设E是导体N的一条椭圆曲线,在Q上秩为1.因此存在定义在Q上的非常数态射X+0(N)--> E,其中X+0(N)= X 0(N)/wN,wN是模曲线X+0(N)的对合。在这个态射下,X+0(N)的Heegner点的迹映射到E上的有理点.本文研究了E(Q)上所有迹生成的子群的指数I。我们提出并讨论了一个猜想,即如果N是素数且I > 1,则实轨迹X+0(N)(R)的连通分支数大于1,或者(不太可能)Tate-Safarevich群的阶S是非平凡的.这个猜想得到了在N < 129999范围内满足上述假设的每个E上执行的计算的支持。这篇论文是为2007年5月8日至11日在图尔库举行的数学数论会议论文集而准备的。我们试图使报纸尽可能独立。
英文摘要:
Let E be an elliptic curve of conductor N and rank one over Q. So there is a non-constant morphism X+0(N) --> E defined over Q, where X+0(N) = X0(N)/wN and wN is the Fricke involution of the modular curve X+0(N). Under this morphism the traces of the Heegner points of X+0(N) map to rational points on E. In this paper we study the index I of the subgroup generated by all these traces on E(Q). We propose and also discuss a conjecture that says that if N is prime and I > 1, then either the number of connected components of the real locus X+0(N)(R) is greater than 1 or (less likely) the order S of the Tate-Safarevich group is non-trivial. This conjecture is backed by computations performed on each E that satisfies the above hypothesis in the range N < 129999. This paper was prepared for the proceedings of the Conference on Algorithmic Number Theory, Turku, May 8-11, 2007. We tried to make the paper as self contained as possible.
This paper is complementary to the work Rosen-Silverman, which derives a criteria on the number fields for the independence of Heegner points associated to them on non-CM elliptic curves. We show that the same criteria holds for CM elliptic curves. A generalisation of the independence criteria for the Heegner points associated to an order of fixed conductor of quadratic imaginary fields can also be found in this paper.
Let $E$ be an elliptic curve over $\mathbb Q$ and let $p\geq5$ be a prime of good supersingular reduction for $E$. Let $K$ be an imaginary quadratic field satisfying a modified "Heegner hypothesis" in which $p$ splits, write $K_\infty$ for the anticyclotomic $\mathbb Z_p$-extension of $K$ and let $Λ$ denote the Iwasawa algebra of $K_\infty/K$. By extending to the supersingular case the $Λ$-adic Kolyvagin method originally developed by Bertolini in the ordinary setting, we prove that Kobayashi's plus/minus $p$-primary Selmer groups of $E$ over $K_\infty$ have corank $1$ over $Λ$. As an applicat…
We establish a congruence formula between $p$-adic logarithms of Heegner points for two elliptic curves with the same mod $p$ Galois representation. As a first application, we use the congruence formula when $p=2$ to explicitly construct many quadratic twists of analytic rank zero (resp. one) for a wide class of elliptic curves $E$. We show that the number of twists of $E$ up to twisting discriminant $X$ of analytic rank zero (resp. one) is $\gg X/\log^{5/6}X$, improving the current best general bound towards Goldfeld's conjecture due to Ono--Skinner (resp. Perelli--Pomykala). We also prove th…
We propose a conjectural construction of global points on modular elliptic curves over arbitrary number fields, generalizing both the p-adic construction of Heegner points via Cerednik-Drinfeld uniformization and the definition of classical Stark-Heegner points. In alignment with Nekovar and Scholl's plectic conjectures, we expect the non-triviality of these plectic Stark-Heegner points to control the Mordell-Weil group of higher rank elliptic curves. We provide some indirect evidence for our conjectures by showing that higher order derivatives of anticyclotomic p-adic L-functions compute plec…
Given an elliptic curve $E$ over $\mathbb{Q}$, a celebrated conjecture of Goldfeld asserts that a positive proportion of its quadratic twists should have analytic rank 0 (resp. 1). We show this conjecture holds whenever $E$ has a rational 3-isogeny. We also prove the analogous result for the sextic twists of $j$-invariant 0 curves (Mordell curves). To prove these results, we establish a general criterion for the non-triviality of the $p$-adic logarithm of Heegner points at an Eisenstein prime $p$, in terms of the relative $p$-class numbers of certain number fields and then apply this criterion…
We study Heegner points on elliptic curves, or more generally modular abelian varieties, coming from uniformization by Shimura curves attached to a rather general type of quaternionic or- ders closely related to those introduced by Hijikata{Pizer{Shemanske in the 80's. We address several questions arising from the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer (BSD) conjecture in this general context. In par- ticular, under mild technical conditions, we show the existence of non-torsion Heegner points on elliptic curves in all situations in which the BSD conjecture predicts their existence.
Given a rational elliptic curve E, a suitable imaginary quadratic field K and a quaternionic Hecke eigenform g of weight 2 obtained from E by level raising such that the sign in the functional equation for L_K(E,s) (respectively, L_K(g,1)) is -1 (respectively, +1), we prove a ``Jochnowitz congruence'' between the algebraic part of L'_K(E,1) (expressed in terms of Heegner points on Shimura curves) and the algebraic part of L_K(g,1). This establishes a relation between Zhang's formula of Gross-Zagier type for central derivatives of L-series and his formula of Gross type for special values. Our r…
Darmon points on p-adic tori and Jacobians of Shimura curves over Q were introduced in previous joint works with Rotger as generalizations of Darmon's Stark-Heegner points. In this article we study the algebraicity over extensions of a real quadratic field K of the projections of Darmon points to elliptic curves. More precisely, we prove that linear combinations of Darmon points on elliptic curves weighted by certain genus characters of K are rational over the predicted genus fields of K. This extends to an arbitrary quaternionic setting the main theorem on the rationality of Stark-Heegner poi…
Let $E$ be a rational elliptic curve, and $K$ be an imaginary quadratic field. In this article we give a method to construct Heegner points when $E$ has a prime bigger than $3$ of additive reduction ramifying in the field $K$. The ideas apply to more general contexts, like constructing Darmon points attached to real quadratic fields which is presented in the appendix.
In this paper, we prove an "explicit reciprocity law" relating Howard's system of big Heegner points to a two-variable $p$-adic $L$-function (constructed here) interpolating the $p$-adic Rankin $L$-series of Bertolini-Darmon-Prasanna in Hida families. As applications, we obtain a direct relation between classical Heegner cycles and the higher weight specializations of big Heegner points, refining earlier work of the author, and prove the vanishing of Selmer groups of CM elliptic curves twisted by 2-dimensional Artin representations in cases predicted by the equivariant Birch and Swinnerton-Dye…
In an earlier paper the author proved one divisibility of Perrin- Riou's Iwasawa main conjecture for Heegner points on elliptic curves. In the present paper, that result is generalized to abelian varieties of GL2-type (i.e. abelian varieties with real multiplication defined over totally real fields) under the hypothesis that the abelian variety is associated to a Hilbert modular form via a construction of Zhang.
Mohammed Ben Alhocain, in an Arab manuscript of the tenth century, stated that the principal object of the theory of rational right triangles is to find a square which when increased or diminished by a certain number $m$ becomes a square (see Dickson). In modern language, this object is to find a rational point of infinite order on the elliptic curve $my^2=x^3-x$. Heegner constructed (see also Monsky) such rational points in the case that $m$ are primes congruent to 5, 7 modulo 8 or twice primes congruent to 6 modulo 8. We extend Heegner's result to integers $m$ with many prime divisors.
Perrin-Riou has formulated a form of the Iwasawa main conjecture, which relates Heegner points to the Selmer group of an elliptic curve as one goes up the anticyclotomic Z_p extension of a quadratic imaginary field K. Building on the earlier work of Bertolini on this conjecture, and making use of the recent work of Mazur and Rubin on Kolyvagin's theory of Euler systems, we prove one divisibility of Perrin-Riou's conjectured equality. As a consequence, one obtains an upper bound on the rank of the Mordell-Weil group E(K) in terms of Heegner points.
In recent work, Darmon, Pozzi and Vonk explicitly construct a modular form whose spectral coefficients are $p$-adic logarithms of Gross-Stark units and Stark-Heegner points. Here we describe how this construction gives rise to a practical algorithm for explicitly computing these logarithms to specified precision, and how to recover the exact values of the Gross-Stark units and Stark-Heegner points from them. Key tools are overconvergent modular forms, reduction theory of quadratic forms and Newton polygons. As an application, we tabulate Brumer-Stark units in narrow Hilbert class fields of rea…
For certain elliptic curves $E$ over $\mathbb{Q}$ with multiplicative reduction at a prime $p\geq 5$, we prove the $p$-indivisibility of the derived Heegner classes defined with respect to an imaginary quadratic field $K$, as conjectured by Kolyvagin. The conditions on $E$ include that $E[p]$ be irreducible and not finite at $p$ and that $p$ split in the imaginary quadratic field $K$, along with certain $p$-indivisibility conditions on various Tamagawa factors. The proof extends the arguments of the second author for the case where $E$ has good ordinary reduction at~$p$.
In a recent work of Darmon, Pozzi and Vonk, the authors consider a particular $p$-adic family of Hilbert Eisenstein series $E_k(1,\brch)$ associated with an odd character $\brch$ of the narrow ideal class group of a real quadratic field $F$ and compute the first derivative of a certain one-variable twisted triple product $p$-adic $L$-series attached to $E_k(1,\brch)$ and an elliptic newform $f$ of weight $2$ on $Γ_0(p)$. In this paper, we generalize their construction to include the cyclotomic variable and thus obtain a two-variable twisted triple product $p$-adic $L$-series. Moreover, when $f…
In this paper we propose and prove an anticyclotomic Iwasawa main conjecture for Heegner points on supersingular elliptic curves with $a_p=0$. The result has a "$\pm$" nature in the sense of Kobayashi. The proof uses a recent work of the second author on one divisibility in the Iwasawa--Greenberg main conjecture for Rankin-Selberg $p$-adic $L$-functions, together with an argument of Howard (adapted to our "$\pm$"-situation). As a byproduct, we also obtain an improvement of Skinner's result on a converse to the Gross--Zagier--Kolyvagin theorem.
Generalised Heegner cycles are associated to a pair of an elliptic Hecke eigenform and a Hecke character over an imaginary quadratic extension $K/\Q$. Let $p$ be an odd prime split in $K/\Q$ and $l\neq p$ an odd unramified prime. We prove the non-triviality of the $p$-adic Abel-Jacobi image of generalised Heegner cycles modulo $p$ over the $\Z_l$-anticylotomic extension of $K$. The result is an evidence for the refined Bloch-Beilinson and the Bloch-Kato conjecture. In the case of two, it provides a refinement of the results of Cornut and Vatsal on the non-triviality of Heegner points over the …
The structure of the Tate-Shafarevich groups of a class of elliptic curves over global function fields is determined. These are known to be finite abelian groups from the monograph [1] and hence they are direct sums of finite cyclic groups where the orders of these cyclic components are invariants of the Tate-Shafarevich group. This decomposition of the Tate-Shafarevich groups into direct sums of finite cyclic groups depends on the behaviour of Drinfeld-Heegner points on these elliptic curves. These are points analogous to Heegner points on elliptic curves over the rational numbers.
For a positive proportion of primes $p$ and $q$, we prove that $\mathbb{Z}$ is Diophantine in the ring of integers of $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt[3]{p},\sqrt{-q})$. This provides a new and explicit infinite family of number fields $K$ such that Hilbert's tenth problem for $O_K$ is unsolvable. Our methods use Iwasawa theory and congruences of Heegner points in order to obtain suitable rank stability properties for elliptic curves.
Let $E$ be an elliptic curve of conductor $N$, and let $K$ be an imaginary quadratic field such that the root number of $E/K$ is $-1$. Let $O$ be an order in $K$ and assume that there exists an odd prime $p$, such that $p^2 \mid\mid N$, and $p$ is inert in $O$. Although there are no Heegner points on $X_0(N)$ attached to $O$, in this article we construct such points on Cartan non-split curves. In order to do that we give a method to compute Fourier expansions for forms in Cartan non-split curves, and prove that the constructed points form a Heegner system as in the classical case.
In the present paper, we generalize the celebrated classical lemma of Birch and Heegner on quadratic twists of elliptic curves over $\mathbb{Q}$. We prove the existence of explicit infinite families of quadratic twists with analytic ranks $0$ and $1$ for a large class of elliptic curves, and use Heegner points to explicitly construct rational points of infinite order on the twists of rank $1$. In addition, we show that these families of quadratic twists satisfy the $2$-part of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture when the original curve does. We also prove a new result in the direction of …
Generalised Heegner cycles are associated to a pair of an elliptic newform and a Hecke character over an imaginary quadratic extension $K/\Q$. The cycles live in a middle dimensional Chow group of a Kuga-Sato variety arising from an indefinite Shimura curve over the rationals and a self product of a CM abelian surface. Let $p$ be an odd prime split in $K/\Q$. We prove the non-triviality of the $p$-adic Abel-Jacobi image of generalised Heegner cycles modulo $p$ over the $\Z_p$-anticylotomic extension of $K$. The result implies the non-triviality of the generalised Heegner cycles in the top grad…
Let $E/\mathbf{Q}$ be an elliptic curve of conductor $N$, let $p>3$ be a prime where $E$ has good ordinary reduction, and let $K$ be an imaginary quadratic field satisfying the Heegner hypothesis. In 1987, Perrin-Riou formulated an Iwasawa main conjecture for the Tate-Shafarevich group of $E$ over the anticyclotomic $\mathbf{Z}_p$-extension of $K$ in terms of Heegner points. In this paper, we give a proof of Perrin-Riou's conjecture under mild hypotheses. Our proof builds on Howard's theory of bipartite Euler systems and Wei Zhang's work on Kolyvagin's conjecture. In the case when $p$ splits i…
Let $E/\mathbb{Q}$ be an elliptic curve, $p$ a prime and $K_{\infty}/K$ the anticyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of a quadratic imaginary field $K$ satisfying the Heegner hypothesis. In this paper we make a conjecture about the fine Selmer group over $K_{\infty}$. We also make a conjecture about the structure of the module of Heegner points in $E(K_{\mathfrak{p}_{\infty}})/p$ where $K_{\mathfrak{p}_{\infty}}$ is the union of the completions of the fields $K_n$ at a prime of $K_{\infty}$ above $p$. We prove that these conjectures are equivalent. When $E$ has supersingular reduction at $p$ we…
The principal goal of this paper is to develop Kolyvagin's descent to apply with the big Heegner point Euler system constructed by Howard for the big Galois representation $\mathbb{T}$ attached to a Hida family $\mathbb{F}$ of elliptic modular forms. In order to achieve this, we interpolate and control the Tamagawa factors attached to each member of the family $\mathbb{F}$ at bad primes, which should be of independent interest. Using this, we then work out the Kolyvagin descent on the big Heegner point Euler system so as to obtain a big Kolyvagin system that interpolates the collection of Koly…
Building on ideas of Vatsal, Cornut proved a conjecture of Mazur asserting the generic nonvanishing of Heegner points on an elliptic curve E as one ascends the anticyclotomic Z_p-extension of a quadratic imaginary extension K/Q. In the present article Cornut's result is extended by replacing the elliptic curve E with the Galois cohomology of Deligne's 2-dimensional l-adic representation attached to a modular form of weight 2k>2, and replacing the family of Heegner points with an analogous family of special cohomology classes.
Stark-Heegner points are conjectural substitutes for Heegner points when the imaginary quadratic field of the theory of complex multiplication is replaced by a real quadratic field $K$. They are constructed analytically as local points on elliptic curves with multiplicative reduction at a prime $p$ that remains inert in $K$, but are conjectured to be rational over ring class fields of $K$ and to satisfy a Shimura reciprocity law describing the action of $G_K$ on them. The main conjectures of \cite{darmon-hpxh} predict that any linear combination of Stark-Heegner points weighted by the values o…
Our first goal in this note is to explain that a weak form of Perrin-Riou's conjecture on the non-triviality of Beilinson-Kato classes follows as an easy consequence of the Iwasawa main conjectures, and deduce its refined versions in the supersingular case from this fact and a variety of Gross-Zagier formulae. Our second goal is to set up a conceptual framework in the context of $Λ$-adic Kolyvagin systems to treat analogues of Perrin-Riou's conjectures for higher motives of higher rank. We apply this general discussion in order to establish a link between Heegner points on a general class of C…
ATR points were introduced by Darmon as a conjectural construction of algebraic points on certain elliptic curves for which in general the Heegner point method is not available. So far the only numerical evidence, provided by Darmon--Logan and Gärtner, concerned curves arising as quotients of Shimura curves. In those special cases the ATR points can be obtained from the already existing Heegner points, thanks to results of Zhang and Darmon--Rotger--Zhao. In this paper we compute for the first time an algebraic ATR point on a curve which is not uniformizable by any Shimura curve, thus providing…
Let $p\equiv 2,5\mod 9$ be an odd prime. In this paper, we prove that at least one of $3p$ and $3p^2$ is a cube sum by constructing certain nontrivial Heegner points. We also establish the explicit Gross-Zagier formulae for these Heegner points and give variants of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture of the related elliptic curves.
For certain elliptic curves $E/\mathbb{Q}$ with $E(\mathbb{Q})[2]=\mathbb{Z}/2 \mathbb{Z}$, we prove a criterion for prime twists of $E$ to have analytic rank 0 or 1, based on a mod 4 congruence of 2-adic logarithms of Heegner points. As an application, we prove new cases of Silverman's conjecture that there exists a positive proposition of prime twists of $E$ of rank zero (resp. positive rank).
For any number field, we prove that there exists an elliptic curve defined over this field such that its Shafarevich-Tate group has a nontrivial 2-torsion subgroup.
We establish direct evidence of the arithmetic significance of plectic Stark-Heegner points for elliptic curves of arbitrarily large rank. The main contribution is a proof of the algebraicity of plectic points associated to polyquadratic CM extensions of totally real number fields. Moreover, we relate the non-vanishing of plectic points to analytic and algebraic ranks of elliptic curves.
--- Let $E/\BmQ$ be an elliptic curve. Let $D<0$ be a sufficiently large fundamental discriminant.
