The symmetric Macdonald polynomials are able to be constructed out of the non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. This allows us to develop the theory of the symmetric Macdonald polynomials by first developing the theory of their non-symmetric counterparts. In taking this approach we are able to obtain new results as well as simpler and more accessible derivations of a number of the known fundamental properties of both kinds of polynomials.
The branching coefficients in the expansion of the elementary symmetric function multiplied by a symmetric Macdonald polynomial $P_κ(z)$ are known explicitly. These formulas generalise the known $r=1$ case of the Pieri-type formulas for the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials $E_η(z)$. In this paper we extend beyond the case $r=1$ for the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials, giving the full generalisation of the Pieri-type formulas for symmetric Macdonald polynomials. The decomposition also allows the evaluation of the generalised binomial coefficients $\tbinom{η}{ν}_{q,t}$ associated with the n…
We provide elementary identities relating the three known types of non-symmetric interpolation Macdonald polynomials. In addition we derive a duality for non-symmetric interpolation Macdonald polynomials. We consider some applications of these results, in particular for binomial formulas involving non-symmetric interpolation Macdonald polynomials.
In this paper we present a Mathematica notebook for computing nonsymmetric and interpolation Macdonald polynomials. We present the new recursive generation algorithm employed within the notebook and the theory required for its development. We detail the contents of the notebook and conclude with a couple of applications of the notebook.
The Macdonald polynomials with prescribed symmetry are obtained from the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials via the operations of $t$-symmetrisation, $t$-antisymmetrisation and normalisation. Motivated by corresponding results in Jack polynomial theory we proceed to derive an expansion formula and a related normalisation. Eigenoperator methods are used to relate the symmetric and antisymmetric Macdonald polynomials, and we discuss how these methods can be extended to special classes of the prescribed symmetry polynomials in terms of their symmetric counterpart. We compute the explicit form of …
An overview of the basic results on Macdonald(-Koornwinder) polynomials and double affine Hecke algebras is given. We develop the theory in such a way that it naturally encompasses all known cases. Among the basic properties of the Macdonald polynomials we treat are the quadratic norm formulas, duality and the evaluation formulas. This text is a provisional version of a chapter on Macdonald polynomials for volume 5 of the Askey-Bateman project, entitled "Multivariable special functions".
We give an interpretation of the t=1 specialization of the modified Macdonald polynomial as a generating function of the energy statistics defined on the set of paths arising in the context of Box-Ball Systems (BBS-paths for short). We also introduce one parameter generalizations of the energy statistics on the set of BBS-paths which all, conjecturally, have the same distribution.
Nonsymmetric interpolation Laurent polynomials in $n$ variables are introduced, with the interpolation points depending on $q$ and on a $n$-tuple of parameters $τ=(τ_1,\ldots,τ_n)$. When $τ_i=st^{n-i}$ Okounkov's $3$-parameter $BC_n$-type interpolation Macdonald polynomials are recovered from the nonsymmetric interpolation Laurent polynomials through Hecke algebra symmetrisation with respect to a type $C_n$ Hecke algebra action. In the appendix we give some conjectures about extra vanishing, based on Mathematica computations in rank two.
We study the specializations of parameters in Koornwinder polynomials to obtain Macdonald polynomials associated to the subsystems of the affine root system of type $(C_n^\vee,C_n)$ in the sense of Macdonald (2003), and summarize them in what we call the specialization table. As a verification of our argument, we check the specializations to type $B,C$ and $D$ via Ram-Yip type formulas of non-symmetric Koornwinder and Macdonald polynomials.
We give an explicit Pieri formula for Macdonald polynomials attached to the root system C_n (with equal multiplicities). By inversion we obtain an explicit expansion for two-row Macdonald polynomials of type C.
We consider products of two Macdonald polynomials of type A, indexed by dominant weights which are respectively a multiple of the first fundamental weight and a weight having zero component on the k-th fundamental weight. We give the explicit decomposition of any Macdonald polynomial of type A in terms of this basis.
We give a new representation-theoretic proof of the branching rule for Macdonald polynomials using the Etingof-Kirillov Jr. expression for Macdonald polynomials as traces of intertwiners of U_q(gl_n). In the Gelfand-Tsetlin basis, we show that diagonal matrix elements of such intertwiners are given by application of Macdonald's operators to a simple kernel. An essential ingredient in the proof is a map between spherical parts of double affine Hecke algebras of different ranks based upon the Dunkl-Kasatani conjecture.
The Cherednik-Orr conjecture expresses the $t\to\infty$ limit of the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials in terms of the PBW twisted characters of the affine level one Demazure modules. We prove this conjecture in several special cases.
Our main aim with these notes is to introduce the combinatorial and symmetric function tools that relate to the description of the Poincare polynomial of the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of torus links, a.k.a. the (reduced) superpolynomial of these links.
