Consider a conical singular space $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ with the metric $g=\mathrm{d}r^2+r^2h$, where the cross section $Y$ is a compact $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. We study the Klein-Gordon equations with inverse-square potentials in the space $X$, proving in particular global-in-time Strichartz estimates in this setting.
We study linear Klein-Gordon equations with moving potentials motivated by the stability analysis of traveling waves and multi-solitons. In this paper, Strichartz estimates, local energy decay and the scattering theory for these models are established. The results and estimates obtained in this paper will be used to study the interaction of solitons and the stability of multisolitons of nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations.
In this {\bf draft version} we prove inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates with spherical symmetry in the abstract setting via duality arguments. Then we derive some new explicit estimates in the context of the wave equation. This allows us to prove global existence of spherically symmetric solutions to the Dirac-Klein-Gordon (DKG) system in two space dimensions.
We prove weighted $L^2$ estimates for the Klein-Gordon equation perturbed with singular potentials such as the inverse-square potential. We then deduce the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for this equation with small perturbations, and go on to discuss local smoothing and Strichartz estimates which improve previously known ones.
In this paper we study Strichartz estimates for the half wave, the half Klein-Gordon and the Dirac Equations on compact manifolds without boundary, proving in particular for each of these flows local in time estimates both for the wave and Schroedinger admissible couples (in this latter case with an additional loss of regularity). The strategy for the proof is based on a refined version of the WKB approximation.
We study the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation on a product space $M=\R\times X$ with metric $\tilde{g}=dt^2-g$ where $g$ is the scattering metic on $X$. We establish the global-in-time Strichartz estimate for Klein-Gordon equation without loss of derivative by using the microlocalized spectral measure of Laplacian on scattering manifold showed in \cite{HZ} and a Littlewood-Paley squarefunction estimate proved in \cite{Zhang}. We prove the global existence and scattering for a family of nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations for small initial data with minimum regularity on this setting.
In this paper we prove standard and reversed Strichartz estimates for the Klein--Gordon equation in $\mathbb{R}^{3+1}$. Instead of the Fourier theory, our analysis is based on fundamental solutions of the free equations and fractional integrations. In the final part of this paper, we apply Strichartz estimates in the study of a semilinear Klein--Gordon equation.
In this paper we prove Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on asymptotically flat manifolds. The proof combines the weak dispersive estimates proved by the first two authors with the Strichartz and smoothing estimates for the wave and Klein-Gordon flows, exploiting some recent results in the same geometrical setting.
We demonstrate a family of Strichartz estimates for the conformally invariant Klein-Gordon equation on a class of asymptotically de Sitter spaces with C^2 metrics by using well-known local Strichartz estimates and a rescaling argument. This class of metrics includes de Sitter space. We also give an application of the estimates to a semilinear Klein-Gordon equation on these spaces.
In this paper, we investigate Strichartz estimates for discrete linear Schrödinger and discrete linear Klein-Gordon equations on a lattice $h\mathbb{Z}^d$ with $h>0$, where $h$ is the distance between two adjacent lattice points. As for fixed $h>0$, Strichartz estimates for discrete Schrödinger and one-dimensional discrete Klein-Gordon equations are established by Stefanov-Kevrekidis \cite{SK2005}. Our main result shows that such inequalities hold uniformly in $h\in(0,1]$ with additional fractional derivatives on the right hand side. As an application, we obtain local well-posedness of a discr…
In this paper, we prove the exponential decay of local energy for the Klein-Gordon equation with localized critical nonlinearity. The proof relies on generalized Strichartz estimates, and semi-group of Lax-Phillips.
We prove Strichartz estimates for Maxwell equations in media in the fully anisotropic case with Hölder-continuous coefficients. To this end, we use the FBI transform to conjugate the problem to phase space. After reducing to a scalar estimate by means of a matrix symmetrizer, we show oscillatory integral estimates for a variable-coefficient Fourier extension operator. The characteristic surface has conical singularities for any non-vanishing time frequency. Combined with energy estimates, we improve the local well-posedness for certain fully anisotropic quasilinear Maxwell equations.
We prove generalized Strichartz estimates for wave and massless Dirac equations in Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields. Following a well established strategy to deal with scaling critical perturbations of dispersive PDEs, we make use of Hankel transform and rely on some precise estimates on Bessel functions. As a complementary result, we prove a local smoothing estimate for the Klein-Gordon equation in the same magnetic field.
We prove small energy scattering for the 3D Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system with radial symmetry. The idea of proof is the same as the Zakharov system studied in \cite{GN}, namely to combine the normal form reduction and the radial-improved Strichartz estimates
The Klein-Gordon - Schroedinger system with Yukawa coupling is shown to have a unique global solution for rough data, which not necessarily have finite energy. The proof uses a generalized bilinear estimate of Strichartz type and Bourgain's idea to split the data into low and high frequency parts.
This paper is devoted to study the dispersive properties of the linear Klein-Gordon and wave equations on a class of locally symmetric spaces. As a consequence, we obtain the Strichartz estimate and prove global well-posedness results for the corresponding semilinear equation with low regularity data as on real hyperbolic spaces.
We prove Strichartz estimates with a loss of derivatives for the Schrödinger equation on polygonal domains with either Dirichlet or Neumann homogeneous boundary conditions. Using a standard doubling procedure, estimates the on polygon follow from those on Euclidean surfaces with conical singularities. We develop a Littlewood-Paley squarefunction estimate with respect to the spectrum of the Laplacian on these spaces. This allows us to reduce matters to proving estimates at each frequency scale. The problem can be localized in space provided the time intervals are sufficiently small. Strichartz …
This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem of $2$D Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system with very low regularity initial data. We prove the bilinear estimates which are crucial to get the local in time well-posedness. The estimates are established by the Fourier restriction norm method. We utilize the bilinear Strichartz estimates and the nonlinear version of the classical Loomis-Whitney inequality which was applied to Zakharov system.
We prove global Strichartz inequalities for the Schrödinger equation on a large class of asymptotically conical manifolds. Letting $ P $ be the nonnegative Laplace operator and $ f_0 \in C_0^{\infty}({\mathbb R}) $ be a smooth cutoff equal to $1$ near zero, we show first that the low frequency part of any solution $ e^{-itP} u_0 $, i.e. $ f_0 (P) e^{-itP} u_0 $, enjoys the same global Strichartz estimates as on $ {\mathbb R}^n $ in dimension $ n \geq 3 $. We also show that the high energy part $ (1-f_0)(P) e^{-itP} u_0$ also satisfies global Strichartz estimates without loss of derivatives out…
We study the non relativistic and ultra relativistic limits in the two-dimensional nonlinear damped Klein-Gordon equation driven by a space-time white noise on the torus. In order to take the limits, it is crucial to clarify the parameter dependence in the estimates of solution. In this paper we present two methods to confirm this parameter dependence. One is the classical, simple energy method. Another is the method via Strichartz estimates.
In this paper we prove well posedness for a system coupling a nonlinear Dirac with a Klein-Gordon equation that represents a toy model for the Helium atom with relativistic corrections: the wave function of the electrons interacts with an electric field generated by a nucleus with a given charge density. One of the main ingredients we need is a new family of Strichartz estimates for time dependent perturbations of the Dirac equation: these represent a result of independent interest.
We prove existence and multiplicity of Cantor families of small amplitude time periodic solutions of completely resonant Klein-Gordon equations on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^3$ with quadratic, cubic and quintic nonlinearity, regarded as toy models in General Relativity. The solutions are obtained by a variational Lyapunov- Schmidt decomposition, which reduces the problem to the search of mountain pass critical points of a restricted Euler-Lagrange action functional. Compactness properties of its gradient are obtained by Strichartz-type estimates for the solutions of the linear Klein-Gordon equatio…
The scattering problem for the Klein-Gordon equation with cubic convolution nonlinearity is considered. Based on the Strichartz estimates for the inhomogeneous Klein-Gordon equation we prove the existence of the scattering operator.
We establish global well-posedness and scattering for the cubic Dirac equation for small data in the critical space $H^1(\mathbb{R}^3)$. The main ingredient is obtaining a sharp end-point Strichartz estimate for the Klein-Gordon equation. In a classical sense this fails and it is related to the failure of the endpoint Strichartz estimate for the wave equation in space dimension three. In this paper, systems of coordinate frames are constructed in which endpoint Strichartz estimates are recovered and energy estimates are established.
We establish new Strichartz estimates for orthonormal families of initial data in the case of the wave, Klein-Gordon and fractional Schrödinger equations. Our estimates extend those of Frank-Sabin in the case of the wave and Klein-Gordon equations, and generalize work of Frank-Lewin-Lieb-Seiringer and Frank-Sabin for the Schrödinger equation. Due to a certain technical barrier, except for the classical Schrödinger equation, the Strichartz estimates for orthonormal families of initial data have not previously been established up to the sharp summability exponents in the full range of admissible…
In this article we prove a family of local (in time) weighted Strichartz estimates with derivative losses for the Klein-Gordon equation on asymptotically de Sitter spaces and provide a heuristic argument for the non-existence of a global dispersive estimate on these spaces. The weights in the estimates depend on the mass parameter and disappear in the "large mass" regime. We also provide an application of these estimates to establish small-data global existence for a class of semilinear equations on these spaces.
We prove global smoothing and Strichartz estimates for the Schroedinger, wave, Klein-Gordon equations and for the massless and massive Dirac systems, perturbed with singular electromagnetic potentials. We impose a smallness condition on the magnetic part, while the electric part can be large. The decay and regularity assumptions on the coefficients are close to critical.
The Cauchy problem for the classical Dirac-Klein-Gordon system in two space dimensions is globally well-posed for L^2 Schoedinger data and wave data in H^{1/2} \times H^{-1/2}. In the case of smooth data there exists a global smooth (classical) solution. The proof uses function spaces of Bourgain type based on Besov spaces - previously applied by Colliander, Kenig and Staffilani for generalized Benjamin-Ono equations and also by Bejenaru, Herr, Holmer and Tataru for the 2D Zakharov system - and the null structure of the system detected by d'Ancona, Foschi and Selberg, and a refined bilinear St…
We establish a sharp bilinear estimate for the Klein--Gordon propagator in the spirit of recent work of Beltran--Vega. Our approach is inspired by work in the setting of the wave equation due to Bez, Jeavons and Ozawa. As a consequence of our main bilinear estimate, we deduce several sharp estimates of null-form type and recover some sharp Strichartz estimates found by Quilodrán and Jeavons.
We prove a sharp bilinear inequality for the Klein-Gordon equation on $\sr^{d+1}$, for any $d \geq 2$. This extends work of Ozawa-Rogers and Quilodrán for the Klein-Gordon equation and generalises work of Bez-Rogers for the wave equation. As a consequence we obtain a sharp Strichartz estimate for the solution of the Klein-Gordon equation in five spatial dimensions for data belonging to $H^1$. We show that maximisers for this estimate do not exist and that any maximising sequence of initial data concentrates at spatial infinity.
Let $H$ be a selfadjoint operator and $A$ a closed operator on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. If $A$ is $H$-(super)smooth in the sense of Kato-Yajima, we prove that $AH^{-\frac14}$ is $\sqrt{H}$-(super)smooth. This allows to include wave and Klein-Gordon equations in the abstract theory at the same level of generality as Schrödinger equations. We give a few applications and in particular, based on the resolvent estimates of Erdogan, Goldberg and Schlag \cite{ErdoganGoldbergSchlag09-a}, we prove Strichartz estimates for wave equations perturbed with large magnetic potentials on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$…
In this paper we prove global well-posedness and modified scattering for the massive Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equation in the Coulomb gauge on $\mathbb{R}^{1+d}$ $(d \geq 4)$ for data with small critical Sobolev norm. This extends to the general case $ m^2 > 0 $ the results of Krieger-Sterbenz-Tataru ($d=4,5 $) and Rodnianski-Tao ($ d \geq 6 $), who considered the case $ m=0$. We proceed by generalizing the global parametrix construction for the covariant wave operator and the functional framework from the massless case to the Klein-Gordon setting. The equation exhibits a trilinear cancelation str…
We prove a sharp resolvent estimate in scale invariant norms of Amgon--Hörmander type for a magnetic Schrödinger operator on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, $n\ge3$\begin{equation*} L=-(\partial+iA)^{2}+V \end{equation*}with large potentials $A,V$ of almost critical decay and regularity. The estimate is applied to prove sharp smoothing and Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger, wave and Klein--Gordon flows associated to $L$.
We show that in dimensions $n \geq 6$ that one has global regularity for the Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equations in the Coulomb gauge provided that the critical Sobolev norm $\dot H^{n/2-1} \times \dot H^{n/2-2}$ of the initial data is sufficiently small. These results are analogous to those recently obtained for the high-dimensional wave map equation but unlike the wave map equation, the Coulomb gauge non-linearity cannot be iterated away directly. We shall use a different approach, proving Strichartz estimates for the covariant wave equation. This in turn will be achieved by use of Littlewood-Pal…
Focusing on multi-solitons for the Klein-Gordon equations, in first part of this paper, we establish their conditional asymptotic stability. In the second part of this paper, we classify pure multi-solitons which are solutions converging to multi-solitons in the energy space as $t\rightarrow\infty$. Using Strichartz estimates developed in our earlier work \cite{CJ2} and the modulation techniques, we show that if a solution stays close to the multi-soliton family, then it scatters to the multi-soliton family in the sense that the solution will converge in large time to a superposition of Lorent…
We consider the Klein--Gordon equation associated with the Laplace--Beltrami operator $Δ$ on real hyperbolic spaces of dimension $n\!\ge\!2$; as $Δ$ has a spectral gap, the wave equation is a particular case of our study. After a careful kernel analysis, we obtain dispersive and Strichartz estimates for a large family of admissible couples. As an application, we prove global well--posedness results for the corresponding semilinear equation with low regularity data.
We study the Cauchy problem for the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in spatial dimension $d \ge 4$ with radial or non-radial initial datum $(u, \partial_t u, n, \partial_t n)|_{t=0}\in H^{s+1}(\mathbb{R}^d) \times H^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^d) \times \dot{H}^{s-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. The critical value of $s$ is $s=s_c=d/2-2$. If the initial datum is radial, then we prove the small data global well-posedness and scattering at the critical space in $d \ge 4$ by applying the radial Strichartz estimates and $U^2, V^2$ type spaces. On the other hand, if the initial datum is non-radial,…
We consider the periodic defocusing cubic nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in three dimensions in the symplectic phase space $H^{\frac{1}{2}}(\mathbb{T}^3) \times H^{-\frac{1}{2}}(\mathbb{T}^3)$. This space is at the critical regularity for this equation, and in this setting there is no global well-posedness nor any uniform control on the local time of existence for arbitrary initial data. We prove a local-in-time non-squeezing result and a conditional global-in-time result which states that uniform bounds on the Strichartz norms of solutions imply global-in-time non-squeezing. As a consequence…
We consider the Dirac equation with cubic Hartree-type nonlinearity derived by uncoupling the Dirac-Klein-Gordon systems. We prove small data scattering result in full subcritical range. Main ingredients of the proof are the localized Strichartz estimates, improved bilinear estimates thanks to null-structure hidden in Dirac operator and $Up,Vp$ function spaces. We apply the projection operator and get a system which of linear part is the Klein-Gordon type. It enables us to exploit the null-structures in equation. This result is shown to be almost optimal by showing that iteration method based …
We show that the Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equations in three dimensions are globally well-posed in $H^s_x$ in the Coulomb gauge for all $s > \sqrt{3}/2 \approx 0.866$. This extends previous work of Klainerman-Machedon \cite{kl-mac:mkg} on finite energy data $s \geq 1$, and Eardley-Moncrief \cite{eardley} for still smoother data. We use the method of almost conservation laws, sometimes called the "I-method", to construct an almost conserved quantity based on the Hamiltonian, but at the regularity of $H^s_x$ rather than $H^1_x$. One then uses Strichartz, null form, and commutator estimates to contro…
We study the $L^1\to L^\infty$-decay estimates for dispersive equations in the Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields, and further prove Strichartz estimates for the Klein-Gordon equation with critical electromagnetic potentials. The novel ingredients are the construction of Schwartz kernels of the spectral measure and heat propagator for the Schrödinger operator in Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields. In particular, we explicitly construct the representation of the spectral measure and resolvent of the Schrödinger operator with Aharonov-Bohm potentials, and show that the heat kernel in critical electromagne…
We establish sharp time decay estimates for the the Klein-Gordon equation on the cubic lattice in dimensions $d=2,3,4$. The $\ell^1\to\ell^{\infty}$ dispersive decay rate is $|t|^{-3/4}$ for $d=2$, $|t|^{-7/6}$ for $d=3$ and $|t|^{-3/2}\log|t|$ for $d=4$. These decay rates are faster than conjectured by Kevrekidis and Stefanov (2005). The proof relies on oscillatory integral estimates and proceeds by a detailed analysis of the the singularities of the associated phase function. We also prove new Strichartz estimates and discuss applications to nonlinear PDEs and spectral theory.
The Cauchy problem for the cubic nonlinear Dirac equation in two space dimensions is locally well-posed for data in H^s for s > 1/2. The proof given in spaces of Bourgain-Klainerman-Machedon type relies on the null structure of the nonlinearity as used by d'Ancona-Foschi-Selberg for the Dirac-Klein-Gordon system before and bilinear Strichartz type estimates for the wave equation by Selberg and Foschi-Klainerman.
We investigate existence and asymptotic completeness of the wave operators for nonlinear Klein-Gordon and Schrödinger equations with a defocusing exponential nonlinearity in two space dimensions. A certain threshold is defined based on the value of the conserved Hamiltonian, below which the exponential potential energy is dominated by the kinetic energy via a Trudinger-Moser type inequality. We prove that if the energy is below or equal to the critical value, then the solution approaches a free Klein-Gordon solution at the time infinity. The interesting feature in the critical case is that the…
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for Klein-Gordon equation with a cubic convolution nonlinearity in $\R^3$. By making use of Bourgain's method in conjunction with a precise Strichartz estimate of S.Klainerman and D.Tataru, we establish the $H^s (s<1)$ global well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the cubic convolution defocusing Klein-Gordon-Hartree equation. Before arriving at the previously discussed conclusion, we obtain global solution for this non-scaling equation with small initial data in $H^{s_0}\times H^{s_0-1}$ where $s_0=\fracγ6$ but not $\frac\gamma2-1$, for this equ…
This paper proposes a fairly general new point of view on the question of asymptotic stability of (topological) solitons. Our approach is based on the use of the distorted Fourier transform at the nonlinear level; it does not rely on Strichartz or virial estimates and is therefore able to treat low power nonlinearities (hence also non-localized solitons) and capture the global (in space and time) behavior of solutions. More specifically, we consider quadratic nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations with a potential in one space dimension. The potential is assumed to be regular, decaying, and either g…
This paper deals with the Klein-Gordon equation on the Poincaré chart of the 5-dimensional Anti-de Sitter universe. When the mass $μ$ is larger than $-{1}{4}$, the Cauchy problem is well posed despite the loss of global hyperbolicity due to the time-like horizon. We express the finite energy solutions in the form of a continuous Kaluza-Klein tower and we deduce a uniform decay as $\mid t\mid^{-{3}{2}}$. We investigate the case $μ={ν^2-1}{2}$, $ν\in\NN^*$, which encompasses the gravitational fluctuations, $ν=4$, and the electromagnetic waves, $ν=2$. The propagation of the wave front set shows t…
