Let $X$ be a complex toric Fano $n$-fold and ${\cal N}(T)$ the normalizer of a maximal torus $T$ in the group of biholomorphic authomorphisms $Aut(X)$. We call $X$ {\em symmetric} if the trivial character is a single ${\cal N}(T)$-invariant algebraic character of $T$. Using an invariant $α_G(X)$ introduced by Tian, we show that all symmetric toric Fano $n$-folds admit an Einstein-Kähler metric. We remark that so far one doesn't know any example of a toric Fano $n$-fold $X$ such that $Aut(X)$ is reductive, the Futaki character of $X$ vanishes, but $X$ is not symmetric.
We study the problem of existence of Kähler--Einstein metrics on smooth Fano threefolds of Picard rank one and anticanonical degree $22$ that admit a faithful action of the multiplicative group $\mathbb{C}^\ast$. We prove that, except possibly two explicitly described cases, all such smooth Fano threefolds are Kähler--Einstein.
We discuss the construction of toric Kaehler metrics on symplectic 2n-manifolds with a hamiltonian n-torus action and present a simple derivation of the Guillemin formula for a distinguished Kaehler metric on any such manifold. The results also apply to orbifolds.
We consider Fano manifolds M that admit a collection of finite automorphism groups G_1, ..., G_k, such that the quotients M/G_i are smooth Fano manifolds possessing a Kaehler-Einstein metric. Under some numerical and smoothness assumptions on the ramification divisors, we prove that M admits a Kaehler-Einstein metric too.
We prove the metric version of the SYZ conjecture for a class of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces inside toric Fano manifolds, by solving a variational problem whose minimizer may be interpreted as a global solution of the real Monge-Ampère equation on certain polytopes. This does not rely on discrete symmetry.
We provide an explicit resolution of the existence problem for extremal Kaehler metrics on toric 4-orbifolds M with second Betti number b2(M)=2. More precisely we show that M admits such a metric if and only if its rational Delzant polytope (which is a labelled quadrilateral) is K-polystable in the relative, toric sense (as studied by S. Donaldson, E. Legendre, G. Szekelyhidi et al.). Furthermore, in this case, the extremal Kaehler metric is ambitoric, i.e., compatible with a conformally equivalent, oppositely oriented toric Kaehler metric, which turns out to be extremal as well. These results…
We completely classify toric weakened Fano 3-folds, that is, smooth toric weak Fano 3-folds which are not Fano but are deformed to smooth Fano 3-folds. There exist exactly 15 toric weakened Fano 3-folds up to isomorphisms.
The global holomorphic α-invariant introduced by Tian is closely related with the study in the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric. We apply the result of Tian, Lu and Zelditch on polarized Kahler metrics to approximate plurisubharmonic functions and compute the α-invariant of toric Fano manifolds.
The interpretation, due to T. Mabuchi, of the classical Futaki invariant of Fano toric manifolds is extended to the case of the Generalized Futaki invariant, introduced by W. Ding and G. Tian, of almost Fano toric varieties. As an application it is shown that the real part of the Generalized Futaki invariant is positive for all degenerations of the Fano manifold V_{38}, obtained by intersection of the Veronese embedding of ${\bf P}^3\times{\bf P}^2 \subset {\bf P}^{11}$ with codimension-two hyperplanes.
We explain a web of Sarkisov links that overlies the classification of Fano weighted projective spaces in dimensions 3 and 4, extending results of Prokhorov.
We extend Nadel's results on some conditions for the multiplier ideal sheaves to satisfy which are described in terms of an obstruction defined by the first author. Applying our extension we can determine the multiplier ideal sheaves on toric del Pezzo surfaces which do not admit Kähler-Einstein metrics. We also show that one can define multiplier ideal sheaves for Kähler-Ricci solitons and extend the result of Nadel using the holomorphic invariant defined by Tian and Zhu.
The purpose of this paper is to calculate the support of the multiplier ideal sheaves derived from the Kähler-Ricci flow on certain toric Fano manifolds with large symmetry. The early idea of this paper has already been in Appendix of \cite{futaki-sano0711}.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of toric special weak Fano manifolds, which have only special primitive crepant contractions. We study the structure of them, and in particular completely classify smooth toric special weak Fano 4-folds. As a result, we can confirm that almost every smooth toric special weak Fano 4-fold is a weakened Fano manifold, that is, a weak Fano manifold which can be deformed to a Fano manifold.
In this note we report on examples of 7- and 8-dimensional toric Fano manifolds that are not symmetric and still admit a Kaehler-Einstein metric. This answers a question first posed by V.V. Batyrev and E. Selivanova. The examples were found in the classification of toric Fano manifolds up to dimension 8 obtained by M. Oebro. We also discuss related open questions and conjectures.
We present some applications of the deformation theory of toric Fano varieties to K-(semi/poly)stability of Fano varieties. First, we present two examples of K-polystable toric Fano 3-fold with obstructed deformations. In one case, the K-moduli spaces and stacks are reducible near the closed point associated to the toric Fano 3-fold, while in the other they are non-reduced near the closed point associated to the toric Fano 3-fold. Second, we study K-stability of the general members of two deformation families of smooth Fano 3-folds by building degenerations to K-polystable toric Fano 3-folds.
The purpose of this paper is to give basic tools for the classification of nonsingular toric Fano varieties by means of the notions of primitive collections and primitive relations due to Batyrev. By using them we can easily deal with equivariant blow-ups and blow-downs, and get an easy criterion to determine whether a given nonsingular toric variety is a Fano variety or not. As applications of these results, we get a toric version of a theorem of Mori, and can classify, in principle, all nonsingular toric Fano varieties obtained from a given nonsingular toric Fano variety by finite succession…
In this note we prove that any toric Fano manifold with nef tangent bundle is a product of projective spaces. In particular, it implies that Campana-Peternell conjecture hold for toric manifolds.
We characterize building sets whose associated nonsingular projective toric varieties are Fano. Furthermore, we show that all such toric Fano varieties are obtained from smooth Fano polytopes associated to finite directed graphs.
This article gives an overview of toric Fano and toric weak Fano varieties associated to graphs and building sets. We also study some properties of such toric Fano varieties and discuss related topics.
In this paper, we investigate whether the 124 nonsingular toric Fano 4-folds admit totally nondegenerate embeddings from abelian surfaces or not. As a result, we determine the possibilities for such embeddings except for the remaining 21 nonsingular toric Fano 4-folds.
In this paper, we obtain a complete classification of smooth toric Fano varieties equipped with extremal contractions which contract divisors to curves for any dimension. As an application, we obtain a complete classification of smooth projective toric varieties which can be equivariantly blown-up to Fano along curves.
The purpose of this paper is to clarify all of the uniformly relatively Ding stable toric Fano threefolds and fourfolds as well as unstable ones. The key player in our classification result is the Mabuchi constants, which can be calculated by combinatorial data of the associated moment polytopes due to the work of Yao [33]. In Tables 1-3, we give the list of uniform relative Ding stability of all toric Fano manifolds in dimension up to four with the values of the Mabuchi constants. As an application of our main theorem (Theorem 1.1), we clarify the difference between relative $K$-stability and…
In this paper we explain the complete biregular classification of all 4-dimensional smooth toric Fano varieties. The main result states that there exist exactly 123 different types of toric Fano 4-folds up to isomorphism.
We classify toric Fano threefolds having at worst terminal singularities such that a rank of a $G$-invariant part of a class group equals one, where $G$ is a group acting on the variety by automorphisms.
Generalizing the notions of reflexive polytopes and nef-partitions of Batyrev and Borisov, we propose a mirror symmetry construction for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in Fano toric varieties.
We study toric G-solid Fano threefolds that have at most terminal singularities, where G is an algebraic subgroup of the normalizer of a maximal torus in their automorphism groups.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the nonsingular projective toric variety associated to a finite simple graph to be Fano or weak Fano in terms of the graph.
In a work of Costa and Miró-Roig state the following conjecture: Every smooth complete toric Fano variety has a full strongly exceptional collection of line bundles. The goal of this article is to prove it for toric Fano 3-folds.
We show that a nef and big line bundle whose adjoint bundle has non-zero global sections on a nonsingular toric weak Fano 3-fold is normally generated. As a consequence, we see that all ample line bundles on a nonsingular toric weak Fano 3-fold are normally generated. We also show that an ample line bundle whose adjoint bundle has non-zero global sections on a Gorensein toric Fano 3-fold is normally generated. In our proof we do not use full classifications of Fano polytopes.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the nonsingular projective toric variety associated to the graph cubeahedron of a finite simple graph to be Fano or weak Fano in terms of the graph.
We show that a toric Fano contraction associated to an extremal ray whose length is greater than the dimension of its fiber is a projective space bundle.
An inductive approach to classifying toric Fano varieties is given. As an application of this technique, we present a classification of the toric Fano threefolds with at worst canonical singularities. Up to isomorphism, there are 674,688 such varieties.
We present a combinatorial criterion on reflexive polytopes of dimension 3 which gives a local-to-global obstruction for the smoothability of the corresponding Fano toric threefolds. As a result, we show examples of singular Gorenstein Fano toric threefolds which have compound Du Val, hence smoothable, singularities but are not smoothable.
In this paper, we give a tropical method for computing Gromov-Witten type invariants of Fano manifolds of special type. This method applies to those Fano manifolds which admit toric degenerations to toric Fano varieties with singularities allowing small resolutions. Examples include (generalized) flag manifolds of type A, and some moduli space of rank two bundles on a genus two curve.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the nonsingular projective toric variety associated to a building set to be weak Fano in terms of the building set.
We show the properties of the blowup limits of \KRf solutions on Fano surfaces if Riemannian curvature is unbounded. As an application, on every toric Fano surface, we prove that \KRf converges to a Kähler Ricci soliton metric if the initial metric has toric symmetry. Therefore we give a new Ricci flow proof of existence of Kähler Ricci soliton metrics on toric surfaces.
Some of the 124 toric Fano 4-folds contain abelian surfaces but most do not: in a few cases it is not known whether they do or not. By elementary methods, with a little computer help, we exclude some more possibilities.
We prove that a smooth well formed Picard rank one Fano complete intersection of dimension at least 2 in a toric variety is a weighted complete intersection.
We announce a factorization result for equivariant birational morphisms between toric 4-folds whose source is Fano: such a morphism is always a composite of blow-ups along smooth invariant centers. Moreover, we show with a counterexample that, differently from the 3-dimensional case, even if both source and target are Fano, the intermediate varieties can not be chosen Fano.
Bernardi and Tirabassi show the existence of full strong exceptional collections consisting of line bundles on smooth toric Fano $3$-folds under assuming Bondal's conjecture, which states that the Frobenius push-forward of the structure sheaf $\mc O_X$ generates the derived category $D^b(X)$ for smooth projective toric varieties $X$. In this article, we show Bondal's conjecture for smooth toric Fano $3$-folds and also improve their result, using birational geometry.
We completely classify the Q-factorial terminal toric Fano three-folds such that the sum of the squared torus invariant prime divisors is non-negative.
We prove that if there exists a $c_1$-preserving graded ring isomorphism between integral cohomology rings of two Fano Bott manifolds, then they are isomorphic as toric varieties. As a consequence, we give an affirmative answer to McDuff's question on the uniqueness of a toric structure on a Fano Bott manifold.
We give a characterization of Gorenstein toric Fano varieties of dimension $n$ with index $n$ among toric varieties. As an application, we give a strong version of Fujita's freeness conjecture and also give a simple proof of Fujita's very ampleness conjecture on Gorenstein toric varieties.
Toric Landau--Ginzburg models of Givental's type for Fano complete intersections are known to have Calabi--Yau compactifications. We give an alternative proof of this fact. As an output of our proof we get a description of fibers over infinity for compactified toric Landau--Ginzburg models.
We show that any toric Fano manifold of dimension at most eight with the positive second Chern character is isomorphic to the projective space by using polymake.
We investigate Gorenstein toric Fano varieties by combinatorial methods using the notion of a reflexive polytope which appeared in connection to mirror symmetry. The paper contains generalisations of tools and previously known results for nonsingular toric Fano varieties. As applications we obtain new classification results, bounds of invariants and formulate conjectures concerning combinatorial and geometrical properties of reflexive polytopes.
We classify smooth toric Fano varieties of dimension $n\geq 3$ containing a toric divisor isomorphic to $\PP^{n-1}$. As a consequence of this classification, we show that any smooth complete toric variety $X$ of dimension $n\geq 3$ with a $T$-fixed point $x\in X$ such that the blow-up $B_x(X)$ of $X$ at $x$ is Fano is isomorphic either to $\PP^n$ or to the blow-up of $\PP^n$ along a $\PP^{n-2}$. As expected, such results are proved using toric Mori theory due to Reid.
We present a classification of compact Kaehler manifolds admitting a hamiltonian 2-form (which were classified locally in part I of this work). This involves two components of independent interest. The first is the notion of a rigid hamiltonian torus action. This natural condition, for torus actions on a Kaehler manifold, was introduced locally in part I, but such actions turn out to be remarkably well behaved globally, leading to a fairly explicit classification: up to a blow-up, compact Kaehler manifolds with a rigid hamiltonian torus action are bundles of toric Kaehler manifolds. The second…
