The set of all separable quantum states is compact and convex. We focus on the two-qubit quanum system and study the boundary of the set. Then we give the criterion to determine whether a separable state is on the boundary. Some straightforward geometrical interpretations for entanglement are based on the concept and presented subsequently.
We characterize the boundary of the convex compact set of absolutely separable states, referred as {\bf AS}, that cannot be transformed to entangled states by global unitary operators, in $2\otimes d$ Hilbert space. However, we show that the absolutely separable states of rank-$(2d-1)$ are extreme points of such sets. We then discuss conditions to examine if a given full-rank absolutely separable state is an interior point or a boundary point of {\bf AS}. Moreover, we construct two-qubit absolutely separable states which are boundary points but not extreme points of {\bf AS} and prove the exis…
It is shown that it is possible to construct the quantum wave functions for non-separable but integrable two-dimensional Hamiltonian systems, by solving suitable Dirichlet boundary values problems inside and outside the regions spanned by particular families of classical trajectories, in one-to-one correspondence with the quantum state. The method is applied both to the Schrodinger equation, and to the quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The boundary values are obtained by integrating the one-dim equations on the caustics arcs enveloping the classical trajectories. This approach gives the same r…
We construct one parameter families of three qubit separable states with length ten, which is strictly greater than the whole dimension eight. These states are located on the boundary of the convex set of all separable states, but they are in the interior of the convex set of all states with positive partial transposes. They are also decomposed into the convex sum of ten pure product states in a unique way.
We prove limitations on LOCC and separable measurements in bipartite state discrimination problems using techniques from convex optimization. Specific results that we prove include: an exact formula for the optimal probability of correctly discriminating any set of either three or four Bell states via LOCC or separable measurements when the parties are given an ancillary partially entangled pair of qubits; an easily checkable characterization of when an unextendable product set is perfectly discriminated by separable measurements, along with the first known example of an unextendable product s…
Univariate Functions for the Hilbert-Schmidt Volumes of the Real and Complex Separable Two-Qubit Systems
Supersymmetry is a technique that allows us to extract information about the states and spectra of quantum mechanical systems which may otherwise be unsolvable. In this paper we reconstruct Ioffe's set of states for the singular non-separable two-dimensional Morse potential using supersymmetry from a non-degenerate set of states constructed for the initial separable Morse Hamiltonian. We define generalised coherent states, compute their uncertainty relations, and we find that the singularity in the partner Hamiltonian significantly affects the localisation of the coherent state wavefunction.

Given integers n $\geq$ m, let Sep(n,m) be the set of separable states on the Hilbert space $\mathbb{C}^n \otimes \mathbb{C}^m$. It is well-known that for (n,m)=(3,2) the set of separable states has a simple description using semidefinite programming: it is given by the set of states that have a positive partial transpose. In this paper we show that for larger values of n and m the set Sep(n,m) has no semidefinite programming description of finite size. As Sep(n,m) is a semialgebraic set this provides a new counterexample to the Helton-Nie conjecture, which was recently disproved by Scheiderer…
In this paper we show an explicit construction of multipartite class of entangled states with the PPT (Positive Partial Transposition) property in every cut. We investigate properties of this class of states focusing on the trace distance from the set of separable states. We provide an explicit sub-class of the multipartite entangled PPT states which are arbitrary far from the set of separable states. We argue, that in the multipartite case the mentioned distance increases with dimension of the local Hilbert space. In our construction is we do not have to use many copies of initial state livin…
We study the entanglement dynamics for two uniformly accelerated two-level atoms in interaction with a bath of fluctuating electromagnetic fields in vacuum in the presence of a reflecting boundary. We consider two different alignments of atoms, i.e. parallel and vertical alignments with respect to the boundary. In particular, we focus on the effects of the boundary, and acceleration on the entanglement dynamics, which are closely related to the orientations of polarization. For the parallel case, the initial entanglement of two transversely polarizable atoms very close to the boundary can be p…
