We improve our description of pion-pion scattering data by imposing additional requirements to our previous fits, in the form of once-subtracted Roy-like equations, while extending our analysis up to 1100 MeV. We provide simple and ready to use parametrizations of the amplitude. In addition, we present a detailed description and derivation of these once-subtracted dispersion relations that, in the 450 to 1100 MeV region, provide an additional constraint which is much stronger than our previous requirements of Forward Dispersion Relations and standard Roy equations. The ensuing constrained amplitudes describe the existing data with rather small uncertainties in the whole region from threshold up to 1100 MeV, while satisfying very stringent dispersive constraints. For the S0 wave, this requires an improved matching of the low and high energy parametrizations. Also for this wave we have considered the latest low energy Kl4 decay results, including their isospin violation correction, and we have removed some controversial data points. These changes on the data translate into better determinations of threshold and subthreshold parameters which remove almost all disagreement with previous Chiral Perturbation Theory and Roy equation calculations below 800 MeV. Finally, our results favor the dip structure of the S0 inelasticity around the controversial 1000 MeV region.
We report our progress on the data analysis of $ππ$ scattering data in terms of Forward Dispersion Relations (FDR), as well as Roy equations (RE) and their once-subtracted counterpart, GKPY equations. The first part of the analysis consists of independent fits to the different $ππ$ channels. The GKPY equations provide a more stringent consistency check for the parametrizations of the S0-wave data in the region from 400 to 1100 MeV, In the second part we present our preliminary analysis where the fits are constrained to satisfy all dispersion relations within errors, including the new GKPY Eqs.…
We show how the new precise data on kaon decays together with forward dispersion relations, sum rules and once- and twice-subtracted Roy's equations allow for a precise determination of the sigma meson pole position. We present a comparison and a study of the different sources of uncertainties when using either once- or twice-subtracted Roy's equations to analyze the data. Finally we present a preliminary determination of the sigma pole from the constrained dispersive data analysis.
Roy's equations are used to check if the scalar-isoscalar pion-pion scattering amplitudes fitted to experimental data fulfill crossing symmetry conditions. It is shown that the amplitudes describing the ``down-flat'' phase shift solution satisfy crossing symmetry below 1 GeV while the amplitudes fitted to the "up-flat'' data do not. In this way the long standing "up-down" ambiguity in the phenomenological determination of the scalar-isoscalar pion-pion amplitudes has been resolved confirming the independent result of the recent joint analysis of the pi+pi- and pi0pi0 data.
We review our recent analysis of pion-pion scattering data in terms of Roy equations and Forward Dispersion Relations, and present some preliminary results in terms of a new set of once-subtracted coupled equations for partial waves. The first analysis consists of independent fits to the different pion-pion channels that satisfies rather well the dispersive representation. In the second analysis we constrain the fit with the dispersion relations. The latter provides a very precise and model independent description of data using just analyticity, causality and crossing.
We present a set of once subtracted dispersion relations which implement crossing symmetry conditions for the $ππ$ scattering amplitudes below 1 GeV. We compare and discuss the results obtained for the once and twice subtracted dispersion relations, known as Roy's equations, for three $ππ$ partial JI waves, S0, P and S2. We also show that once subtracted dispersion relations provide a stringent test of crossing and analyticity for $ππ$ partial wave amplitudes, remarkably precise in the 400 to 1.1 GeV region, where the resulting uncertainties are significantly smaller than those coming from sta…
We complete and improve the fits to experimental $ππ$ scattering amplitudes, both at low and high energies, that we performed in the previous papers of this series. We then verify that the corresponding amplitudes satisfy analyticity requirements, in the form of partial wave analyticity at low energies, forward dispersion relations (FDR) at all energies, and Roy equations below$\bar{K}K$ threshold; the first by construction, the last two, inside experimental errors. Then we repeat the fits including as constraints FDR and Roy equations. The ensuing central values of the various scattering ampl…
The Roy equations determine the S- and P-wave pion-pion phase shifts on a low energy interval. They allow the derivation of threshold parameters from experimental data. We examine the solutions of these equations that are in the neighborhood of a given solution by means of a linearization procedure. An updated survey of known results on the dimension of the manifold of solutions is presented. The solution is unique for a low energy interval with upper end at 800 MeV. We determine its response to small variations of the input: S-wave scattering lengths and absorptive parts above 800 MeV. We con…
The scalar-isoscalar, scalar-isotensor and vector-isovector pion-pion partial wave amplitudes are analyzed. Preliminary results indicate that only the scalar-isoscalar amplitude fitted to the "down-flat" data satisfies Roy's equations and consequently crossing symmetry.
This talk is dedicated to the memory of Paco Yndurain, the original speaker in the conference. After a short account of his scientific career, we briefly review our ongoing collaboration to determine precisely the $ππ$ scattering amplitude including the most recent data by means of Forward Dispersion Relations and Roy Equations. A remarkable improvement in precision over the intermediate energy region is obtained by using once-subtracted Roy Equations in addition to the standard twice-subtracted ones.
Roy's equations, which incorporate crossing symmetry of the pion-pion scattering amplitudes, are used to resolve the present ambiguity between two solutions for the scalar-isoscalar phase shifts below 1 GeV. It is shown that the "down-flat" solution satisfies well Roy's equations and consequently crossing symmetry while the other solution called "up-flat" does not and thus should be eliminated.
Starting from hyperbolic dispersion relations, we derive a closed system of Roy-Steiner equations for pion-nucleon scattering that respects analyticity, unitarity, and crossing symmetry. We work out analytically all kernel functions and unitarity relations required for the lowest partial waves. In order to suppress the dependence on the high-energy regime we also consider once- and twice-subtracted versions of the equations, where we identify the subtraction constants with subthreshold parameters. Assuming Mandelstam analyticity we determine the maximal range of validity of these equations. As…
We match the results for the subthreshold parameters of pion-nucleon scattering obtained from a solution of Roy-Steiner equations to chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order, to extract the pertinent low-energy constants including a comprehensive analysis of systematic uncertainties and correlations. We study the convergence of the chiral series by investigating the chiral expansion of threshold parameters up to the same order and discuss the role of the Δ(1232) resonance in this context. Results for the low-energy constants are also presented in the counting sche…
We present a determination of the pion-nucleon ($πN$) $σ$-term $σ_{πN}$ based on the Cheng-Dashen low-energy theorem (LET), taking advantage of the recent high-precision data from pionic atoms to pin down the $πN$ scattering lengths as well as of constraints from analyticity, unitarity, and crossing symmetry in the form of Roy-Steiner equations to perform the extrapolation to the Cheng-Dashen point in a reliable manner. With isospin-violating corrections included both in the scattering lengths and the LET, we obtain $σ_{πN}=(59.1\pm 1.9\pm 3.0)$ MeV $=(59.1\pm 3.5)$ MeV, where the first error …
We give a brief review of the theoretical description of low energy pion-pion scattering by the combined use of Chiral Perturbation Theory and Roy equations, an update of the Regge parametrization of $ππ$ cross sections at high energies, and a short discussion of the scalar radius of the pion.
We review the structure of Roy-Steiner equations for pion-nucleon scattering, the solution for the partial waves of the t-channel process $ππ\to \bar N N$, as well as the high-accuracy extraction of the pion-nucleon S-wave scattering lengths from data on pionic hydrogen and deuterium. We then proceed to construct solutions for the lowest partial waves of the s-channel process $πN\to πN$ and demonstrate that accurate solutions can be found if the scattering lengths are imposed as constraints. Detailed error estimates of all input quantities in the solution procedure are performed and explicit p…
Starting from hyperbolic dispersion relations, we present a system of Roy--Steiner equations for pion Compton scattering that respects analyticity and unitarity requirements, gauge invariance, as well as crossing symmetry, and thus all symmetries of the underlying quantum field theory. To suppress the dependence on the high-energy region, we also consider once- and twice-subtracted versions of the equations, where the subtraction constants are identified with dipole and quadrupole pion polarizabilities. We consider the resolution of the $γγ\toππ$ partial waves by a Muskhelishvili-Omnès represe…
Starting from hyperbolic dispersion relations, we derive a system of Roy--Steiner equations for pion Compton scattering that respects analyticity, unitarity, gauge invariance, and crossing symmetry. It thus maintains all symmetries of the underlying quantum field theory. To suppress the dependence of observables on high-energy input, we also consider once- and twice-subtracted versions of the equations, and identify the subtraction constants with dipole and quadrupole pion polarizabilities. Based on the assumption of Mandelstam analyticity, we determine the kinematic range in which the equatio…
We have evaluated forward dispersion relations for scattering amplitudes that follow from direct fits to several sets of pion-pion scattering experiments, together with the precise K decay results, and high to energy data. We find that some of the most commonly used experimental sets, as well as some recent theoretical analyses based on Roy equations, do not satisfy these constraints by several standard deviations. Finally, we provide a consistent pion-pion amplitude by improving a global fit to data with these dispersion relations.
Assuming that axiomatic local field theory results hold for hadron scattering, André Martin and S. M. Roy recently obtained absolute bounds on the D-wave below threshold for pion-pion scattering and thereby determined the scale of the logarithm in the Froissart bound on total cross sections in terms of pion mass only. Previously, Martin proved a rigorous upper bound on the inelastic cross-section $σ_{inel}$ which is one-fourth of the corresponding upper bound on $σ_{tot}$, and Wu, Martin,Roy and Singh improved the bound by adding the constraint of a given $σ_{tot}$. Here we use unitarity and a…
We review results of an analysis of pipi interactions in S, P and D waves for two-pion effective mass from threshold to about 1.4 GeV. In particular we show a recent improvement of this analysis above the K anti-K threshold using more data for phase shifts and including the S0 wave inelasticity from pipi -> K anti-K. In addition, we have improved the fit to the f2(1270) resonance and used a more flexible P wave parametrization above the K anti-K threshold and included an estimation of the D2 wave inelasticity. The better accuracy thus achieved also required a refinement of the Regge analysis a…
We present a data-driven analysis of the resonant S-wave $ππ\to ππ$ and $πK \to πK$ reactions using the partial-wave dispersion relation. The contributions from the left-hand cuts are accounted for using the Taylor expansion in a suitably constructed conformal variable. The fits are performed to experimental and lattice data as well as Roy analyses. For the $ππ$ scattering we present both a single- and coupled-channel analysis by including additionally the $K\bar{K}$ channel. For the latter the central result is the Omnès matrix, which is consistent with the most recent Roy and Roy-Steiner res…
We analyze the Roy equations for the lowest partial waves of elastic pi pi scattering and demonstrate that the two S-wave scattering lengths a_0^0 and a_0^2 are the essential parameters in the low energy region: Once these are known, the available experimental information determines the behaviour near threshold to within remarkably small uncertainties. An explicit numerical representation for the energy dependence of the S- and P-waves is given and it is shown that the threshold parameters of the D- and F-waves are also fixed very sharply in terms of a_0^0 and a^2_0. In agreement with earlier …
In a series of papers we have applied several sum rules and forward dispersion relations, to pion-pion scattering. We have found that some widely used data sets fail to satisfy these constraints, and we have provided an amplitude that describes data consistently with the dispersive tests. Furthermore, we noted that the input and precision claimed in a Roy equation analysis by Colangelo, Gasser and Leutwyler, lead to several mismatches with some sum rules. Subsequently, Caprini, Colangelo, Gasser and Leutwyler claimed that our Regge parametrization was incorrect. We collect here the answers to …
Starting from hyperbolic dispersion relations for the invariant amplitudes of pion-nucleon scattering together with crossing symmetry and unitarity, one can derive a closed system of integral equations for the partial waves of both the s-channel (pi N --> pi N) and the t-channel (pi pi --> Nbar N) reaction, called Roy-Steiner equations. After giving a brief overview of the Roy-Steiner system for pi N scattering, we demonstrate that the solution of the t-channel subsystem, which represents the first step in solving the full system, can be achieved by means of Muskhelishvili-Omnès techniques. In…
The pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering lengths are studied in the QCD sum rule. We show that the leading and next-to-leading order terms of the OPE give rise to the Tomozawa-Weinberg and sigma terms, respectively. We also show that in the kaon-nucleon system the $Λ(1405)$ contribution has to be subtracted from the OPE side in order to obtain the scattering length. The odd components of the $T$-matrices are in agreement with the experimental values not only in the pion-nucleon channel but also in the kaon-nucleon channel after the $Λ(1405)$ contribution subtracted. The even components dis…
We investigate the temperature dependence of the shear and bulk viscosities and their ratios to the entropy density via a continuum QCD approach. We calculate the pion mass and decay constant in the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations of QCD and the pion thermal width by combining with Roy equations. We obtain then the variation behaviors of the viscosities, especially a novel feature of the bulk viscosity, with respect to temperature.
We perform a fit of the real Compton scattering (RCS) data below pion-production threshold to extract the electric ($α_{E1}$) and magnetic ($β_{M1}$) static scalar dipole polarizabilities of the proton, using fixed-$t$ subtracted dispersion relations and a bootstrap-based fitting technique. The bootstrap method provides a convenient tool to include the effects of the systematic errors on the best values of $α_{E1}$ and $β_{M1}$ and to propagate the statistical errors of the model parameters fixed by other measurements. We also implement various statistical tests to investigate the consistency …

The scattering of $γπ\to ππ$ is studied using the axial anomaly, elastic unitarity, analyticity and crossing symmetry. Using the technique to derive the Roy's equation, an integral equation for the P-wave amplitude is obtained in terms of the strong P-wave pion pion phase shifts. Its solution is obtained numerically by an iteration procedure using the starting point as the solution of the integral equation of the Muskelshsvilli-Omnes type. It is, however, ambiguous and depends sensitively on the second derivative of the P-wave amplitude at $s=m_π^2$ which cannot directly be measured.
We present a determination of the pion charge radius from high precision data on the pion vector form factor from both timelike and spacelike regions, using a novel formalism based on analyticity and unitarity. At low energies, instead of the poorly known modulus of the form factor, we use its phase, known with high accuracy from Roy equations for $ππ$ elastic scattering via the Fermi-Watson theorem. We use also the values of the modulus at several higher timelike energies, where the data from $e^+e^-$-annihilation and $τ$-decay are mutually consistent, as well as the most recent measurements …
We present an extraction of the pion-nucleon ($πN$) scattering lengths from low-energy $πN$ scattering, by fitting a representation based on Roy-Steiner equations to the low-energy data base. We show that the resulting values confirm the scattering-length determination from pionic atoms, and discuss the stability of the fit results regarding electromagnetic corrections and experimental normalization uncertainties in detail. Our results provide further evidence for a large $πN$ $σ$-term, $σ_{πN}=58(5)$ MeV, in agreement with, albeit less precise than, the determination from pionic atoms.
I draw attention to a recent breakthrough in the field of low energy pion physics: the consequences of the hidden symmetry of the QCD Hamiltonian have successfully been incorporated in the general dispersive framework for the pi-pi scattering amplitude, which is due to Roy. The meagre experimental information about the imaginary parts at and above 0.8 GeV suffices to unambiguously and accurately pin down the scattering amplitude at lower energies. The recent Brookhaven data on the reaction K -> pi pi e nu provide a significant test of the theory. They imply that the Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner rela…
The elastic $I=1$ $p$-wave $ππ$ scattering amplitude is calculated together with the isovector timelike pion form factor using lattice QCD with $N_{\rm f}=2+1$ dynamical quark flavors. Wilson clover ensembles generated by the Coordinated Lattice Simulations (CLS) initiative are employed at four lattice spacings down to $a = 0.05\,\mathrm{fm}$, several pion masses down to $m_π = 200\,\mathrm{MeV}$, and spatial volumes of extent $L = 3.1-5.5\,\mathrm{fm}$. The set of measurements on these ensembles, which is publicly available, enables an investigation of systematic errors due to the finite latt…
Using the tadpole improved Wilson quark action on small, coarse and anisotropic lattices, $Kπ$ scattering length in the $I=3/2$ channel is calculated within quenched approximation. The results are extrapolated towards the chiral and physical kaon mass region. Finite volume and finite lattice spacing errors are also analyzed and a result in the infinite volume and continuum limit is obtained. Our result is compared with the results obtained using Roy equations, Chiral Perturbation Theory, dispersion relations and the experimental data.
We discuss a recent extraction of the $πN$ $σ$ term $σ_{πN}$ from a large-scale fit of pionic-atom strong-interaction data across the periodic table. The value thus derived, $σ_{πN}^{\rm FG}=57\pm 7$ MeV, is directly connected via the Gell-Mann--Oakes--Renner expression to the medium-renormalized $πN$ isovector scattering amplitude near threshold. It compares well with the value derived recently by the Bern-Bonn-Jülich group, $σ_{πN}^{\rm RS}=58\pm 5$ MeV, using the Roy-Steiner equations to control the extrapolation of the vanishingly small near threshold $πN$ isoscalar scattering amplitude to…
I report on recent work done in collaboration with Irinel Caprini and Gilberto Colangelo. We observe that the Roy equations lead to a representation of the pion pion scattering amplitude that exclusively involves observable quantities, but is valid for complex values of s. At low energies, this representation is dominated by the contributions from the two subtraction constants, which are known to remarkable precision from the low energy theorems of chiral perturbation theory. Evaluating the remaining contributions on the basis of the available data, we demonstrate that the lowest resonance car…
In recent years, high-accuracy data for pionic hydrogen and deuterium have become the primary source of information on the pion-nucleon scattering lengths. Matching the experimental precision requires, in particular, the study of isospin-breaking corrections both in pion-nucleon and pion-deuteron scattering. We review the mechanisms that lead to the cancellation of potentially enhanced virtual-photon corrections in the pion-deuteron system, and discuss the subtleties regarding the definition of the pion-nucleon scattering lengths in the presence of electromagnetic interactions by comparing to …
We extend our previous study of elastic pion-nucleon scattering in the framework of chiral perturbation theory by performing a combined analysis of the reactions $πN \to πN$ and $πN \to ππN$. The calculation is carried out to fourth order in the chiral expansion using the heavy baryon approach and the covariant formulation supplemented with a modified version of the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. We demonstrate that a combined fit to experimental data in both channels leads to a reduced amount of correlations between the low-energy constants. A satisfactory description of the e…
For the first time, elastic pion-nucleon scattering is analyzed in the framework of chiral perturbation theory up to fourth order with explicit $Δ$ degrees of freedom. The analysis is performed within the heavy-baryon expansion as well as in a covariant approach based on an extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. The renormalization of low-energy constants in both chiral approaches is discussed in detail and the explicit expressions to cancel both power-counting breaking as well as decoupling breaking terms are given. The low-energy constants from the $2π\bar{N}N$ interaction as well as…
We present the results of a third order calculation of the pion-nucleon scattering amplitude in a chiral effective field theory with pions, nucleons and delta resonances as explicit degrees of freedom. We work in a manifestly Lorentz invariant formulation of baryon chiral perturbation theory using dimensional regularization and the extended on-mass-shell renormalization scheme. In the delta resonance sector, the on mass-shell renormalization is realized as a complex-mass scheme. By fitting the low-energy constants of the effective Lagrangian to the $S$- and $P$-partial waves a satisfactory des…
We use our latest dispersive analysis of pion-pion scattering data and the very recent Kl4 experimental results to obtain the mass, width and couplings of the two lightest scalar-isoscalar resonances. These parameters are defined from their associated poles in the complex plane. The analytic continuation to the complex plane is made in a model independent way by means of once and twice subtracted dispersion relations for the partial waves, without any other theoretical assumption. We find the f0(600) pole at (457^{+14}_{-13})-i(279^{+11}_{-7}) MeV and that of the f0(980) at (996\pm7)-i(25^{+10…
A distorted-wave method is used to analyse nucleon-nucleon scattering in the 1S0 channel. Effects of one-pion exchange are removed from the empirical phase shift to all orders by using a modified effective-range expansion. Two-pion exchange is then subtracted in the distorted-wave Born approximation, with matrix elements taken between scattering waves for the one-pion exchange potential. The residual short-range interaction shows a very rapid energy dependence for kinetic energies above about 100 MeV, suggesting that the breakdown scale of the corresponding effective theory is only 270MeV. Thi…
Based on the recently proposed Roy-Steiner equations for pion-nucleon scattering, we derive a system of coupled integral equations for the pi pi --> N-bar N and K-bar K --> N-bar N S-waves. These equations take the form of a two-channel Muskhelishvili-Omnes problem, whose solution in the presence of a finite matching point is discussed. We use these results to update the dispersive analysis of the scalar form factor of the nucleon fully including K-bar K intermediate states. In particular, we determine the correction Delta_sigma=sigma(2M_pi^2)-sigma_{pi N}, which is needed for the extraction o…
The two-pion contribution from low energies to the muon magnetic moment anomaly, although small, has a large relative uncertainty since in this region the experimental data on the cross sections are neither sufficient nor precise enough. It is therefore of interest to see whether the precision can be improved by means of additional theoretical information on the pion electromagnetic form factor, which controls the leading order contribution. In the present paper we address this problem by exploiting analyticity and unitarity of the form factor in a parametrization-free approach that uses the p…
We present a coupled system of integral equations for the pi pi --> Nbar N and Kbar K --> Nbar N S-waves derived from Roy-Steiner equations for pion-nucleon scattering. We discuss the solution of the corresponding two-channel Muskhelishvili-Omnes problem and apply the results to a dispersive analysis of the scalar form factor of the nucleon fully including Kbar K intermediate states. In particular, we determine the corrections Delta_sigma and Delta_D, which are needed for the extraction of the pion-nucleon sigma term from pi N scattering, and show that the difference Delta_D - Delta_sigma=(-1.…
Using dispersion theory with an improved description of the two-pion continuum based on the precise Roy-Steiner analysis of pion-nucleon scattering, we analyze recent data from electron-proton scattering. This allows for a high-precision determination of the electric and magnetic radius of the proton, $r_E = (0.838^{+0.005}_{-0.004}{}^{+0.004}_{-0.003})\,$fm and $r_M = (0.847\pm{0.004}\pm{0.004})\,$fm, where the first error refers to the fitting procedure using bootstrap and the data while the second one refers to the systematic uncertainty related to the underlying spectral functions.
Extending a recent suggestion for hyperon form factors to the nucleon case, dispersion theory is used to relate the low-energy vector-isovector form factors of the nucleon to the pion vector form factor. The additionally required input, i.e. the pion-nucleon scattering amplitudes are determined from relativistic next-to-leading-order (NLO) baryon chiral perturbation theory including the nucleons and optionally the Delta baryons. Two methods how to include pion rescattering are compared: (a) solving the Muskhelishvili-Omnes (MO) equation and (b) using an N/D approach. It turns out that the resu…
The unitary isobar model MAID has been extended and used for a partial wave analysis of pion photo- and electroproduction in the resonance region W < 2 GeV. Older data from the world data base and more recent experimental results from Mainz, Bates, Bonn and JLab for Q^2 up to 4.0 (GeV/c)^2 have been analyzed and the Q^2 dependence of the helicity amplitudes have been extracted for a series of four star resonances. We compare single-Q^2 analyses with a superglobal fit in a new parametrization of Maid2003 together with predictions of the hypercentral constituent quark model. As a result we find …
The two-pion low-energy contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $a_μ\equiv(g-2)_μ/2$, expres sed as an integral over the modulus squared of the pion electromagnetic form fac tor, brings a relatively large contribution to the theoretical error, since the low accuracy of experimental measurements in this region is amplified by the drastic increase of the integration kernel. We derive stringent constraints on the two-pion contribution by exploiting analyticity and unitarity of the pion electromagnetic form factor. To avoid the poor knowledge of the modulus of this function, we …
Recent data from high statistics experiments that have measured the modulus of the pion electromagnetic form factor from threshold to relatively high energies are used as input in a suitable mathematical framework of analytic continuation to find stringent constraints on the shape parameters of the form factor at $t=0$. The method uses also as input a precise description of the phase of the form factor in the elastic region based on Fermi-Watson theorem and the analysis of the $ππ$ scattering amplitude with dispersive Roy equations, and some information on the spacelike region coming from rece…
We derive a representation for the pion nucleon scattering amplitude that is valid to the fourth order of the chiral expansion. To obtain the correct analytic structure of the singularities in the low energy region, we have performed the calculation in a relativistic framework (infrared regularization). The result can be written in terms of functions of a single variable. We study the corresponding dispersion relations and discuss the problems encountered in the straightforward nonrelativistic expansion of the infrared singularities. As an application, we evaluate the corrections to the Goldbe…
In this work, we present a precise and model--independent method to extract resonance pole parameters from phase-shift scattering data. These parameters are defined from the associated poles in the second Riemann sheet, unfolded by the analytic continuation to the complex pole using Padé approximants. Precise theoretical parameterizations of pion-pion scattering phase shifts based on once-- and twice-- subtracted dispersion relations are used as input, whose functional form allows us to show the benefit and accuracy of the method. In particular, we extract from these parametrization the pole p…
