We prove a determinantal type formula to compute the characters for a class of irreducible representations of the general Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$ in terms of the characters of the symmetric powers of the fundamental representation and their duals. This formula was conjectured by J. van der Jeugt and E. Moens and was generalized the well-known Jacobi-Trudi formula.
We prove a determinantal type formula to compute the irreducible characters of the general Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|1)$ in terms of the characters of the symmetric powers of the fundamental representation and their duals. This formula was conjectured by J. van der Jeugt and E. Moens for the Lie superalgebra $\frak{gl}(m|n)$ and generalizes the well-known Jacobi-Trudi formula.
In their study of characters of minimal affinizations of representations of orthogonal and symplectic Lie algebras, Chari and Greenstein conjectured that certain Jacobi-Trudi determinants satisfy an alternating sum formula. In this note, we prove their conjecture and slightly more. The proof relies on some symmetries of the ring of symmetric functions discovered by Koike and Terada. Using results of Hernandez, Mukhin-Young, and Naoi, this implies that the characters of minimal affinizations in types B, C, and D are given by a Jacobi-Trudi determinant.
We give an interpretation of the boson-fermion correspondence as a direct consequence of Jacobi-Trudi identity. This viewpoint enables us to construct from a generalized version of the Jacobi-Trudi identity the action of Clifford algebra on polynomial algebras that arrives as analogues of the algebra of symmetric functions. A generalized Giambelli identity is also proved to follow from that identity. As applications, we obtain explicit formulas for vertex operators corresponding to characters of the classical Lie algebras, shifted Schur functions, and generalized Schur symmetric functions asso…
Starting from Jacobi-Trudi's type determinental expressions for the Schur functions corresponding to types $B,C$ and $D,$ we define a natural $q$-analogue of the multiplicity $[V(λ):M(μ)]$ when $M(μ)$ is a tensor product of row or column shaped modules defined by $μ$. We prove that these $q$-multiplicities are equal to certain Kostka-Foulkes polynomials related to the root systems $C$ or $D$. Finally we derive formulas expressing the associated multiplicities in terms of Kostka numbers.
We examine in detail the Jacobi-Trudi characters over the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras spo(2|2m+1) and spo(2n|3). We furthermore relate them to Serganova's notion of Euler characters.
The Jacobi-Trudi formula implies some interesting quadratic identities for characters of representations of $gl_n$. Earlier work of Kirillov and Reshetikhin proposed a generalization of these identities to the other classical Lie algebras, and conjectured that the characters of certain finite-dimensional representations of $U_q(g-affine)$ satisfy it. Here we use a positivity argument to show that the generalized identities have only one solution.
We prove that the specialization to q=1 of a Kirillov-Reshetikhin module for an untwisted quantum affine algebra of classical type is projective in a suitable category. This yields a uniform character formula for the Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. We conjecture that these results holds for specializations of minimal affinization with some restriction on the corresponding highest weight. We discuss the connection with the conjecture of Nakai and Nakanishi on q-characters of minimal affinizations. We establish this conjecture in some special cases. This also leads us to conjecture an alternating …
We introduce a factorized difference operator L(u) annihilated by the Frenkel-Reshetikhin screening operator for the quantum affine algebra U_q(C^{(1)}_n). We identify the coefficients of L(u) with the fundamental q-characters, and establish a number of formulas for their higher analogues. They include Jacobi-Trudi and Weyl type formulas, canceling tableau sums, Casorati determinant solution to the T-system, and so forth. Analogous operators for the orthogonal series U_q(B^{(1)}_n) and U_q(D^{(1)}_n) are also presented.
We give a new Jacobi--Trudi-type formula for characters of finite-dimensional irreducible representations in type $C_n$ using characters of the fundamental representations and non-intersecting lattice paths. We give equivalent determinant formulas for the decomposition multiplicities for tensor powers of the spin representation in type $B_n$ and the exterior representation in type $C_n$. This gives a combinatorial proof of an identity of Katz and equates such a multiplicity with the dimension of an irreducible representation in type $C_n$. By taking certain specializations, we obtain identitie…
This paper provides a unified approach to results on representations of affine Hecke algebras, cyclotomic Hecke algebras, affine BMW algebras, cyclotomic BMW algebras, Markov traces, Jacobi-Trudi type identities, dual pairs (Zelevinsky), and link invariants (Turaev). The key observation in the genesis of this paper was that the technical tools used to obtain the results in Orellana and Suzuki, two a priori unrelated papers, are really the same. Here we develop this method and explain how to apply it to obtain results similar to those in Orellana and Suzuki in more general settings. Some specif…
