In this paper, we construct families of irreducible representations for a class of quantum groups $U_{q}(f_{m}(K))$. First, we give a natural construction of irreducible weight representations for $U_{q}(f_{m}(K))$ using methods in spectral theory developed by Rosenberg. Second, we study the Whittaker model for the center of $U_{q}(f_{m}(K))$. As a result, the structure of Whittaker representations is determined, and all irreducible Whittaker representations are explicitly constructed. Finally, we prove that the annihilator of a Whittaker representation is centrally generated.
For any prime p, we construct, and simultaneously count, all of the complex Specht modules in a given p-block of the symmetric group which remain irreducible when reduced modulo p. We call the Specht modules with this property p-irreducible modules. Recently Fayers has proven a conjecture of James and Mathas that provides a characterization of the partitions that correspond to the p-irreducible modules. In this paper we present a method for decomposing the partitions corresponding to p-irreducible modules, and we use this decomposition to construct and count all of the partitions corresponding…
In the representation theory of simple Lie algebras, we consider the problem of constructing a "canonical" weight basis in an arbitrary irreducible finite-dimensional highest weight module. Vinberg suggested a method for constructing such bases by applying the lowering operators corresponding to all positive roots to the highest weight vector. He proposed several conjectures on the parametrization and structure of such bases. It is already known that these conjectures are true for the cases $A_n$, $C_n$, $G_2$, $B_3$. In this paper, we prove these conjectures for the Lie algebra of type $D_4$.
We study the irreducible complex representations of general linear groups over principal ideal local rings of length two with a fixed finite residue field. We construct a canonical correspondence between the irreducible representations of all such groups which preserves dimensions. For general linear groups of order three and four over these rings, we construct all the irreducible representations. We show that the the problem of constructing all the irreducible representations of all general linear groups over these rings is not easier than the problem of constructing all the irreducible repre…
We investigate the representations and the structure of Hecke algebras associated to certain finite complex reflection groups. We first describe computational methods for the construction of irreducible representations of these algebras, including a generalization of the concept of $W$-graph to the situation of complex reflection groups. We then use these techniques to find models for all irreducible representations in the case of complex reflection groups of dimension at most three. Using these models we are able to verify some important conjectures on the structure of Hecke algebras.
By combining well-known techniques from both noncommutative algebra and computational commutative algebra, we observe that an algorithmic approach can be applied to the study of irreducible representations of finitely presented algebras. In slightly more detail: Assume that $n$ is a positive integer, that $k$ is a computable field, that $\bar{k}$ denotes the algebraic closure of $k$, and that $M_n(\bar{k})$ denotes the algebra of $n \times n$ matrices with entries in $\bar{k}$. Let $R$ be a finitely presented $k$-algebra. Calculating over $k$, the procedure will (a) decide whether an irreducib…
For semisimple Lie superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, whose category of finite dimensional super representations is semisismple, we classify all irreducible super representations for which the alternating or symmetric square representation is irreducible or decomposes into an irreducible representation and a trivial representation.
We perform the computations necessary to establish a multiplicity one statement for the irreducible representations of a finite spin group which in turn yields the classification of irreducible representations of finite spin groups. (The multiplicity one statement was previously stated without proof.)
We address the problem of finding necessary and sufficient conditions for an arbitrary group, not necessarily finite, to admit a faithful irreducible representation over an arbitrary field.
We compute the characters of real irreducible representations of SL(2,q), the special linear group on q letters, for an odd prime $q$. Moreover, we give the dimensions of these irreducible representations under the actions of cyclic subgroups of SL(2,q).
In this paper we consider symmetric powers representation and exterior powers representation of finite groups, which generated by the representation which has finite dimension over the complex field. We calculate the multiplicity of irreducible component of two representations of some representation by using a character theory of representation and a pre-lambda-ring, for example, the regular representation.
In this paper we classify irreducible integrable representations of loop toroidal Lie algebras with finite dimensional weight spaces. In both the cases we classify modules, when a part of center acts non-trivially and trivially on modules.
The description of irreducible finite dimensional representations of finite dimensional solvable Lie superalgebras over complex numbers given by V.~Kac is refined. In reality these representations are not just induced from a polarization but twisted, as infinite dimensional representations of solvable Lie algebras. Various cases of irreducibility (general and of type Q) are classified.
The article is devoted to some ``strange'' phenomena of representation theory and their interrelations. Cross-projective representations of pairs of anticommutative algebras, alloys, their universal envelopping Lie algebras and their representations, quaternary algebras and their alloyability are discussed. Considered examples allow to conclude that new representations have some intriguing features (continuous moduli of finite-dimensional irreducible representations, sophisticated Clebsch-Gordan coefficient calculus, etc.).
In this note, we address a question raised by Krötz on the classification of domains of holomorphy of irreducible admissible Banach representations for connected non-compact simple real Lie groups G. When G is not of Hermitian type, we give a complete description of the domains of holomorphy for irreducible admissible uniformly bounded representations on uniformly convex uniformly smooth Banach spaces and, in particular, for all irreducible uniformly bounded Hilbert representations. When the group G is Hermitian, we determine the domains of holomorphy only when the representations considered a…
We study a coarse moduli space of irreducible representations of the group of unipotent matrices of order $\mathbb{4}$ over the ring of integers which have finite weight. All such representations are known to be monomial. To describe a coarse moduli space of such representations, we need to study pairs of subgroups and their characters, which induce non-isomorphic irreducible representations. We obtain a full classification of such pairs and, respectively, a coarse moduli space.
We consider integrable category $\mathcal{O}$ representations of Borcherds--Kac--Moody algebras whose Cartan matrix is finite dimensional, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for which the tensor product of irreducible representations from this category is isomorphic to another. This result generalizes a fundamental result of C. S. Rajan on unique factorization of tensor products of finite dimensional irreducible representations of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras over complex numbers.
The irreducible integrable representations with finite-dimensional weight spaces of toroidal Lie algebras on which the center acts non-trivially were classified by S.Eswara Rao. In this paper we give a compact proof of the results that lead to the classification theorem. Further we establish a necessary and sufficient condition under which two such irreducible modules are isomorphic.
In this paper we study the possibility to define irreducible representations of the symmetric groups with the help of finitely many relations. The existence of finite bases is established for the classes of representations corresponding to two-part partitions and to partitions from the fundamental alcove.
Let G be an almost simple, simply connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0. In this paper we restate our conjecture from 1979 on the characters of irreducible modular representations of G so that it is now directly applicable to any dominant highest weight.
We study irreducible modules for Toroidal Lie-algebras with finite dimensional weight spaces. First note that Toroidal Lie-algebras have infinite dimensional center. In genaral the infinite dimensional center does not act as scalars on an irreducible module but acts as invertible central operators. We prove in this paper the study of irreducible modules for Toroidal Lie-algebras with finite dimensional weight spaces is reduced to the study of irreducible modules where the center acts as scalars.
We continue the study of positive energy (lowest weight) unitary irreducible representations of the superalgebras osp(1|2n,R). We present the full list of these UIRs. We give the Proof of the case osp(1|8,R).
Starting from a Hecke $R-$matrix, Jing and Zhang constructed a new deformation $U_{q}(sl_{2})$ of $U(sl_{2})$, and studied its finite dimensional representations in \cite{JZ}. Especically, this algebra is proved to be just a bialgebra, and all finite dimensional irreducible representations are constructed in \cite{JZ}. In addition, an example is given to show that not every finite dimensional representation of this algebra is completely reducible. In this note, we take a step further by constructing more irreducible representations for this algebra. We first construct points of the spectrum of…
In this paper we show that the irreducible representations of a finite inverse semigroup $S$ over an algebraically closed field $F$ are in bijection with the conjugacy classes of $S$ if the characteristic of $F$ is zero or a prime number that does not divide the order of any maximal subgroup of $S$.
Let p be an odd prime, and A_n the alternating group of degree n. We determine which ordinary irreducible representations of A_n remain irreducible in characteristic p, verifying the author's conjecture from [Represent. Theory 14, 601-626]. Given the preparatory work done in [op. cit.], our task is to determine which self-conjugate partitions label Specht modules for the symmetric group in characteristic p having exactly two composition factors. This is accomplished through the use of the Robinson-Brundan-Kleshchev 'i-restriction' functors, together with known results on decomposition numbers …
In this paper, we obtained character formulas of irreducible unitary representations of $U(n, n+1)$ by using Howe's correspondence and the Cauchy--Harish-Chandra integral. The representations of $U(n, n+1)$ we are dealing with are obtained from a double lifting of a representation of $U(1)$ via the dual pairs $(U(1), U(1, 1))$ and $(U(1, 1), U(n, n+1))$.
We construct a family of irreducible representations of the quantum plane and of the quantum Weyl algebra over an arbitrary field, assuming the deformation parameter is not a root of unity. We determine when two representations in this family are isomorphic, and when they are weight representations, in the sense of Bavula.
In the present paper we classify all irreducible continuous representations of the simple linearly compact n-Lie superalgebra of type W. The classification is based on a bijective correspondence between the continuous representations of the n-Lie algebras W^n and continuous representations of the Lie algebra of Cartan type W_{n-1}, on which some two-sided ideal acts trivially.
Let $F$ be a local non-archimedian field of positive characteristic, $D$ be a skew-field with center $F$ and $ G=D^{\star}$ be the multiplicative group of $D$. The goal of this paper is to provide a canonical decomposition of any complex irreducible representation $V$ of $G$ in a direct sum of one-dimensional subspaces.
Let $G$ be a finite solvable group. Then $G$ always has a useful presentation, which we call a "long presentation". Using a "long presentation" of $G$, we present an inductive method of constructing the irreducible representations of $G$ over $\mathbb{C}$ and computing the primitive central idempotents of the complex group algebra $\mathbb{C}[G]$. For a finite abelian group, we present a systematic method of constructing the irreducible representations over a field of characteristic either $0$ or prime to order of the group and also a systematic method of computing the primitive central idempo…
We give the decomposition into irreducible factors of Weil representations of the symplectic groups at even levels, generalizing previous decompositions at odd levels. We then derive the decomposition of the quantum representations of SL2(Z) arising in the SU(2) and SO(3) TQFTs. As application we show that, when the level indexing the TQFT is not a multiple of 4, the universal construction applied to a cobordism category without framed links leads to the same TQFT.
Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group in defining characteristic $p>0$, and let $V$ be an irreducible $G$-module which is the tensor product of exactly two non-trivial modules. We obtain a criterion for $V$ to have the zero weight. In addition, we provide a uniform criterion for an irreducible representation of a simple Lie algebra over the complex numbers to have a multiple of a prescribed fundamental weight.
For any n>3, we give a family of finite dimensional irreducible representations of the braid group B_n. Moreover, we give a subfamily parametrized by 0<m<n of dimension the combinatoric number (n,m). The representation obtained in the case m=1 is equivalent to the Standard representation.
In this paper we completely characterise irreducible tensor products of representations of alternating groups in characteristic 2 of a basic spin module with an irreducible module. This completes the classification of irreducible tensor products of representations of alternating groups.
In the present paper we classify all irreducible continuous representations of the simple linearly compact n-Lie superalgebra of type S. The classification is based on a bijective correspondence between the continuous representations of the n-Lie algebras S^n and continuous representations of the Lie algebra of Cartan type S, on which some two-sided ideal acts trivially.
We prove a determinantal type formula to compute the characters for a class of irreducible representations of the general Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$ in terms of the characters of the symmetric powers of the fundamental representation and their duals. This formula was conjectured by J. van der Jeugt and E. Moens and was generalized the well-known Jacobi-Trudi formula.
We investigate the representations of the exotic conformal Galilei algebra. This is done by explicitly constructing all singular vectors within the Verma modules, and then deducing irreducibility of the associated highest weight quotient modules. A resulting classification of infinite dimensional irreducible modules is presented.
For any finite group G it is an interesting question to ask which ordinary irreducible representations of G remain irreducible in a given characteristic p. We answer this question for p=2 when G is the proper double cover of the alternating group. As a key ingredient in the proof, we prove a formula for the decomposition numbers in Rouquier blocks of double covers of symmetric groups, in terms of Schur P-functions.
Let $q$ be a power of a prime $p$, let $G$ be a finite Chevalley group over $\mathbb{F}_q$ and let $U$ be a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G$; we assume that $p$ is not a very bad prime for $G$. We explain a procedure of reduction of irreducible complex characters of $U$, which leads to an algorithm whose goal is to obtain a parametrization of the irreducible characters of $U$ along with a means to construct these characters as induced characters. A focus in this paper is determining the parametrization when $G$ is of type $\mathrm{F}_4$, where we observe that the parametrization is "uniform" over goo…
Let $p>2$ be a prime. We give examples of smooth absolutely irreducible representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{Q}_{p^3})$ over $\mathbb{F}_{p^3}$ which are not admissible.
In this paper we show that any irreducible finite dimensional representation of $SL_{n+1}$ remains indecomposable if restricted to n--dimensional abelian subalgebras spanned by simple root vectors.
We calculate the representation growth zeta function of the discrete Heisenberg group over the integers of a quadratic number field. This is done by forming equivalence classes of representations, called twist iso-classes, and explicitly constructing a representative from each twist iso-class. Our method of construction involves studying the eigenspace structure of the elements of the image of the representation and then picking a suitable basis for the representation.
Let $U_n(q)$ be the upper triangular group of degree $n$ over the finite field $\F_q$ with $q$ elements. In this paper, we present constructions of large degree ordinary irreducible representations of $U_n(q)$ where $n\geq 7$, and then determine the number of irreducible representations of largest, second largest and third largest degrees.
In the paper we show that any irreducible representation of a finitely generated nilpotent group $G$ over a finitely generated field $F$ of characteristic zero is induced from a primitive representation of some subgroup of $G$.
