time-step size and of the time horizon, to quantify the error to appr…
