We consider graph states generated by operator of evolution with Ising Hamiltonian. The geometric measure of entanglement of a spin with other spins in the graph state is obtained analytically and quantified on IBM's quantum computer, IBM Q Valencia. The results of quantum calculations are in good agreement with the theoretical ones. We conclude that the geometric measure of entanglement of a spin with other spins in the graph state is related with degree of vertex representing the spin in the corresponding graph.
The notion of compressed quantum computation is employed to simulate the Ising interaction of a 1D--chain consisting out of $n$ qubits using the universal IBM cloud quantum computer running on $\log(n)$ qubits. The external field parameter that controls the quantum phase transition of this model translates into particular settings of the quantum gates that generate the circuit. We measure the magnetization, which displays the quantum phase transition, on a two--qubit system, which simulates a four--qubit Ising chain, and show its agreement with the theoretical prediction within a certain error…
It is imperative to compile quantum circuits for Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices because of the limited connectivity of physical qubits and the high error rates of gate operations. One of the most critical steps in quantum circuit compilation is qubit routing, an NP-Hard problem that involves placing and moving logical qubits to minimize compilation overhead. In this study, we propose ISing mAchine Assisted Quantum compiler (ISAAQ) to perform qubit routing with Ising machines, which can efficiently solve Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) problems. ISAAQ accurat…
Spin-1 tunneling and splitting of energy levels as a result of tunneling are observed explicitly on IBM's quantum computer, ibmq-bogota. The spin-1 is realized with two spins-1/2. We detect oscillations of spin-1 between the states $|1\rangle$, $|-1\rangle$ in the result of tunneling on the basis of studies of the time dependence of the mean value of z-component of spin-1 on the quantum device. The energy level splitting is observed quantifying on the IBM's quantum computer the eigenvalues of Hamiltonian which describes the spin tunneling.
Quantum computers have the potential to outperform classical computers in a range of computational tasks, such as prime factorisation and unstructured searching. However, real-world quantum computers are subject to noise. Quantifying noise is of vital importance, since it is often the dominant factor preventing the successful realisation of advanced quantum computations. Here we propose and demonstrate an interleaved randomised benchmarking protocol for measurement-based quantum computers that can be used to estimate the fidelity of any single-qubit measurement-based gate. We tested the protoc…

We present an exact simulation of a one-dimensional transverse Ising spin chain with a quantum computer. We construct an efficient quantum circuit that diagonalizes the Ising Hamiltonian and allows to obtain all eigenstates of the model by just preparing the computational basis states. With an explicit example of that circuit for $n=4$ spins, we compute the expected value of the ground state magnetization, the time evolution simulation and provide a method to also simulate thermal evolution. All circuits are run in IBM and Rigetti quantum devices to test and compare them qualitatively.
Quantum scrambling measured by out-of-time-ordered correlator (OTOC) has an important role in understanding the physics of black holes and evaluating quantum chaos. It is known that Rydberg atom has been a general interest due to its extremely favourable properties for building a quantum simulator. Fast and efficient quantum simulators can be developed by studying quantum scrambling in related systems. Here we present a general quantum circuit to theoretically implement an interferometric protocol which is a technique proposed to measure OTOC functions. We apply this circuit to measure OTOC an…
In this work we investigate how to quantify the coherence of quantum measurements. First, we establish a resource theoretical framework to address the coherence of measurement and show that any statistical distance can be adopted to define a coherence monotone of measurement. For instance, the relative entropy fulfills all the required properties as a proper monotone. We specifically introduce a coherence monotone of measurement in terms of off-diagonal elements of Positive-Operator-Valued Measure (POVM) components. This quantification provides a lower bound on the robustness of measurement-co…
A comparison is made between Exhaustive Search (ES) and Iterative Local Search (ILS). Such comparison was made using the Quantum Approximation Optimization Algorithm (QAOA). QAOA has been extensively researched due to its this potential to be implemented in actual quantum hardware, and its promising future in optimization problems and quantum machine learning. ES and ILS approaches were simulated to determine the pros and cons of these techniques for QAOA in local (classic computer) and real simulations (IBM quantum computer). These classic approaches were used in QAOA to approximate the optim…
We quantify the geometric measure of entanglement in terms of mean values of observables of entangled system. For pure states we find the relation of geometric measure of entanglement with the mean value of spin one-half for the system composed of spin and arbitrary quantum system. The geometric measure of entanglement for mixed states of rank-2 is studied as well. We find the explicit expression for geometric entanglement and the relation of entanglement in this case with the values of spin correlations. These results allow to find experimentally the value of entanglement by measuring a value…
We study entanglement and spin squeezing in the ground state of three qubits interacting via the transverse Ising model. We give analytical results for the entanglement and spin squeezing, and a quantitative relation between the concurrence, quantifying the entanglement of two spins, and the spin squeezing parameter, measuring the degree of squeezing. Finally, by appropriately choosing the exchange interaction and strengths of the transverse field, we propose a scheme for generating entangled W state from an unentangled initial state with all spins down.

The search for an application of near-term quantum devices is widespread. Quantum Machine Learning is touted as a potential utilisation of such devices, particularly those which are out of the reach of the simulation capabilities of classical computers. In this work, we propose a generative Quantum Machine Learning Model, called the Ising Born Machine (IBM), which we show cannot, in the worst case, and up to suitable notions of error, be simulated efficiently by a classical device. We also show this holds for all the circuit families encountered during training. In particular, we explore quant…
There is great interest in using near-term quantum computers to simulate and study foundational problems in quantum mechanics and quantum information science, such as the scrambling measured by an out-of-time-ordered correlator (OTOC). Here we use an IBM Q processor, quantum error mitigation, and weaved Trotter simulation to study high-resolution operator spreading in a 4-spin Ising model as a function of space, time, and integrability. Reaching 4 spins while retaining high circuit fidelity is made possible by the use of a physically motivated fixed-node variant of the OTOC, allowing scramblin…
We propose a method for detection of energy levels of arbitrary spin system on a quantum computer based on studies of evolution of only one probe spin. On the basis of the proposed method energy levels of spin systems are found on IBM's quantum computer ibmq-bogota, among them are spin chain in magnetic field, triangle spin cluster, Ising model on squared lattice in magnetic field. The results of quantum calculations are in agreement with the theoretical ones. The method is efficient for estimation of the energy levels of many-spin systems and opens a possibility to achieve quantum supremacy i…
Time evolution and scattering simulation in phenomenological models are of great interest for testing and validating the potential for near-term quantum computers to simulate quantum field theories. Here, we simulate one-particle propagation and two-particle scattering in the one-dimensional transverse Ising model for 3 and 4 spatial sites with periodic boundary conditions on a quantum computer. We use the quantum Lanczos algorithm to obtain all energy levels and corresponding eigenstates of the system. We simplify the quantum computation by taking advantage of the symmetries of the system. Th…
The one-dimensional Ising model with its connections to several physical concepts plays a vital role in comprehension of several principles, phenomena and numerical methods. The Hamiltonian of a coupled one-dimensional dissipative spin system in the presence of magnetic field can be obtained from the Ising model. We simulate the above Hamiltonian by designing a quantum circuit with precise gate measurement and execute with the IBMQ experience platform through different $N$ states with controlled energy separation where we can check quantum synchronization in a dissipative lattice system. Our r…
Geometric properties of evolutionary graph states of spin systems generated by the operator of evolution with Ising Hamiltonian are examined, using their relationship with fluctuations of energy. We find that the geometric characteristics of the graph states depend on properties of the corresponding graphs. Namely, it is obtained that the fluctuations of energy in graph states and therefore the velocity of quantum evolution, the curvature and the torsion of the states are related with the total number of edges, triangles and squares in the corresponding graphs. The obtained results give a poss…
The ferromagnetic state of an Ising chain can represent a two-fold degenerate subspace or equivalently a logical qubit which is protected from excitations by an energy gap. We study a a braiding-like exchange operation through the movement of the state in the qubit subspace which resembles that of the localized edge modes in a Kitaev chain. The system consists of two Ising chains in a 1D geometry where the operation is simulated through the adiabatic time evolution of the ground state. The time evolution is implemented via the Suzuki-Trotter expansion on basic single- and two-qubit quantum gat…
We develop techniques to probe the dynamics of quantum information, and implement them experimentally on an IBM superconducting quantum processor. Our protocols adapt shadow tomography for the study of time evolution channels rather than of quantum states, and rely only on single-qubit operations and measurements. We identify two unambiguous signatures of quantum information scrambling, neither of which can be mimicked by dissipative processes, and relate these to many-body teleportation. By realizing quantum chaotic dynamics in experiment, we measure both signatures, and support our results w…
We show that the time dependence of mean value of a physical quantity is related with the transition energies of a quantum system. In the case when the operator of a physical quantity anticommutes with the Hamiltonian of a system, studies of the evolution of its mean value allow determining the energy levels of the system. On the basis of the result, we propose a method for determining energy levels of physical systems on a quantum computer. The method opens a possibility to achieve quantum supremacy in solving the problem of finding minimal or maximal energy of Ising model with spatially anis…
Quantifying of quantum coherence of a given system not only plays an important role in quantum information science but also promote our understanding on some basic problems, such as quantum phase transition. Conventional quantum coherence measurements, such as $l_1$ norm of coherence and relative entropy of coherence, has been widely used to study quantum phase transition, which usually are basis-dependent. The recent quantum version of the Jensen-Shannon divergence meet all the requirements of a good coherence measure. It is not only a metric but also can be basis-independent. Here, based on …
We quantify the emergent complexity of quantum states near quantum critical points on regular 1D lattices, via complex network measures based on quantum mutual information as the adjacency matrix, in direct analogy to quantifying the complexity of EEG/fMRI measurements of the brain. Using matrix product state methods, we show that network density, clustering, disparity, and Pearson's correlation obtain the critical point for both quantum Ising and Bose-Hubbard models to a high degree of accuracy in finite-size scaling for three classes of quantum phase transitions, $Z_2$, mean field superfluid…
The system undergoes adiabatic evolution when its population in the instantaneous eigenbasis of its time-dependent Hamiltonian changes only negligibly. Realization of such dynamics requires slow-enough changes of the parameters of the Hamiltonian, a task that can be hard to achieve near quantum critical points. A powerful alternative is provided by the counterdiabatic modification of the Hamiltonian allowing for an arbitrarily quick implementation of the adiabatic dynamics. Such a counterdiabatic driving protocol has been recently proposed for the quantum Ising model [A. del Campo et al., Phys…
Optimally mapping a parallel application to compute and communication resources is increasingly important as both system size and heterogeneity increase. A similar mapping problem exists in gate-based quantum computing where the objective is to map tasks to gates in a topology-aware fashion. This is an NP-complete graph isomorphism problem, and existing task assignment approaches are either heuristic or based on physical optimization algorithms, providing different speed and solution quality trade-offs. Ising machines such as quantum and digital annealers have recently become available and off…
Recently, there has been much interest in the efficient preparation of complex quantum states using low-depth quantum circuits, such as Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA). While it has been numerically shown that such algorithms prepare certain correlated states of quantum spins with surprising accuracy, a systematic way of quantifying the efficiency of QAOA in general classes of models has been lacking. Here, we propose that the success of QAOA in preparing ordered states is related to the interaction distance of the target state, which measures how close that state is to the m…
Measurement-based quantum computing is an alternative paradigm to the circuit-based model. This approach can be advantageous in certain scenarios, such as when read-out is fast and accurate, but two-qubit gates realized via inter-particle interactions are slow and can be parallelized to efficiently create a cluster state. However, understanding how two-qubit errors impact algorithm accuracy and developing experimentally viable approaches to characterize cluster-state fidelity are outstanding challenges. Here, we consider one-dimensional cluster states built from controlled phase, Ising, and XY…
Quantifying entanglement of multiple subsystems is a challenging open problem in interacting quantum systems. Here, we focus on two subsystems of length $\ell$ separated by a distance $r=α\ell$ and quantify their entanglement negativity (${\cal E}$) and mutual information (${\cal I}$) in critical random Ising chains. Both the disorder averaged ${\cal E}$ and ${\cal I}$ are found to be scale-invariant and universal, i.e. independent of the form of disorder. We find a constant ${\cal E}(α)$ and ${\cal I}(α)$ over any distances, using the asymptotically exact strong disorder renormalization group…
Nonstabilizerness, also known as magic, quantifies the number of non-Clifford operations needed in order to prepare a quantum state. As typical measures either involve minimization procedures or a computational cost exponential in the number of qubits $N$, it is notoriously hard to characterize for many-body states. In this work, we show that nonstabilizerness, as quantified by the recently introduced Stabilizer Rényi Entropies (SREs), can be computed efficiently for matrix product states (MPSs). Specifically, given an MPS of bond dimension $χ$ and integer Rényi index $n>1$, we show that the S…
We propose a method to speed up the quantum adiabatic algorithm using catalysis by many-body delocalization. This is applied to random-field antiferromagnetic Ising spin models. The algorithm is catalyzed in such a way that the evolution approximates a Heisenberg model in the middle of its course, and the model is in a delocalized phase. We show numerically that we can speed up the standard algorithm for finding the ground state of the random-field Ising model using this idea. We also demonstrate that the speedup is due to gap amplification, even though the underlying model is not frustration-…
We study the complexity of approximately evaluating the Ising and Tutte partition functions with complex parameters. Our results are partly motivated by the study of the quantum complexity classes BQP and IQP. Recent results show how to encode quantum computations as evaluations of classical partition functions. These results rely on interesting and deep results about quantum computation in order to obtain hardness results about the difficulty of (classically) evaluating the partition functions for certain fixed parameters. The motivation for this paper is to study more comprehensively the com…
We review a recent theoretical proposal for a universal quantum computing platform based on tunable nonlinear electromechanical nano-oscillators, in which qubits are encoded in the anharmonic vibrational modes of mechanical resonators coupled to a superconducting circuitry. The digital quantum simulation of spin-type model Hamiltonians, such as the Ising model in a transverse field, could be performed with very high fidelities on such a prospective platform. Here we challenge our proposed simulator with the actual IBM-Q quantum processor available on cloud. We show that such state-of-art imple…
