We investigate the ground state and the thermal entanglement in the two-qubit Ising model interacting with a site-dependent magnetic field. The degree of entanglement is measured by calculating the concurrence. For zero temperature and for certain direction of the applied magnetic field, the quantum phase transition observed under a uniform external magnetic field disappears once a very small non-uniformity is introduced. Furthermore, we have shown analytically and confirmed numerically that once the direction of one of the magnetic field is along the Ising axis then no entangled states can be produced, independently of the degree of non-uniformity of the magnetic fields on each site.
Thermal entanglement of a two-qubit Ising chain subjected to an external magnetic field and Dzialoshinski-Moriya (DM) interaction is examined. The effect of magnetic field, strength of DM interaction and temperature are analyzed by adopting negativity of partial transpose as the measure of entanglement. It is shown that when the DM interaction along the Ising axis is considerable, thermal entanglement can be sustained for higher temperature. The usefulness of longitudinal DM interaction over the one that is perpendicular to the Ising axis, in the manipulation and control of entanglement at a f…
We compute the asymptotic entanglement capacity of the Ising interaction ZZ, the anisotropic Heisenberg interaction XX + YY, and more generally, any two-qubit Hamiltonian with canonical form K = a XX + b YY. We also describe an entanglement assisted classical communication protocol using the Hamiltonian K with rate equal to the asymptotic entanglement capacity.
We study the evolution of nearest-neighbor entanglement in the one dimensional Ising model with an external transverse field. The system is initialized as the so called "thermal ground state" of the pure Ising model. We analyze properties of generation of entanglement for different regions of external transverse fields. We find that the derivation of the time at which the entanglement reaches its first maximum with respect to the reciprocal transverse field has a minimum at the critical point. This is a new indicator of quantum phase transition.
We study entanglement and spin squeezing in the ground state of three qubits interacting via the transverse Ising model. We give analytical results for the entanglement and spin squeezing, and a quantitative relation between the concurrence, quantifying the entanglement of two spins, and the spin squeezing parameter, measuring the degree of squeezing. Finally, by appropriately choosing the exchange interaction and strengths of the transverse field, we propose a scheme for generating entangled W state from an unentangled initial state with all spins down.
The evolution of entanglement in a one-dimensional Ising chain is numerically studied under various initial conditions. We analyze two problems concerning the dynamics of the entanglement: (i) generation of the entanglement from the pseudopure separable state and (ii) transportation of the entanglement from one end of the chain to the other. The investigated model is a one-dimensional Ising spin-1/2 chain with nearest-neighbor interactions placed in an external magnetic field and irradiated by a weak resonant transverse field. The possibility of selective initialization of partially entangled …
We present analytical and numerical simulation results for squeezing, entanglement, and quantum discord in a dissipatively coupled coherent Ising machine (CIM). Both analytical solutions and numerical simulation results, which are obtained with positive-P, truncated-Wigner and truncated-Husimi representations for the density operator, predict the presence of entanglement and quantum discord, below and above the threshold of CIM. The entanglement criteria and quantum discord are evaluated as a function of the dissipative coupling strength relative to the background loss. For coupled two DOPOs, …
We study multipartite entanglement measures for a one-dimensional Ising chain that is capable of showing both integrable and nonintegrable behaviour. This model includes the kicked transverse Ising model, which we solve exactly using the Jordan-Wigner transform, as well as nonintegrable and mixing regimes. The cluster states arise as a special case and we show that while one measure of entanglement is large, another measure can be exponentially small, while symmetrizing these states with respect to up and down spins, produces those with large entanglement content uniformly. We also calculate e…
In this paper, we study the entanglement between two-neighboring sites and the rest of the system in a simple quantum phase transition of 1D transverse field Ising model. We find that the entanglement shows interesting scaling and singular behavior around the critical point, and then can be use as a convenient marker for the transition point.
The efficiency of time dependent density matrix renormalization group methods is intrinsically connected with the rate of entanglement growth. We introduce a new measure of entanglement in the space of operators and show, for transverse Ising spin 1/2 chain, that the simulation of observables, contrary to simulation of typical pure quantum states, is efficient for initial local operators. For initial operators with a finite index in Majorana representation, the operator space entanglement entropy saturates with time to a level which is calculated analytically, while for initial operators with …
We propose a method for generation of genuine multipartite entangled states in a short-range Ising spin chain with periodic global pulses of magnetic field. We consider an integrable and a non-integrable Floquet system that are periodic in time and have constant quasi-energy gaps with degeneracies. We start with all spins polarized along one direction and show that they evolve into states with high entanglement by calculating the average entanglement entropy and geometric measure of entanglement. We show that some of these states have a high number of parties involved in the entanglement by ca…
We consider graph states generated by operator of evolution with Ising Hamiltonian. The geometric measure of entanglement of a spin with other spins in the graph state is obtained analytically and quantified on IBM's quantum computer, IBM Q Valencia. The results of quantum calculations are in good agreement with the theoretical ones. We conclude that the geometric measure of entanglement of a spin with other spins in the graph state is related with degree of vertex representing the spin in the corresponding graph.
Entanglement generated by Ising model has been studied for several authors in order to understand the relation between it and magnetic properties of materials, principally using one or two dimensional models for two or more particles. In this work, Ising model evolution is solved in three dimensions for two parts including an inhomogeneous magnetic field, giving an detailed study of the entanglement properties derived from interaction. Some relations between entanglement and energy or spin are developed specifically to stablish candidates for entanglement witness. Finally, some basic quantum c…
We present a new scheme to efficiently establish entanglement between optical modes in a time-multiplexed coherent Ising machine (CIM) by means of nonlocal measurement and feedback. We numerically simulate and evaluate the generation of steady-state entanglement in a system with nearest-neighbor interactions on a 1D ring, and we compare the results to those of a conventional CIM with all-optical interactions mediated by delay lines. We show that the delay-line architecture has a fundamental limit on accessible entanglement that our measurement-based scheme can substantially surpass. These resu…
We present analytical compact solution for the density matrix and correlation functions of two collective-macroscopic spins evolving via Ising-like Hamiltonian in the presence of particle losses. The losses introduce non-local phase noise which destroys highly entangled states arising in the evolution. On the other hand, the states appearing at relatively short timescales, possessing EPR-like entanglement will survive. Applying our solutions to the recently proposed scheme to entangle two Bose-Einstein condensates, we estimate the optimal number of atoms for EPR correlations.
We investigate competing entanglement dynamics in an open Ising-spin chain coupled to an external central ancilla qudit. In studying the real-time behavior following a quench from an unentangled spin-ancilla state, we find that the ancilla entanglement entropy $S_{vN;\mathcal{A}}$ tracks the dynamical phase transition in the underlying spin system. In this composite setting, purely spin-spin entanglement metrics such as mutual information and quantum Fisher information (QFI) decay as the ancilla entanglement entropy grows. We define multipartite entanglement loss (MEL) as the difference betwee…
We present a solvable model of iterating cluster state protocols that lead to entanglement production, between contiguous blocks, of 1 ebit per iteration. This continues till the blocks are maximally entangled at which stage an unravelling begins at the same rate till the blocks are unentangled. The model is a variant of the transverse field Ising model and can be implemented with CNOT and single qubit gates. The inter qubit entanglement as measured by the concurrence is shown to be zero for periodic chain realizations while for open boundaries there are very specific instances at which these …
We study the local thermal entanglement in a spin-1/2 Ising-$XXZ$ diamond structure with two impurities. In this spin chain, we have the two impurities with an isolated $XXZ$ dimer between them. We focus on the study of the thermal entanglement in this dimer. The main goal of this paper is to provide a good understanding of the effect of impurities in the entanglement of the model. This model is exactly solved by a rigorous treatment based on the transfer-matrix method. Our results show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the impurities parameters in this system. In addition, it is s…
We consider N initially disentangled spins, embedded in a ring or d-dimensional lattice of arbitrary geometry, which interact via some long--range Ising--type interaction. We investigate relations between entanglement properties of the resulting states and the distance dependence of the interaction in the limit N to infinity. We provide a sufficient condition when bipartite entanglement between blocks of L neighboring spins and the remaining system saturates, and determine S_L analytically for special configurations. We find an unbounded increase of S_L as well as diverging correlation and ent…
The Ising chains in a transverse magnetic field of constant strength (h=1) and with the spin interaction value λare considered. In the case of infinitely long chain, exact analytical expressions are found for the second central moment (dispersion) of the entropy operator S^\hat=-lnρwith reduced density matrix ρwhich corresponds to a semi-infinite part of the model in the ground state. It is shown that in the vicinity of a critical point λ_c=1, the entanglement entropy fluctuation ΔS (square root of dispersion) diverges as \Delts S\sim[ln(1/|1-λ|)]^{1/2}. Taking into account the known behavior …
In the last two decades, magnetic, thermodynamic properties and bipartite thermal entanglement in diamond spin clusters and chains have been studied. Such spin structures are presented in various compounds. The ions of $Cu^{2+}$ in the natural mineral azurite are arranged in a diamond spin chain. There are no studies of the entanglement behaviour during the quantum evolution of such systems. Herein, we consider the evolution of entanglement in the diamond spin-1/2 cluster. This cluster consists of two central spins described by the anisotropic Heisenberg model, which interact with two side spi…
We compute the entropy of entanglement of two blocks of L spins at a distance d in the ground state of an Ising chain in an external transverse magnetic field. We numerically study the von Neumann entropy for different values of the transverse field. At the critical point we obtain analytical results for blocks of size L=1 and L=2. In the general case, the critical entropy is shown to be additive when d goes to infinity. Finally, based on simple arguments, we derive an expression for the entropy at the critical point as a function of both L and d. This formula is in excellent agreement with nu…
Recently Seevinck and Uffink argued that genuine multipartite entanglement (GME) had not been established in the experiments designed to confirm GME. In this paper, we use the Bell-type inequalities introduced by Seevinck and Svetlichny [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{89}, 060401 (2002)] to investigate the GME problem in the one-dimensional transverse-field Ising model. We show explicitly that the ground states of this model violate the inequality when the external transverse magnetic field is weak, which indicate that the ground states in this model with weak magnetic field are fully entangled. Sin…
We present detailed analytical calculations for an 1D Ising ring of arbitrary number of spin-1/2 particles, in order to reveal entanglement properties of the stationary states. We show that the ground state and specific eigenstates of the Ising Hamiltonian posses remarkable entanglement properties that can reveal new insight into quantum correlations present in the Ising model. This correlations might be exploited in quantum information processing. We propose an intuitive picture of the behaviour of multipartite entanglement and discuss a relation of our results to some aspects of phase transi…
We consider a one-dimensional spin chain for which the ground state is the cluster state, capable of functioning as a quantum computational wire when subjected to local adaptive measurements of individual qubits, and investigate the robustness of this property to local and coupled (Ising-type) perturbations. We investigate the ground state both by identifying suitable correlation functions as order parameters, as well as numerically using a variational method based on matrix product states. We find that the model retains an infinite localizable entanglement length for Ising and local fields up…
The effects of an impurity plaquette on the thermal quantum correlations measurement by the concurrence, on the quantum coherence quantified by the recently proposed $l_{1}$-norm of coherence and on the quantum teleportation in a Ising-$XXZ$ diamond chain are discussed. Such an impurity is formed by the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers and the nearest-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins. All the interaction parameters are different from those of the rest of the chain. By tailoring them, the quantum entanglement and quantum coherence can be…
We investigate the entanglement properties of finite spin rings, with noncollinear Ising interaction between nearest neighbours. The orientations of the Ising axes are determined either by the spin position within the ring (model A) or by the direction of the bond (model B). In both cases, the considered spin Hamiltonians have a point group symmetry, rather than a translation invariance, as in spin rings with collinear Ising interaction. The ground state of these models exhibit remarkable entanglement properties, resembling GHZ-like states in the absence of an applied magnetic field (model B).…
Comprehending the connections between the geometric, topological, and dynamical structures of integrable quantum systems with quantum phenomena exploitable in quantum information tasks, such as quantum entanglement, is a major problem in geometric information science. In this work we investigate these issues in a physical system of $\mathcal{N}$ interacting spin-$\mathtt{s}$ under long-range Ising model. We discover the relevant dynamics, identify the corresponding quantum phase space and we derive the associated Fubini-Study metric. Through the application of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the …
We investigate entanglement properties of infinite 1D and 2D spin-1/2 quantum Ising and XXZ models. Tensor network methods (MPS in 1D and TERG and CTMRG in 2D) are used to model the ground state of the studied models. Different entanglement measures, such as one-site entanglement entropy, one-tangle, concurrence of formation and assistance, negativity and entanglement per bond are calculated and their `characterizing power' to determine quantum phase transitions is compared. A special emphasis is made on the study of entanglement monogamy properties.
We study the asymptotic scaling of the entanglement of a block of spins for the ground state of the one-dimensional quantum Ising model with transverse field. When the field is sufficiently strong, the entanglement grows at most logarithmically in the number of spins. The proof utilises a transformation to a model of classical probability called the continuum random-cluster model, and is based on a property of the latter model termed ratio weak-mixing. Our proof applies equally to a large class of disordered interactions.
Entanglement is considered as a basic physical resource for modern quantum applications in Quantum Information and Quantum Computation theories. Interactions able to generate and sustain entanglement are subject to deep research in order to have understanding and control on it, based on specific physical systems. Atoms, ions or quantum dots are considered a key piece in quantum applications because is a basic piece of developments towards a scalable spin-based quantum computer through universal and basic quantum operations. Ising model is a type of interaction which generates and modifies enta…
We evaluate and analyze the exact value of a measure for local genuine tripartite entanglement in the one-dimensional cluster-Ising model. This model is attractive since cluster states are considered to be relevant sources for applying quantum algorithms and the Ising interaction is an expected perturbation. Whereas bipartite entanglement is identically vanishing, we find that genuine tripartite entanglement is non zero in the anti-ferromagnetic phase and also in the cluster phase well before the critical point. We prove that the measure of local genuine tripartite entanglement captures all th…
The low-energy states of quantum many body systems, such as spin chains, are entangled. Using tensor network computations, we demonstrate a protocol that distills Bell pairs out of the ground state of the prototypical transverse-field Ising model. We explore the behavior of rate of entanglement distillation in various phases, and possible optimizations of the protocol. Finally, we comment on the protocol as we approach quantum criticality defining a continuum field theory.
We consider two prototypical quantum models, the spin-1/2 XY chain and the quantum Ising chain and study their entanglement entropy, S(l,L), of blocks of l spins in homogeneous or inhomogeneous systems of length L. By using two different approaches, free-fermion techniques and perturbational expansion, an exact relationship between the entropies is revealed. Using this relation we translate known results between the two models and obtain, among others, the additive constant of the entropy of the critical homogeneous quantum Ising chain and the effective central charge of the random XY chain.
The ground state entanglement entropy between block of sites in the random Ising chain is studied by means of the Von Neumann entropy. We show that in presence of strong correlations between the disordered couplings and local magnetic fields the entanglement increases and becomes larger than in the ordered case. The different behavior with respect to the uncorrelated disordered model is due to the drastic change of the ground state properties. The same result holds also for the random 3-state quantum Potts model.
I exploit the formal equivalence between the ground state of a $d$ dimensional quantum system and a d+1 dimensional classical Ising chain to represent quantum entanglement in terms of classical correlations only. This offers a general "local hidden variable model" for all quantum phenomena existing in one dimension lower than the (hidden variable) classical model itself. The local hidden variable model is not contradicted by the implications of Bell's theorem. Formal theory is presented first and then exemplified by the quantum Ising spin chain in a transverse magnetic field. Here I explicitel…
We investigate the time evolution and asymptotic behavior of a system of two two-level atoms (qubits) interacting off-resonance with a single mode radiation field. The two atoms are coupled to each other through dipole-dipole as well as Ising interactions. An exact analytic solution for the system dynamics that spans the entire phase space is provided. We focus on initial states that cause the system to evolve to entanglement sudden death (ESD) between the two atoms. We find that combining the Ising and dipole-dipole interactions is very powerful in controlling the entanglement dynamics and ES…
For a 3-qubit Heisenberg model in a uniform magnetic field, the pairwise thermal entanglement of any two sites is identical due to the exchange symmetry of sites. In this paper we consider the effect of a non-uniform magnetic field on the Heisenberg model, modeling a magnetic impurity on one site. Since pairwise entanglement is calculated by tracing out one of the three sites, the entanglement clearly depends on which site the impurity is located. When the impurity is located on the site which is traced out, that is, when it acts as an external field of the pair, the entanglement can be enhanc…
The evolution of $N$ spin-$1/2$ system with all-range Ising-type interaction is considered. For this system we study the entanglement of one spin with the rest spins. It is shown that the entanglement depends on the amount of spins and the initial state. Also the geometry of manifold which contains entangled states is obtained. Finally we find the dependence of entanglement on the scalar curvature of manifold and examine it for different number of spins in the system.
We numerically study the dynamics of entanglement entropy, induced by an oscillating time periodic driving of the transverse field, h(t), of a one-dimensional quantum Ising chain. We consider several realizations of h(t), and we find a number of results in analogy with entanglement entropy dynamics induced by a sudden quantum quench. After short-time relaxation, the dynamics of entanglement entropy synchronises with h(t), displaying an oscillatory behaviour at the frequency of the driving. Synchronisation in the dynamics of entanglement entropy, is spoiled by the appearance of quasi-revivals w…
Control of quantum entanglement has been considered as elemental physical resource for quantum applications in Quantum Information and Quantum Computation. Control of entangled states on a couple of atoms, ions or quantum dots are milestones in almost all quantum applications towards a scalable spin-based quantum computers or quantum devices. For magnetic systems, Ising model is an interaction which generates and modifies entanglement properties of quantum systems based on matter. In addition, when this interaction includes driven magnetic fields, it can be controlled to sustain, characterize …
The scaling behavior of the entanglement entropy in the two-dimensional random transverse field Ising model is studied numerically through the strong disordered renormalization group method. We find that the leading term of the entanglement entropy always scales linearly with the block size. However, besides this \emph{area law} contribution, we find a subleading logarithmic correction at the quantum critical point. This correction is discussed from the point of view of an underlying percolation transition, both at finite and at zero temperature.
Numerical results for the concurrence and bounds on the localizable entanglement are obtained for the square lattice spin-1/2 XXZ-model and the transverse field Ising-model at low temperatures using quantum Monte Carlo.
We study a one-dimensional Ising model with a magnetic field and show that tilting the field induces a transition to quantum chaos. We explore the stationary states of this Hamiltonian to show the intimate connection between entanglement and avoided crossings. In general entanglement gets exchanged between the states undergoing an avoided crossing with an overall enhancement of multipartite entanglement at the closest point of approach, simultaneously accompanied by diminishing two-body entanglement as measured by concurrence. We find that both for stationary as well as nonstationary states, n…
We study the dynamics of entanglement in the quantum Ising chain with dephasing dissipation in a Lindblad master equation form. We consider two unravelings which preserve the Gaussian form of the state, allowing to address large system sizes. The first unraveling gives rise to a quantum-state-diffusion dynamics, while the second one describes a specific form of quantum-jump evolution, suitably constructed to preserve Gaussianity. In the first case we find a crossover from area-law to logarithm-law entanglement scaling and draw the related phase diagram. In the second case we only find logarith…
In this work we study the entanglement entropy of a uniform quantum Ising chain in transverse field undergoing a periodic driving of period $τ$ . By means of Floquet theory we show that, for any subchain, the entanglement entropy tends asymptotically to a value $τ$ - periodic in time. We provide a semi-analytical formula for the leading term of this asymptotic regime: It is constant in time and obeys a volume law. The entropy in the asymptotic regime is always smaller than the thermal one: because of integrability the system locally relaxes to a Generalized Gibbs Ensemble (GGE) density matrix.…
We study the scaling of the traces of the integer powers of the partially transposed reduced density matrix and of the entanglement negativity for two spin blocks as function of their length and separation in the critical Ising chain. For two adjacent blocks, we show that tensor network calculations agree with universal conformal field theory (CFT) predictions. In the case of two disjoint blocks the CFT predictions are recovered only after taking into account the finite size corrections induced by the finite length of the blocks.
In this paper we consider the quantum phase transition in the Ising model in the presence of a transverse field in one, two and three dimensions from a multi-partite entanglement point of view. Using \emph{exact} numerical solutions, we are able to study such systems up to 25 qubits. The Meyer-Wallach measure of global entanglement is used to study the critical behavior of this model. The transition we consider is between a symmetric GHZ-like state to a paramagnetic product-state. We find that global entanglement serves as a good indicator of quantum phase transition with interesting scaling b…
External monitoring of quantum many-body systems can give rise to a measurement-induced phase transition characterized by a change in behavior of the entanglement entropy from an area law to an unbounded growth. In this Letter, we show that this transition extends beyond bipartite correlations to multipartite entanglement. Using the quantum Fisher information, we investigate the entanglement dynamics of a continuously monitored quantum Ising chain. Multipartite entanglement exhibits the same phase boundaries observed for the entropy in the post-selected no-click trajectory. Instead, quantum ju…
We investigate the entanglement arising naturally in a 1D Ising chain in a magnetic field in an arbitrary direction. We find that for different temperatures, different orientations of the magnetic field give maximum entanglement. In the high temperature limit, this optimal orientation corresponds to the magnetic field being perpendicular to the Ising orientation (z direction). In the low temperature limit, we find that varying the angle of the magnetic field very slightly from the z direction leads to a rapid rise in entanglement. We also find that the orientation of the magnetic field for max…
We study the scaling of the Renyi and entanglement entropy of two disjoint blocks of critical Ising models, as function of their sizes and separations. We present analytic results based on conformal field theory that are quantitatively checked in numerical simulations of both the quantum spin chain and the classical two dimensional Ising model. Theoretical results match the ones obtained from numerical simulations only after taking properly into account the corrections induced by the finite length of the blocks to their leading scaling behavior.
Discrete quantum trajectories of systems under random unitary gates and projective measurements have been shown to feature transitions in the entanglement scaling that are not encoded in the density matrix. In this paper, we study the projective transverse field Ising model, a stochastic model with two noncommuting projective measurements and no unitary dynamics. We numerically demonstrate that their competition drives an entanglement transition between two distinct steady states that both exhibit area law entanglement, and introduce a classical but nonlocal model that captures the entanglemen…
The entanglement entropy of the random transverse-field Ising model is calculated by a numerical implementation of the asymptotically exact strong disorder renormalization group method in 2d, 3d and 4d hypercubic lattices for different shapes of the subregion. We find that the area law is always satisfied, but there are analytic corrections due to E-dimensional edges (1<=E<=d-2). More interesting is the contribution arising from corners, which is logarithmically divergent at the critical point and its prefactor in a given dimension is universal, i.e. independent of the form of disorder.
