We describe a conjecture on the algebra of higher cohomology operations which leads to the computations of the differentials in the Adams spectral sequence. For this we introduce the notion of an n-th order track category which is suitable to study higher order Toda brackets and the differentials in spectral sequences. We describe various examples of higher order track categories which are topological, in particular the track category of higher cohomology operations. Also differential algebras give rise to higher order track categories.
In this paper we study the homotopy theory of parameterized spectrum objects in the $\infty$-category of $(\infty, 2)$-categories, as well as the Quillen cohomology of an $(\infty, 2)$-category with coefficients in such a parameterized spectrum. More precisely, we construct an analogue of the twisted arrow category for an $(\infty,2)$-category $\mathbb{C}$, which we call its twisted 2-cell $\infty$-category. We then establish an equivalence between parameterized spectrum objects over $\mathbb{C}$, and diagrams of spectra indexed by the twisted 2-cell $\infty$-category of $\mathbb{C}$. Under th…
We define a comonad cohomology of track categories and we show it is linked by a long exact sequence to its Dwyer-Kan-Smith cohomology . Under mild hypothesis on the track category, we show that its comonad cohomology coincides, up to dimension shift, with its Dwyer-Kan-Smith cohomology, therefore obtaining an algebraic formulation of the latter. We also specialize our results to the case where the track category is a $2$-groupoid.
In [1] we introduced the concept of structured space, which is a topological space that locally resembles some algebraic structures. In [2] we proceeded the study of these spaces, developing two cohomology theories. The aim of this paper is to define categories of structured spaces, (pre)sheaves with values in such categories, and generalised notions of vector bundles, ringed spaces and schemes. Then, we will construct (using some techniques and also the general method in Section 2 of [2]) various cohomology theories for these objects.
This work represents the concept of an n-groupoid $ Γ^n $ and n-characters $ χ_n $ on n-groupoids as complex-valued maps from spaces of different classes of morphisms satisfying the condition $ χ_n (ψ\circ_k φ) = χ_n (ψ) + χ_n (φ) $ for any possible compositions. A sequence of spaces of n-characters and morphisms between them is constructed and its accuracy is shown. This construction has important application for describing the derivations in a group algebras. In particular, this approach allows us to study the algebra of external derivations from a new point of view, and also to construct so…
This paper expands further on a category theoretical formulation of Hochschild cohomology for monoid objects in monoidal categories enriched over abelian groups, which has been studied in arXiv:1605.00842. This topic was also presented at ISCRA, Isfahan, Iran, April 2019. The present paper aims to provide a more intuitive formulation of the Hochschild cochain complex and extend the definition to Hochschild cohomology with values in a bimodule object. In addition, an equivalent formulation of the Hochschild cochain complex in terms of a cosimplicial object in the category of abelian groups is p…
Extending constructions by Gabriel and Zisman, we develop a functorial framework for the cohomology and homology of simplicial sets with very general coefficient systems given by functors on simplex categories into abelian categories. Furthermore we construct Leray type spectral sequences for any map of simplicial sets. We also show that these constructions generalise and unify the various existing versions of cohomology and homology of small categories and as a bonus provide new insight into their functoriality.
We develop a bundle theory of presheaves on small categories, based on similar work by Brent Everitt and Paul Turner. For a certain set of presheaves on posets, we produce a Leray-Serre type spectral sequence that gives a reduction property for the cohomology of the presheaf. This extends the usual cohomological reduction of posets with a unique maximum.
Given a rigid tensor-triangulated category and a vector space valued homological functor for which the Künneth isomorphism holds, we construct a universal graded-Tannakian category through which the given homological functor factors. We use this to (unconditionally) construct graded-Tannakian categories of pure motives associated to a fixed Weil cohomology theory, with a fiber functor realizing the given cohomology theory. For $\ell$-adic cohomology and a ground field which is algebraic over a finite field, this category is Tannakian. In this case, we obtain in particular motivic Galois groups…
We give an overview of differential cohomology from a modern, homotopy-theoretic perspective in terms of sheaves on manifolds. Although modern techniques are used, we base our discussion in the classical precursors to this modern approach, such as Chern-Weil theory and differential characters, and include the necessary background to increase accessibility. Special treatment is given to differential characteristic classes, including a differential lift of the first Pontryagin class. Multiple applications, including to configuration spaces, invertible field theories, and conformal immersions, ar…
Continuation of algebraic structures in families of dynamical systems is described using category theory, sheaves, and lattice algebras. Well-known concepts in dynamics, such as attractors or invariant sets, are formulated as functors on appropriate categories of dynamical systems mapping to categories of lattices, posets, rings or abelian groups. Sheaves are constructed from such functors, which encode data about the continuation of structure as system parameters vary. Similarly, morphisms for the sheaves in question arise from natural transformations. This framework is applied to a variety o…

In this paper, we provide a conceptual new construction of the algebraic structure on the pair of the Hochschild cohomology spectrum (cochain complex) and Hochschild homology spectrum, which is analogous to the structure of calculus on a manifold. This algebraic structure is encoded by a two-colored operad introduced by Kontsevich and Soibelman. We prove that for a stable idempotent-complete infinity-category, the pair of its Hochschild cohomology and homology spectra naturally admits the structure of algebra over the operad. Moreover, we prove a generalization to the equivariant context.
