We conjecture that the structure of Bernoulli numbers can be explicitly given in the closed form $$ B_n = (-1)^{\frac{n}{2}-1} \prod_{p-1 \nmid n} |n|_p^{-1} \prod\limits_{(p,l)\inΨ^{\rm irr}_1 \atop n \equiv l \mods{p-1}} |p (χ_{(p,l)} - {\textstyle \frac{n-l}{p-1}})|_p^{-1} \prod\limits_{p-1 \mid n} p^{-1} $$ where the $χ_{(p,l)}$ are zeros of certain $p$-adic zeta functions and $Ψ^{\rm irr}_1$ is the set of irregular pairs. The more complicated but improbable case where the conjecture does not hold is also handled; we obtain an unconditional structural formula for Bernoulli numbers. Finally, applications are given which are related to classical results.
Poly-Bernoulli numbers $B_n^{(k)}\in\mathbb{Q}$\,($n \geq 0$,\,$k \in \mathbb{Z}$) are defined by Kaneko in 1997. Multi-Poly-Bernoulli numbers\,$B_n^{(k_1,k_2,\ldots, k_r)}$, defined by using multiple polylogarithms, are generations of Kaneko's Poly-Bernoulli numbers\,$B_n^{(k)}$. We researched relations between Multi-Poly-Bernoulli numbers and Poly-Bernoulli numbers of negative index in particular. In section 2, we introduce a identity for Multi-Poly-Bernoulli numbers of negative index which was proved by Kamano. In section 3, as main results, we introduce some relations between Multi-Poly-Be…

In this paper, we define the truncated Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the truncated Cauchy-Carlitz numbers as analogues of hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers and hypergeometric Cauchy numbers, and as extensions of Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the Cauchy-Carlitz numbers. These numbers can be expressed explicitly in terms of incomplete Stirling-Carlitz numbers.
We provide direct elementary proofs of several explicit expressions for Bernoulli numbers and Bernoulli polynomials. As a byproduct of our method of proof, we provide natural definitions for generalized Bernoulli numbers and polynomials of complex order.
We realize that geometric polynomials and p-Bernoulli polynomials and numbers are closely related with an integral representation. Therefore, using geometric polynomials, we extend some properties of Bernoulli polynomials and numbers such as recurrence relations, telescopic formula and Raabe's formula to p-Bernoulli polynomials and numbers. In particular cases of these results, we establish some new results for Bernoulli polynomials and numbers. Moreover, we evaluate a Faulhaber-type summation in terms of p-Bernoulli polynomials.
Hurwitz numbers are the Laurent coefficients of an elliptic function $\wp(u)$ of cyclotomic type, and they are natural generalization of the Bernoulli numbers. This paper gives new generalization of Bernoulli and Hurwitz numbers for higher genus cases. They satisfy completely von Staudt-Clausen type theorem, an extension of von Staudt second theorem, and Kummer type congruence relation. The present paper is revised and combined version of math.NT/0304377 and math.NT/0312178 containing many numerical examples.
Bernoulli numbers are usually expressed in terms of their lower index numbers (recursive). This paper gives an explicit formula for Bernoulli numbers of even index. The formula contains a remarkable sequence of determinants.
We introduce multi-poly-Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers, function field analogues of multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers of Imatomi-Kaneko-Takeda. We explicitly describe multi-poly-Bernoulli Carlitz numbers in terms of the Carlitz factorial and the Stirling-Carlitz numbers of the second kind and also show their relationships with function field analogues of finite multiple zeta values.
In this paper, we give the determinant expressions of the hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers, and some relations between the hypergeometric and the classical Bernoulli numbers which include Kummer's congruences. By applying Trudi's formula, we have some different expressions and inversion relations. We also determine explicit forms of convergents of the generating function of the hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers, from which several identities for hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers are given.
In this paper we consider the weighted q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials which are differnt type of Carlitz's q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. From these numbers and polynomials, we derive some interesting formulaes and identities.
The classical sequence of Bernoulli numbers is known to the the sequence of moments of a family of orthogonal polynomials. Some similar statements are obtained for another sequence of rational numbers, which is similar in many ways to the Bernoulli numbers.
The poly-Bernoulli numbers and its relative are defined by the generating series using the polylogarithm series, and we call them type $B$ and $C$, respectively. As a generalization of these poly-Bernoulli numbers, we introduce Schur type poly-Bernoulli numbers and investigate their properties. First, we define a generalization of Arakawa-Kaneko multiple zeta functions and obtain their expression in terms of Schur type Bernoulli numbers. Next, under the restriction to the hook type, we define a generalization of Kaneko-Tsumura multiple zeta functions and obtain similar expression in terms of S…
As properties of poly-Bernoulli numbers, a number of formulas such as the duality formula, explicit formula using the Stirling numbers of the second kind and periodicity for negative upper-index have been established. For the multi-indexed poly-Bernoulli numbers generalized by Kaneko-Tsumura, among such properties only the duality formula was obtained. In this paper, we restrict the double-indexed poly-Bernoulli numbers and show the explicit formula using the Stirling numbers of the second kind and periodicity for negative upper-index for them. Further, we define the variant of multiple-indexe…

We present a relationship between the generalized hyperharmonic numbers and the poly-Bernoulli polynomials, motivated from the connections between harmonic and Bernoulli numbers. This relationship yields numerous identities for the hyper-sums and several congruences.
We present a symbolic representation for the poly-Bernoulli numbers. This allows us to prove several new iterated integral representations for the poly-Bernoulli numbers, including an integral transform of the Bernoulli-Barnes numbers. We also deduce some new recurrences for the poly-Bernoulli numbers. Finally, we use these results to present a new iterated integral representation for the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function, including a nonlinear integral transform of the Barnes zeta function.
In this paper, we consider the degenerate multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials which are defined by means of the multiple polylogarithms and degenerate versions of the multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. We investigate some properties for those numbers and polynomials. In addition, we give some identities and relations for the degenerate multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials.
Recently, the Cauchy-Carlitz number was defined as the counterpart of the Bernoulli-Carlitz number. Both numbers can be expressed explicitly in terms of so-called Stirling-Carlitz numbers. In this paper, we study the second analogue of Stirling-Carlitz numbers and give some general formulae, including Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in formal power series with complex coefficients, and Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers in function fields. We also give some applications of Hasse-Teichmüller derivative to hypergeometric Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in terms of associated Stirling numbers…

Bernoulli numbers are usually expressed in terms of their lower index numbers (recursive). This paper gives explicit formulas for Bernoulli numbers of even index. The formulas contain a remarkable sequence of determinants. The value of these determinants for variable dimension is investigated.
We study the asymptotic density of the set of subscripts of the Bernoulli numbers having a given denominator. We also study the distribution of distinct Bernoulli denominators and some related problems.
We introduce the degenerate Bernoulli numbers of the second kind as a degenerate version of the Bernoulli numbers of the second kind. We derive a family of nonlinear differential equations satisfied by a function closely related to the generating function for those numbers. We obtain explicit expressions for the coefficients appearing in those differential equations and the degenerate Bernoulli numbers of the second kind. In addition, as an application and from those differential equations we have an identity expressing the degenerate Bernoulli numbers of the second kind in terms of those numb…

Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers were introduced by L. Carlitz in 1935, they are the analogues in positive characteristic of Bernoulli numbers. We prove a conjecture formulated by F. Pellarin and the first author on the non-vanishing modulo a given prime of families of Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers. We then show that the "exceptional zeros" of certain $L$-series are intimately connected to the Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers.
Studying degenerate versions of various special polynomials have become an active area of research and yielded many interesting arithmetic and combinatorial results. Here we introduce a degenerate version of polylogarithm function, called the degenerate polylogarithm function. Then we construct new type degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and numbers, called degenerate poly-Bernoulli polynomials and numbers,by using the degenerate polylogarithm function and derive several properties on the degenerate poly-Bernoulli numbers
In this note, we give an alternative proof of the generating function of $p$-Bernoulli numbers. Our argument is based on the Euler's integral representation.
The aim of this paper is to study the fully degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and numbers, which are a degenerate version of Bernoulli polynomials and numbers and arise naturally from the Volkenborn integral of the degenerate exponential functions on Zp. We find some explicit expressions for the fully degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and numbers in terms of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the degenerate Stirling polynomials. We also consider the degenerate poly-Bernoulli polynomials and derive explicit representatio…

An overlooked formula of E. Lucas for the generalized Bernoulli numbers is proved using generating functions. This is then used to provide a new proof and a new form of a sum involving classical Bernoulli numbers studied by K. Dilcher. The value of this sum is then given in terms of the Meixner-Pollaczek polynomials.
In this paper, we consider degenerate poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials associated with polylogarithmic function and p-adic invariant integral on Zp. By using umbral calculus, we derive some identities of those numbers and polynomials
Let $[x]$ be the integral part of $x$, $n>1$ be a positive integer and $χ_n$ denote the trivial Dirichlet character modulo $n$. In this paper, we use an identity established by Z. H. Sun to get congruences of $T_{m,k}(n)=\sum_{x=1}^{[n/m]}\frac{χ_n(x)}{x^k}\left(\bmod n^{r+1}\right)$ for $r\in \{1,2\}$, any positive integer $m $ with $n \equiv \pm 1 \left(\bmod m \right)$ in terms of Bernoulli polynomials. As its an application, we also obtain some new congruences involving binomial coefficients modulo $n^4$ in terms of generalized Bernoulli numbers.
In this paper, by the properties of p-adic invariant integral on Zp, we establish various identities concerning the generalized Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. From the symmetric properties of p-adic invariant integral on Zp, we give some interesting relationship between the power sums and the generalized Bernoulli polynomials.
Recently, $λ$-Bernoulli and $λ$-Euler numbers are studied in [5, 10]. The purpose of this paper is to present a systematic study of some families of the $q$-extensions of the $λ$-Bernoulli and the $λ$-Euler numbers by using the bosonic $p$-adic $q$-integral and the fermionic $p$-adic $q$-integral. The investigation of these $λ$-$q$-Bernoulli and $λ$-$q$-Euler numbers leads to interesting identities related to these objects. The results of the present paper cover earlier results concerning $q$-Bernoulli and $q$-Euler numbers. By using derivative operator to the generating functions of $λ$-$q$-B…
We introduce generalized hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers for Dirichlet characters. We study their properties, including relations, expressions and determinants. At the end in Appendix we derive first few expressions of these numbers.
For finite sums of non-negative powers of arithmetic progressions the generating functions (ordinary and exponential ones) for given powers are computed. This leads to a two parameter generalization of Stirling and Eulerian numbers. A direct generalization of Bernoulli numbers and their polynomials follows. On the way to find the Faulhaber formula for these sums of powers in terms of generalized Bernoulli polynomials one is led to a one parameter generalization of Bernoulli numbers and their polynomials. Generalized Lah numbers are also considered.
Recently, Kim-Jang-Yi have introduced q-Bernstein polynomials. From these q-Berstein polynomials, we investigte some properties related to q-Stirling numbes and q-Bernoulli numbes.
We connect and generalize Matiyasevich's identity #0102 with Bernoulli numbers and an identity of Candelpergher, Coppo and Delabaere on Ramanujan summation of the divergent series of the infinite sum of the harmonic numbers. The formulae are analytic continuation of Euler sums and lead to new recursion relations for derivatives of Bernoulli numbers. The techniques used are contour integration, generating functions and divergent series.
By using the associated and restricted Stirling numbers of the second kind, we give some generalizations of the poly-Bernoulli numbers. We also study their arithmetical and combinatorial properties. As an application, at the end of the paper we present a new infinite series representation of the Riemann zeta function via the Lambert $W$.
The Concepts of poly-Bernoulli numbers $B_n^{(k)}$, poly-Bernoulli polynomials $B_n^{k}{(t)}$ and the generalized poly-bernoulli numbers $B_{n}^{(k)}(a,b)$ are generalized to $B_{n}^{(k)}(t,a,b,c)$ which is called the generalized poly-Bernoulli polynomials depending on real parameters \textit{a,b,c}. Some properties of these polynomials and some relationships between $B_n^{k}$, $B_n^{(k)}(t)$, $B_{n}^{(k)}(a,b)$ and $B_{n}^{(k)}(t,a,b,c)$ are established
In this paper we announce some results obtained for certain algebraic functions, which we call of cyclotomic type. The main results properly resemble von Staudt-Clausen's theorem and Kummer's congruence for the Bernoulli numbers, and such theorems for the Hurwitz numbers.
A number of identities are proved by using Stirling transforms. These identities involve Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, hyperharmonic and derangement numbers, Bernoulli and Euler numbers and polynomials, powers, power sums, and factorials.
Recently, Kim proposed interesting q-extension of Bernstein polynomials and positive linear operators on C[0,1] which are different Phillips' q-Bernstein polynomials. From Kim's q-Bernstein polynomials, we investigate some interesting properties of q-Bernstein polynomials associated with q-stirling numbers and Carlitz's q-Bernoulli numbers
The purpose of this paper is to derive some identities of the higher order generalized twisted Bernoulli numbers and polynomials attached to $χ$ from the properties of the p-adic invariant integrals.
This paper presents a new generalization of the Genocchi numbers and the Genocchi theorem. As consequences, we obtain some important families of integer-valued polynomials those are closely related to the Bernoulli polynomials. Denoting by ${(B_n)}_{n \in \mathbb{N}}$ the sequence of the Bernoulli numbers and by ${(B_n(X))}_{n \in \mathbb{N}}$ the sequence of the Bernoulli polynomials, we especially obtain that for any natural number $n$, the reciprocal polynomial of the polynomial $\big(B_n(X) - B_n\big)$ is integer-valued.
In this paper we give some interesting equation of p-adic q-integrals on Zp. From those p-adic q-integrals, we present a systemic study of some families of extended Carlitz q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials in p-adic number field.
