We investigate existence and asymptotic completeness of the wave operators for nonlinear Klein-Gordon and Schrödinger equations with a defocusing exponential nonlinearity in two space dimensions. A certain threshold is defined based on the value of the conserved Hamiltonian, below which the exponential potential energy is dominated by the kinetic energy via a Trudinger-Moser type inequality.
We prove that if the energy is below or equal to the critical value, then the solution approaches a free Klein-Gordon solution at the time infinity. The interesting feature in the critical case is that the Strichartz estimate together with Sobolev-type inequalities can not control the nonlinear term uniformly on each time interval, but with constants depending on how much the solution is concentrated. Thus we have to trace concentration of the energy along time, in order to set up favorable nonlinear estimates, and then to implement Bourgain's induction argument. We show the same result for the "subcritical" nonlinear Schrödinger equation.
In this note we prove scattering for a defocusing nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation with initial data lying in a critical Besov space. In addition, we obtain polynomial bounds on the scattering size as a function of the critical Besov norm.
We show that the scattering operator for defocusing energy critical semilinear wave equations \square u+f(u)=0, with f C-infinity and f ~ u^5, in three space dimensions, determines f.
We prove scattering for a massless wave equation which is critical in two space dimensions. Our method combines conformal inversion with decay estimates from Struwe's previous work on global existence of a similar equation.
We prove scattering below the ground state threshold for an energy-critical inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation in three space dimensions. In particular, we extend results of Cho, Hong, and Lee from the radial to the non-radial setting.
We consider the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with double nonlinearities with opposite sign, with one term is mass-critical and the other term is mass-supercritical and energy-subcritical, which includes the famous two-dimensional cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equaton. We prove global wellposedness and scattering in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^d)$ below the threshold for non-radial data when $1 \le d \le 4$.
In this paper we prove that the defocusing, mass - critical generalized KdV initial value problem is globally well-posed and scattering for $u_{0} \in L^{2}(\mathbf{R})$. We prove this via a concentration compactness argument.
We study the scattering problem for the nonlinear wave equation with potential. In the absence of the potential, one has sharp existence results for the Cauchy problem with small initial data; those require the data to decay at a rate greater than or equal to a critical decay rate which depends on the order of the nonlinearity. However, scattering results have appeared only for the supercritical case. In this paper, we extend the scattering results to the critical case and we also allow the presence of a short-range potential.
We consider a class of power-type nonlinear Schrödinger equations for which the power of the nonlinearity lies between the mass- and energy-critical exponents. Following the concentration-compactness approach, we prove that if a solution $u$ is bounded in the critical Sobolev space throughout its lifespan, that is, $u\in L_t^\infty \dot{H}_x^{s_c}$, then $u$ is global and scatters.
In this paper we prove that the energy - critical nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation in the domain exterior to a convex obstacle is globally well - posed and scattering for initial data having finite energy. To prove this we utilize frequency localized Morawetz estimates adapted to an exterior domain.
In this paper, we study the critical norm conjecture for the inter-critical nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation with critical index $s_c$ satisfying $\frac{1}{2}<s_c<1$ when $d\geq 5$. Under the assumption of uniform boundedness of the critical norm, we prove the global well-posedness and scattering for the Cauchy problem. We follow the standard `Concentration compactness/Rigidity method' established in \cite{KenigMerle1,KenigMerle2}, and treat three scenarios for the critical element respectively. Moreover, double Duhamel method and interaction Morawetz estimate are applied to exclude the critic…
We prove almost sure global existence and scattering for the energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with randomized spherically symmetric initial data in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^4)$ with $\frac56<s<1$. We were inspired to consider this problem by the recent work of Dodson--Lührmann--Mendelson, which treated the analogous problem for the energy-critical wave equation.
We consider two classes of defocusing energy-supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equations in dimensions $d\geq 5$. We prove that if the solution $u$ is apriorily bounded in the critical Sobolev space, that is, $u\in L_t^\infty \dot H^{s_c}_x$, then $u$ is global and scatters.
We extend the scattering result for the radial defocusing-focusing mass-energy double critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $d\leq 4$ given by Cheng et al. to the case $d\geq 5$. The main ingredient is a suitable long time perturbation theory which is applicable for $d\geq 5$. The paper will therefore give a full characterization on the scattering threshold for the radial defocusing-focusing mass-energy double critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in all dimensions $d\geq 3$.
Consider the focusing energy-critical wave equation in space dimension 3, 4 or 5. We prove that any global solution which is bounded in the energy space converges in the exterior of wave cones to a radiation term which is a solution of the linear wave equation.
In this paper we prove global well - posedness and scattering for the focusing, energy - critical nonlinear Schrödinger initial value problem in four dimensions. Previous work proved this in five dimensions and higher using the double Duhamel trick. In this paper, using long time Strichartz estimates we are able to overcome the logarithmic blowup in four dimensions.
In this paper we prove that the defocusing, quintic nonlinear Schrödinger initial value problem is globally well-posed and scattering for $u_{0} \in L^{2}(\mathbf{R})$. To do this, we will prove a frequency localized interaction Morawetz estimate similar to the estimate made in [11]. Since we are considering an $L^{2}$ - critical initial value problem we will localize to low frequencies.
In this paper we prove that the defocusing, $d$-dimensional mass critical nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger initial value problem is globally well-posed and scattering for $u_{0} \in L^{2}(\mathbf{R}^{d})$ and $d \geq 3$. To do this, we will prove a frequency localized interaction Morawetz estimate similar to the estimate made in [10]. Since we are considering an $L^{2}$ - critical initial value problem we will localize to low frequencies.
We consider large time behavior of solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a homogeneous nonlinearity of the critical order which is not necessarily a polynomial. We treat the case in which the nonlinearity contains non-oscillating factor $|u|^{1+2/d}$. The case is excluded in our previous studies. It turns out that there are no solutions that behave like a free solution with or without logarithmic phase corrections. We also prove nonexistence of an asymptotic free solution in the case that the gauge invariant nonlinearity is dominant, and give a finite time blow-up result.
We consider the energy-critical defocusing nonlinear wave equation on $\mathbb{R}^4$ and establish almost sure global existence and scattering for randomized radially symmetric initial data in $H^s_x(\mathbb{R}^4) \times H^{s-1}_x(\mathbb{R}^4)$ for $\frac{1}{2} < s < 1$. This is the first almost sure scattering result for an energy-critical dispersive or hyperbolic equation with scaling super-critical initial data. The proof is based on the introduction of an approximate Morawetz estimate to the random data setting and new large deviation estimates for the free wave evolution of randomized ra…
In this paper we consider the real-valued mass-critical nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations in three and higher dimensions. We prove the dichotomy between scattering and blow-up below the ground state energy in the focusing case, and the energy scattering in the defocusing case. We use the concentration-compactness/rigidity method as R. Killip, B. Stovall, and M. Visan [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 364 (2012)]. The main new novelty is to approximate the large scale (low-frequency) profile by the solution of the mass-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation when the nonlinearity is not algebraic.
In this paper we prove that the cubic wave equation is globally well - posed and scattering for radial initial data lying in $B_{1,1}^{2} \times B_{1,1}^{1}$. This space of functions is a scale invariant subspace of $\dot{H}^{1/2} \times \dot{H}^{-1/2}$.
In this article, we consider the infinite dimensional vector-valued resonant nonlinear Schrödinger system, which arises from the study of the asymptotic behavior of the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation on "wave guide" manifolds like $\mathbb{R}^2\times \mathbb{T}$ in [7]. We show global well-posedness and scattering for this system by long time Strichartz estimates and frequency localized interaction Morawetz estimates. As a by-product, our results make the arguments of scattering theory in [7] closed as crucial ingredients for compactness of the critical elements.
We obtain global well-posedness, scattering, uniform regularity, and global $L^6_{t,x}$ spacetime bounds for energy-space solutions to the defocusing energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in $\R\times\R^4$. Our arguments closely follow those of Colliander-Keel-Staffilani-Takaoka-Tao, though our derivation of the frequency-localized interaction Morawetz estimate is somewhat simpler. As a consequence, our method yields a better bound on the $L^6_{t,x}$-norm.
We study the energy-critical focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with an energy- subcritical perturbation. We show the existence of a ground state in the four or higher dimensions. Moreover, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for a solution to scatter, in the spirit of Kenig-Merle [16].
In this paper, we study the almost sure scattering for the Klein-Gordon equations with Sobolev critical power. We obtain the almost sure scattering with random initial data in $H^s \times H^{s-1}$; $11/12 < s < 1$ for $d = 4$, $15/16 < s < 1$ for $d = 5$. We use the induction on scales and bushes argument in [9] where the model equation is wave equation. For d = 5, we use the mass term of the Klein-Gordon equation to obtain the control of the increment of energy in the process of induction on scales.
In this article, we establish in the radial framework the $H^1$-scattering for the critical 2-D nonlinear Schrödinger equation with exponential growth. Our strategy relies on both the a priori estimate derived in \cite{CGT, PV} and the characterization of the lack of compactness of the Sobolev embedding of $H_{rad}^1(\R^2)$ into the critical Orlicz space ${\cL}(\R^2)$ settled in \cite{BMM}. The radial setting, and particularly the fact that we deal with bounded functions far away from the origin, occurs in a crucial way in our approach.
In the present paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with a derivative nonlinearity which depends only on $\bar{u}$. The well-posedness of the equation at the scaling subcritical regularity was proved by A. Grünrock (2000). We prove the well-posedness of the equation and the scattering for the solution at the scaling critical regularity by using $U^{2}$ space and $V^{2}$ space which are applied to prove the well-posedness and the scattering for KP-II equation at the scaling critical regularity by Hadac, Herr and Koch (2009).
We consider Cauchy problem of the Hartree-type nonlinear Dirac equation with potentials given by $V_b(x) = \frac1{4π}\frac{e^{-b|x|}}{|x|}\, (b \ge 0)$. In previous works, a standard argument is to utilise null form estimates in order to prove global well-posedness for $H^s$-data, $s>0$. However, the null structure inside the equations is not enough to attain the critical regularity. We impose an extra regularity assumption with respect to the angular variable. Firstly, we prove global well-posedness and scattering of Dirac equations with Hartree-type nonlinearity for $b>0$ for small $L^2_x$-d…
In this paper, we study the defocusing energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations $$ i\partial_t u + Δu = |u|^{\frac{4}{d-2}} u. $$ When $d=3,4$, we prove the almost sure scattering for the equations with non-radial data in $H_x^s$ for any $s\in\mathbb{R}$. In particular, our result does not rely on any spherical symmetry, size or regularity restrictions.
In this paper, we consider the energy critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a repulsive inverse square potential. In particular, we deal with radial initial data, whose energy is equal to the energy of static solution to the corresponding nonlinear Schrödinger equation without a potential. We investigate time behavior of the radial solutions with such initial data.
Scattering for the mass-critical fractional Schrödinger equation with a cubic Hartree-type nonlinearity for initial data in a small ball in the scale-invariant space of three-dimensional radial and square-integrable initial data is established. For this, we prove a bilinear estimate for free solutions and extend it to perturbations of bounded quadratic variation. This result is shown to be sharp by proving the unboundedness of a third order derivative of the flow map in the super-critical range.
In this paper we prove that the defocusing, cubic nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger initial value problem is globally well-posed and scattering for $u_{0} \in L^{2}(\mathbf{R}^{2})$. To do this, we will prove a frequency localized interaction Morawetz estimate similar to the estimate made in \cite{CKSTT4}. Since we are considering an $L^{2}$ - critical initial value problem we will localize to low frequencies.
We show that the solutions of the three-dimensional critical defocusing nonlinear wave equation with Neumann boundary conditions outside a ball and radial initial data scatter. This is to our knowledge the first result of scattering for a nonlinear wave equation with Neumann boundary conditions. Our proof uses the scheme of concentration-compactness/rigidity introduced by Kenig and Merle, extending it to our setup, together with the so-called channels of energy method to rule out compact-flow solutions. We also obtain, for the focusing equation, the same exact scattering/blow-up dichotomy belo…
In this paper, we consider the Maxwell-Dirac system in 3 dimension under zero magnetic field. We prove the global well-posedness and modified scattering for small solutions in the weighted Sobolev class. Imposing the Lorenz gauge condition, (and taking the Dirac projection operator), it becomes a system of Dirac equations with Hartree type nonlinearity with a long range potential as $|x|^{-1} $. We perform the weighted energy estimates. In this procedure, we have to deal with various resonance functions that stem from the Dirac projections. We use the spacetime resonance argument of Germain-Ma…
We consider the Cauchy problem for semilinear wave equations with variable coefficients and time-dependent scattering damping in $\mathbf{R}^n$, where $n\geq 2$. It is expected that the critical exponent will be Strauss' number $p_0(n)$, which is also the one for semilinear wave equations without damping terms. Lai and Takamura (2018) have obtained the blow-up part, together with the upper bound of lifespan, in the sub-critical case $p<p_0(n)$. In this paper, we extend their results to the critical case $p=p_0(n)$. The proof is based on Wakasa and Yordanov (2018), which concerns the blow-up an…
We consider the defocusing energy-critical NLS in the exterior of the unit ball in three dimensions. For the initial value problem with Dirichlet boundary condition we prove global well-posedness and scattering with large radial initial data in the Sobolev space $\dot H_0^1$. We also point out that the same strategy can be used to treat the energy-supercritical NLS in the exterior of balls with Dirichlet boundary condition and radial $\dot H_0^1$ initial data.
We use modified scattering theory to demonstrate that small-data solutions to the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation on rescaled waveguide manifolds, $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{T}^d$ for $d\geq 2$, demonstrate boundedness of Sobolev norms as well as weak instability.
We consider nonlinear Schrödinger equations with either power-type or Hartree nonlinearity in the presence of an external potential. We show that for long-range nonlinearities, solutions cannot exhibit scattering to solitary waves or more general localized waves. This extends the well-known results concerning non-existence of non-trivial scattering states for long-range nonlinearities.
In this paper we prove that the cubic wave equation is globally well - posed and scattering for radial initial data lying in a slightly supercritical Sobolev space, and a weighted Sobolev space.
In this paper we prove global well-posedness and scattering for the defocusing, cubic, nonlinear wave equation on $\mathbf{R}^{1 + 3}$ with radial initial data lying in the critical Sobolev space $\dot{H}^{1/2}(\mathbf{R}^{3}) \times \dot{H}^{-1/2}(\mathbf{R}^{3})$.

We consider the mass-subcritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in all space dimensions with focusing or defocusing nonlinearity. For such equations with critical regularity $s_c\in(\max\{-1,-\frac{d}{2}\},0)$, we prove that any solution satisfying $\|\, |x|^{|s_c|}e^{-itΔ} u\|_{L_t^\infty L_x^2} <\infty$ on its maximal interval of existence must be global and scatter.
In this paper, we consider the existence and the asymptotic completeness of the wave operators for Schrodinger equations with time-dependent potentials which are short-range in space.
Consider the acoustic wave equation with unknown, not necessarily smooth, wave speed $c$. We propose and study an iterative control procedure that erases the history of a wave field up to a given depth in a medium, without any knowledge of $c$. In the context of seismic or ultrasound imaging, this can be viewed as removing multiple reflections from normal-directed wavefronts.
We establish global well-posedness and scattering for solutions to the defocusing mass-critical (pseudoconformal) nonlinear Schrödinger equation $iu_t + Δu = |u|^{4/n} u$ for large spherically symmetric $L^2_x(\R^n)$ initial data in dimensions $n\geq 3$. After using the reductions in \cite{compact} to reduce to eliminating blowup solutions which are almost periodic modulo scaling, we obtain a frequency-localized Morawetz estimate and exclude a mass evacuation scenario (somewhat analogously to \cite{ckstt:gwp}, \cite{RV}, \cite{thesis:art}) in order to conclude the argument.
We establish the local wellposedness of different type of solutions the system with different types of initial data. We find there exists a critical exponents line in space dimension 3 and critical exponents point in space dimension 4. We also establish different scattering theories for the global solutions.
We consider scattering matrix for Schrödinger-type operators on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with perturbation $V(x)=O(\langle x\rangle^{-1})$ as $|x|\to\infty$. We show that the scattering matrix (with time-independent modifiers) is a pseudodifferential operator, and analyze its spectrum. We present examples of which the spectrum of the scattering matrices have dense point spectrum, and absolutely continuous spectrum, respectively.
We prove Asymptotic Completeness of one dimensional NLS with long range nonlinearities. We also prove existence and expansion of asymptotic solutions with large data at infinity.
We establish global existence, scattering for radial solutions to the energy-critical focusing Hartree equation with energy and $\dot{H}^1$ norm less than those of the ground state in $\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^d$, $d\geq 5$.
