We investigate the elliptic analogs of multi-indexed polylogarithms that appear in the theory of the fundamental group of the projective line minus three points as sections of a universal nilpotent bundle with regular singular connection. We use an analytic uniformisation to derive the fundamental nilpotent De Rham torsor of a single elliptic curve in terms of a double Jacobi form introduced by Kronecker. We then extend this result to any smooth family, relatively to the base, i.e., to the moduli stack $M_{1,2}$ over $M_{1,1}$. Everything relies on explicit formulas that turn out to be algebraic for rational (families of) elliptic curves, and we conclude by providing the corresponding natural $\QM$ structure.
In this paper, we give an explicit description of the de Rham and p-adic polylogarithms for elliptic curves using the Kronecker theta function. We prove in particular that when the elliptic curve has complex multiplication and good reduction at p, then the specializations to torsion points of the p-adic elliptic polylogarithm are related to p-adic Eisenstein-Kronecker numbers, proving a p-adic analogue of the result of Beilinson and Levin expressing the complex elliptic polylogarithm in terms of Eisenstein-Kronecker-Lerch series. Our result is valid even if the elliptic curve has supersingular…
We give an explicit description of the syntomic elliptic polylogarithm on the universal elliptic curve over the ordinary locus of the modular curve in terms of certain $p$-adic analytic moment functions associated to Katz' two-variable $p$-adic Eisenstein measure. The present work generalizes previous results of Bannai-Kobayashi-Tsuji and Bannai-Kings on the syntomic Eisenstein classes.
The specializations of the motivic elliptic polylog are called motivic Eisenstein classes. For applications to special values of L-Functions, it is important to compute the realizations of these classes. In this paper, we prove that the syntomic realization of the motivic Eisenstein classes, restricted to the ordinary locus of the modular curve, may be expressed using p-adic Eisenstein-Kronecker series. These p-adic modular forms are defined using the two-variable p-adic measure with values in p-adic modular forms constructed by Katz.
This thesis establishes a geometric approach to the de Rham realization of the polylogarithm. As a central result we construct the logarithm sheaves of rational abelian schemes in terms of the birigidified Poincaré bundle with universal integrable connection on the product of the abelian scheme and the universal vectorial extension of its dual. This is achieved essentially by restricting the mentioned data of the Poincaré bundle along the infinitesimal neighborhoods of the zero section of the universal extension. We also clarify how these constructions naturally express within the language of …
This is a completely rewritten version of the paper formerly entitled "Sheaves of Iwasawa modules, moment maps and the $\ell$-adic elliptic polylogarithm". The proof of the main result is also simplified. In the paper we study systematically the $\ell$-adic realization of the elliptic polylogarithm in the context of sheaves of Iwasawa modules. This leads to a description of the elliptic polylogarithm in terms of elliptic units. As an application we prove a precise relation between $\ell$-adic Eisenstein classes and elliptic Soulé elements. This allows to give a new proof of the formula for the…
In this paper, we describe the algebraic de Rham realization of the elliptic polylogarithm for arbitrary families of elliptic curves in terms of the Poincaré bundle. Our work builds on previous work of Scheider and generalizes results of Bannai-Kobayashi-Tsuji and Scheider. As an application, we compute the de Rham Eisenstein classes explicitly in terms of certain algebraic Eisenstein series.
We study the de Rham fundamental group of the configuration space $E^{(n)}$ of $n+1$ marked points on an elliptic curve $E$, and define multiple elliptic polylogarithms. These are multivalued functions on $E^{(n)}$ with unipotent monodromy, and are constructed by a general averaging procedure. We show that all iterated integrals on $E^{(n)}$, and in particular the periods of the unipotent fundamental group of the punctured curve $E \backslash \{0\}$, can be expressed in terms of these functions.
Numerous examples of functional relations for multiple polylogarithms are known. For elliptic polylogarithms, however, tools for the exploration of functional relations are available, but only very few relations are identified. Starting from an approach of Zagier and Gangl, which in turn is based on considerations about an elliptic version of the Bloch group, we explore functional relations between elliptic polylogarithms and link them to the relations which can be derived using the elliptic symbol formalism. The elliptic symbol formalism in turn allows for an alternative proof of the validity…
We develop the theory of multiple polylogarithms from analytic, Hodge and motivic point of view. Define the category of mixed Tate motives over a ring of integers in a number field. Describe explicitly the multiple polylogarithm Hopf algebra.
In this paper we shall define the analytic continuation of the multiple polylogarithms by using Chen's theory of iterated path integrals and compute the monodromy of all multiple logarithms explicitly.
It's well known that multiple polylogarithms give rise to good unipotent variations of mixed Hodge-Tate structures. In this paper we shall {\em explicitly} determine these structures related to multiple logarithms and some other multiple polylogarithms of lower weights. The purpose of this explicit construction is to give some important applications: First we study of the limit mixed Hodge-Tate structures and make a conjecture relating the variations of mixed Hodge-Tate structures of multiple logarithms to those of general multiple {\em poly}logarithms. Then following Deligne and Beilinson we …
The relationship between the Ohno relation and multiple polylogarithms are discussed. Using this relationship, the algebraic reduction of the Ohno relation is given.
We establish a tannakian formalism of $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms and $p$-adic multiple zeta values introduced in our previous paper via a comparison isomorphism between a de Rham fundamental torsor and a rigid fundamental torsor of the projective line minus three points and also discuss its Hodge and etale analogues. As an application we give a way to erase log poles of $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms and introduce overconvergent $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms which might be $p$-adic multiple analogue of Zagier's single-valued complex polylogarithms.
In this paper, we give a natural construction of mixed Tate motives whose periods are a class of iterated integrals which include the multiple polylogarithm functions. Given such an iterated integral, we construct two divisors $A$ and $B$ in the moduli spaces $\mathcal{\bar{M}}_{0,n}$ of $n$-pointed stable curves of genus 0, and prove that the cohomology of the pair $(\mathcal{\bar{M}}_{0,n}-A,B-B\cap A)$ is a framed mixed Tate motive whose period is that integral. It generalizes the results of A. Goncharov and Yu. Manin for multiple zeta values. Then we apply our construction to the dilogarit…
We prove the $\boldsymbol{p}$-adic duality theorem for the finite star-multiple polylogarithms. That is a generalization of Hoffman's duality theorem for the finite multiple zeta-star values.
We construct algebraic cycles in Bloch's cubical cycle group which correspond to multiple polylogarithms with generic arguments. Moreover, we construct out of them a Hopf subalgebra in the Bloch-Kriz cycle Hopf algebra. In the process, we are led to other Hopf algebras built from trees and polygons, which are mapped to the latter. We relate the coproducts to the one for Goncharov's motivic multiple polylogarithms and to the Connes-Kreimer coproduct on plane trees and produce the associated Hodge realization for polygons.
In this paper, we define finite Carlitz multiple polylogarithms and show that every finite multiple zeta value over the rational function field $\mathbb{F}_{q}(θ)$ is an $\mathbb{F}_{q}(θ)$-linear combination of finite Carlitz multiple polylogarithms at integral points. It is completely compatible with the formula for Thakur MZV's established in [C14].
In this article, we express solutions of the Gauss hypergeometric equation as a series of the multiple polylogarithms by using iterated integral. This representation is the most simple case of a semisimple representation of solutions of the formal KZ equation. Moreover, combining this representation with the connection relations of solutions of the Gauss hypergeometric equation, we obtain various relations of the multiple polylogarithms of one variable and the multiple zeta values.
We define subvarieties of $\mathcal{M}_{0,n}$ equipped with algebraic functions that are solutions to the generic double shuffle equations satisfied by multiple polylogarithms on $\mathcal{M}_{0,n}$.
We give a finite analogue of the well-known formula $\mathrm{Li}_{\underbrace{1, \ldots, 1}_n}(t) = \frac{1}{n!}\mathrm{Li}_1(t)^n$ of multiple polylogarithms for any positive integer n by using the shuffle relation of finite multiple polylogarithms of Ono-Yamamoto type. Unlike the usual case, the terms regarded as error terms appear in this formula. As a corollary, we obtain $"t \leftrightarrow 1 - t"$ type new functional equations of finite multiple polylogarithms of Ono-Yamamoto type and Sakugawa-Seki type.
In this paper we consider iterated integrals of multiple polylogarithm functions and prove some explicit relations of multiple polylogarithm functions. Then we apply the relations obtained to find numerous formulas of alternating multiple zeta values in terms of unit-exponent alternating multiple zeta values. In particular, we prove several conjectures given by Borwein-Bradley-Broadhurst \cite{BBBL1997}, and give some general results. Furthermore, we discuss Kaneko-Yamamoto multiple zeta values, and establish some relations between it and multiple zeta values. Finally, we establish a linear re…
It is known that multiple zeta values can be written in terms of certain iterated log-sine integrals. Conversely, we evaluate iterated log-sine integrals in terms of multiple polylogarithms and multiple zeta values in this paper. We also suggest some conjectures on multiple zeta values, multiple Clausen values, multiple Glaisher values and iterated log-sine integrals.
We introduce the multivariable connected sum which is a generalization of Seki-Yamamoto's connected sum and prove the fundamental identity for these sums by series manipulation. This identity yields explicit procedures for evaluating multivariable connected sums and for giving relations among special values of multiple polylogarithms. In particular, our class of relations contains Ohno's relations for multiple polylogarithms.
The Mahler measures of certain polynomials of up to five variables are given in terms of multiple polylogarithms. Each formula is homogeneous and its weight coincides with the number of variables of the corresponding polynomial.
We present new functional equations in weights 5, 6 and 7 and use them for explicit depth reduction of multiple polylogarithms. These identities generalize the crucial identity $\mathbf{Q}_4$ from the recent work of Goncharov and Rudenko that was used in their proof of the weight 4 case of Zagier's Polylogarithm Conjecture.
For any positive integer $N$ let $μ_N$ be the group of the $N$th roots of unity. In this note we shall study the $\Q$-linear relations among values of multiple polylogarithms evaluated at $\mmu_N$. We show that the standard relations considered by Racinet do not provide all the possible relations in the following cases: (i) level N=4, weight $w=3$ or 4, and (ii) $w=2$, $7<N<50$, and $N$ is a power of 2 or 3, or $N$ has at least two prime factors. We further find some (presumably all) of the missing relations in (i) by using the octahedral symmetry of $¶^1-(\{0,\infty\}\cup μ_4)$. We also prove…
We consider multiple polylogarithms in a single variable at non-positive integers. Defining a connected graded Hopf algebra, we apply Connes' and Kreimer's algebraic Birkhoff decomposition to renormalize multiple polylogarithms at non-positive integer arguments, which satisfy the shuffle relation. The q-analogue of this result is as well presented, and compared to the classical case.
In earlier work we studied features of non-holomorphic modular functions associated with Feynman graphs for a conformal scalar field theory on a two-dimensional torus with zero external momenta at all vertices. Such functions, which we will refer to as modular graph functions, arise, for example, in the low energy expansion of genus-one Type II superstring amplitudes. We here introduce a class of single-valued elliptic multiple polylogarithms, which are defined as elliptic functions associated with Feynman graphs with vanishing external momenta at all but two vertices. These functions depend o…
In this paper, we define a finite sum analogue of multiple polylogarithms inspired by the work of Kaneko and Zaiger and prove that they satisfy a certain analogue of the shuffle relation. Our result is obtained by using a certain partial fraction decomposition due to Komori-Matsumoto-Tsumura. As a corollary, we give an algebraic interpretation of our shuffle product.
The duality relation of one-variable multiple polylogarithms was proved by Hirose, Iwaki, Sato and Tasaka by means of iterated integrals. In this paper, we give a new proof using the method of connected sums, which was recently invented by Seki and the author. Interestingly, the connected sum involves the hypergeometric function in its connector. Moreover, we introduce two kinds of $q$-analogues of the one-variable multiple polylogarithms and generalize the duality to them.
Recently, several people study finite multiple zeta values (FMZVs) and finite polylogarithms (FPs). In this paper, we introduce finite multiple polylogarithms (FMPs), which are natural generalizations of FMZVs and FPs, and we establish functional equations of FMPs. As applications of these functional equations, we calculate special values of FMPs containing generalizations of congruences obtained by Meštrović, Z. W. Sun, Z. W. Sun-L. L. Zhao, and Tauraso-J. Zhao. We show supercongruences for certain generalized Bernoulli numbers and the Bernoulli numbers as an appendix.
In this paper we show that the iterated integrals on products of one variable multiple polylogarithms from 0 to 1 are actually multiple zeta values if they are convergent. In the divergent case, we define regularized iterated integrals from 0 to 1. By the same method, we show that the regularized iterated integrals are also multiple zeta values. As an application, we give new series representations for multiple zeta values and calculate some interesting examples of iterated integrals.
We generalize the definition of overconvergent $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms and of $p$-adic cyclotomic multiple zeta values and we prove a bound on their norm. A byproduct of the proof is a characterization of these objects in terms of certain regularized $p$-adic iterated integrals. The generalization of the definition consists in replacing the underlying Frobenius structure by its iterations. The bound on the norms of overconvergent $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms that we obtain is a prerequisite for our subsequent papers on $p$-adic cyclotomic multiple zeta values.
We shall define the q-analogs of multiple zeta functions and multiple polylogarithms in this paper and study their properties, based on the work of Kaneko et al. and Schlesinger, respectively.
The goal of the paper is to give a systematic way to numerically evaluate the generating function of a periodic multiple polylogarithm using a Chen-Fliess series with a rational generating series. The idea is to realize the corresponding Chen-Fliess series as a bilinear dynamical system. A standard form for such a realization is given. The method is also generalized to the case where the multiple polylogarithm has non-periodic components. This allows one, for instance, to numerically validate the Hoffman conjecture. Finally, a setting in terms of dendriform algebras is provided.
The special values of multiple polylogarithms, which including multiple zeta values, appear some fields of mathematics and physics. Many kinds of their linear relations are investigated as well as their algebraic relations. From the viewpoint of a connection matrix of Fuchsian equations, we derive two kinds of duality of these values.
Our aim of this paper is to propose a method of analytic continuation of Carlitz multiple (star) polylogarithms to the whole space by using Artin-Schreier equation and present a treatment of their branches by introducing the notion of monodromy modules. As applications of this method, we obtain (1) a method of continuation of the logarithms of higher tensor powers of Carlitz module, (2) the orthogonal property (Chang-Mishiba functional relations), (3) a branch independency of the Eulerian property.
We express a general multiple polylogarithm of weight n as an explicit linear combination of multiple polylogarithms of weight n in n-2 variables. We express a general multiple polylogarithm of weight 4 as an explicit linear combination of multiple polylogarithms of type (3,1). We deduce a 4 parameters functional equation expressing a certain linear combination of multiple polylogarithms of type (3,1) as a linear combination of polylogarithms of weight 4.
We describe a solution of the Gauss hypergeometric equation, $F(α,β,γ;z)$ by power series in paramaters $α,β,γ$ whose coefficients are $\Z$ linear combinations of multiple polylogarithms. And using the representation and connection reletions of solutions of the hypergeometric equation, we show some relations of multiple zeta values.
In this paper, we give a simultaneous vanishing principle for the $v$-adic Carlitz multiple polylogarithms (abbreviated as CMPLs) at algebraic points, where $v$ is a finite place of the rational function field over a finite field. This principle establishes the fact that the $v$-adic vanishing of CMPLs at algebraic points is equivalent to its $\infty$-adic counterpart being Eulerian. This reveals a nontrivial connection between the $v$-adic and $\infty$-adic worlds in positive characteristic.
