We give a type free formula for the expansion of k-Schur functions indexed by fundamental coweights within the affine nilCoxeter algebra. Explicit combinatorics are developed in affine type C.
The branching of (k-1)-Schur functions into k-Schur functions was given by Lapointe, Lam, Morse and Shimozono as chains in a poset on k-shapes. The k-Schur functions are the parameterless case of a more general family of symmetric functions over Q(t), conjectured to satisfy a k-branching formula given by weights on the k-shape poset. A concept of a (co)charge on a k-tableau was defined by Lapointe and Pinto. Although it is not manifestly positive, they prove it is compatible with the k-shape poset for standard k-tableau and the positivity follows. Morse introduced a manifestly positive notion …
Cylindric skew Schur functions, a generalization of skew Schur functions, are closely related to the famous problem finding a combinatorial formula for the 3-point Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmannian. In this paper, we prove cylindric Schur positivity of the cylindric skew Schur functions, conjectured by McNamara. We also show that all coefficients appearing in the expansion are the same as $3$-point Gromov-Witten invariants. We start discussing properties of affine Stanley symmetric functions for general affine permutations and $321$-avoiding affine permutations, and explain how these fu…
We introduce the notion of standard multipartitions and establish a one-to-one correspondence between standard multipartitions and irreducible representations with integral weights for the affine Hecke algebra of type A with a parameter q which is not a root of unity. We then extend the correspondence to all Kleshchev multipartitions for Ariki-Koike algebras of integral type. By the affine Schur--Weyl duality, we further extend this to a correspondence between standard multipartitions and Drinfeld multipolynomials of integral type whose associated irreducible polynomial representations complet…
We introduce an affine Schur algebra via the affine Hecke algebra associated to Weyl group of affine type C. We establish multiplication formulas on the affine Hecke algebra and affine Schur algebra. Then we construct monomial bases and canonical bases for the affine Schur algebra. The multiplication formula allows us to establish a stabilization property of the family of affine Schur algebras that leads to the modified version of an algebra ${\mathbf K}^{\mathfrak c}_n$. We show that ${\mathbf K}^{\mathfrak c}_n$ is a coideal subalgebra of quantum affine algebra ${\bf U}(\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_n…
We give a new description of the Pieri rule for k-Schur functions using the Bruhat order on the affine type-A Weyl group. In doing so, we prove a new combinatorial formula for representatives of the Schubert classes for the cohomology of affine Grassmannians. We show how new combinatorics involved in our formulas gives the Kostka-Foulkes polynomials and discuss how this can be applied to study the transition matrices between Hall-Littlewood and k-Schur functions.
Given a module $M$ for the algebra $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$ of quantum differential operators on $G$, and a positive integer $n$, we may equip the space $F_n^G(M)$ of invariant tensors in $V^{\otimes n}\otimes M$, with an action of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A_{n-1}$. Here $G= SL_N$ or $GL_N$, and $V$ is the $N$-dimensional defining representation of $G$. In this paper we take $M$ to be the basic $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$-module, i.e. the quantized coordinate algebra $M= \mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$. We describe a weight basis for $F_n^G(\mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G))$ com…
We introduce new partial orders on the sequence positive roots and study the statistics of the poset by using Auslander-Reiten quivers for finite type ADE. Then we can prove that the statistics provide interesting information on the representation theories of KLR-algebras, quantum groups and quantum affine algebras including Dorey's rule, bases theory for quantum groups, and denominator formulas between fundamental representations. As applications, we prove Dorey's rule for quantum affine algebras $U_q(E_{6,7,8}^{(1)})$ and partial information of denominator formulas for $U_q(E_{6,7,8}^{(1)})$…
We construct the affine version of the Fomin-Kirillov algebra, called the affine FK algebra, to investigate the combinatorics of affine Schubert calculus for type $A$. We introduce Murnaghan-Nakayama elements and Dunkl elements in the affine FK algebra. We show that they are commutative as Bruhat operators, and the commutative algebra generated by these operators is isomorphic to the cohomology of the affine flag variety. We show that the cohomology of the affine flag variety is product of the cohomology of an affine Grassmannian and a flag variety, which are generated by MN elements and Dunkl…
This paper gives a Schur-Weyl duality approach to the representation theory of the affine Hecke algebras of type C with unequal parameters. The first step is to realize the affine braid group of type $C_k$ as the group of braids on $k$ strands with two poles. Generalizing familiar methods from the one pole (type A) case, this provides commuting actions of the quantum group $U_q\mathfrak{g}$ and the affine braid group of type $C_k$ on a tensor space $M\otimes N \otimes V^{\otimes k}$. Special cases provide Schur-Weyl pairings between the affine Hecke algebra of type $C_k$ and the quantum group …
We use k-Schur functions to get the minimal boundary of the k-bounded partition poset. This permits to describe the central random walks on affine Grassmannian elements of type A and yields a polynomial expression for their drift. We also recover Rietsch's parametriza-tion of totally nonnegative unitriangular Toeplitz matrices without using quantum cohomology of flag varieties. All the homeomorphisms we define can moreover be made explicit by using the combinatorics of k-Schur functions and elementary computations based on Perron-Frobenius theorem.
We prove that the $K$-$k$-Schur functions are part of a family of inhomogenous symmetric functions whose top homogeneous components are Catalan functions, the Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on the flag variety. Lam-Schilling-Shimozono identified the $K$-$k$-Schur functions as Schubert representatives for $K$-homology of the affine Grassmannian for SL$_{k+1}$. Our perspective reveals that the $K$-$k$-Schur functions satisfy a shift invariance property, and we deduce positivity of their branching coefficients from a positivity result of Baldwin and Kumar. We further show that a …
The Peterson isomorphism relates the homology of the affine Grassmannian to the quantum cohomology of any flag variety. In the case of a partial flag, Peterson's map is only a surjection, and one needs to quotient by a suitable ideal on the affine side to map isomorphically onto the quantum cohomology. We provide a detailed exposition of this parabolic Peterson isomorphism in the case of the Grassmannian of m-planes in complex n-space, including an explicit recipe for doing quantum Schubert calculus in terms of the appropriate subset of non-commutative k-Schur functions. As an application, we …
For numerical semigroups with a specified list of (not necessarily minimal) generators, we obtain explicit asymptotic expressions, and in some cases quasipolynomial/quasirational representations, for all major factorization length statistics. This involves a variety of tools that are not standard in the subject, such as algebraic combinatorics (Schur polynomials), probability theory (weak convergence of measures, characteristic functions), and harmonic analysis (Fourier transforms of distributions). We provide instructive examples which demonstrate the power and generality of our techniques. W…
We interpret a formula established by Lapid-M\'ınguez on real regular representations of ${\rm GL}_n$ over a local non-archimedean field as a matrix determinant. We use the Lewis Carroll determinant identity to prove new relations between real regular representations. Through quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality, these relations generalize Mukhin-Young's Extended $T$-systems, for representations of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_k)$, which are themselves generalizations of the celebrated $T$-system relations.
We introduce new families of cylindric symmetric functions as subcoalgebras in the ring of symmetric functions $Λ$ (viewed as a Hopf algebra) which have non-negative structure constants. Combinatorially these cylindric symmetric functions are defined as weighted sums over cylindric reverse plane partitions or - alternatively - in terms of sets of affine permutations. We relate their combinatorial definition to an algebraic construction in terms of the principal Heisenberg subalgebra of the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{\widehat{sl}}_n$ and a specialised cyclotomic Hecke algebra. Using Schur-We…
