The effects of an impurity plaquette on the thermal quantum correlations measurement by the concurrence, on the quantum coherence quantified by the recently proposed $l_{1}$-norm of coherence and on the quantum teleportation in a Ising-$XXZ$ diamond chain are discussed. Such an impurity is formed by the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers and the nearest-neighbor Ising coupling between the nodal and interstitial spins. All the interaction parameters are different from those of the rest of the chain. By tailoring them, the quantum entanglement and quantum coherence can be controlled and tuned. Therefore, the quantum resources -- thermal entanglement and quantum coherence -- of the model exhibit a clear performance improvement in comparison to the original model without impurities. We also demonstrate that the quantum teleportation can be tuned by its inclusion. The thermal teleportation is modified in significant way as well, and a strong increase in average fidelity is observed. We furnish the exact solution by the use of the transfer-matrix method.
We study quantum teleportation via a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ chain under an inhomogeneous magnetic field. We first consider entanglement teleportation, and then focus on the teleportation fidelity under different conditions. The effects of anisotropy and the magnetic field, both uniform and inhomogeneous, are discussed. We also find that, though entanglement teleportation does require an entangled quantum channel, a nonzero critical value of minimum entanglement is not always necessary.
The quantum teleportation plays an important role in quantum information process, in this sense, the quantum entanglement properties involving an infinite chain structure is quite remarkable because real materials could be well represented by an infinite chain. We study the teleportation of an entangled state through a couple of quantum channels, composed by Heisenberg dimers in an infinite Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain, the couple of chains are considered sufciently far away from each other to be ignored the any interaction between them . To teleporting a couple of qubits through the quantum…
With the recent development of optomechanics, the vibration in solids, involving collective motion of trillions of atoms, gradually enters into the realm of quantum control. Built on the recent remarkable progress in optical control of motional states of diamonds, here we report an experimental demonstration of quantum teleportation from light beams to vibrational states of a macroscopic diamond under ambient conditions. Through quantum process tomography, we demonstrate average teleportation fidelity (90.6+/- 1.0)%, clearly exceeding the classical limit of 2/3. The experiment pushes the targe…
We study the local thermal entanglement in a spin-1/2 Ising-$XXZ$ diamond structure with two impurities. In this spin chain, we have the two impurities with an isolated $XXZ$ dimer between them. We focus on the study of the thermal entanglement in this dimer. The main goal of this paper is to provide a good understanding of the effect of impurities in the entanglement of the model. This model is exactly solved by a rigorous treatment based on the transfer-matrix method. Our results show that the entanglement can be tuned by varying the impurities parameters in this system. In addition, it is s…
In this work we analyze the quantum correlations in a spin-1/2 Ising-XXZ diamond chain with one plaquette distorted impurity. We have shown that the introduction of impurity into the chain can significantly increase entanglement as well as quantum correlations compared to the original model, without impurity. Due to the great flexibility in the choice of impurity parameters, the model presented is very general and this fact can be very useful for future experimental measurements. In addition to entanglement and quantum coherence, we studied quantum teleportation through a quantum channel compo…
Realizing robust quantum information transfer between long-lived qubit registers is a key challenge for quantum information science and technology. Here we demonstrate unconditional teleportation of arbitrary quantum states between diamond spin qubits separated by 3 meters. We prepare the teleporter through photon-mediated heralded entanglement between two distant electron spins and subsequently encode the source qubit in a single nuclear spin. By realizing a fully deterministic Bell-state measurement combined with real-time feed-forward we achieve teleportation in each attempt while obtaining…
A quantum internet connects remote quantum processors that need interact and exchange quantum signals over a long distance through photonic channels. However, these quantum nodes are usually composed of quantum systems with emitted photons unsuitable for long-distance transmission. Therefore, quantum wavelength conversion to telecom is crucial for long-distance quantum networks based on optical fiber. Here we propose wavelength conversion devices for single-photon polarization qubits using continuous variable quantum teleportation, which can efficiently convert qubits between near-infrared (78…
Bidirectional quantum teleportation is a fundamental protocol for exchanging quantum information between two parties. Specifically, the two individuals make use of a shared resource state as well as local operations and classical communication (LOCC) to swap quantum states. In this work, we concisely highlight the contributions of our companion paper [Siddiqui and Wilde, arXiv:2010.07905]. We develop two different ways of quantifying the error of nonideal bidirectional teleportation by means of the normalized diamond distance and the channel infidelity. We then establish that the values given …
Quantum teleportation is a primitive in several important applications, including quantum communication, quantum computation, error correction, and quantum networks. In this work, we propose an optimal test for the performance of continuous-variable (CV) quantum teleportation in terms of the energy-constrained channel fidelity between ideal CV teleportation and its experimental implementation. Work prior to ours considered suboptimal tests of the performance of CV teleportation, focusing instead on its performance for particular states, such as ensembles of coherent states, squeezed states, ca…
Quantum information technology is set to transform critical network security using quantum cryptography, and complex scientific and engineering simulations with quantum computing. Quantum computer nodes may be based on a variety of systems, such as linear optics, ions, or solid state architectures such as NV-centers in diamond, semiconductor quantum dots or spins in silicon. Interfacing any of these platforms with photonic qubits in secure quantum networks will require quantum teleportation protocols to transfer the information, and matter-light teleportation has for some of these systems been…
This paper defines the amortized entanglement of a quantum channel as the largest difference in entanglement between the output and the input of the channel, where entanglement is quantified by an arbitrary entanglement measure. We prove that the amortized entanglement of a channel obeys several desirable properties, and we also consider special cases such as the amortized relative entropy of entanglement and the amortized Rains relative entropy. These latter quantities are shown to be single-letter upper bounds on the secret-key-agreement and PPT-assisted quantum capacities of a quantum chann…
The academic research into entanglement nicely illustrates the interplay between fundamental science and applications, and the need to foster both aspects to advance either one. For instance, the possibility to distribute entangled photons over tens or even hundreds of kilometers is fascinating because it confirms the quantum predictions over large distances, while quantum theory is often presented to apply to the very small (see Figure 1). On the other hand, entanglement enables quantum key distribution (QKD) [1]. This most advanced application of quantum information processing allows one to …
We study optimal dense coding with thermal entangled states of a two-qubit anisotropic \emph{XXZ} model and a Heisenberg model with Dzyaloshinski-Moriya (DM) interactions. The DM interaction is another kind of anisotropic antisymmetric exchange interaction. The effects of these two kinds of anisotropies on dense coding are studied in detail for both the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic cases. For the two models, we give the conditions that the parameters of the models have to satisfy for a valid dense coding. We also found that even though there is entanglement, it is unavailable for our op…
It is shown that in the diamond $C^{12}$ structure with a linear chain of $C^{13}$ atoms which is inside a transverse static field, having a gradient along the linear chain and an rf-magnetic field in a plane with a component in the direction of the static field, one qubit rotation, the Controlled-Not (CNOT), the Controlled-Controlled-NoT (CCNOT) quantum gates, and teleportation algorithm.
A central aim of quantum information processing is the efficient entanglement of multiple stationary quantum memories via photons. Among solid-state systems, the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centre in diamond has emerged as an excellent optically addressable memory with second-scale electron spin coherence times. Recently, quantum entanglement and teleportation have been shown between two NV-memories, but scaling to larger networks requires more efficient spin-photon interfaces such as optical resonators. Here, we demonstrate such NV-nanocavity systems with optical quality factors approaching 10,000 …
We study the probabilistic (conditional) teleportation protocol when the entanglement needed to its implementation is given by thermal entanglement, i.e., when the entangled resource connecting Alice and Bob is an entangled mixed state described by the canonical ensemble density matrix. Specifically, the entangled resource we employ here is given by two interacting spin-1/2 systems (two qubits) in equilibrium with a thermal reservoir at temperature T. The interaction between the qubits is described by a Heisenberg-like Hamiltonian, encompassing the Ising, the XX, the XY, the XXX, and XXZ model…
We study the performance (rate and fidelity) of distributing multipartite entangled states in a quantum network through the use of a central node. Specifically, we consider the scenario where the multipartite entangled state is first prepared locally at a central node, and then transmitted to the end nodes of the network through quantum teleportation. As our first result, we present leading-order analytical expressions and lower bounds for both the rate and fidelity at which a specific class of multipartite entangled states, namely Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states, are distributed. Our…
The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pair of qubits plays a critical role in many quantum protocol applications such as quantum communication and quantum teleportation. Due to interaction with the environment, an EPR pair might lose its entanglement and can no longer serve as useful quantum resources. On the other hand, it has been suggested that introducing disorder into environment might help to prevent thermalization and improve the preservation of entanglement. Here, we theoretically investigate the time evolution of quantum entanglement of an EPR pair in a random-field XXZ spin chain model i…
Quantum entanglement between spatially separated objects is one of the most intriguing phenomena in physics. The outcomes of independent measurements on entangled objects show correlations that cannot be explained by classical physics. Besides being of fundamental interest, entanglement is a unique resource for quantum information processing and communication. Entangled qubits can be used to establish private information or implement quantum logical gates. Such capabilities are particularly useful when the entangled qubits are spatially separated, opening the opportunity to create highly conne…
