We introduce generalized hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers for Dirichlet characters. We study their properties, including relations, expressions and determinants. At the end in Appendix we derive first few expressions of these numbers.
In this paper, we give the determinant expressions of the hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers, and some relations between the hypergeometric and the classical Bernoulli numbers which include Kummer's congruences. By applying Trudi's formula, we have some different expressions and inversion relations. We also determine explicit forms of convergents of the generating function of the hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers, from which several identities for hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers are given.
New convolution identities of hypergeometric Bernoulli polynomials are presented. Two different approaches to proving these identities are discussed, corresponding to the two equivalent definitions of hypergeometric Bernoulli polynomials as Appell sequences.
In this note, we shall provide several properties of hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, including sums of products identity, differential equations and recurrence formulas.
In a previous paper, Rahmani introduced a new family of p-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials by means of the Gauss hypergeometric function. Motivated by this paper and as a degenerate version of those numbers and polynomials, we introduce the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials again by using the Gauss hypergeometric function. In addition, we introduce the degenerate type Eulerian numbers as a degenerate version of Eulerian numbers. For the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers, we express them in terms of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, of the degene…
In this paper, we define the truncated Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the truncated Cauchy-Carlitz numbers as analogues of hypergeometric Bernoulli numbers and hypergeometric Cauchy numbers, and as extensions of Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the Cauchy-Carlitz numbers. These numbers can be expressed explicitly in terms of incomplete Stirling-Carlitz numbers.
In this paper, we introduce the hypergeometric Euler number as an analogue of the hypergeometric Bernoulli number and the hypergeometric Cauchy number. We study several expressions and sums of products of hypergeometric Euler numbers. We also introduce complementary hypergeometric Euler numbers and give some characteristic properties. There are strong reasons why these hypergeometric numbers are important. The hypergeometric numbers have one of the advantages that yield the natural extensions of determinant expressions of the numbers, though many kinds of generalizations of the Euler numbers h…
Recently, the Cauchy-Carlitz number was defined as the counterpart of the Bernoulli-Carlitz number. Both numbers can be expressed explicitly in terms of so-called Stirling-Carlitz numbers. In this paper, we study the second analogue of Stirling-Carlitz numbers and give some general formulae, including Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in formal power series with complex coefficients, and Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers in function fields. We also give some applications of Hasse-Teichmüller derivative to hypergeometric Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in terms of associated Stirling numbers…
In this paper, we establish an identity for Bernoulli's generalized polynomials. We deduce generalizations for many relations involving classical Bernoulli numbers or polynomials. In particular, we generalize a recent Gessel identity.
In this paper we consider the generalized q-Bernoulli measures with weight alpha. From those measures, we derive some interesting properties on the generalized q-Bernoulli numbers with weight alpha attached to chi.
We present a relationship between the generalized hyperharmonic numbers and the poly-Bernoulli polynomials, motivated from the connections between harmonic and Bernoulli numbers. This relationship yields numerous identities for the hyper-sums and several congruences.
In this paper, by the properties of p-adic invariant integral on Zp, we establish various identities concerning the generalized Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. From the symmetric properties of p-adic invariant integral on Zp, we give some interesting relationship between the power sums and the generalized Bernoulli polynomials.
We construct the q-extension of the Hurwitz's type L-function which interpolates the q-extension of generalized Bernoulli polynomials attached to $chi$.
In this paper, we introduce degenertae generalized hypergeometric functions and study degenerate hypergeometric numbers of order p. These numbers involving of lambda-binomial coefficients and lambda-falling sequence, and can be represented by means of the degenerate generalized hypergeometric functions. we will derive some explicit expressions and combinatorial identities for those numbers. We also consider several related special numbers like lambda-hypergeometric numbers of order p and Apostol type lambda-hypergeometric numbers of order p, of which the latter reduce in a limiting case to the…
Inspired by a result of Manin, we study the relationship between certain period integrals and the trace of Frobenius of genus 3 generalized Legendre curves. We show that both of these properties can be computed in terms of "matching" classical and finite field hypergeometric functions, a phenomenon that has also been observed in elliptic curves and many higher dimensional varieties.
We compute the Artin $L$-function of a diagonal hypersurface D_λ over a finite field associated to a character of a finite group acting on D_λ , and under some condition, express it in terms of hypergeometric functions and Jacobi sums over the finite field. As an application, we consider the Dwork hypersurfaces and obtain relations among certain hypergeometric functions over different finite fields.
An overlooked formula of E. Lucas for the generalized Bernoulli numbers is proved using generating functions. This is then used to provide a new proof and a new form of a sum involving classical Bernoulli numbers studied by K. Dilcher. The value of this sum is then given in terms of the Meixner-Pollaczek polynomials.
The purpose of this paper is to derive some identities of the higher order generalized twisted Bernoulli numbers and polynomials attached to $χ$ from the properties of the p-adic invariant integrals.
In this paper, we derive eight basic identities of symmetry in three variables related to generalized Bernoulli polynomials and generalized power sums. All of these are new, since there have been results only about identities of symmetry in two variables. The derivations of identities are based on the $p$-adic integral expression of the generating function for the generalized Bernoulli polynomials and the quotient of $p$-adic integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the generalized power sums.
Let $[x]$ be the integral part of $x$, $n>1$ be a positive integer and $χ_n$ denote the trivial Dirichlet character modulo $n$. In this paper, we use an identity established by Z. H. Sun to get congruences of $T_{m,k}(n)=\sum_{x=1}^{[n/m]}\frac{χ_n(x)}{x^k}\left(\bmod n^{r+1}\right)$ for $r\in \{1,2\}$, any positive integer $m $ with $n \equiv \pm 1 \left(\bmod m \right)$ in terms of Bernoulli polynomials. As its an application, we also obtain some new congruences involving binomial coefficients modulo $n^4$ in terms of generalized Bernoulli numbers.
In this paper, we establish more identities of generalized multi poly-Euler polynomials with three parameters and obtain a kind of symmetrized generalization of the polynomials. Moreover, generalized multi poly-Bernoulli polynomials are defined using multiple polylogarithm and derive some properties parallel to those of poly-Bernoulli polynomials. These are generalized further using the concept of Hurwitz-Lerch multiple zeta values.
For finite sums of non-negative powers of arithmetic progressions the generating functions (ordinary and exponential ones) for given powers are computed. This leads to a two parameter generalization of Stirling and Eulerian numbers. A direct generalization of Bernoulli numbers and their polynomials follows. On the way to find the Faulhaber formula for these sums of powers in terms of generalized Bernoulli polynomials one is led to a one parameter generalization of Bernoulli numbers and their polynomials. Generalized Lah numbers are also considered.
Hurwitz numbers are the Laurent coefficients of an elliptic function $\wp(u)$ of cyclotomic type, and they are natural generalization of the Bernoulli numbers. This paper gives new generalization of Bernoulli and Hurwitz numbers for higher genus cases. They satisfy completely von Staudt-Clausen type theorem, an extension of von Staudt second theorem, and Kummer type congruence relation. The present paper is revised and combined version of math.NT/0304377 and math.NT/0312178 containing many numerical examples.
We derive eight identities of symmetry in three variables related to generalized twisted Bernoulli polynomials and generalized twisted power sums, both of which are twisted by ramified roots of unity. All of these are new, since there have been results only about identities of symmetry in two variables. The derivations of identities are based on the $p$-adic integral expression of the generating function for the generalized twisted Bernoulli polynomials and the quotient of $p$-adic integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the generalized twisted power sums.
In this paper we announce some results obtained for certain algebraic functions, which we call of cyclotomic type. The main results properly resemble von Staudt-Clausen's theorem and Kummer's congruence for the Bernoulli numbers, and such theorems for the Hurwitz numbers.
We derive three identities of symmetry in two variables and eight in three variables related to generalized twisted Bernoulli polynomials and generalized twisted power sums, both of which are twisted by unramified roots of unity. The case of ramified roots of unity was treated previously. The derivations of identities are based on the $p$-adic integral expression, with respect to a measure introduced by Koblitz, of the generating function for the generalized twisted Bernoulli polynomials and the quotient of $p$-adic integrals that can be expressed as the exponential generating function for the…
In this paper we give some interesting equation of p-adic q-integrals on Zp. From those p-adic q-integrals, we present a systemic study of some families of extended Carlitz q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials in p-adic number field.
In this note, by using the Hasse-Teichmüller derivatives, we obtain two explicit expressions for the related numbers of higher order Appell polynomials. One of them presents a determinant expression for the related numbers of higher order Appell polynomials, which involves several determinant expressions of special numbers, such as the higher order generalized hypergeometric Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers, thus recovers the classical determinant expressions of Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers stated in an article by Glaisher in 1875.
The Concepts of poly-Bernoulli numbers $B_n^{(k)}$, poly-Bernoulli polynomials $B_n^{k}{(t)}$ and the generalized poly-bernoulli numbers $B_{n}^{(k)}(a,b)$ are generalized to $B_{n}^{(k)}(t,a,b,c)$ which is called the generalized poly-Bernoulli polynomials depending on real parameters \textit{a,b,c}. Some properties of these polynomials and some relationships between $B_n^{k}$, $B_n^{(k)}(t)$, $B_{n}^{(k)}(a,b)$ and $B_{n}^{(k)}(t,a,b,c)$ are established
By studying Cameron's operator in terms of determinants, two kinds of "integer" sequences of incomplete numbers were introduced. One was the sequence of restricted numbers, including $s$-step Fibonacci sequences. Another was the sequence of associated numbers, including Lamé sequences of higher order. By the classical Trudi's formula and the inverse relation, more expressions were able to be obtained. These relations and identities can be extended to those of sequence of negative integers or rational numbers. As applications, we consider hypergeometric Bernoulli, Cauchy and Euler numbers with …
We provide direct elementary proofs of several explicit expressions for Bernoulli numbers and Bernoulli polynomials. As a byproduct of our method of proof, we provide natural definitions for generalized Bernoulli numbers and polynomials of complex order.
We study the $p$-adic (generalized) hypergeometric equations by using the theory of multiplicative convolution of arithmetic $\mathscr{D}$-modules. As a result, we prove that the hypergeometric isocrystals with suitable rational parameters have a structure of overconvergent $F$-isocrystals.
We calculate the Beilinson regulators of motives associated to Fermat curves and express them by special values of generalized hypergeometric functions. As a result, we obtain surjectivity results of the regulator, which support the Beilinson conjecture on special values of L-functions.
In this paper, we present a new type of generating function of generalized Apostol-Bernoulli poly Daehee polynomial (GABPDP). By using the generating function of GABPDP, we discuss some special cases and useful identities of generalized Apostol-Bernoulli poly Daehee polynomials. We also drive implicit summation formulae of it.
We prove the simultaneous multiplication formulas for Apostol-Bernoulli polynomials and generalized Frobenius-Euler polynomials. These formulas contain Dedekind-Rademacher sums, Apostol-Dedekind sums and Fourier-Dedekind sums.
Many product formulas are known classically for generalized hypergeometric functions over the complex numbers. In this paper, we establish some analogous formulas for generalized hypergeometric functions over finite fields.
We study matrices which transform the sequence of Fibonacci or Lucas polynomials with even index to those with odd index and vice versa. They turn out to be intimately related to generalized Stirling numbers and to Bernoulli, Genocchi and tangent numbers and give rise to various identities between these numbers. There is also a close connection with the Akiyama-Tanigawa algorithm.
We present a new explicit formula for the $m$-th Bernoulli number $B_m$, which involves two integer parameters $a$ and $n$ with $0\le a\le m\le n$. If we set $a=0$ and $n=m$, then the formula reduces to the celebrated Kronecker formula for $B_m$. We give two proofs of our formula. One is analytic and uses a certain function in two variables. The other is algebraic and is motivated by a topological consideration of self-intersections of curves on an oriented surface.
We study the incomplete Mellin transformation of the fractional part and the related log-sine function when composed by an affine complex map. We evaluate the corresponding integral in two different ways which yields equalities with series in hypergeometric functions on each side. These equalities capture basic analytic properties of the Hurwitz zeta function like meromorphic extension and the functional equation. We give rates of convergence for the involved series. As a special case we find that the exponential rate of convergence for the deformation of the log-sine to the fractional part in…
We define the generalized hypergeometric polynomial of degree N in terms of the generalized hypergeometric function that depends on p parameters a_1, ..., a_p and q parameters b_1, ..., b_q. The parameters are "generic", possibly complex, numbers. In this paper we obtain a set of N nonlinear algebraic equations satisfied by the N zeros z_n of this polynomial. We moreover manufacture an NxN matrix L in terms of the 1+p+q parameters N, a_j, b_k characterizing this polynomial, and of its N zeros z_n. We show that the matrix L features N eigenvalues that depend only on the q parameters b_k, implyi…
In this paper, we use two $q$-operators $\mathbb{T}(a,b,c,d,e,yD_x)$ and $\mathbb{E}(a,b,c,d,e,yθ_x)$ to derive two potentially useful generalizations of the $q$-binomial theorem, a set of two extensions of the $q$-Chu-Vandermonde summation formula and two new generalizations of the Andrews-Askey integral by means of the $q$-difference equations. We also briefly describe relevant connections of various special cases and consequences of our main results with a number of known results.
We give a method to embed the q-series in a (p,q)-series and derive the corresponding (p,q)-extensions of the known q-identities. The (p,q)-hypergeometric series, or twin-basic hypergeometric series (diferent from the usual bibasic hypergeometric series), is based on the concept of twin-basic number [n]_{p,q} = (p^n - q^n)/(p-q). This twin-basic number occurs in the theory of two-parameter quantum algebras and has been introduced independently in combinatorics. The (p,q)-identities thus derived, with doubling of the number of parameters, offer more choices for manipulations; for example, resul…
