We establish the Strauss conjecture for nontrapping obstacles when the spatial dimension $n$ is two. As pointed out in \cite{HMSSZ} this case is more subtle than $n=3$ or 4 due to the fact that the arguments of the first two authors \cite{SmSo00}, Burq \cite{B} and Metcalfe \cite{M} showing that local Strichartz estimates for obstactles imply global ones require that the Sobolev index, $γ$, equal 1/2 when $n=2$. We overcome this difficulty by interpolating between energy estimates ($γ=0$) and ones for $γ=\frac12$ that are generalizations of Minkowski space estimates of Fang and the third author \cite{FaWa2}, \cite{FaWa}, the second author \cite{So08} and Sterbenz \cite{St05}.
Using a new local smoothing estimate of the first and third authors, we prove local-in-time Strichartz and smoothing estimates without a loss exterior to a large class of polygonal obstacles with arbitrary boundary conditions and global-in-time Strichartz estimates without a loss exterior to a large class of polygonal obstacles with Dirichlet boundary conditions. In addition, we prove a global-in-time local smoothing estimate in exterior wedge domains with Dirichlet boundary conditions and discuss some nonlinear applications.
We prove wellposedness of the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation for any defocusing power nonlinearity on a domain of the plane with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The main argument is based on a generalized Strichartz inequality on manifolds with Lipschitz metric.
We consider the Schrödinger equation on a half space in any dimension with a class of nonhomogeneous boundary conditions including Dirichlet, Neuman and the so-called transparent boundary conditions. Building upon recent local in time Strichartz estimates (for Dirichlet boundary conditions), we obtain global Strichartz estimates for initial data in $H^s,\ 0\leq s\leq 2$ and boundary data in a natural space $\mathcal{H}^s$. For $s\geq 1/2$, the issue of compatibility conditions requires a thorough analysis of the $\mathcal{H}^s$ space. As an application we solve nonlinear Schrödinger equations …
Let U be a bounded, regular, strictly convex domain of R^2 and consider the wave equation on U with Dirichlet boundary condition. We prove that in such a domain the Strichartz estimates for the wave equation suffer losses when compared to the case U=R^2, at least for a subset of the usual range of indices.
We prove global Strichartz estimates without loss outside two strictly convex obstacles, combining arguments from M.Ikawa (1982,1988) with more recent ones inspired by N.Burq, C.Guillarmou, and A. Hassell (2010) and O. Ivanovici (2010). This is to be contrasted with the loss in the smoothing estimate for the Schrödinger equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions in the presence of a trapped geodesic.
We consider a smooth and bounded domain of dimension d>1 and we construct solutions to the wave equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions which contradict the Strichartz estimates of the free space, at least for a subset of the usual range of indices. This is due to micro-local phenomena such as caustics generated in arbitrarily small time near the boundary.
We prove certain mixed-norm Strichartz estimates on manifolds with boundary. Using them we are able to prove new results for the critical and subcritical wave equation in 4-dimensions with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions. We obtain global existence in the subcricital case, as well as global existence for the critical equation with small data. We also can use our Strichartz estimates to prove scattering results for the critical wave equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions in 3-dimensions.
In this article we shall go over recent work in proving dispersive and Strichartz estimates for the Dirichlet-wave equation. We shall discuss applications to existence questions outside of obstacles and discuss open problems.
We prove Strichartz estimates with a loss of derivatives for the Schrödinger equation on polygonal domains with either Dirichlet or Neumann homogeneous boundary conditions. Using a standard doubling procedure, estimates the on polygon follow from those on Euclidean surfaces with conical singularities. We develop a Littlewood-Paley squarefunction estimate with respect to the spectrum of the Laplacian on these spaces. This allows us to reduce matters to proving estimates at each frequency scale. The problem can be localized in space provided the time intervals are sufficiently small. Strichartz …
We study the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions associated to an H 1 -critical semilinear wave equation on a smooth bounded 2D domain Ω. First, we prove an appropriate Strichartz type estimate using the $L^q$ spectral projector estimates of the Laplace operator. Our proof follows Burq-Lebeau-Planchon [5]. Then, we show the global well-posedness when the energy is below or at the threshold given by the sharp Moser-Trudinger inequality. Finally, in the supercritical case, we prove an instability result using the finite speed of propagation and a qu…
We prove localized energy estimates for the wave equation in domains with a strictly concave boundary when homogeneous Dirichlet or Neumann conditions are imposed. By restricting the solution to small, frequency dependent, space time collars of the boundary, it is seen that a stronger gain in regularity can be obtained relative to the usual energy estimates. Mixed norm estimates of Strichartz and square function type follow as a result, using the energy estimates to control error terms which arise in a wave packet parametrix construction. While the latter estimates are not new for Dirichlet co…
The work is devoted to Dirichlet problem for sub-quintic semi-linear wave equation with damping damping term of the form $(-Δ)^α\partial_t u$, $α\in(0,\frac{1}{2})$, in bounded smooth domains of $\Bbb R^3$. It appears that to prove well-posedness and develop smooth attractor theory for the problem we need additional regularity of the solutions, which does not follow from the energy estimate. Considering the original problem as perturbation of the linear one the task is reduced to derivation of Strichartz type estimate for the linear wave equation with fractional damping, which is the main feat…
It was shown by the second author in (CPAA, 2019) for the biharmonic Schrödinger equation and most recently by Himonas and Mantzavinos (Nonlinearity, 2020) for 2D Schrödinger equation that Fokas method based formulas are capable of defining weak solutions of associated nonlinear initial boundary value problems (ibvps) below the Banach algebra threshold. In view of these results, we revisit the theory of interior-boundary Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation posed on the right half line, considering both Dirichlet and Neumann cases. Finally, we apply these estimates to obtain low r…
Strichartz and dispersive estimates for quantum bouncing ball model: exponential sums and Van der Corput methods in 1d semi-classical Schrödinger equations
本研究针对一维半经典薛定谔方程,通过Van der Corput方法改进Strichartz估计,将损失从1/4降至1/6+ε,并推测高维Friedlander模型亦适用。
In this paper, we establish bilinear and gradient bilinear Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger operators in 2 dimensional compact manifolds with boundary. Using these estimates, we can infer the local well-posedness of cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $H^s$ for every $s>{2/3}$ on such manifolds.
In this {\bf draft version} we prove inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates with spherical symmetry in the abstract setting via duality arguments. Then we derive some new explicit estimates in the context of the wave equation. This allows us to prove global existence of spherically symmetric solutions to the Dirac-Klein-Gordon (DKG) system in two space dimensions.
The endpoint Strichartz estimates for two-dimensional Schrodinger equations were recovered by averaging the solutions in L^2 in the angular variable by Tao. For Schrodinger equations with defocusing inverse square potential, we proved that the homogeneous endpoint estimates hold under this setting. In particular, the original versions of endpoint estimates hold for radial data.
In this paper, we prove new multilinear Strichartz estimates, which are obtained by using techniques of Bourgain. These estimates lead to new critical well-posedness results for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation on irrational tori in two and three dimensions with small initial data. In three dimensions, this includes the energy critical case. This extends recent work of Guo-Oh-Wang.
The endpoint Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation are known to be false in two dimensions. However, if one averages the solution in $L^2$ in the angular variable, we show that the homogeneous endpoint and the retarded half-endpoint estimates hold, but the full retarded endpoint fails. In particular, the original versions of these estimates hold for radial data.
In this paper, we prove that Kato smoothing effects for magnetic Schrödinger operators can yield the endpoint Strichartz estimates for linear wave equation with magnetic potential on two dimensional hyperbolic spaces. This result serves as a cornerstone for the author's work \cite{Lize} and collaborative work \cite{LMZ} in the study of asymptotic stability of harmonic maps for wave maps from $\Bbb R\times\Bbb H^2$ to $\Bbb H^2$.
The purpose of this note is to present an alternative proof of a result by H. Smith and C. Sogge showing that in odd dimension of space, local (in time) Strichartz estimates and exponential decay of the local energy for solutions to wave equations imply global Strichartz estimates. Our proof allows to extend the result to the case of even dimensions of space
In this paper, we study the extremal problem for the Strichartz inequality for the Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{R}^2$. We show that the solutions to the associated Euler-Lagrange equation are exponentially decaying in the Fourier space and thus can be extended to be complex analytic. Consequently we provide a new proof to the characterization of the extremal functions: the only extremals are Gaussian functions, which was investigated previously by Foschi and Hundertmark-Zharnitsky.
In this note we discuss the question of homogeneous $ L^2 L^{\infty} $ Strichartz estimates for the Wave equation in dimensions $ n \geq 4 $ raised by Fang and Wang and recently shown to fail by Guo, Li, Nakanishi and Yan using probability theory. We record a deterministic example for disproving this estimate.
In this paper, we first show that there exists a maximizer for the non-endpoint Strichartz inequalities for the Schrödinger equation in all dimensions based on the recent linear profile decomposition results. We then present a new proof of the linear profile decomposition for the Schröindger equation with initial data in the homogeneous Sobolev space; as a consequence, there exists a maximizer for the Sobolev-Strichartz inequality.
In this short note, we prove Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger operators with slowly decaying singular potentials in dimension two. This is a generalization of the recent results by Mizutani, which are stated for dimension greater than two. The main ingredient of the proof is a variant of Kato's smoothing estimate with a singular weight.
This paper presents Strichartz estimates for the linearized 1D periodic Dysthe equation on the torus, namely estimate of the $L^6_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm of the solution in terms of the initial data, and estimate of the $L^4_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm in terms of the Bourgain space norm. The paper also presents other results such as bilinear and trilinear estimates pertaining to local well-posedness of the 1-dimensional periodic Dysthe equation in a suitable Bourgain space, and ill-posedness results in Sobolev spaces.
The purpose of this note is to prove sharp Strichartz estimates with derivative losses for the non elliptic Schrodinger equation posed on the 2 dimensional torus.
The authors prove global Strichartz estimates for compact perturbations of the wave operator in odd dimensions when a non-trapping assumption is satisfied.
We prove Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation which are scale-invariant up to an $\varepsilon$-loss on products of odd-dimensional spheres. Namely, for any product of odd-dimensional spheres $M=\mathbb{S}^{d_1}\times\cdots\times\mathbb{S}^{d_r}$ (so that $M$ is of dimension $d=d_1+\cdots+d_r$ and rank $r$) equipped with rational metrics, the following Strichartz estimate \begin{equation*} \|e^{itΔ}f\|_{L^p(I\times M)}\leq C_\varepsilon\|f\|_{H^{\frac{d}{2}-\frac{d+2}{p}+\varepsilon}(M)} \end{equation*} holds for any $p\geq 2+\frac{8(s-1)}{sr}$, where $$s=\max\left\{\frac{2d_i}{d_i…
We prove global, scale invariant Strichartz estimates for the linear magnetic Schrödinger equation with small time dependent magnetic field. This is done by constructing an appropriate parametrix. As an application, we show a global regularity type result for Schrödinger maps in dimensions $n\geq 6$.
We consider an $n$-dimensional spherically symmetric, asymptotically Euclidean manifold with two ends and a codimension 1 trapped set which is degenerately hyperbolic. By separating variables and constructing a semiclassical parametrix for a time scale polynomially beyond Ehrenfest time, we show that solutions to the linear Schrödiner equation with initial conditions localized on a spherical harmonic satisfy Strichartz estimates with a loss depending only on the dimension $n$ and independent of the degeneracy. The Strichartz estimates are sharp up to an arbitrary $β>0$ loss. This is in contras…

We prove Strichartz estimates for solutions to Maxwell equations in three dimensions with rough permittivities, which have less than three different eigenvalues. To this end, Maxwell equations are conjugated to half-wave equations in phase space. We use the Strichartz estimates in a known combination with energy estimates to show the new well-posedness results for quasilinear Maxwell equations.
In this paper, we study the extremal problem for the Strichartz inequality for the Schrödinger equation on the $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^2$; we provide a new proof to the characterization of the extremal functions. The only extremal functions are Gaussian functions up to the natural symmetry of the Strichartz inequality, which was investigated previously by Foschi \cite{Foschi:2007:maxi-strichartz-2d} and Hundertmark-Zharnitsky \cite{Hundertmark-Zharnitsky:2006:maximizers-Strichartz-low-dimensions}.
In this paper, we prove new Strichartz estimates for linear Schrodinger equations posed on d-dimensional irrational tori. Then, we use these estimates to prove subcritical and critical local well-posedness results for nonlinear Schrodinger equations (NLS) on irrational tori.
In this paper we investigate the dispersive properties of the solutions of the two dimensional water-waves system. First we prove Strichartz type estimates with loss of derivatives at the same low level of regularity we were able to construct the solutions in [2]. On the other hand, for smoother initial data, we prove that the solutions enjoy the optimal Strichartz estimates (i.e, without loss of regularity compared to the system linearized at (? = 0, ? = 0)).
Strichartz estimates are derived from $\ell^2$-decoupling for phase functions satisfying a curvature condition. Bilinear refinements without loss in the high frequency are discussed. Estimates are established from uniform curvature generalizing Galilean invariance or from transversality in one dimension. The bilinear refinements are utilized to prove local well-posedness for generalized cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
In space dimension $n\geq3$, we consider the magnetic Schrödinger Hamiltonian $H=-(\nabla-iA(x))^2$ and the corresponding Schrödinger equation i\partial_tu+Hu=0. We show some explicit examples of potentials $A$, with less than Coulomb decay, for which any solution of this equation cannot satisfy Strichartz estimates, in the whole range of Schrödinger admissibility.
The purpose of this paper is to study the validity of global-in-time Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge3$, with the negative inverse-square potential $-σ|x|^{-2}$ in the critical case $σ=(n-2)^2/4$. It turns out that the situation is different from the subcritical case $σ<(n-2)^2/4$ in which the full range of Strichartz estimates is known to be hold. More precisely, splitting the solution into the radial and non-radial parts, we show that (i) the radial part satisfies a weak-type endpoint estimate, which can be regarded as an extension to higher dimensio…
We prove a bilinear Strichartz type estimate for irrational tori via a decoupling type argument, \cite{bourgain2014proof}, recovering and generalizing the result of \cite{de2006global}. As a corollary, we derive a global well-posedness result for the cubic defocusing NLS on two dimensional irrational tori with data of infinite energy.
In each dimension n >= 2, we construct a class of nonnegative potentials that are homogeneous of order -sigma, chosen from the range 0 < sigma < 2, and for which the perturbed Schrodinger equation does not satisfy global in time Strichartz estimates.
We prove Strichartz estimates for gravity water waves, in arbitrary dimension and in fluid domains with general bottoms. We consider rough solutions such that, initially, the first order derivatives of the velocity field are not controlled in $L^\infty$-norm, or the initial free surface has a curvature not controlled in $L^2$-norm.
In the first part of the paper we continue the study of solutions to Schrödinger equations with a time singularity in the dispersive relation and in the periodic setting. In the second we show that if the Schrödinger operator involves a Laplace operator with variable coefficients with a particular dependence on the space variables, then one can prove Strichartz estimates at the same regularity as that needed for constant coefficients. Our work presents a two dimensional analysis, but we expect that with the obvious adjustments similar results are available in higher dimensions.
We prove Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation in $\mathbb R^n$, $n\geq 3$, with a Hamiltonian $H = -Δ+ μ$. The perturbation $μ$ is a compactly supported measure in $\mathbb R^n$ with dimension $α> n-(1+\frac{1}{n-1})$. The main intermediate step is a local decay estimate in $L^2(μ)$ for both the free and perturbed Schrödinger evolution.
In this paper, we prove global in time Strichartz estimates for the fractional Schrödinger operators, namely $e^{-itΛ_g^σ}$ with $σ\in (0,\infty)\backslash \{1\}$ and $Λ_g:=\sqrt{-Δ_g}$ where $Δ_g$ is the Laplace-Beltrami operator on asymptotically Euclidean manifolds $(\mathbb{R}^d,g)$. Let $f_0\in C^\infty_0(\mathbb{R})$ be a smooth cutoff equal 1 near zero. We firstly show that the high frequency part $(1-f_0)(P)e^{-itΛ_g^σ}$ satisfies global in time Strichartz estimates as on $\mathbb{R}^d$ of dimension $d\geq 2$ inside a compact set under non-trapping condition. On the other hand, under t…
In this paper we consider magnetic Schrödinger operators in R^n, n \ge 3. Under almost optimal conditions on the potentials in terms of decay and regularity we prove smoothing and Strichartz estimates, as well as a limiting absorption principle. For large gradient perturbations the latter is not a corollary of the free case as the differentiated free resolvent does not have small operator norm on any weighted L^2 spaces. We instead show that the spectral radius of such operators decreases to zero, hence their perturbation of the identity is still invertible. The key estimates are based on an a…
We consider the gravity-capillary waves in any dimension and in fluid domains with general bottoms. Using the paradiferential reduction established in the companion paper, we prove Strichartz estimates for solutions to this problem, at a low regularity level such that initially, the velocity field can be non-Lipschitz up to the free surface. We then use those estimates to solve the Cauchy problem at this level of regularity.
We consider the wave equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions in the exterior of a cylinder in R 3 and we construct a global in time parametrix to derive sharp dispersion estimates for all frequencies (low and high) and, as a corollary, Strichartz estimates, all matching the R 3 case.
We establish a mixed-norm Strichartz type estimate for the wave equation on Riemannian manifolds $(Ω,g)$, for the case that $Ω$ is the exterior of a smooth, normally hyperbolic trapped obstacle in $n$ dimensional Euclidean space, and $n$ is a positive odd integer. As for the normally hyperbolic trapped obstacles, we will some loss of derivatives for data in the local energy decay estimate. Hence the global Strichartz estimate has a derivative loss. However, we can show that the forcing term is bounded by the sum of no more than two Lebesgue $(p,q)$ mixed norms.
In this paper, we explore the relations between different kinds of Strichartz estimates and give new estimates in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$. In particular, we prove the generalized and weighted Strichartz estimates for a large class of dispersive operators including the Schrödinger and wave equation. As a sample application of these new estimates, we are able to prove the Strauss conjecture with low regularity for dimension 2 and 3.
Consider a conical singular space $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ with the metric $g=\mathrm{d}r^2+r^2h$, where the cross section $Y$ is a compact $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. We study the Klein-Gordon equations with inverse-square potentials in the space $X$, proving in particular global-in-time Strichartz estimates in this setting.
Doi proved that the $L^2_t H^{1/2}_x$ local smoothing effect for Schrödinger equation on a Riemannian manifold does not hold if the geodesic flow has one trapped trajectory. We show in contrast that Strichartz estimates and $L^1\to L^\infty$ dispersive estimates still hold without loss for $e^{itΔ}$ in various situations where the trapped set is hyperbolic and of sufficiently small fractal dimension.
In this paper, we show that certain local Strichartz estimates for solutions of the wave equation exterior to a convex obstacle can be extended to estimates that are global in both space and time. This extends the work that was done previously by H. Smith and C. Sogge in odd spatial dimensions.
We prove inverse Strichartz theorems at $L^2$ regularity for a family of Schrödinger evolutions in one space dimension. Prior results rely on spacetime Fourier analysis and are limited to the translation-invariant equation $i\partial_t u = -\tfrac{1}{2} Δu$. Motivated by applications to the mass-critical Schrödinger equation with external potentials (such as the harmonic oscillator) we use a physical space approach.
In this paper we study global-in-time, weighted Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on warped product spaces in dimension $n\geq3$. In particular, we prove estimates for the dynamics restricted to eigenspaces of the Dirac operator on the compact spin manifolds defining the ambient manifold under some explicit sufficient condition on the metric, and estimates with loss of angular derivatives for general initial data in the setting of spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat manifolds.
For Schrödinger equations with a class of slowly decaying repulsive potentials, we show that the solution satisfies global-in-time Strichartz estimates for any admissible pairs. Our admissible class of potentials includes the positive homogeneous potential $Z|x|^{-μ}$ with $Z>0$ and $0<μ<2$ in three and higher dimensions, especially the repulsive Coulomb potential. The proof employs several techniques from scattering theory such as the long time parametrix construction of Isozaki-Kitada type, propagation estimates and local decay estimates.
