Let $G$ be a Poisson Lie group and $\g$ its Lie bialgebra. Suppose that $\g$ is a group Lie bialgebra. This means that there is an action of a discrete group $Γ$ on $G$ deforming the Poisson structure into coboundary equivalent ones. Starting from this we construct a non-trivial stack of Hopf-Poisson algebras and prove the existence of associated deformation quantizations. This non-trivial stack is a stack of functions on the formal Poisson group, dual of the starting $Γ$ Poisson-Lie group. To quantize this non-trivial stack we use quantization of a $Γ$ Lie bialgebra which is the infinitesimal of a $Γ$ Poisson-Lie group (cf \cite{MS} for simple Lie groups and $Γ$ a covering of the Weyl group and \cite{EH} for quantization in the general case).
In this paper, we study weak bialgebras and weak Hopf algebras. These algebras form a class wider than bialgebras respectively Hopf algebras. The main results of this paper are Kaplansky's constructions type which lead to weak bialgebras or weak Hopf algebras starting from a regular algebra or a bialgebra. Also we provide a classification of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional weak bialgebras and weak Hopf algebras. We determine then the stabilizer group and the representative of these classes, the action being that of the linear group.
We give the explicit construction of the product of an arbitrary family of coalgebras, bialgebras and Hopf algebras: it turns out that the product of an arbitrary family of coalgebras (resp. bialgebras, Hopf algebras) is the sum of a family of coalgebras (resp. bialgebras, Hopf algebras). The equalizers of two morphisms of coalgebras (resp. bialgebras, Hopf algebras) are also described explicitly. As a consequence the categories of coalgebras, bialgebras and Hopf algebras are shown to be complete and a explicit description for limits in the above categories is given.
New types of bialgebras arising from the Hopf equation (pentagonal equation) are introduced and studied. They will play from the Hopf equation the same role as the co-quasitriangular do from the quantum Yang Baxter equation.
We give explicit formulas for maps in a long exact sequence connecting bialgebra cohomology to Hochschild cohomology. We give a sufficient condition for the connecting homomorphism to be surjective. We apply these results to compute all bialgebra two-cocycles of certain Radford biproducts (bosonizations). These two-cocycles are precisely those associated to the finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras in the recent classification of Andruskiewitsch and Schneider, in an interpretation of these Hopf algebras as graded bialgebra deformations of Radford biproducts.
Let $H$ be a Hopf algebra with bijective antipode over a field $k$ and suppose that $R{#}H$ is a bi-product. Then $R$ is a bialgebra in the Yetter--Drinfel'd category ${}_H^H{\mathcal YD}$. We describe the bialgebras $(R{#}H)^{op}$ and $(R{#}H)^o$ explicitly as bi-products $R^{\UOP}{#}H^{op}$ and $R^{\UO}{#}H^o$ respectively where $R^{\UOP}$ is a bialgebra in ${}^{H^{op}}_{H^{op}}{\mathcal YD}$ and $R^{\UO}$ is a bialgebra in ${}^{H^o}_{H^o}{\mathcal YD}$. We use our results to describe two-cocycle twist bialgebra structures on the tensor product of bi-products.
In this paper, we obtain a canonical factorization of basis elements in free Rota-Baxter algebras built on bracketed words. This canonical factorization is applied to give a coalgebra structure on the free Rota-Baxter algebras. Together with the Rota-Baxter algebra multiplication, this coproduct gives a bialgebra structure on the free Rota-Baxter algebra of rooted forests. When the weight of the Rota-Baxter algebra is zero, we further obtain a Hopf algebra structure.
Twisted homomorphisms of bialgebras are bialgebra homomorphisms from the first into Drinfeld twistings of the second. They possess a composition operation extending composition of bialgebra homomorphisms. Gauge transformations of twists, compatible with adjacent homomorphisms, give rise to gauge transformation of twisted homomorphisms, which behave nicely with respect to compositions. Here we study (gauge classes of) twisted automorphisms of cocommutative Hopf algebras. After revising well-known relations between twists, twisted forms of bialgebras and $R$-matrices (for commutative bialgebras)…
Weak (Hopf) bialgebras are described as (Hopf) bimonoids in appropriate duoidal (also known as 2-monoidal) categories. This interpretation is used to define a category wba of weak bialgebras over a given field. As an application, the "free vector space" functor from the category of small categories with finitely many objects to wba is shown to possess a right adjoint, given by taking (certain) group-like elements. This adjunction is proven to restrict to the full subcategories of groupoids and of weak Hopf algebras, respectively. As a corollary, we obtain equivalences between the category of s…
Hom-bialgebras and Hom-Hopf algebras are generalizations of bialgebra and Hopf algebra structures, where associativity and coassociativity conditions are twisted by a homomorphism. The purpose of this paper is to define a Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomology complex for Hom-bialgebras and then study one parameter formal deformations.
We give a detailed comparison between the notion of a weak Hopf algebra (also called a quantum groupoid by Nikshych and Vainerman), and that of a $\times_R$-bialgebra due to Takeuchi (and also called a bialgebroid or quantum (semi)groupoid by Lu and Xu). A weak bialgebra is the same thing as a $\times_R$-bialgebra in which $R$ is Frobenius-separable. We extend the comparison to cover module and comodule theory, duality, and the question when a bialgebroid should be called a Hopf algebroid.
The Structure Theorem for Hopf modules states that if a bialgebra $H$ is a Hopf algebra (i.e. it is endowed with a so-called antipode) then every Hopf module $M$ is of the form ${M}^{\mathrm{co}{H}}\otimes H$, where ${M}^{\mathrm{co}{H}}$ denotes the space of coinvariant elements in $M$. Actually, it has been shown that this result characterizes Hopf algebras: $H$ is a Hopf algebra if and only if every Hopf module $M$ can be decomposed in such a way. The main aim of this paper is to extend this characterization to the framework of quasi-bialgebras by introducing the notion of preantipode and b…
This article introduces a method, which starting from simple and quite general mathematical data, allows to construct linear algebras of operators which are, each of them, endowed with a bialgebra structure (coproduct and counity). Moreover under some explicit and natural conditions on theses mathematical data we obtain linear algebras of operators with the following property: each of them, is either a Hopf algebra, or its bialgebra structure determines a more abstract Hopf algebra associated with it. Finally, we describe a more general abstract condition for theses bialgebras to admit a uniqu…
Motivated by the Hopf algebra structures established on free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras, we explore Hopf algebra related structures on free commutative Nijenhuis algebras. Applying a cocycle condition, we first prove that a free commutative Nijenhuis algebra on a left counital bialgebra (in the sense that the right-sided counicity needs not hold) can be enriched to a left counital bialgebra. We then establish a general result that a connected graded left counital bialgebra is a left counital right antipode Hopf algebra in the sense that the antipode is also only right-sided. We finally a…
The subject of this article are cross product bialgebras without co-cycles. We establish a theory characterizing cross product bialgebras universally in terms of projections and injections. Especially all known types of biproduct, double cross product and bicross product bialgebras can be described by this theory. Furthermore the theory provides new families of (co-cycle free) cross product bialgebras. Besides the universal characterization we find an equivalent (co-)modular description of certain types of cross product bialgebras in terms of so-called Hopf data. With the help of Hopf data con…
By a theorem of Majid, every monoidal category with a neutral quasi-monoidal functor to finitely-generated and projective $\Bbbk$-modules gives rise to a coquasi-bialgebra. We prove that if the category is also rigid, then the associated coquasi-bialgebra admits a preantipode, providing in this way an analogue for coquasi-bialgebras of Ulbrich's reconstruction theorem for Hopf algebras. When $\Bbbk$ is field, this allows us to characterize coquasi-Hopf algebras as well in terms of rigidity of finite-dimensional corepresentations.
Hopf (bi-)modules and crossed modules over a bialgebra B in a braided monoidal category C are considered. The (braided) monoidal equivalence of both categories is proved provided B is a Hopf algebra (with invertible antipode). Bialgebra projections and Hopf bimodule bialgebras over a Hopf algebra in C are found to be isomorphic categories. As a consequence a generalization of the Radford-Majid criterion for a braided Hopf algebra to be a cross product is obtained. The results of this paper turn out to be fundamental for the construction of (bicovariant) differential calculi on braided Hopf alg…
It is known that a dual quasi-bialgebra with antipode $H$, i.e. a dual quasi-Hopf algebra, fulfils a fundamental theorem for right dual quasi-Hopf $H$-bicomodules. The converse in general is not true. We prove that, for a dual quasi-bialgebra $H$, the structure theorem amounts to the existence of a suitable map $S:H\rightarrow H$ that we call a preantipode of $H$.
Given a weak distributive law between algebras underlying two weak bialgebras, we present sufficient conditions under which the corresponding weak wreath product algebra becomes a weak bialgebra with respect to the tensor product coalgebra structure. When the weak bialgebras are weak Hopf algebras, then the same conditions are shown to imply that the weak wreath product becomes a weak Hopf algebra, too. Our sufficient conditions are capable to describe most known examples, (in particular the Drinfel'd double of a weak Hopf algebra).
The cyclic (co)homology of Hopf algebras is defined by Connes and Moscovici [math.DG/9806109] and later extended by Khalkhali et.al [math.KT/0306288] to admit stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld coefficient module/comodules. In this paper we will show that one can further extend the cyclic homology of Hopf algebras with coefficients non-trivially. The new homology, called the bialgebra cyclic homology, admits stable coefficient module/comodules, dropping the anti-Yetter-Drinfeld condition. This fact allows the new homology to use bialgebras, not just Hopf algebras. We will also give computations for b…
Incidence coalgebras of categories in the sense of Joni and Rota are studied, specifically cases where a monoidal product on the category turns these into (weak) bialgebras. The overlap with the theory of combinatorial Hopf algebras and that of Hopf quivers is discussed, and examples including trees, skew shapes, Milner's bigraphs and crossed modules are considered.
The theories of (Hopf) bialgebras and weak (Hopf) bialgebras have been introduced for vector space categories over fields and make heavily use of the tensor product. As first generalisations, these notions were formulated for monoidal categories, with braidings if needed. The present authors developed a theory of bimonads and Hopf monads $H$ on arbitrary categories $\mathbb{A}$, employing distributive laws, allowing for a general form of the Fundamental Theorem for Hopf algebras. For $τ$-bimonads $H$, properties of braided (Hopf) bialgebras were captured by requiring a Yang-Baxter operator $τ:…
Let $A$ be a Hopf algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic zero such that its coradical $H$ is a finite dimensional sub-Hopf algebra. Our main theorem shows that there is a gauge transformation $ζ$ on $A$ such that $A^ζ\cong Q#H$ where $A^ζ$ is the dual quasi-bialgebra obtained from $A$ by twisting its multiplication by $ζ$, $Q$ is a connected dual quasi-bialgebra in $^H_H\mathcal{YD}$ and $Q #H $ is a dual quasi-bialgebra called the bosonization of $Q$ by $H$.
We describe a new method of quantization of Lie bialgebras, based on a construction of Hopf algebras out of a cocommutative coalgebra and a braided comonoidal functor.
We show that, under some mild conditions, a bialgebra in an abelian and coabelian braided monoidal category has a weak projection onto a formally smooth (as a coalgebra) sub-bialgebra with antipode; see Theorem 1.12. In the second part of the paper we prove that bialgebras with weak projections are cross product bialgebras; see Theorem 2.12. In the particular case when the bialgebra $A$ is cocommutative and a certain cocycle associated to the weak projection is trivial we prove that $A$ is a double cross product, or biproduct in Madjid's terminology. The last result is based on a universal pro…
An internal coproduct is described, which is compatible with Hoffman's quasi-shuffle product. Hoffman's quasi-shuffle Hopf algebra, with deconcatenation coproduct, is a comodule-Hopf algebra over the bialgebra thus defined. The relation with J. Ecalle's mould calculus, i.e. mould composition and contracting arborification, is precised.
We introduce the analogue of Manin's universal coacting (bialgebra) Hopf algebra for Poisson algebras. First, for two given Poisson algebras $P$ and $U$, where $U$ is finite dimensional, we construct a Poisson algebra $\mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ together with a Poisson algebra homomorphism $ψ_{\mathcal{B}(P,\,U)} \colon P \to U \otimes \mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ satisfying a suitable universal property. $\mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ is shown to admit a Poisson bialgebra structure for any pair of Poisson algebra homomorphisms subject to certain compatibility conditions. If $P=U$ is a finite dimensional Poisson alg…
We develop an algebraic theory of colored, semigrouplike-flavored and pathlike co-, bi- and Hopf algebras. This is the right framework in which to discuss antipodes for bialgebras naturally appearing in combinatorics, topology, number theory and physics. In particular, we can precisely give conditions for the invertibility of characters that is needed for renormalization in the formulation of Connes and Kreimer. These are met in the relevant examples. In order to construct antipodes, we discuss formal localization constructions and quantum deformations. These allow to define and explain the ap…
Let $H$ be a $\times$-bialgebra in the sense of Takeuchi. We show that if $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, and if $H$ fulfills the finiteness condition necessary to define its skew dual $H^\vee$, then the coopposite of the latter is $\times$-Hopf as well. If in addition the coopposite $\times$-bialgebra of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, then the coopposite of the Drinfeld double of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, as is the Drinfeld double itself, under an additional finiteness condition.
One problematic feature of Hall algebras is the fact that the standard multiplication and comultiplication maps do not satisfy the bialgebra compatibility condition in the underlying symmetric monoidal category Vect. In the past this problem has been resolved by working with a weaker structure called a `twisted' bialgebra. In this paper we solve the problem differently by first switching to a different underlying category Vect^K of vector spaces graded by a group K called the Grothendieck group. We equip this category with a nontrivial braiding which depends on the K-grading. With this braidin…
This notes gives a proof that a connected coaugmented cofiltered coalgebra is a conilpotent coalgebra and thus a connected coaugmented cofiltered bialgebra is a Hopf algebra. This applies in particular to a connected coaugmented cograded coalgebra and a connected coaugmented cograded bialgebra.
We construct a Hopf algebra structure on the space of specified Feynman graphs of a quantum field theory. We introduce a convolution product and a semigroup of characters of this Hopf algebra with values in some suitable commutative algebra taking momenta into account. We then implement the renormalization described by A. Connes and D. Kreimer and the Birkhoff decomposition for two renormalization schemes: the minimal subtraction scheme and the Taylor expansion scheme.
In the paper we introduce the notion of twisted derivation of a bialgebra. Twisted derivations appear as infinitesimal symmetries of the category of representations. More precisely they are infinitesimal versions of twisted automorphisms of bialgebras. Twisted derivations naturally form a Lie algebra (the tangent algebra of the group of twisted automorphisms). Moreover this Lie algebra fits into a crossed module (tangent to the crossed module of twisted automorphisms). Here we calculate this crossed module for universal enveloping algebras and for the Sweedler's Hopf algebra.
The paper deals with three topics on coquasitriangular bialgebras. A characterization of universal r-forms in terms of Yetter-Drinfeld modules is given. All universal r-forms for the coordinate Hopf algebras of the quantum groups GL_q(N), SL_q(N), O_q(N) and Sp_q(N) are described. It is well-known that the square of the antipode of a coquasitriangular Hopf algebra A with universal r-form r can be expressed by means of the linear functional f_r(a)=r(a_{(1)}\otimes S(a_{(2)})), a\in A. For the standard compact matrix groups the functional f_r is related to the Woronowicz modular character f_{-2}…
We observe that the Connes--Kreimer Hopf-algebraic approach to perturbative renormalisation works not just for Hopf algebras but more generally for filtered bialgebras $B$ with the property that $B_0$ is spanned by group-like elements (e.g. pointed bialgebras with the coradical filtration). Such bialgebras occur naturally both in Quantum Field Theory, where they have some attractive features, and elsewhere in Combinatorics, where they cover a comprehensive class of incidence bialgebras. In particular, the setting allows us to interpret Möbius inversion as an instance of renormalisation.
Additive deformations of bialgebras in the sense of J. Wirth, i.e. deformations of the multiplication map fulfilling a certain compatibility condition w.r.t. the coalgebra structure, can be generalized to braided bialgebras. The theorems for additive deformations of Hopf algebras can also be carried over to that case. We consider *-structures and prove a general Schoenberg correspondence in this context. Finally we give some examples.
We extend the notion of Poisson-Lie groups and Lie bialgebras from Poisson to g-quasi-Poisson geometry and provide a quantization to braided Hopf algebras in the corresponding Drinfeld category. The basic examples of these g-quasi-Poisson Lie groups are nilpotent radicals of parabolic subgroups. We also provide examples of moment maps in this new context coming from moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces.
We prove that both, the embedding of the category of Hopf algebras into that of bialgebras and the forgetful functor from the category of Hopf algebras to the category of algebras, have right adjoints; in other words: every bialgebra has a Hopf coreflection and on every algebra there exists a cofree Hopf algebra. In this way we give an affirmative answer to a forty years old problem posed by Sweedler. On the route the coequalizers and the coproducts in the category of Hopf algebras are explicitly described.
For $(Q,W)$ a symmetric quiver with potential satisfying a Künneth-type condition, we construct (positive and negative) extensions of its K-theoretic Hall algebra which are bialgebras. In particular, there are bialgebra extensions of preprojective KHAs of a quiver $Q$ and one can construct their Drinfeld double algebra.
In this paper we focus on a certain self-distributive multiplication on coalgebras, which leads to so-called rack bialgebra. Inspired by semi-group theory (adapting the Suschkewitsch theorem), we do some structure theory for rack bialgebras and cocommutative Hopf dialgebras. We also construct canonical rack bialgebras (some kind of enveloping algebras) for any Leibniz algebra and compare to the existing constructions. We are motivated by a differential geometric procedure which we call the Serre functor: To a pointed differentible manifold with multiplication is associated its distribution spa…
We introduce the categories of infinitesimal Hopf modules and bimodules over an infinitesimal bialgebra. We show that they correspond to modules and bimodules over the infinitesimal version of the double. We show that there is a natural, but non-obvious way to construct a pre-Lie algebra from an arbitrary infinitesimal bialgebra and a dendriform algebra from a quasitriangular infinitesimal bialgebra. As consequences, we obtain a pre-Lie structure on the space of paths on an arbitrary quiver, and a striking dendriform structure on the space of endomorphisms of an arbitrary infinitesimal bialgeb…
V. Ginzburg, and independently R. Bocklandt and L. Le Bruyn, defined an infinite-dimensional "necklace" Lie algebra canonically associated to any quiver. Following suggestions of V. Turaev, P. Etingof, and Ginzburg, we define a cobracket and prove that it defines a Lie bialgebra structure. We then present a Hopf algebra quantizing this Lie bialgebra, and prove that it is a Hopf algebra satisfying the PBW property. We present representations into spaces of differential operators on representations of the quiver, which quantize the trace representations of the Lie algebra given by Ginzburg.
This paper studied what shall be called the Long equation: that is the system of nonlinear equation $R^{12}R^{13}=R^{13}R^{12}$ and $R^{12}R^{23}= R^{23}R^{12}$. Any solution of this system supplies us a solution for the integrability solution of Knizhnic-Zamolodchikov equation. We shall approach this equation by introducing a new class of bialgebras, which we call Long bialgebras. A FRT type theorem is given: in the finite case any solution of the above equation is a co-homotety where the vector spase is a comodule over a Long bialgebra.
If A is a bialgebra over a field k and M, N are either left-right Yetter-Drinfel'd modules or left-right Hopf modules over A, we construct deformation cohomologies H^*(M,N) as total cohomologies of certain double complexes Y(M,N) and C(M,N), respectively. In both cases, H^1(M,N) is isomorphic to the group of equivalence classes of extensions of M by N in the corresponding category. In the Yetter-Drinfel'd case, H^*(k,k) is just the Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomology of the bialgebra A. If M, N are Hopf bimodules we construct a natural subbicomplex of the above C(M,N), yielding a cohomology theory …
The notion of a modified Rota-Baxter algebra comes from the combination of those of a Rota-Baxter algebra and a modified Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we first construct free modified Rota-Baxter algebras. We then equip a free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a bialgebra structure by a cocycle construction. Under the assumption that the generating algebra is a connected bialgebra, we further equip the free modified Rota-Baxter algebra with a Hopf algebra structure.
The abelian category of tetramodules over an associative bialgebra $A$ is related with the Gerstenhaber-Schack (GS) cohomology as $Ext_\Tetra(A,A)=H_\GS(A)$. We construct a 2-fold monoidal structure on the category of tetramodules of a bialgebra. Suppose $C$ is an abelian $n$-fold monoidal category with the unit object $A$. We prove, provided some condition (*), that $Ext_C(A,A)$ is an $(n+1)$-algebra. In the case of bialgebras this condition (*) is satisfied when $A$ is a Hopf algebra. Finally, the GS cohomology of a Hopf algebra is a 3-algebra. As well, we consider this kind of questions of …
We prove that a quasi-bialgebra admits a preantipode if and only if the associated free quasi-Hopf bimodule functor is Frobenius, if and only if the relative (opmonoidal) monad is a Hopf monad. The same results hold in particular for a bialgebra, tightening the connection between Hopf and Frobenius properties.
We propose a variant to the Etingof-Kazhdan construction of quantization functors. We construct the twistor J_Φassociated to an associator Φusing cohomological techniques. We then introduce a criterion ensuring that the ``left Hopf algebra'' of a quasitriangular QUE algebra is flat. We prove that this criterion is satisfied at the universal level. This provides a construction of quantization functors, equivalent to the Etingof-Kazhdan construction.
We give functorial recipes to get, out of any Hopf algebra over a field, two pairs of Hopf algebras which have some geometrical content. When the ground field has characteristic zero, the first pair is made by a function algebra over a connected Poisson group and a universal enveloping algebra over a Lie bialgebra. In addition, the Poisson group as a variety is an affine space, and the Lie bialgebra as a Lie algebra is graded. Forgetting these last details, the second pair is of the same type. When the Hopf algebra H we start from is already of geometric type the result involves Poisson dualit…
The main goal of this paper is to investigate the structure of Hopf algebras with the property that either its Jacobson radical is a Hopf ideal or its coradical is a subalgebra. In order to do that we define the Hochschild cohomology of an algebra in an abelian monoidal category. Then we characterize those algebras which have dimension less than or equal to 1 with respect to Hochschild cohomology. Now let us consider a Hopf algebra A such that its Jacobson radical J is a nilpotent Hopf ideal and H:=A/J is a semisimple algebra. By using our homological results, we prove that the canonical proje…
Proposing a certain category of bialgebroid maps we show that the balanced depth 2 extensions appear as they were the finitary Galois extensions in the context of quantum groupoid actions, i.e., actions by finite bialgebroids, weak bialgebras or weak Hopf algebras. We comment on deformation of weak bialgebras, on half grouplike elements, on uniqueness of weak Hopf algebra reconstructions and discuss the example of separable field extensions.
Braided-Lie bialgebras have been introduced by Majid, as the Lie versions of Hopf algebras in braided categories. In this paper we extend previous work of Majid and of ours to show that there is a braided-Lie bialgebra associated to each inclusion of Kac-Moody bialgebras. Doing so, we obtain many new examples of infinite-dimensional braided-Lie bialgebras. We analyze further the case of untwisted affine Kac-Moody bialgebras associated to finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras. The inclusion we study is that of the finite-type algebra in the affine algebra. This braided-Lie bialgebra is isomorp…
We find and classify all bialgebras and Hopf algebras or `quantum groups' of dimension $\le 4$ over the field $\Bbb F_2=\{0,1\}$. We summarise our results as a quiver, where the vertices are the inequivalent algebras and there is an arrow for each inequivalent bialgebra or Hopf algebra built from the algebra at the source of the arrow and the dual of the algebra at the target of the arrow. There are 314 distinct bialgebras, and among them 25 Hopf algebras with at most one of these from one vertex to another. We find a unique smallest noncommutative and noncocommutative one, which is moreover s…
We describe all the quasi-bialgebra structures of a group algebra over a torsion-free abelian group. They all come out to be triangular in a unique way. Moreover, up to an isomorphism, these quasi-bialgebra structures produce only one (braided) monoidal structure on the category of their representations. Applying these results to the algebra of Laurent polynomials, we recover two braided monoidal categories introduced in \cite{CG} by S. Caenepeel and I. Goyvaerts in connection with Hom-structures (Lie algebras, algebras, coalgebras, Hopf algebras).
We define a graded multiplication on the vector space of essential paths on a graph $G$ (a tree) and show that it is associative. In most interesting applications, this tree is an ADE Dynkin diagram. The vector space of length preserving endomorphisms of essential paths has a grading obtained from the length of paths and possesses several interesting bialgebra structures. One of these, the Double Triangle Algebra (DTA) of A. Ocneanu, is a particular kind of quantum groupoid (a weak Hopf algebra) and was studied elsewhere; its coproduct gives a filtrated convolution product on the dual vector s…
Realizing the possibility suggested by Hardouin [6], we show that her own Picard-Vessiot Theory for iterative $q$-difference rings is covered by the (consequently, more general) framework, settled by Amano and Masuoka [2], of artinian simple module algebras over a cocommutative pointed Hopf algebra. An essential point is to represent iterative $q$-difference modules over an iterative $q$-difference ring $R$, by modules over a certain cocommutative $\times_R$-bialgebra. Recall that the notion of $\times_R$-bialgebras was defined by Sweedler [17], as a generalization of bialgebras.
